My husband and I thought it was a great experience! The free alcoholic drinks were good, the food was fantastic, and the staff were so friendly and talented! It was neat to watch the unearthing of the pig. The show was very good and you could tell the performers were embodying the story. Overall was a great time and would probably do again if we're able!

Amazing evening. I was traveling with a friend who had previously been to Hawaii and missed a luau experience. We were so glad we chose to do it this time. Everyone was so absolutely lovely and gracious. I highly recommend!
It was an awesome experience very entertaining and I would love to do it again
In my opinion, this is the best luau on the Big Island. The MC/narrator has a great voice and he speaks loudly and clearly. The musicians are all very talented from the drummers to the guitar and ukulele players to the singers. The dancers are wonderful and so talented and they look like they love what they’re doing. The hosts and hostesses are polite and accommodating. Last, but not least…. The food is delicious!
This was a fantastic show. There are no bad seats in the venue, it is small, but comfortable and have good view of the show. The food was excellent. I love that we got to see the emu pig getting taken out from the pit. The emu pig was also my favorite, moist and flavorful. There are other food choices that was good, but the pig was the star. All the staff was friendly. Did I mentioned the drinks are included and generous pours. Highly recommended and will come back again.
A must do if you are in Hawaii… really good food 🥘 and wonderful experience to see the native dancers and songs. 🏝️🌺🐚
WOW! This was my first luau, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations! I opted for the Aliʻi experience, and it was worth every single penny. From start to finish, the entire evening was incredible! The music, dancing, and entertainment were phenomenal, and the food was absolutely delicious! I especially loved learning about the history and culture—it was beautifully shared and made the experience even more meaningful. The setting was breathtaking, welcoming, and full of that special Hawaiian spirit. And the staff were AMAZING! Everyone was so warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. You could tell they truly cared about making sure everyone had a wonderful time. This was such a fun, memorable, and unforgettable experience. I loved every minute of it and would absolutely do it again!
It almost started to rain so they decided to not host it outside, which is understandable. However, the only options were to attend it inside or reschedule for a time that I would not be here. They would not give me the option to cancel. I opted to do it inside and it was literally a conference room with makeshift stage on it. The tables were set up in ways that you could barely see the stage. I was just very unimpressed and very sad. There was no beach involved no water we had to go outside for the fire show at the end. It was just not worth the money that was spent on it for my honeymoon gift.
It is not worth the money that you pay. We paid $191 apiece. The show lasted less than two hours and they hustle you through the food. Well doing the show. The food was OK but not worth that kind of money.
The show was great. Very informative. I learned a lot about the culture on the Big Island as well a the surrounding islands. The music was fun and the food was delicious.
The luau was absolutely wonderful and entertaining. My husband and I paid for the VIP and we both agreed that was the best way to experience it.
WOW! These people really know how to put on a show. The venue was perfect! Situated right on the beach, we saw the waves and felt the ocean breezes. The food served was fresh and delicious with a variety of healthy options, the buffet seemed to go on forever. The drink options satisfied everyone in our party and the entertainment was fun to watch. The staff were friendly and customer focused. I would recommend this Luau to anyone looking for a fun evening with others, especially a group of 4 or more. I look forward to returning and bringing others along with me. Lastly, the photographers did a great job of capturing our entire party, while providing great quality and reasonably priced photos to take home.
Island Breeze Luau was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our trip! I would 100% recommend it, and if you're deciding whether to upgrade to the VIP package, DO IT. It was completely worth it. The VIP experience made the entire evening so much easier and more enjoyable. We didn't have to wait in the regular line, received a complimentary lei, got in earlier, and had premium seating with our own table for our group. Being admitted earlier also meant getting food and drinks sooner and having more time to enjoy everything happening before the main show. I really felt like the VIP upgrade added a lot to the overall experience. The show itself was fantastic! The performers were incredibly talented, energetic, and entertaining. There was always something happening, and the entire production was beautifully done. My only small criticism would be the food and drinks. The food was okay, but I would have loved a little more variety. The cooked pig was very salty for my taste. The drinks were okay as well, and I personally would have loved an option like Prosecco or another sparkling wine. That being said, none of that took away from the experience. The entertainment, atmosphere, service, and VIP treatment were all above and beyond. I would absolutely attend Island Breeze Luau again and highly recommend it!
