It was nice but not that great. And I thought pricey for what we got. Nice venue and pleasant staff.

Not worth the extra money for VIP. $500 + for two people is about 30-40% overpriced. The show was fine but it is nowhere close to 3 hours as advertised. The food is good. My wife thinks an 8 and she said she’s being nice.
The luau was entertaining, as well as informative. The food was also delicious. Everyone that travels to Hawaii should definitely go to a luau, and Drums of the Pacific didn’t disappoint
Good experience really enjoyed the entire experience. Had a great table of people. We was celebrating 30 yrs of marriage.
Everyone should experience a Luau!! What a great event that enable you to experience the Hawaiian culture and traditions. The fire dancing/show was all that! Food was really good. What a beautiful tropical atmosphere.
The female and male Dancers were really very good. The theme of the show also very good. The host past his prime and not a good singer. The show was long. The area nice and organized. The food just average. Overall maybe too expensive for the quality but the performers were great.
Very mediocre. Certainly not worth $250. Food was less than stellar. I've never seen a luau where people sat at tables. Very long and monotonous.
Lovely show, beautiful storytelling, dancing and live music. The food was delicious and there was plenty for everyone to enjoy and go for seconds. They brought out a child meal (chicken tenders and chips) for our 5 year old, which was great. The hospitality was incredible. Upon entry, you get to take a professional picture with the beach behind you. (We received 2 free prints because we purchased VIP) The dancers also stayed around after the show to take pictures with everyone. Highly recommended experience.
The show was colorful and lovely. The fresh fish was terrific, desserts not so much. Our waiter, Rick, was amazing and treated us like royalty!
Not a great experience for my family. Show had a very slow start… kids lost interest after an hour. The food was not good. The steak and chicken were inedible. I was so hoping this experience would be memorable for the family, and therefore worth the cost. We ended up leaving early and grabbing dinner on the walk home.
Wish we would have done the luau at the Sheraton. Don’t expect to get ahold of anyone in concierge if needed. And when you do, they’re rude. The dancing was good and food was good. It’s a big venue, I prefer smaller for this type of experience.
It was good, venue is nice. Need better information for handicap drop off Needs to have more interaction too much lag time between sets
Fabulous Luau! Worth the money! Great performers! Food was delicious and filling! Drinks flowing! Making friends at table.
Subject: Thanks for joining us on 7/24/2026! If I left a review, it probably wouldn’t be that great because we spent a lot of money and we were bagged for a tip by the waiter. We are on table number 31 and he kept asking not once twice or three times but like four or five times and we spent enough money and the food was OK but the drink selection was poor and to be honest show was just OK not worth $400
I do not suggest Drums of the Pacific. We paid $260, an extra $50 for the VIP upgrade and we are guaranteed the first two tables. We got the third table and the place is so crowded; you are seated at tables In a very confined area and you don't even have enough room to pull your chair back without hitting somebody else. I have done many luaus and they're all oceanfront; you can walk around., you have different activities to do, differant booths to buy cool things at , you can watch the pig be taken out of the pit etc. Most have an oceanfront setting beachfront where you can see the ocean. . Drums of the Pacific offers none of this. You are iin a confiined area with no view of the water, nowhere to walk around and no ambiance and no activities. The show itself was fine but the atmosphere and the setting was horrible. I have very much regret going to this Laua. I feel very misled by rhe whole experience and especially misled by the VIP upgrade as we were not given what we were promised ( guareenteed the first or second table) completely false advertising. and ithe sun with directly in our eyes for the first hour and a half. We are not big drinkers, but part of the fun and ambience is an atmosphere whereb you can walk around and socialize with other people around the bar and take your time and order whatever you want. Even though a server came around every so often to take a drink order and when asked, they told us that we are welcome to go to the bar and order our own drink, there was only one tiny bar and nobody was there as you were pressured to stay in your seat and just tell the cocktail server whatever you wanted, which were very limited options and only offered every so often. They're also was a scan that you had to put on your phone and wasn't the easiest menu to read. I have never left a review before because I really don't complain, but this is something I feel strongly about as I don't want other people to pay a lot of money and be disappointed. We have gone to the Old Lahaina, Royal Lahaina and Grand Wailea Luaus and they are SO much better in every way. Please do not waste your money here as you'll be very disappointed.
