Discover Scuba Diving Experience In Honolulu

We went out for the discover scuba diving trip a couple of weeks ago and I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Jeff was an incredible guide and did an amazing job of calming me down when I first jumped in the water and got a bit panicky. It didn't seem to phase him at all and he knew exactly what to do to help me out. Once we got to the bottom we saw so many turtles and fish. My 10 year old son and I are not certified and they did any amazing job preparing us for the dive. Tom look my husband and son out and they had only good things to say. My husband and Tom even saw a shark on their 2nd dive. My son and I opted to snorkel instead of dive for the rest of the tour due to ear issues (turns out I ruptured my ear drum, but had issues with my ear flying out to Hawaii so that's on me). My husband is PADI certified but had not completed a dive in years and he feels like he got the refresher he needed to enjoy his day. There were only a 4 other people with us on the boat so the guide to guest ratio was perfect. We had a gorgeous day and even saw a pod of dolphins. Thanks so much to the guides and captain! Jeff, THANK YOU for not making me feel like an idiot for getting nervous. You were so kind and accommodating.

Most awesomeness experience I’ve had on the island so far

Very good experience, the instructors were very professional and fun. I felt safe the whole time. I would do it again and bring family and friends.

THIS ONE!! This is the dive company you want to go with! Dive Oahu instructors are patient and have a sense of humor. This is my 2nd time doing a discovery dive with them and they’re the best, especially if you’re someone who gets nervous! I got to have Jeff as my instructor. It was SO AWESOME! We saw lots of turtles and a shark taking a nap in a cave, and a devil scorpionfish! Jeff was a fantastic teacher and made sure I would know what to do if I got water in my snorkel. He helped me with my buoyancy and generally made me feel calm. I had so much fun! The only downside is that the dive is over.

Today I took a friend for a Discover Scuba dive with Dive Oahu. I always dive with Dive Oahu as thier customer service is excellent. Today the service was better than excellent. Colton took my friend through the skills required and then led us through two shallow reef dives. He is a great teacher. Nacho, the boat captain, was, as usual, superb in comunicating and in ensuring safety for divers entering and exiting the water. Our friend loved the experience ! Mahalo for a great day

It was my first scuba diving, the guys were so prepared, patient and professionals, I felt so safe in the ocean with them. The diving was my best experience during my hawaiian vacation.

What an incredible experience! I forgot some of the staffs name but every single crew member were so friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient. It took me minute to get use to releasing pressure out of my ear but they never made me feel rushed at all and took there time. We got to dive 40 feet down and seeing the coral reefs and all of the aquatic life was amazing. I can't emphasize enough how friendly everyone is. Now I want to get certified thanks to the incredible experience the team has left with me and all of their amazing hospitality.

Our hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, recommended this dive company, and although it was among the more expensive options, the quality of the experience fully justified the cost. Our group consisted of myself, a certified diver, my 11-year-old son, and my 13-year-old niece, both of whom participated in an introductory dive. The experience was exceptionally well organized. As we were the only three participants on the whole boat, the instructors were able to provide individualized attention throughout the excursion. Rachel, Riley, and Nacho demonstrated professionalism, patience, and a friendly approach, ensuring that both beginners felt comfortable and confident in the water. The excursion included two extended dives during which the instructors guided us to a variety of marine life and underwater features. Highlights included multiple groups of sea turtles, a juvenile whitetip reef shark resting in a cave, and abundant schools of tropical fish. Each dive continued until our air supply dictated a safe ascent, allowing us to maximize our underwater time. We were on the boat from approximately 7:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Most importantly, my son felt safe and well supported throughout the experience. He thoroughly enjoyed the dives and has since expressed a strong interest in becoming a certified diver himself.

My husband is certified but I wanted to try the discover scuba. I was able to learn the skills, practice in the water, and then do two separate dives with him tagging along. Jeff was a fabulous teacher and I felt very comfortable in the water with him. The whole crew was great and helpful esp our captain Adam! Would highly recommend - worth every penny!

We had a great time diving with Dive Oahu. Morgan, Chris, and Adam were amazing—friendly, professional, and a lot of fun to be around. My two teenage daughters were first-time divers, and the crew did an excellent job making them feel comfortable and confident throughout the experience. They were patient, kind, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made the entire day stress-free and enjoyable for our family. The dive itself was fantastic, and the team’s positive attitude and attention to safety really stood out. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to scuba diving for our girls. Highly recommend Dive Oahu, especially for families and first-time divers. We’ll definitely dive with them again when we’re back in Hawaii.

