Captain Cook Reef Snorkeling Of Kealakekua Bay

My Mom and I had a blast! Mom didn't want to snorkel but enjoyed the boat ride and seeing the sights! I did snorkel and it was awesome! Are crew were friendly, helpful and funny! Jordan and Kiwame (sp?) made the trip perfect! Kiwame even took pics and video to send us. Jordan called me when I was waiting at the wrong meet spot, and sent a pin to get me to the right parking area. Top notch!

Great crew and boat. This boat has a roof over the seating, providing shade when the sun is beating down as well as a flush toilet on board! Snorkel gear was in great condition. Lunch consisted of nice sandwiches and fresh pineapple. Snacks and beverages were available throughout the day. Most importantly, saw a variety of fish while snorkeling. Crew also took photos of us for us.

We went on the 4:30 snorkeling tour with Lucas and Captain David. Both were super knowledgeable and sweet. It was gorgeous, not crowded at all and beautiful to experience. It was wonderful. I would highly recommend and it was definitely worth the price. We are going to check out the food recommended by David next!!

The crew was great and very helpful, the captain filled us in on history of the area which was cool to hear about.

First off (sorry) I’m poor with names. Captain (99.9999%) sure Jayden and his crew were amazing. We booked the 8an morning tour so we’d have the rest of the day available. However due to 16 year old teenager arrived 5 minutes late. Luckily other people were still checking in. We tried to phone but only had a UK number not a direct number which may of been an issue if everyone else was booked in. Besides that the check in was easy little chat with the captain and we were directed to the boat. Jayden started off with a briefing and away we went. Crisps, water and sprite were available on the way. We arrived in Captain cook bay in around 30 minutes. A little briefing on what to do and not to do in the bay. Howe some clown (me) didn’t listen and attempted to climb up to see the monument. After being whistled I realised. The swim is around 50 yards to the pristine coral. Fish everywhere. Too many to mention. Nearly 2 hours in the bay snorkelling was allowed. The boat had a slide and diving, jumping, bombing etc off the top deck. Food was abound. Plenty to eat. Ciabatta with chicken, cheese and others fillings which I didn’t know. Very fresh and very tasty. Pickled gherkins and dips to go with it. There was lots and lots of them so nobody went short. They just kept putting more and more out. There was pineapple too which I was informed was very nice. I missed out on it as I was too busy snorkelling. I’m guessing if I asked there would have been some available. The ride back Jayden stopped a few times to give us some facts about the bays, wildlife, historical and cultural information. I found it very informative. I would highly recommend this trip as it was excellent. Music was nice and chilled too. In the water one of the only things I didn’t see what a turtle. However on arrival ung back to the harbour Jayden gave us instructions on exactly where to find them. Best part of that was it was a 5 minute walk. We seen 4 in the bay he directed us to. Final thing, as we turned up late I parked in the wrong area and received a $40 dollar fine. Had we been in time I could have read the signs. Our fault but we didn’t let it spoil a great morning out.

This was the perfect snorkeling experience! Our captain, Bruce, was very knowledgeable about the history of the island as well as the ocean wildlife. We were able to snorkel for about 2 hours and had a tasty lunch while in the bay. A bonus for our kids was that the boat came equipped with a diving platform and slide, which they took advantage of. Shipmates Bruno and Jordan were very kind and helpful.

Beautiful ride to see the whole side of the island to the bay. The captain was very knowledgeable about the island. The food was good. They spent a lot of time in the Captain Cook snorkeling area. You got to jump off the boat or use the slide, which was a lot of fun for the family. He gave us a good view of the waves coming back from the cove. I would highly recommend this tour.

Be on time so you don’t hold up everyone else’s experience. Tip your crew, they are amazing! Worth the time

Such a fun adventure and our two crew members will live in our memories forever they were both so good. I’m a bit older (50) and everyone feels younger and they two young guys were hilarious and making us all smile and laugh all day.

Amazing experience with Aleo and Kelly. Saw some amazing spinner dolphins on our way to Captain Cook saw some beautiful fish and learned about the history of the area. Me and my family had an unforgettable time!

Had a great time on the Hang Loose Captain Cook Bay snorkeling trip. We saw a variety of fish and corals and the staff were super friendly. My family had a lot of fun jumping from the second story of the boat into the ocean and with the water slide.

This was an incredible experience! Booking was easy and the captain and crew were amazing! We saw fish, dolphins, caves and Captain Bryce shared stories about the history of the island and this trip was 10/10! The lunch and snack were fabulous too! This experience was awesome. The swells caused a change of plans and we were given the option to reschedule or cancel for a full refund. They also told us they could take us to a different cove and we opted for that. They made it so fun and were so patient with the kids.

Great snorkeling trip, everything you want and expect for this kind of experience. Went the extra mile to find dolphins for the group.

Wonderful excursion! The snorkeling is great, the boat was comfortable, and the guides were a lot of fun. Even got the opportunity to hang my camera in the water and get some good dolphin shots!

