The captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the island We saw lots of fish but unfortunately no dolphins
Mediocre snorkeling. The trip on the zodiac was rapid. Crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. The body texted is after we were there that they'd be late
My husband and I have been on other zodiac boats on the big island and this by far was the best! Captain Dave and Lucas were friendly, knowledgeable and made the excursion well worth the cost. I have snorkeled many times and this was the first time someone went through how to adjust your mask so it does not leak in such detail! First time my mask did not eventually fill with water and I had no issues. Definitely recommend this company!
Amazing trip, tour guides were professional and knowledgable. A school dolphins swam right under me.
We thought the guides were very informative and I particularly thought it was great how they showed such concern for the safety and comfort of everyone. The reefs were beautiful and the background details given were great.
This was the perfect mix of a fun adventurous zodiac boat ride and a beautiful snorkel adventure! There were so many beautiful and different fish to view. Jake and Eric made the boat ride and total experience a blast! Worth the money to visit
Lucas & Dave are amazing! This is the best adventure we had this whole trip. All the coral, fish, squid, while snorkeling; them all the history like the Captain Cook, Pele, etc.. My husband & I made awesome memories! Thank you Lucas & Dave & Riki
Amazing experience, very friendly people and delicious snacks. I totally recommend it mainly if it’s your first time in Kona. It’s a must do.
Unfortunately, this snorkeling tour was disappointing. The preparation took too long, with a lot of focus on sunscreen checks and offering GoPros, wetsuits and other extras for rent. We were also surprised that fins cost an additional $10, as basic snorkeling equipment has been included on other tours we have taken. Everyone was required to use a flotation noodle at all times, making it impossible to dive even briefly below the surface. This seemed overly restrictive, especially since we had signed a waiver. When I questioned the rule, the female captain responded, “I don’t care,” which I found unnecessarily rude. We were also repeatedly told not to swim closer to shore near the Captain Cook Monument, even though we had no intention of going ashore. Hawaiʻi DLNR rules state that swimmers are allowed in the water but may not access the shoreline or land at Kaʻawaloa. There were also fewer fish than we expected. Overall, there seemed to be too much emphasis on restrictions and extra rentals and not enough on the snorkeling experience itself.
Eric and Lucas were the best! They knew a lot of history and shared great stories with us about the island
Always nice to get out on the water. I did not appreciate the canned message from the provider to absolve themselves in any circumstance and shift blame to the customer. While they did provide water I don’t believe 250ml as being adequate for 2.5 hours in the sun or we would have brought our own. There was no reference to where we “may see” dolphins so that was a fail
Fun trip with good scenic views. Good snorkeling with lots of fish, no dolphins though. Boat crew was excellent.
This tour was a fantastic experience. The zodiac ride took us into some interesting areas along the coast and the snorkeling waas great
Eric and Luke were fantastic guides. They were fun and very knowledgeable. I w I understand definitely book this excursion again. 10/10 ☆
I can't say enough about this tour. The had prescription masks for those who wear glasses. Huge plus! Our captain was Mika was SO much fun and very informed about the area. The snorkeling was beautiful! Then we spent time watching the dolphins with a cool, refreshing pineapple snack. The ride back was full of fun stories and sights of sea caves. Book this trip!!! You won't be sorry.
The owner is greedy and dishonest, and the communication is terrible. We booked the 4:30 tour, and were bumped to the 1:30 tour at... wait for it... 11:30, the same day. 2 hours notice, with no prior warning or communication that it might happen. I could understand if it was a concern over weather, but the reason given (over text, by the way, so Viator couldn't know the shady last-minute change) was "do [sic] to not making boat capacity to run the 4:15 tour!" Also, the tour takes a 30-minute boat ride at reasonably high speeds to the reef, and you're not given a life jacket. But don't worry, you can rent one in advance for an extra $10. Also not communicated beforehand. We were given pool noodles for snorkeling, because, quote, "insurance requires us to give you a flotation device". So, just out of curiosity, does their insurance know that they're counting half a pool noodle as a "flotation device"? Asking for a friend. The reef was beautiful. The tropical fish were so cool to see, and the rock formations and caves we saw on the boat ride were amazing. But I'd warn anyone and everyone against giving this tour company your money, unless you like last-minute changes and paying extra for your basic safety.
We got off to a late start and was waiting by the boat for the captain and deckhand. The snorkeling was fabulous, however if you are expecting the captain or deckhand to get in the water they do not. It was fine by us but surprising. It was a smaller group which was nice.