So for a 4th of July luau with VIP tickets, we expected a lot more. Even though we purchased the VIP package for all 3 of us, we still had to wait in the long line upon arrival as there was no difference between regular ticket admission and VIP. Once we did get inside, our table was no better or no worse than the “regular” seating. We were a decent distance away from the stage in the mix of many other tables. If I had to start with 1 bit of advice, don’t waste your money on the “VIP” experience. Once we were seated, we quickly learned that the drink menu is very limited and for people that don’t drink mixed drinks, you only get the choice of 3 wines - a Chardonnay, a Merlot and a zin… not great for nearly $300 per ticket. They say that it is an all you can eat buffet, but as soon as we got our food and sat back down, the waitress came by and informed us that deserts and coffee were already being served… We hadn’t even started eating the food that we just got from the buffet and we were already being told that desert was being served. By the time we finished our first plate of food, the buffet was already being cleared - so not much of an “all you can eat” buffet. And I would say that the food was mediocre. Nothing great about it, just adequate for a buffet. They really rush you through your dinner. In regards to this being good for families, I would say that the story line was difficult to follow and the only real excitement came during the last 5-10 minutes with the fire dancers. But up until that point, we were all a bit bored and disappointed at the way things were presented in the marketing of the luau. Being that it was the 4th of July we expected there to be something special for the holiday, but you could quickly tell that this was more of a regular show that it performed night after night rather than something really special. My wife likened it to a “Vegas residency” in that it had that “we perform this night in and night out, and just want to get through it…” Overall I give it 3 out of 5 stars, but that’s being a bit generous. For $700 I expected more and if I had to do it over again, I would have used that $700 for a couple of good dinners out on the island.
i would not recommend it. Very mediocre show.
great seats. Too bad it rained prior to the dinner and show. It was muddy especially in the parking lot. Food was very American with a few Hawaiian dishes. Very good - pork, chicken and beef. The show was excellent. It was pretty long with a story in the mix.
Our family had an absolutely wonderful time, everything was well organized, enjoyable, and food was really good. The picture they took of us was one of our favorites of the whole trip. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and we felt it was absolutely worth the cost. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii, especially first-time visitors looking for an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the entire team for helping create such amazing memories for our family!
You will love the people and the experience! The entire show was fantastic. I love the way EVERYTHING was soooo organized. The line was very long to enter but that woman and her IPAD kick butt checking guests in. One in they directed you to your table. I loved just how organized everything was.
My family enjoyed learning about the culture while watching these talented performers! Highly recommend!
It was beautiful experience! The story they told was absolutely gorgeous. Food and staff were very nice.
The show was ok, but the food, drinks and service all were lacking. The drinks tasted like they had no alcohol . The food was horrible. This should cost less than $75 / person at the most, not over $200. Go elsewhere for your luau.
We have been to three different luaus in the Lahaina area in the past 5 years: The Drums of the Pacific would be my second choice. The Old Lahaina Luau is much better, nicer grounds, food brought to your table, better view of the show. The Drums of the Pacific has a buffet, which was fine, but although we were seated right next to it, we were dead last in the line. The food was fine but not as good as the Old Lahaina Luau. The last choice luau for me would be The Royal Lahaina luau.
The website states that the show starts at 5:30. My friends and I arrived early to make sure we would not have to stand in line to get. Even after arriving at 4:30, 5:15 was when they started checking your name /reservation in which we were given an assigned table. They did not let people in until nearly 6p. We were expecting to be seating at 5:15, not the case, we still had to stand and wait before they begin letting people in. If you had a VIP reservation, those people were permitted to go in first. We reserved our tickets on line and did not see the option for VIP seating. A few minutes into the show it started misting then raining, not to mention the high winds. The food was cold due to the high winds the burners that could have kept the food warm did not. It rained so much the staff started handing out ponchos. People were leaving while the show continued to go on. It was a great disappointment to have paid over $200, for cold food, rain and having to stand nearly an hour because the show did not start the time it displayed on the website. The weather can't be controlled, but having a plan to keep the food warm, and letting people in early enough to at least sit down would have been helpful. There were seniors having a hard time standing with no place to sit. I would think that since Regency has done this show for decades, they would be prepared for any given situation with a back up plan. We were very disappointed and had high hopes for a great experience, that was not the case. This show came recommended and had great reviews. I am sure that will change after the May 24, 2026 show. A full refund would suffice.
I'm very disappointed I didn't take my family to the Lahaina Luau. It is so much better! Bigger, faster, flashier. My largest complaint was the extremely poor sound system at the Hyatt. My family was seated in the second row of tables, farthest left if looking at the stage. No one at our table could hear a single word that was being said ! I assume it was so informative? Ruined the entire night. Exactly like watching a movie with no sound. Staff was friendly enough. We had to ask for high chairs even though babies were listed in our group. Cocktails were pre-made and subpar. My 2 year old loved the drums.