Absolutely hands down one of the BEST experiences I’ve ever had in Hawaii. The entire crew at Dive Oahu made us feel safe, welcomed, and genuinely excited to be out on the water. Trip was fantastic Nacho Jeff Justin Ami and Pat are all wonderful. They treated us really well and I’m grateful for their service, kindness, and jokes. Fabio is pretty cool too. If you're visiting Oahu and want to learn to dive — especially if you're nervous — book with Dive Oahu. My journey spanned two visits. I started with a discovery dive with Amie last October, then returned in March for my full Open Water certification with Jackson. He took me from barely passing the swim test to completing two days of open water dives, even while I was unknowingly dealing with a sinus infection that made breathing and panic a genuine struggle. Jackson never let me feel like quitting was the answer, and his patience made it possible for me to come back and finish. On my final visit this week, Amie was my instructor again for the last two dives — a full-circle moment I didn't expect. She guided me through the remaining skills and my first real underwater exploration with the same calm, encouraging energy from day one. If you're on the fence about trying diving while in Hawaii, let this be your sign. Jackson and Amie are exceptional. Dive Oahu earned every star. The main tweaks: added a descriptive subtitle (TripAdvisor readers often skim those), framed it for visitors planning a Hawaii trip, and the closing speaks to the traveler mindset of "should I do this activity."

An unforgettable first dive in Waikīkī! I went with my adult son and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our Dive Master, Amee, was incredible—patient, clear, and a fantastic teacher, while also keeping it fun the entire time. The crew was top-notch, the dive site was perfectly chosen, and the highlight… THE SEA TURTLES—absolutely wow. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try scuba for the first time!

Our first time diving was an absolute blast with Dive Oahu. Adam (Our favourite Jim Hopper lookalike!), Mark and Heather were very professional but easy to talk to which gave us a very comfortable atmosphere. Heather was our dive leader and kept constant eyes on us to check we were okay and obeying all best practices for a novice diver. Many thanks to her for putting me at ease and showing me the great things in the reefs. On my dive I swam with a turtle, sat on the sea floor with an octopus and saw lots of fish I never knew existed (cornetfish are particularly strange!) There were 4 of us on the diving trip and 2 others snorkelling. We started at 10:30am and we got back to land at around 1:30pm. Complimentary snacks and drinks were provided.

We had an absolutely incredible time with Matt, Ella, and Ryan? (Sorry forgetting the whole team’s names) - I am certified but this was my wife’s first introduction to scuba diving and the team made sure that both of our experiences were top notch. The certified divers on our excursion were able to get right into the water once offshore with a guide and have a great time exploring while the non-certified divers like my wife were taught the introduction basics to be safe and confident with a certified padi dive instructor - meaning we both got the best experience we could have tailored to both our experience levels. After the first dive, everyone was able to group up and go down to another reef for a second dive which was even more enjoyable. Saw white tip sharks, moray eel, rainbow parrotfish and so so much more!!! The entire crew was phenomenal, made sure everyone had fun while also ensuring safety was kept top of mind. I cannot speak highly enough about the team and the experience overall. The boat was clean, modern and we felt like we were so lucky to get such a positive experience here in Hawaii at a very reasonable price considering it was a half day experience @ about $150/person. We can’t wait to come back and do it again!

Nacho, Jeff, Heather and El were terrific crew members! Jeff especially was great in calming down my wife with her struggle to unnaturally breathe under water. In all seriousness this was an amazing tour and all crew members contributed to us having a great time. We saw a group of dolphins swim next to the boat on the way out of the marina and on the dives we saw a bunch of sea turtles, colorful marine life, and a small reef shark!

Best excursion! Jared, Jeff, Ami & Nacho are incredibly experienced, knowledgeable & patient ( 2 of us needed a bit more guidance). Well worth it , highly recommend & will definitely do again.

Jeff and Nacho were awesome. we did a 7 AM dive Jeff knew of some awesome places. We were able to see lots of sea turtles. We even got to see a shark by far. One of the best dives I’ve ever done. Will definitely return to this place and ask for Jeff and Nacho again.

Nacho, Jared, Justin and Ami were all great. I thought it was a really good way to find out if scuba was something you would want to pursue and get certified living in a non coastal area. The crew all spent time with us teaching us about the equipment, hand signals, safety measures, and answered any questions we might have. We got to do two dives down to forty or so feet. Where I was able to see an octopus, two different kinds of eel a school of puffer fish along with a whole plethora of other fish. Overall great experience with knowledgeable competent staff.

Dive Oahu with Nacho, Matt, Jeff and Max was absolutely terrific. I had not done an open water dive in over 44 years and these guys made this trip beyond incredible. I cannot recommend this company and specifically this team high enough. 5 stars not enough.