Me and my boyfriend went on this tour and it was really enjoyable! From the communication on where to meet up, the ride out to the bay (our captain Koa was great!), snorkeling, and tour after was great! Lucas was also very nice and helpful if you needed anything. They cut up fresh pineapple as a snack and even handed out cold waters which was much needed. They had a great sense of humor and truly just wanted us to enjoy ourselves. I would do this again (and it’s a great price). Thank you so much for making our trip great!
The check in was a little off putting to meet at van on the corner of a street, the listing for sure needs to be updated with all the information that was texted to me, especially with the prices of different supplies offered, I felt as if I was a little blindsided by text message with all the additional information. The crew once on board was great, very a shared a lot of fun history and information about the local area and gave us a more information of the lore of Captain Cook. I would for sure book again.
Fun ride out to the bay. Snorkeling was good. Smallish area which was manageable and we saw a lot of fish and coral. We were out about an hour which was a little long. Would be good for kids or newer snorkelers. Eric and Lucas were good guides. You don’t need anything they try to upsell you on at first.
Eric and Chip were wonderful and made our excursion awesome. The boat ride was great and the spot we stopped for snorkeling was perfect. We saw schools of fish and the beauty of the reef.
Great tour! Knowledgeable staff and great snorkel locations. Do this tour when on the big island of Hawaii!
Put on lots of reef, safe sunscreen, and enjoy swimming in the water and seeing lots of fish! Right on the zodiac is very bumpy and very very fast! Corey and Lucas were great… A personal speaker microphone would be helpful as it was hard to hear what was being explained at stops along the way
Very fun from start to finish for the whole family - kids to grandparents! Beautiful snorkeling and so fun!
Great ride w/ Luke and Eric. We didn’t get to see caves or dolphins due to the inclement weather, but we still got out there and the speed ride was worth it all.
Think twice before booking with this company. I chose this excursion because it was shorter (2.5 hours) while still including snorkeling and a tour of the Captain Cook area. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet what was advertised. The first issue was the check-in process. The confirmation email tells guests where to meet but does not provide clear instructions on where to check in. Parking at this harbor is extremely limited, and Kona traffic is congested. Ironically, the company's own confirmation email emphasizes allowing a one-hour buffer before and after the tour and specifically advises guests not to schedule anything within an hour of the excursion. That warning exists for a reason. Despite everyone else arriving on time, our departure was delayed by nearly 30 minutes because the crew chose to wait for two guests who were stuck in traffic. As a result, every passenger who arrived as instructed lost approximately 30 minutes of a tour they had paid for while standing in the heat waiting. It felt unfair that those who planned accordingly were penalized because others did not. I expressed my irritation to the lifeguard assigned to our boat and was met with a dismissive response rather than an acknowledgment of the inconvenience. Once we finally departed, the captain welcomed everyone and said to let the crew know if we needed anything. During the safety briefing, I asked if my son could have some water. Instead of simply providing it or explaining when it would be available, I received a sarcastic response, and my son was not provided any water. While the scenery and destination are beautiful, the customer service and handling of these situations left much to be desired. Better communication, adherence to the published schedule, and more respectful interactions with guests would have made for a much better experience.
Captain Erica and Jake were great! They were friendly and knowledgeable. Perfect amount of time in the water and on the boat
The snorkeling was awesome!! The crew was knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about the area..
Great experience all around. Koa and Jake very knowledgeable about the island. Enjoyed the time in the water and saw a couple dolphins up close.
This was an amazing experience from start to finish. Rory and Kai did a fantastic job being super chill but also informative. Loved the boat ride the snorkel and the great food recommendations! Don’t skip this one!
This was an exceptionally awesome experience. I definitely recommend this excursion. Don't miss out !
Super fun! We saw so much ocean life and lots of dolphins. Koa and Lucas were great tour guides. We learned a lot of interesting facts and history about the big island and Hawaiian culture.
So many beautiful fish to see! The dolphins sighting and high speed boat ride were added bonuses to the whole experience! Beware, you may experience some nausea towards the end of the trip due to bobbing around in the water for a long period of time. Overall, I really enjoyed the trip!
Thumbs up to Roy and Lucas. Great job! Don’t miss it if you like roller coaster. You won’t get ocean roller coaster anywhere. Water isn’t cold. Lots of beautiful fish. Scenery you only can see from the ocean. We absolutely enjoyed the activity!
