Eco Sea Scooter Guided Beach Tour From The Famous Kapalua Bay

What a truly fantastic experience! We booked the tour for my daughter’s 10th birthday and could not be happier that we did. Barbie made everything so easy and was extremely welcoming. Julia and Casey were wonderful guides - sharing their knowledge and making sure our daughter (and us) had an adventure to remember!

We had an A+++ experience on this excursion! There was a small miscommunication with my booking, but Barbie was incredibly accommodating and made everything right. She truly has a heart of gold. It's obvious that she's passionate about giving back to her community, especially by making snorkeling accessible for those with disabilities. Her kindness and dedication are just as impressive as the tour itself. Barbie also sends a text the night before with clear directions on where to meet and exactly what to expect. The tour begins with an amazing presentation. I don't want to give away any details because I don't want to spoil it, but it's informative, engaging, and really sets the tone for the experience. If you've ever been hesitant about snorkeling or are concerned about safety, make this your very first snorkeling adventure. Safety was clearly the top priority from start to finish. I've been on more than 50 snorkeling excursions, and this was the first time my family was given magnetic shark deterrent ankle bands. That extra attention to safety really stood out and gave us even more confidence in the water. Viktor was our guide, and we had an absolute blast with him! He made sure everyone felt safe while showing us every square inch of one of the most beautiful bays in Maui. Along the way, he pointed out pufferfish, eels, turtles, and so much other amazing marine life that we would have completely missed on our own. He was knowledgeable, fun, and made the experience unforgettable. My kids especially loved using the sea scooters. After Viktor showed them a few tricks, they were doing somersaults underwater! My son even pulled off a double somersault with the sea scooter! This excursion was a 10/10 in every way. Between Barbie's genuine compassion and commitment to her guests and community, and Viktor's incredible guidance and enthusiasm, this was easily one of the best excursions we've ever done. I can't recommend it enough. Don't leave Maui without experiencing it, you won't regret it!

Barbie took us out and we saw so many sea turtles and fish. It was an absolutely amazing time! My husband and I loved every second of it!!!

The experience once you get to the water is great . Our guide was super knowledgeable and made it fun . The only negative experience is when we arrived to the excursion I was informed I had to pay a mandatory $25 per wet suit rental fee or we could not partake. If it’s mandatory why is it not included in the already high priced excursion . In my opinion it’s an extra money grab . They know once you’re there you not going to back out .

This was an awesome and fun excursion and great way to kickoff our Maui vacation. Barb (Owner) and Julia (Diving instructor) were top notch. They waited until we were comfortable and ready to hit the bay with the Sea Scooters. They had plenty of power and made it seamless and easy to Maneuver with the Airtime Watertime Floater suit. These suits are the absolute best and could really help a person with disabilities still enjoy the water.

The best snorkeling experience I've ever hand HANDS DOWN! Barbie is just the sweetest, so informative, and you can really see how passionate she is about her work as well as preserving the sanctity of the oceans. Julia was an amazing tour guide; really patient, informative and fun as well! I appreciate her trying to show me how to do some tricks with scooter, even though I was struggling lol. I was also celebrating my birthday and they took great footage/ photos of me in mermaid tails. I recommend anyone, no matter what level swimmer you are or if you have any fear of the ocean (which I do myself) to book this excursion ASAP! I will definitely be doing this again when I'm back! Eco Sea Scooter Snorkeling Academy 🪸🐠🤿 is an amazing women-owned business guided by the leadership and vision of Barbie Yamamoto! Her team is top-notch; focused on safety, environmental education/conservation, and ensuring everyone feels the aloha spirit. 🤙💯 I showed up at her house for a safety briefing and gear fitting. It was well organized. Everything was sanitized and laid out in advance. Despite being a certified freediver, I took the upgrade and wore one of the float suits. Other advanced swimmers might enjoy the fins-only option. I enjoyed the float suite and found it so relaxing just gliding through the water effortlessly. The 3 speeds on the sea scooter allow you to start slow and turn up the speed as you get more confident. I was so impressed by how accessible this experience was to non-swimmers. There was a brother and sister pair on my tour, and neither of them were strong swimmers. After a brief orientation with our guide and with the aid of the float suit/scooter combo, they were as comfortable in the water as I was after the first ten minutes. We explored the breathtaking underwater landscape of the vibrant Kapalua Bay, the visibility is world-class. We saw a wide variety of coral and abundant marine life including sea turtles and several species of fish. The underwater scooter made cruising the crystal-clear waters a breeze, giving us more time to soak in the scenery while covering a lot of ground. 🫶🌊🌴 The tour ended with a heartfelt debrief where we shared highlights and received tips on how to continue supporting marine conservation in our everyday lives. Too much fun!!! The tour was well organized, the guide made sure everyone was comfortable in the water as well as with the use of the sea scooter but allowed us the freedom to explore within her lead. We zig zagged through the open ocean exploring all it had to offer. It was exhilarating…I felt like a dolphin zooming along with the wildlife. The bay was beautiful and I felt safe & free! If you want to take snorkeling to the next level, this is it! We had a blast!

Informative and enthusiastic guide. With the scooters, we were able to explore a much larger area of the bay, with less effort. Spectacular opportunity to see turtles, fish and colorful coral.

Nico and Barbie are amazing. Nico is so patient and kind while instructing us. I was unable to get the hang of it so I sat on the beach and made friends while my husband had the experience of viewing the underwater world.

This was the BEST snorkeling experience I've ever had! The "scooter" (Kind of a James Bond propeller engine you hang on to) made snorkeling so much better! You could go farther faster, get down easier, and you didn't even need flippers! Barbie gave a quick "course" in how to use the scooters and took us to an uncrowded beach where we got some close up encounters with several turtles and, of course, a ton of fish. I never want to do just a normal snorkeling trip again! From now on, nothing but Snorkel scooter for me! Prior to this, I had done a normal snorkel tour to Molokini and "Turtle Town." The snorkel scooter experience blew both of those away!