What an amazing experience. Captain Nacho, Justin and Ami were amazing. I was so nervous doing this and they were extremely patient. They made the experience even better. Justin told stories while in the water, made sure we didn't miss anything. Thanks to Captain Nacho for trying to find whales. If I ever go back to Hawaii I will definitely book another trip with them. This crew is so amazing, now my son and I want to learn to Scuba Dive. Just wish we were closer to learn from this crew. 10/10 experience with everyone at dive Oahu, super knowledgeable staff able to help you with everything and very helpful with the training required to do the dive! Jeff and Jarret were our instructors and I definitely couldn’t say any better things about them! 10/10 recommended for any beginners wanting to do a shallow reef dive and snorkeling.

Had an amazing experience at Turtle Canyon on my Discovery Dive. Ami did an amazing job taking a novice through the basics and making sure I was safe. After that we saw turtles, an eel, and an octopus. Captain Nacho and Justin were great as well.

Our dive master, Lindsey was great and was very attentive to our needs as divers. Adam was a great captain and kept us at ease while keeping a well organized ship.

My fiancé and I had the BEST experience with Heather and Dave on our beginner scuba diving class! Heather was incredibly patient and encouraging with us the entire time, making sure we felt safe and confident every step of the way. Dave was also wonderful as our boat driver, creating such a fun and relaxed atmosphere. As total beginners (and a little nervous at first), we couldn’t have asked for a more supportive team. Heather never gave up on us and made sure we had a positive experience from start to finish. It was totally worth the money to feel comfortable, supported, and to actually enjoy the dive instead of being stressed. If you’re even a little bit hesitant about trying scuba, this is the perfect place to go. We honestly could not recommend them more

Justin took me out just the 2 of us because I’m still a beginner, and he was great. Very instructive and fun. We had a great time and saw many things. The rest of the crew were also very welcoming and kind.

My first scuba diving experience was an absolute thrill! Our instructor, Justin, was incredibly professional yet also so cool and patient. His calm and empathetic approach immediately put both my wife and me at ease, which was invaluable for a first-time dive. The marine life was breathtaking; we were lucky enough to spot a shark and a pod of dolphins. The weather was beautiful, and the entire staff was friendly and efficient, making the whole trip seamless. I can't recommend this experience enough—it's truly a must-do for anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure.

I had the best dive experience with Dive Oahu. The crew is incredible! Captain Nacho, Jeffrey and Justin were the best! My husband is scuba certified and he went off with Jeffrey and 3 other divers. I have done 3 dives before this one but I’m not certified. I almost completed my certification in Phuket and finished all the skill tests and the first open water dive. On the second dive there was a really crazy current that knocked the wind out of me and then I had to swim about 100 yards to get out of it. By that time I was just exhausted and had gotten water up my nose and swallowed a lot of salt water. I still went down but after I was down a few feet, I decided that I just didn’t want to complete my open water certification. So… I decided to do this Discovery Scuba with Dive Oahu and I’m so glad I did! It was awesome!! I had the pleasure of having Justin as my guide and he was so patient and helpful. I get a little uneasy and panic a little at first when I get in the water. Justin was so reassuring and made me feel comfortable enough to go down. It was amazing! We saw turtles, octopus, a cute baby shark, sea urchin, eels, and tons of other beautiful fish. I highly recommend Dive Oahu! You will not be disappointed! 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My daughter and I have been on this three times now and this year we brought her friend for his first dive. We always have a blast and enjoy the fun but professional crew especially “Nacho.” We also had Heather and Jeffrey for our crew/dive members who were awesome at working with the new divers and making the entire experience memorable! We are very happy with each trip we have made and will continue in using Dive Oahu! Now we just need to get certified so we can go see more of Oahu. See you next time everyone!!

The experience was really fun, Jeff was the instructor and he did an amazing job explaining everything, making sure we were safe! I definitely would recommend him and we will go on another scuba dive with him again. It was the first time for my 16 year-old son to scuba dive and he had a lot of fun and no problems thanks to Jeff!

We had an amazing experience with Dive Oahu. My partner and I took Scuba diving for non-certified divers. My cousin and his partner joined snorkeling. All of the staffs were so amazing. Heather was our scuba instructor and Josh was the snorkeling instructor. We were truly fortunate to have such encouraging instructors who motivated us at every step. My cousin and I were nervous when getting into open water for the first time. I really appreciate Heather and Josh for being extremely patient with us. The company has such an amazing team. We can't say thank you enough for making our trip so memorable and unforgettable. Love you guys.

We had an excellent time! This was our second time using this company, this time with a different crew from last time. Adam was our captain, Jared led the certified divers, Lindsey taught the discovery divers, and Justin worked with the snorkelers. Every one of them was great to work with! The first dive site was pretty choppy and one of the snorkelers ended up not being able to handle it and Adam did a great job entertaining them while the others dived/snorkeled. The second site was very calm and everyone loved it! Would highly recommend them anytime!