Clearest water, so many fish and we were luckily enough to see multiple groups of dolphins spinning and doing tricks.
This was my second time going out with this company! Had a blast! Helpful, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and well worth every dollar! Rory and Devon are great! We booked the Manta Ray snorkel also with Rory the next evening.
Amazing time Rory and Lucas were the best. We even had a whale shark visit us. Would recommend to anyone.
We had an absolutely amazing experience snorkeling with Koa and Lukas! This was honestly one of the highlights of our Hawaii trip and the best snorkeling tour we could have asked for. One of my favorite parts was that the group was small and intimate. Instead of being packed onto a large crowded boat, we got to enjoy the experience on a speedboat with a smaller group, which made everything feel much more personal and enjoyable. Riding over the waves was so much fun and added to the adventure! The snorkeling itself was incredible. We saw so much marine life, but the most unforgettable moment was watching dolphins jump completely out of the water and perform tricks not once, but twice! It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After snorkeling, Koa and Lukas served us fresh pineapple, and I can honestly say it was the best pineapple I’ve ever tasted. Throughout the trip, they shared so much knowledge about the area, wildlife, and local history. Their stories and passion for Hawaii made the experience even more special. If you’re trying to decide between this tour and a larger company, choose this one. The personal experience, amazing guides, and genuine local hospitality make all the difference. I highly recommend supporting this local business. you won’t regret it!
We were disappointed with our snorkel trip. We tried to reschedule in advance due to the weather conditions, but never received a response from the operator. Despite the poor conditions, the trip still went out. On the day of the excursion, the water was very stirred up, visibility was poor, and we did not see any sea life. The boat ride was also extremely choppy, which made the experience uncomfortable at times. We understand weather can be unpredictable, but given the conditions and lack of communication, we feel the trip should have been rescheduled or better handled. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations and we left very dissatisfied.
Awesome the crew Jake and Captain Koa was amazing. I wanna come back with these sane guys. Welcome Aboard Karen! Loved these guys personally made the trip. Awesome fish while snorkeling, seen a ton of dolphins and the coast tour kicked ass. The boat was really fun like a roller coaster on the swells. Such a good time. Better then the more expensive big boats if you want adventure!
What an exhilarating adventure! Captain Rory and First Mate Lucas were an incredible boat crew and showed our party an amazing time on the waves. We snorkeled with tons of colorful fish, coral, urchins and other unknown sea creatures before being whisked away to sea caves, blow holes, lava tubes and other indescribable views. Absolutely would recommend to anyone.
Koa and Lucas were good hosts. We saw a pool of dolphins. It was fun. The pineapple was tasty afterwards
The ride to and from the snorkel area is fast, bumpy and fun! The snorkeling was beautiful. Tour guides shared cool stories about the area.
Ari and Lucas were phenomenal! They provided great historical and geographical information. They were engaging and super professional! The boat ride was a total blast and the snorkeling did not disappoint! We had so much fun, we booked a second excursion with them!
Make sure to put on sunscreen or bring a rash guard shirt to help keep your back from burning. I unfortunately did not put enough on and didn’t have a shirt and got burned. However, it’s absolutely gorgeous scenery and Rory and Tai were great guides! Even got us to go back that night for manta ray snorkeling which was also super awesome!
The entire tour was awesome! Rory and Ky professional, funny, and friendly. Provide extensive knowledge of all aspects of the trip, from types of fish to the history behind the caves and what not. Was so blown away that we booked a night Manta Ray Snorkel with them for that very same night
Absolutely unacceptable experience. The tour company cancelled our tour without any notification whatsoever. We showed up expecting the excursion we paid for, only to find out it had been cancelled behind our backs. What made it even worse was the terrible customer service afterward. Instead of taking accountability or showing any concern that they had completely ruined our final day of vacation, they were dismissive, unhelpful, and acted like it was no big deal. We planned part of our trip around this experience, and because of their incompetence and lack of communication, our last day was wasted. Save yourself the frustration and book with literally anyone else.
Rory is the best captain and he’s my future husband I luv him! Saw dolphins and lots of fish cool caves
Luca and Rory were fabulous guides and great fun ! The downfall of the start of the tour was when we got a call from the ‘office’ saying where are you , you’re not getting a refund ! We had followed the instructions and were waiting by the lamp post at boat ramp! The guy on the phone couldn’t have been ruder if he tried !