The show was great! The food was mediocre, but that may just be my personal taste. The description is misleading, however. It describes poi ball lessons, coconut tree climbing, and coconut husking - did none of that, and those were some of the reasons I chose this luau - disappointing. The unearthing of the pig was barely noticeable and not as exciting as my kids expected - they actually didn't even realize it happened.
A wonderful production! Very entertaining and the food was very good.
It was a great show! Very entertaining and the food was good. We especially loved Rick, our waiter. He made the night perfect with his witty humor! One recommendation..don’t forget a jacket! It gets windy!
The performers and atmosphere were great, but unfortunately we ended up leaving early because birds continuously kept pooping on guests throughout dinner and the show. After getting hit multiple times ourselves, it honestly became hard to enjoy the experience. We completely understand it’s an outdoor event and things happen, but it definitely took away from the evening for us. With the price of the event as well, it just didn’t feel worth it to us.
The quality of food was excellent for a Luau buffet . Their margaritas were very good. The show was excellent from Hula to Tahitian . The female dancers were amazing . The male dancers performing their cultural dances. were incredible, ,especially the fire dancers . Anyway , it was a show and luau well worth seeing in Maui! The hostess needed to speak up louder , other than that excellent !
I had a very frustrating experience that could have been easily avoided with better management from the beginning. When we arrived, we were told that our assigned seating could not be honored and were asked to sit separately, even though we were a couple. This made no sense, especially since we could clearly see empty seats available in the VIP area. It is unreasonable to expect guests attending a show together to sit apart. Additionally, another customer nearby was visibly upset and angry about the situation, which made the environment uncomfortable and added to our frustration. It did not feel like a pleasant or welcoming experience at that point. A simple and proactive solution—such as asking other guests to avoid leaving empty seats between groups or better organizing the seating—would have solved the issue immediately. Instead, we were initially dismissed and offered a non-VIP table, which significantly affected our experience. Later, the manager approached us and offered a solution. However, by that time the show had already started and we were already eating, so moving at that moment would have been very uncomfortable and disruptive. Eventually, they even offered to refund the difference, and I do appreciate that they tried to make things right in the end. However, this situation should have been handled correctly from the start. Guests should not have to complain or escalate an issue for a basic seating arrangement to be respected. Overall, I appreciate the final attempt to resolve the issue, but the initial handling fell short of expectations.
Only Lu’au I’ve ever been to. Not sure what the standard is for a Lu’au. Service was great! Shoutout Michael. Food was good! The beef was dry but the chicken was good as well as the pork and the poke was GREAT. Pineapple upside down cake was GREAT too. Drinks were good, nice and sweet. I went to a show a couple of years ago in Costa Rica at the all inclusive for cheap. 99 compared to the Hyatt (no offensive to you guys, y’all are great! But Costa Rica is a lot cheaper than Hawaii but with solid quality). I thought the end of this show was the opening for the fire and then it just ended…for expensive ninety nine for the resort and the show I just wanted so much more with the fire. The show was cruise ship quality, which there is nothing wrong with that! But I paid more than cruise ship prices to board this boat. I gave it 3 stars but maybe 3.5 is more accurate. Hawaii (MAUI) is expensive! Maybe this price point is worth it maybe it is not, you decide!
Fabulous show! Wonderful mc, dancers, and band! Various dances and music. Fantastic fire performance! Staff was friendly. Food was delicious, plenty with much variety .
We thought this would be a great way to learn about the culture.... but there were many flaws - the main one being that it was difficult to even hear the host of the luau. While she spoke into a microphone, there were not many speakers around the seating area to hear her. There are 8 people to a table, and the chairs are TIGHT. I was impressed, however, that ponchos were provided for the rain. Our kids let us know that this was not worth the money. Food and drinks were good!
Convenient if you are staying at Hyatt regency Wait staff is spread much too thin for drink orders, difficult to get drinks . Only two single stall bathrooms available for 400 ish people. Was gross by end of night and long lines so you missed parts of show Awkward walkways, not wide enough to easily go between your table and buffet area/bathrooms. Our party of six was sat with another couple. The table did not comfortably hold eight people at all, especially not when two of them were strangers. It was so tight getting in and out of the seat at the table and we are small/normal size people Appreciated the allergen labeling at the buffet, 2/3 dessert options are nut filled but most of the dinner is nut free.
We really enjoyed it. The food was good and the entertainment great!