Crew, equipment & food all nice. The snorkling was cool and sightseeing along the shore was interesting as well. Sad surprise was that the crew allowed a half dozen teenagers on to the boat to use the slide while at the bay.😠 It would have been nice to be able to rent a Go Pro to take pics/videos, that would have added more value to the experience.

My whole family had an incredible time from age 10 to 80!! We are all novice snorkelers but the crew made it so easy. Any question or need was addressed promptly, with respect and a smile. The boat ride was comfortable and stops on the way back were great!

Captain Bryce and the crew are so funny, knowledgeable and friendly! Great music, food, points of interest explored, and beautiful snorkeling. The water was so clear and we saw spinner dolphins and Pilot whales!

The experience was amazing. The reef was beautiful. We also got to see a pod of dolphins playing in the water. The crew also went above and beyond helping my 75 yr old mother snorkel for her 1st time. I would highly recommend this snorkeling excursion.

Excellent experience! Everything from the boat ride to the snorkeling and swimming in the turquoise blue water was really fun. The guides were funny and helpful, gave an informative boat tour after the snorkeling experience as well. Icing on the cake - we got to see a pod of spinner dolphins on our way back!

Great tour. Snorkeling location was great. We also saw lots of dolphins and a whale on the boat ride to the snorkeling. Guides were amazing! Highly recommend. Bring along towels and sunscreen. Snorkeling gear and food (snacks, lunch, drinks) were provided.

We had so much fun as a family of 9 on this tour! They sent a text on the morning of our tour with a pin on exactly where to meet which was very helpful! The boat was large so all 25- ish of us could spread out. They drove about 45 minutes out to the snorkeling spot with one short stop for some island facts and to see some wild dolphins along the way, but they played music most of the time which was very relaxing. We were all offered fins, snorkel, life jacket, pool noodle to help us feel comfortable snorkeling. We saw a variety of beautiful fish and coral. We were in the snorkeling spot for a while so no one felt rushed and had ample time to adjust to the water. There was even time for jumping off the boat and going down the slide. For lunch they served a variety of sandwiches, fresh fruit, pickles, chips, and drinks. The ride back was just as relaxing and beautiful. The boat crew was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable! Everyone in my family had a great day exploring because of this tour!

Very stable and comfortable boat (Hang Loose) took us to Cook Bay in about 35- minutes. Along the way we saw Humpbacks and Dolphins up close. Crew was very fun, personable and professional. (Aidan and Leolo) Snorkeling gear was provided and in excellent condition. Water was warm & clear with lots to see. Some of the best snorkeling I’ve experienced. Many different fish species and colorful coral. Highly recommend this trip.

The snorkel tour was beautiful! The weather couldn’t have been any better which made seeing the reef spectacular. The crew was so fun and made sure all of us had a great time. The food provided was fresh and the perfect amount to fill us up after snorkeling. The boat had a slide and jumping deck which was a lot of fun! We all had a great time and definitely recommend this as a must do for the Big Island.

Elayo, Kelly, and Mano were excellent guides. They showed us several things to and from our snorkeling spot including a pod of pilot whales and a humpback whale. They made sure we were comfortable in the water and had quality equipment for us to use. The snacks and lunch were enjoyed by all. We liked that it was a smaller group of people, maybe 20 of us instead of 40-50 like some of the other boats.

Well organized trip with great staff. They made sure we got to see interesting things each way while getting us to the snorkeling site early.

We had a really good time on this trip! Kelly and his partner, I forgot how to spell his name but it begins with an “E”, were knowledgeable and fun. They took us to the Captain Cook monument where we snorkeled and swam. We had a light lunch and snacks. On the way back we got a cool history lesson about the area and got to learn about some geography of the coast. The team pointed out dolphins and we saw a few whales as well. We highly recommend this tour.

Everything was amazing. The deckhands and crew were incredibly caring and looked after us. They made sure we had a great time. We saw all types of sea life and even saw a whale. It was amazing.

Trip of a lifetime! I was lucky enough to do the Captain Cook snorkel trip AND the Night time Manta tour. I had Kelly as our main guide both trips and he was professional yet funny. Loved how much he knew about the island and made sure to tell us little facts along the way. Kiwame was extremely sweet and helpful, she noticed I had glasses and gave me a pair of prescription goggles which was such a game changer! Elayo and Kala’e were deckhands for the Manta tour and they were very helpful with instructions all while adding some humor for a fun time. These mantas legit come right up to you while feeding on plankton! If you’re in Kona I 1000% recommend these tours you’re guaranteed to have some amazing encounters all with great company!

Kuamne and Ula are fabulous 👍🏼! I got to see lots of fish. Even though I didn't like the snorkeling gear, I still had fun because there was one for me that I liked. 😅 And I got to see a needle fish! And I got to see butterfly fish 🐟 🐠 ! And they had snacks!And we got to see an eel. And I got to see a black fish with a red fin and it had orange on it. We even saw 🐬 🐬 dolphins. And it was super fun 😁

Whether you are traveling solo or with family and friends this is a must I am glad I got to experience it though I was traveling solo

Tour guides were awesome, snorkeling was great, but of history about the islands (very cool) and spinner dolphins!
