Captain Nick and mate Tim were great. Captain Nick stayed out an extra 2 hrs to try to catch tuna. He did everything he could to get fish on board. This is why it's called fishing and not catching. I would go out with him again.

Good clean safe ship. Great instruction. Would have given a 5 but didn’t hook a fish on a half day. Probably not the season to fish so check what is a good time would be before you book any trip on anyone. That why they call it fishing and not catching.
3 of 6 clients were sick very rough ocean never touched a pole. All fish over 100 pounds belonged to the boat. Paid to be a slave
It was s great experience! We caught a 200 pound Marlin!
I took a full-day shared charter with Waikiki Sport Fishing on August 6th, 2026, and had an absolute blast from start to finish. There were 6 anglers total, and this ended up being one of the best fishing experiences I’ve ever had. Before we even left the dock, Captain and the crew did a great job making sure everyone was prepared and understood everything we needed to know. They were extremely informative throughout the day and kept us updated on what was happening and what to expect. About two hours into the trip, we came across a pod of pilot whales — an incredible bonus and something I certainly wasn’t expecting to see while out fishing. Since this was a shared charter, we each had to pick a card to determine our rod number. About three hours into the trip, one of the rods went off — and it was a 100+ lb Yellowfin Tuna! This was by far the biggest fish I’ve ever fought, and it was an absolute beast. It took a tremendous amount of work, time, and teamwork to get it to the boat. Multiple people got the opportunity to take turns reeling it in, which made the experience even more memorable for everyone. Once we finally got the tuna aboard, the crew immediately took care of it — bonked and bled it, cleaned portions of it, and kept the fish fresh on a bed of ice in the fish hold while we continued trolling. The crew really knew what they were doing and took great care of the catch. Then, during the last hour of the trip, we got a couple more exciting hits. One rod went off, and within about 30 seconds another rod got hit. The captain and folks on the upper deck spotted that it was a Blue Marlin. Unfortunately, it spit the hook before we could get it engaged. Having a Marlin on the boat too would have been the perfect ending, but honestly, after landing that huge tuna, I wasn’t complaining! One thing that really stood out to me was that we were the only boat I saw that had fish that entire morning/afternoon, and we came back with a massive Yellowfin Tuna. Owner Nick is a very reasonable guy, and it’s clear that he has put together a great crew that knows these waters extremely well. I also really appreciate that Waikiki Sport Fishing offers anglers the opportunity to take home a significant portion of their catch (depending on the size of the fish), which is something not every charter offers. They also offer cleaning, filleting, and vacuum-packing services for an additional fee, which is incredibly convenient if you want to bring your catch home and enjoy it later. If you’re visiting Honolulu and enjoy fishing, don’t miss the opportunity to get out on the water with Waikiki Sport Fishing. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just looking for an unforgettable Hawaiian adventure, this is absolutely worth doing. Huge thanks to Nick and the entire crew for an incredible day. I’ll definitely be back! 🎣🐟🌊
My daughter and I went on a 1/2 charter and had a great time. My daughter caught a 20 lb skipjack- her first ever deep-sea fishing. Nick and Rob were the best. They took us to the right spot, helped my daughter reel in the fish, and cut and cleaned it for us after we got back on land. What a memorable day!
Great trip, great captain and deck hand. I would advise going for the 6 or 8 trip for more catch opportunities
Great experience. Guides were very nice and knowledgeable. I got a big Ahi so it was a good day.
Great time with a great crew. Dante and Rob were the right amount of professional while also being laid back! Never guaranteed a fish but if you adventure the cabin and hang out with the captain you’re guaranteed a great time and some knowledge! Would do it again mind you might have to do some cardio before booking onto another tuna because that was the fight of my life!
We had a fantastic experience with Waikiki Sportfishing! We took our 11-year-old daughter, and there were two other kids on the boat as well. We booked a 4-hour trip and ended up catching a beautiful 28-pound wahoo. Captain Dante worked hard the entire trip, chasing bird activity and different swells to put us on fish. It was clear he knew exactly what he was doing and was determined to give everyone the best opportunity for a successful day on the water. Sam, the deckhand, was equally impressive—knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and great with both the adults and kids. They kept everyone engaged, answered questions, and made the trip fun from start to finish. Beyond catching fish, we really enjoyed the overall fishing experience and learning from the crew. Dante and Sam were professional, entertaining, and clearly passionate about what they do. We would definitely book with Waikiki Sportfishing again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great day of fishing in Hawaii!
Over priced, very little chance of catching fish. Captain and crew put lures on and drove around for six hours with the same lures never changing or changing tactic.