Our experience at the Lūʻau was enjoyable overall, but unfortunately, I felt the cost was too high for the quality and overall value of the experience. The atmosphere and cultural presentation were nice, and the staff were friendly. However, considering the price, I expected a much higher level of food quality, entertainment, and overall experience. There are many activities and attractions on the island, so at this price point, the Lūʻau needs to provide an exceptional experience to feel worthwhile. I would recommend reviewing the pricing and ensuring that the quality of the food, entertainment, service, and overall experience matches what guests are paying. While we appreciated the effort that went into the event, the value simply did not match the cost for us.
Very nice! Pig was fabulously delicious!!. Great food, drinks, and desserts. Show was great as well!!
Love the history of Hawaii and the dances and entertainment, the dinner was awesome. The views were breathtaking.
The experience was absolutely wonderful. The buffet dinner was delicious. The dancers were awesome. The views were breathtaking .
We had a great time at this luau! We had three generations and we all enjoyed it, from the youngest to the oldest. The food was very good, the atmosphere was wonderful, the views were amazing and the performances were very entertaining.
I loved this luau experience because it was a little smaller than other venues so it was very easy to see the stage (& we were all the way in the back). This was my hubby’s first luau and it did not disappoint! We loved the fact that they had a delicious luau buffet, and we could go back for more if we wanted. 😋 They also had an open bar! The performers / musicians were awesome! Loved the fire show, as well as the beautiful dancing and the warrior performance as well! I would definitely recommend it! 🌺
The food was bad, experience was bad, not worth the money
Lovely experience, enjoyed the stories and dances. Food was well prepared. Note it is outdoor seating
So worth it. Dinner and show. Food was great. Drink, I didn't like the punch for the kids. Had some weird after taste. But it was a good day. My son and mom enjoyed it. We all loved it. Good performance.
We had a nice time and the food was pretty good! Would recommend.
We love Island Breeze Luau it is our second time to attend one year apart. First with our family that was moving to Hawaii and this time with friends visiting. It is such a great way to appreciate the diversity, beauty and power of the culture and the atmosphere is wholesome totally family friendly. The food was enjoyable and fun. Everyone worked very hard and it showed. So glad they are doing this.
I loved the entire experience. It was very entertaining. My favorite part was the singing and dancing. They displayed the entire in ground cooked pig and unveiled it, then explained the cooking process. The food was delicious. It was inclusive & intimate and I enjoyed it all! This is a great event for families, date night, friend groups, and all!!! You will not be disappointed.
Was lovely and they accommodated my celiacs. Wish show were a little longer but it was great. My son had fun.
The food was great. Entertainment was excellent
Bait and Switch – Avoid This Overpriced, Indoor Disappointment!Save your money and book elsewhere. We paid a premium price expecting a beautiful, historic oceanfront luau, but because they didn’t have enough people signed up, they moved us into a small, dark, indoor banquet room. We completely missed out on the outdoor ambiance, couldn't see the arrival of the royal canoe boat, and missed out on many of the promised cultural elements. To make matters worse, the quality of what they delivered was a total rip-off for the money they charge. The food was completely tasteless—the poke was old and soft, and the lomi lomi salmon was clearly cheap, frozen fish. On top of that, the drinks were incredibly watery and served in cheap plastic cups. Had I known they would force us indoors on a beautiful night due to low booking numbers, I would have canceled immediately. This was absolutely not worth it.
It was fun fun fun. This is my 3rd birthday luau and this is one of the best so far. Very delicious food and great entertainment especially the fire dance. They also showed how to cook the pork from underground or something. I could barely see because there were tall people in front of me. Still enjoyed it.