The food and the experience were excellent. We especially loved the history woven into the beauty of the female and strength of the male dancers.
The dancing was great. Food was okay and so were drinks. The waiter we got was very cool and so were the hotel staff. Unfortunately, when we went the storm just stopped so they didnt have water. Besides that, it was a great show set right where the beach is with a great view of the sunset
Excellent show & dinner! Perfect length! Great waiter! Over all an excellent experience.
I’m going to break this review into categories. Food: Four stars. I would probably compare it to cruise ship food. Amazing? No. Good? Yes. There were several entree choices, including the traditional pig. Fish and chicken were offered, too. Wait staff: Five stars. The hostess and server were friendly. Do be prepared to tip at the end. Our waiter did a good job keeping our drinks full. Facilities/atmosphere: Three stars. We were seated off to the side, with our backs to the stage and the sun shining right into our eyes. Definitely bring sunglasses. There are four chairs on each side of the table, and the armrests touch each other, so it feels crowded. Entertainers: Five stars. Everyone in the show is very talented. The fire dancers in particular were amazing. One additional comment would be that the hours are technically 5-8. We arrived around 5:15 and didn’t feel like we had missed anything. The show was done around 7:25 ish.
What an incredible disappointment! The greeting was subdued and lacked any energy. It was sleepy, at best. There was no "mai tai greeting" as advertised, and when I asked about it, I was told, "We already put them away, but you can still enjoy the open bar." We are a gay couple in our 40s, and they sat us with a family with three young kids, and parents who didn't care how poorly behaved their kids were, so we asked to be reseated. It was such an ordeal host to speak to someone just to ask to be reseated. Once the show/food started, it was really good. Our sever was good. Everyone in the show was great, except the host (who was way over the top), but they greeting just ruined the overall experience. How disappointing!
3.5 for me. It was definitely overpriced. The show was done by 7:20 pm (not 8 pm as indicated) and still was losing the interest of my kids a bit. The fire comes at the end but is only a few minutes long and that grabbed their attention again. We did enjoy the entertainment and it is a one and done for me when in Hawaii. Yes, it could be more authentic but it was about what I was expecting. The good - beautiful setting and the food (buffet style) was fairly good. The bad - the "VIP" uncharge left a bad taste in my mouth. It is assigned based on when you purchase the VIP but there were more VIP's than not. I sat in the 8th seat away from the stage after paying for VIP (quite a ways back). However if you don't pay for VIP, you will be far back for sure. It really was poorly communicated when purchasing the tickets what VIP was and seems scammy. The bonuses included are not at all worth it - the photo they took beforehand is absolutely terrible. My iPhone photo is better. Check in was extremely slow. The tables are really crowded - the chairs barely push underneath. Hyatt Regency could really improve on some of the services to make it an overall better experience.
Truly amazing!! Well worth the price. Get the VIP ticket! Our server Deborah was wonderful and attentive! The music and dancing was lovely!!
For the price the show and the food were not great. Have been to much better and more authentic Luaus on the island.
I’ve been to a few Luau’s on Maui and this one seemed cheap. For what we paid I would expect just a little more. First, we were under the impression that the show started promptly at 5:30 and doors opened at 5:00. Since we weren’t VIP we waited against a wall until about 5:15. So just go straight to your seat. Not that there was much to do prior. They had a free temporary tattoo and one other thing for the kids to do. Drink service was a little slow, but I think our table was skipped because we were never given waters to begin with. We ended up just going to the bar ourselves. The food was ok. The dancers were fine just the show was crap. Felt more high school production instead of professional. And yeah my name is Karen…
Good show but after paying so much it is NOT vegetarian friendly at all . We had mentioned at the time of booking that we were vegetarian and yet there was hardly any option . !!!!
The show was good but at our table (#1) we could not understand a word of the female MC. The food was excellent and the drinks kept coming. They need a better audio system or a MC that can talk louder with better pronunciation.
Lovely time and the entertainment was superb. Really enjoyed the MC and Dexter was attentive and so kind. My husband and I both commented on how delicious everything tasted.
the 1 star isn’t for the hula or for knife s show or food it for the server who didn’t serve us for over an hour . i walked up to the bar 4 times and the dude was just chiling not doing a thing but we saw everyone else in ga and vip getting their drinks brought to them . after the 4 time i went back to the bar the surround crew and bartender told x male server who was at least 50-60 to tend his tables cause we were all pissed . We had vip and i would never attend this luau again even if they gave me free admission . ill got to another one just never this one