We had an excellent experience with Waikiki Sport Fishing. Captain Dante, Rob the deckhand, and Chase the 2nd mate made the whole trip feel smooth, professional, and genuinely fun from start to finish. 🌊🎣 The crew worked hard the entire time, stayed positive, helped everyone on board, and made sure we had a great experience out on the water. You can tell they know exactly what they’re doing and really enjoy fishing. The highlight of the trip was landing an amazing mahi-mahi. Definitely a memory worth framing. The boat was clean, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the crew kept the energy high all day. If you’re looking for a deep sea fishing charter in Honolulu with a hardworking crew and a great vibe, I highly recommend this team. Mahalo to Captain Dante, Rob, and Chase for an unforgettable day on the ocean. 🤙
Absolutely great time. Crew was friendly and very helpful. Caught a 4 foot Wahoo, loved it. Highly recommended
Hung out with some cool guys and caught a nice fish. What else could you ask for?
Only couple hours of fishing for the half day, too over priced. Also we did not catch, anything seemed like they were just trying to make the time go by.
The start was promising, caught one Mahi Mahi on a 3/4 day trip. No other fish caught. Sometimes your on the fish and then nothing, always a gamble. I still had fun. Great crew, and had fun
Captain and crew were competent and friendly, the whole thing was very well managed. It was my first time on this kind of fishing trip and I had a great time.
Great crew with Rico, Rob and Trae. Knowledgeable of the local area. No fish...but great hunting for fish...this is what fishing is all about ....oohya
The captian and his wife were amazing & really made the fishing trip fun. We unfortunately did NOT catch anything, but overall it was a nice boat ride.
The crew did not try anything different. After trolling out for 3 hrs and not get a knock down. Change the lures change the spread try something to make it happen. I get it, it’s fishing but make every effort to catch some fish. The boat was having mechanical problems. Not only did we not catch any fish we got back an hr late. Not a good experience.
I attempted to reach out via email to express my concerns prior to this review, however I have not heard back in over a week, and have followed up multiple times. TDLR; Don't book if you're interested in learning, or catching anything. Joined with my dad and partner, we were expecting to have a great 4 hour experience with an "expert charter fishing company" and "experienced fishing captains and crew", however that was not our experience. As stated on your website, the captain and crew were expected to utilize "the ocean's currents, seabirds and deep water ledges" during our experience to hunt for fish, however at the beginning of our charter, our crew informed us that our captain was "really good" at using just the birds to locate fish, and that is what we would be doing the entire time. Additionally, we were not provided with "many opportunities to reel in big game fish", as we were not provided with bait or variety of tackle as stated on the website. In fact, not only were we not provided with bait, they used up our time to catch bait fish, then they didn't use a single fish for our charter. Furthermore, after reading about the Renegade on the website, our group was very excited about the "Shimano Saragosa spinning/jigging reels", as jigging can be one of the best ways to hunt a fish, however the lures that were used only sat on the surface of the water for our entire trip, again, with no live bait. The one fish we managed to hook was a 10lb. barracuda that they tossed back into the water, and did not even give us the time of day before they went back up to the bridge. I feel very frustrated, disappointed, and lied to. It was our family's first trip to Hawaii and first fishing charter. We are very understanding of the way fishing goes, and though we were hopeful we would catch something, we are not disappointed that we did not, rather we are disappointed with the lack of professionalism and care during our experience today. When spending nearly $1000 and 4 hours with a crew that is not even putting forth any effort, it is hard to walk away with any positive feelings. Half the time we were out, our deckhand was up on the bridge talking to our captain, neither of which could be bothered to actually speak to us, help us learn, or simply throw some bait on the lines. Overall, more than anything, I am hopeful you take this feedback to help future customers who fall for the presentation put forth in your website. Unfortunately, as my father is aging, this was our family's last opportunity to have a fishing experience, and I am beyond disappointed at the amount of time and money we wasted this morning. I hope you do more to address this issue than just refunding me, as you have not just taken my money, but my time.
Good crew and Captain was funny and entertaining. Caught no fish. The water can be a ruff ride so consider your ability to handle motion sickness.
Good boat, great crew, but unfortunately the fish didn’t come out to play. Highly recommended. Thanks Jackson & Nico.
6 hours 350.00 per person, zero fish, plus the captain complained about the tip. Stay away from this charter. There is a reason their rating is mediocre Waste of money and time.
The experience was one to remember. The captain and fishing expert were both very skilled and professional. I enjoyed the scenic views and being on the water even though we didn’t catch anything. My one complaint was that we were sent out even though I believe the water was too rough. 3 of the 5 fishers got sick and the fishing expert even said it was too rough. I also figured the day was going to be a bust just by the fact we were the only boat trying to fish in the conditions. I still think everyone on board did the best they could to make the experience a good one.