Great view of turtles and fish. Was a little weird because we went to someone’s home for this. We were the only 2 which turned out well because we didn’t have to follow a bigger group. He really cares about the ocean. We did have fun and saw lots of fish and turtles.

Fun snorkeling in the bay! We had never used a scooter before and it was really fun. Tony was great! He explained everything very clearly so we knew exactly what to do once we got to the bay and in the water. We highly recommend purchasing the GoPro package so you have pictures and videos from your experience. We would do this again!

We did a morning tour with our family led by Barbie and really enjoyed ourselves. My wife and I did the floating wetsuits and found they gave us an extra degree of confidence when snorkeling. I didn't think the scooters were as powerful as they turned out to be and ended up wishing we could take them home with us. Kapalua Bay is great for snorkeling, even when crowded, with lots of reef fish and sea turtles. Barbie does great work with the disabled community with the float suits and is an excellent tour guide, we strongly recommend her for both the experience and value.

This was an awesome experience. My wife is not a swimmer. The wetsuit provided has floatation it in that would not allow her to sink. Then we were provided a sea scooter. It took two minutes for our guide to make sure my wife was comfortable, and next thing I knew my wife was zipping around like a pro. We saw alot of fish and swam around 4 sea turtles! The owner is wonderful and very passionate about what she does with these wetsuits. I honestly can't fathom a company that doesn't have those on hand for Snorkeling. They are great for beginners and handi capped. I would highly recommend this!

This was THE BEST way to snorkel! The team was so informative! What they are doing is so cool! Martin was amazing as our guide and going out to the open ocean was so amazing with these things! They are really easy to use too! 2 thumbs up for sure!!

Nice educational presentation about the use of the scooters and the different marine life we would encounter. The tour director and guide were both very friendly. The tour was an appropriate amount of time. We all enjoyed it.

What an amazing time! Even though I’m a newbie and can’t swim, I felt really safe in the ocean with the wetsuit! My husband is a bit more of a pro and loved the sea scooter. The host was knowledgeable and we had an amazing time! I’m glad we found this because the sea scooter made snorkeling fun! We also got to rent a GoPro!

It’s always awesome to be given a tour and understanding of the island by locals. they show you the best things to look at they understand the wildlife and the sea life better than anyone, this activity is top notch and they know what they’re talking about and they’re doing great things for the environment as well. Our Guide Martin was just awesome and great at his job.

We had a great experience with Eco Sea Scooters! Martin was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a good experience! Barbie is the owner and is absolutely fantastic!

Loved it!! Safety was first with the instructions from Barbie….all details were covered before entering the water. Felt very comfortable with the lead instructor Martin and his apprentices Amelia’s and Gruce. Although the ocean conditions were not the best, we were still able to see a variety of marine life and 2 large sleeping turtles. The scooters were easy to use and we were finally able to master the back flip (just one😉).

We had the best experience! Barbie was so wonderful and helped my family get ready. In our group there were 3 older ladies and Barbie was so patient with them. Martin was our guide and was exceptional he was so kind and helped my family with so much and very very patient with us! We were so great full for him!

This is the first time our family drive the sea scooter. The scooter is easy to navigate and also my boys learn to do tricks such as back flips in the water. COOL. The most fun part is to swim close to the sea turtle. We had a wonderful time and we highly recommended this tour.

This was super fun, could not have had a better time! Barbie was super accommodating with us to make sure we had great water clarity and a superb time. Our guide made us feel prepared, safe, and trained, and we had the most amazing time! highly recommend this experience, it's a great upgrade over regular snorkeling.

Our scheduled day was cold and rainy and the owner called us to reschedule. Very accommodating! We are so glad that we rented the floatation wetsuit which eliminates the need for fins and rash guard. We had a wonderful time cruising with our scooters in Napili Bay. Owner, Barbie, is very passionate about saving our ecosystem and coral reef. She also donates wetsuit to people with disability so they can enjoy the water. Great people!!

This was a fun and immersive experience into the waters around Maui. Not only was our instructor nice and patient she helped us be safe and have a good time. You don't always know what you will run into but on our experience we got to see a sea turtle and a manta ray. Willow was very good at explaining and showing how to snorkel properly with the sea scooter. Overall experience was satisfying worth every penny and the by the time your supposed to be done you will be ready. The experience and process can definitely wear you out a little after 45-60 minutes. Recommend for moderate experience snorkeling. But as someone who's never done it was an experience I'll never forget. Mahalo and Aloha again to Barbie and Willow you rock!

Really good experience on the reef and the sea scooters were a welcome addition. Our guide was knowledgeable about the reef. The only thing I would change is that I wish the company met us directly at the beach rather than an off-site location.

The boys went and did this while the girls went shopping -and let me tell you, the girls definitely missed out! .We were a little uncertain at first as we pulled in to a residential area with awkward parking to meet up for departure, things were a little disorganized at first but once everyone got rounded up and headed out it was smooth sailing. Barbie was energetic and informative. We saw so many turtles and fish - tons more than on our other snorkeling tour - two turtles came up and swam between us for a while! This was money well spent for sure.

This was a great experience, as advertised you can see the marine life right in front if you. She rescheduled our tour due to weather changes so we could have a better experience. FYI shave your mustache

This was a great experience, we literally saw the fishes as soon as we walked in, since the water was very clear. Our guide was amazing as well! She taught us how to use the equipment first so that once we got into the water we would be able to snorkel and be guided by the scooter at the same time. I would definitely recommend this when visiting Maui.