Fun and easy. Food was good and quickly available. Show was very nice. Even had mac and cheese and nuggets for kids.
Our flight was canceled the day before and our rescheduled flight arrived just as the luau was starting!! I was very impressed with the fact that the tour company called a day ahead of time to confirm our arrival. When we mentioned that we were going to be late they offered another day, but we weren’t available. When we arrived, they sat us immediately. The food was really delicious and fresh, and there was plenty of it, the entertainment was well done, the music was very authentic. Super colorful costumes and I love the story of how the Hawaiian culture came to be.🌺🤙🏼
Excellent experience, food was very good and show was outstanding! Loved the history of the Islands and where the names originated! Again, outstanding dancers and musicians!!
The luau is at the king Kamaheha Hotel in downtown Hialua-Kona. The location seems very vague in the description. But it is on the bay and is a lovely setting. I was looking forward to the “King” coming ashore but the sea was too rough. That was the only disappointment for me. My family of eight with a two, seven and nine year old children all enjoyed the show, the music and the dancing with the fire throwing at the end a great climax. The food was very good as well. They have an open bar, very weak Maitais and another bar for purchase. You must also purchase a lei if you want one.
My husband and I were staying at the Courtyard by Marriott, so we decided to give this luau a try considering it was in the same hotel. Overall, it was a great experience, but a few things to note: they don’t give leis (you have to purchase them for $10), they cram you into long tables (the table we were seated at had a terrible view of the stage; we ended up standing for a majority of the performances), the food runs out so we only got one proper serving, and it’s hard to see the canoe entrance part of the show. The highlights: the performers were fantastic and showcased dances from different islands (Fiji, New Zealand, Tonga, Hawaii, etc). Loved the storytelling aspect. The pork was delicious, but ran out quickly, so made sure you get enough the first time around. The drinks were good, and the entire experience lasted around three hours. It can also get pretty heated in the event area, so dress accordingly!
This experience shared not only the beauty of the hula dancers, but it gave important insights & information about the Polynesian & Hawaiian culture and lifestyle. The food was absolutely delicious too!
Had a great evening at the Island Breeze Luau. This was my first time to see a Luau and friends told me they had seen several and this was the best. The evening started with watching them pull out a whole pig roasted in the underground oven called Imu (and served at the buffet). Then, you see the "king" and his royal party arrive by boat. There was a short hula dance lesson which I also enjoyed. All the movements have meanings, from the fish swimming in the ocean to pulling the net to catch the fish. And finally the dances begin! It was interesting to hear the history, the background of the various dances, the colorful costumes, their expressions and the music. The fire dance at the end was awesome. The food was great, all the staff were friendly, we really had a wonderful evening!
The experience was smooth. There’s a slight wait in line for the Luau inside a Courtyard By Marriott to begin with. Your parking (regular, not valet) gets validated for free. Unlike other Luaus, we could go back to the food table for seconds. I didn’t know that at first and piled up my plate, lol. The dancers, the host explaining the dances and significance, the dance alongs, the Kata dance addition to the typical Luau dance and the food of course were all wonderful. Overall an enjoyable experience!!! Right by the water, so the breeze sets in quickly though be prepared for some humid/muggy weather if you’re going in summer for the first hour before the breeze kicks in. I’d definitely recommend it!!
Our family had a great time at the luau. The food was very good, the setting was lovely, the entertainment was excellent, and the open bar was a treat!
The Luau was exceptionally great! The food was delicious and it was a very organized event.
Great time had by all, shared history of the islands. Best luau we have been to by far. Would highly recommend.