Amazing captain and mate made the trip a very good time sadly we didn't catch anything have to remember it's a big ocean the crew did the best they could including changing lures I would defiantly go back again and highly recommend the company and the renegade vessel.
It was a assume trip I sighed up for a 3/4 day on a Sunday it got cancelled due to not enough people and went on a half day on Saturday and got my first Marlin 95.6lb captain Dallas and crew were on key I would definitely go again next year we ended up going a bit longer than a 3/4day
350 per person for only a 3/4 day charter. One person caught a fish on the way back out of 6 people. At least other places offer discounts for future bookings if you couldn’t catch anything. 2100 bucks made off 6 people. No live bait only trolling the water for 6 hours. And they have the audacity to say they work for tips. Nice meme. Tip for what? Low effort bait? Getting as many people on a charter so that there’s a high chance you don’t catch something? Nah I’m good. Don’t make my mistake. Do your research on where the fish are during your time here. And find a fishing charter that actually cares and puts effort in.
The captain was really nice but we were out for a while and we only got one bite. There were six of us total on the boat. The boat was decent size and clean. We were very disappointed to not catch anything after paying so much money.
Daughter reeling in an Ono fish. Very exciting and wonderful experience. Also knowing that the fish will be shared with families so it is not wasted
It sucked!!! Will never book here again Just an expensive boat ride Didmt even get to touch a fishing pole
The crew were great. They had a great setup, were knowledgeable and tried really hard to get us some fish.
Most of us got seasick. It was an expensive boat ride. Not even a bite. Just trolling with jigs for 8 hrs. Was a bummer
2 hits and 1 catch for 6 people for over 6 hours. My family had no chance to hold even a fishing rod.
I booked this trip for my 2 sons. They had a great time on the GOLDEN DRAGON with Capt Eric, who they LOVED. The crew even took the time to cut up the catch for them. When we go back, we'll definitely be looking to book with him again.
It was a high priced boat ride. No electronics on board to locate fish. Just cast some jigs out and hope for the best type fishing. Most sportsfishing captins pride themselves on the productivity of their boat. Not here. Granted the service was good. The goal for me was to catch fish. Not a history lesson.
Nice trip on ocean, guides wers freindly as were other guest. Wish we caught a fish, but a good experience anyway.
It was our first time deep sea fishing and they make you feel very comfortable straight away. It is so exciting knowing a big fish can bite any moment.
Captain Eric and crew was very knowledgeable and hands on. The trip was more than I expected. I strongly recommend.
This is a boat ride for 8 hours. Cost is way too high for what you get and don't expect any fishing!
Booked a trip for noon. Boat showed up on time but the “Captain” informed us he was not going to leave until 1pm and told us to wait around. He was quite nonchalant about it, took no responsibility and blamed “schedulers.” Once we finally departed, The trip was just ok. We got a few fish early but spent the last half trolling the same area over and over - where there were no fish. Poor experience- wouldn’t recommend.
Exciting beautiful day with a knowledgeable hard working couple. Thank you for the memories The Mahi Mahi were beautiful.
Small boat for 6 ppl. The 1st mate was a chain smoker. Even cleaning the finish at the end he was smoking
It was fun. We expected to be able to cast out and try different things but instead, the line was casted out for us and we just sat and waited for a bite. It’s definitely not like actual fishing.
Awesome fish on a half day charter, captain and crew woman were friendly and helpful. Hours of boat ride followed by long minutes of playing a 147 lb and 132 lb Ahi. Just remember your dramamine.
We departed 40 minutes after schedule. Good thing we didn’t have any dinner reservations or adventures after scheduled. One of the crew men smoked cigarettes while aboard. Thought both were inconsiderate. They were polite crew and really tried catching any fish.
The trip was interrupted because they had to return for fuel after an hour out. That caused a change of destinations and a late return to port. Only one fish caught and most disappointing that no discount was offered.
The ride was rough because of the choppy waters but even with the choppy waters it was a fun experience! The crew was amazing and they both tried so hard to make sure we caught something! 100% recommend this team they were absolutely wonderful
Amazing experience as our first time deep-sea fishing. Crew was knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely go again with these guys!!
We booked a 3/4 day shared charter out of Honolulu. Caught a mahi and had another mahi and two marlin on the line. Very attentive mate and captain, they were timely and looking for fish for us. Didn’t know that you gave 1/2 catch to captain and anything over 200lbs goes to captain? I’ve never fished in Hawaii before but none of my other fishing charter trips have done that when I went out of Florida keys or Costa Rica.