Having been to several luaus on various islands, I can honestly say this was my least favorite. It wasn’t terrible, but it felt disorganized from beginning to end. The timing of everything seemed off. While they were explaining the history and presenting the royal court, people were still getting food from the buffet, so it was hard to know when everyone was actually supposed to stop and pay attention. They also had activities like Hawaiian games and temporary tattoos available before the show, but those were packed up surprisingly early. The open bar was another disappointment. I don’t drink alcohol, so I asked for a mocktail and was met with a very confused look. I ended up having to walk the bartender through making one by asking if they had grenadine and Coke. Considering so many restaurants around the Big Island now offer thoughtful mocktail menus, I was surprised there weren’t any nonalcoholic options prepared. The food was decent but nothing memorable. The fish was a bit dry, and overall nothing really stood out. Unfortunately, it started raining heavily during the show. While they did hand out plastic ponchos, the emcee never acknowledged what was happening. She continued as if nothing had changed while everyone sat there getting soaked. It made the whole experience feel awkward, especially since our plates were literally filling with rainwater by the end. We left as soon as the performance ended because of the weather instead of sticking around. The dancers themselves were very talented, and the location is absolutely beautiful. That said, the show felt rushed. I’ve attended other luaus where the fire performance happened after dark, which made it much more dramatic and immersive. Here it was still fairly light outside, so some of that magic was lost. One final frustration was the photo they took of our family when we arrived. There was a QR code on the table to purchase it, but because of the downpour we forgot to scan it before leaving. I emailed afterward asking if I could still buy it, but never received a response. Lastly, charging an extra $10 for a lei felt a little cheap considering tickets were around $200 each. At that price point, I expected a lei to be included. Overall, the performers and scenery were the highlights, but the organization, weather handling, food, lack of mocktail options, and poor follow-up left us disappointed.
Awesome Show and meal. They did a great job explaining and showing the Polynesian Culture. We were a 20 member multi-generational family ages 7-72. Everyone one was well entertained and they held our attention for over 2 hours. From hands on activities to seeing the pig come out of the ground.
Terrible it rained out the entire show, my food was destroyed i didn't eat nor could I watch the show because the rain poured down all over my phone, this show should have been canceled!! The performance was poorly put together, the hotel was terrible nasty attitudes from staff. Go somewhere else for Huha this was not worth the money
The show was nice but it is held outdoors and open air no protection.. it began to sprinkle, we were the last table to go up for food. It began pouring rain, the food we had on our plate was getting wet. They passed out plastic rain panchos. So they should advise it’s open air and weather conditions can vary.
Great experience. Good food. It rained and we had to use ponchos. But it created a rainbow and that was also beautiful. It could hace been a bit longer.
We have been to one other Luau on Oahu, and I think we lucked into a really special experience on that first one. This one was good, but I can’t give five stars in comparison. The dancers were great. There were pre-show activities for kids, which was nice, but the lines stacked up fast. The food was decent. The visibility from all the tables seemed good. Overall, we had a good time! But if you’re ever on Oahu, check out the one that’s at the the Sea Life Park on the west side of the island. Lots more people, but phenomenal show.
My family and I had a wonderful time at the Island Breeze Luau. Delicious food, excellent service and outstanding entertainment. Definitely recommend if you are going to visit the Big Island.
Food was better than other luaus that we attended. Staff very friendly. Show was great.
Great food and lovely show. Also beautiful along the water.
Great meal and incredible show by very talented people. It was very easy to get parking, just follow the directions they provide. Once inside, again, they provide easy directions about where to go to register. Once we were in the right place, registration was super easy and we received our lei. Very cool. We were then led outside to the seating area and able to get our picture taken and pick up a Mai tai, dark or light rum. We were then directed to our table and enjoyed our drinks and some chips and salsa. Very shortly, a show host explained how things were going to work and everything got started. We were led to get food, there was a lot of food and all of it was Hawaiian. If we’re a great chance to try some things that might typically be outside the box. In the meantime, various parts of the show began as well, the royal court, the dinner blessing, dancing, etc. once the eating was done, the full show started. The dancers are very talented and I can only imagine the time they put in to prepare for the show. Lots of energy and fun all around.
