Big Island: Hawaii Loa Luau

The luau was wonderful from start to finish. Open bar with a great selection. Entertainment throughout was very good & food was superb. So much of everything & all 5 in my party thought it was fabulous!

Me and my husband booked this Luau being on our honeymoon and boy are we glad we did! it was an experience we will never forget. Food was absolutely delicious and so flavorful, drinks were wonderful and the view did not disappoint. Seeing the performers faces light up truly brought something special to their performances. What a talented group of people! Book this luau!!!! Also not to mention we came from Hilo, because this specific Luau was highly rated. So i am grateful we made the drive, completely worth it.

Wonderful luau! I have been to a few luaus and this one was done right. It was very classy and the food was exceptional. This is at the Fairmont so it was exceptionally convenient for us while staying at Ka’Milo. We were able to drive our golf carts to the hotel and the bellman valeted our golf carts for us for free. The luau was just long enough, the entertainment was a step above the rest and the activities at the beginning were engaging for all ages. The location afforded some wonderful sunset photos with the family. Overall, this was a highlight of our trip. I would go again.

The food is grreat buffet style. But the location is not beach front, you do haVe access to the rocky beach. The show is interactive and educational.

Phenomenal food and show! Best food I’ve ever had at any sort of buffet. I loved that they did additional games and (fake) tattoos before dinner! Made it extra special for my kids and was fun for me as an adult too. Very family friendly experience.

This is an amazing show! The dancers are incredible, the hostess is enchanting and tells you beautiful stories about the islands of Hawaii. There is music, dancing, and the food is delicious. Food is clearly marked regarding allergens.

Rachel was nothing short of AMAZING. Knowledgeable and kind and fun all day long. She was genuinely interested in everyone’s personal stories, and made the whole experience. What a gem!!!

This is an excellent Luau and we really felt like they welcomed us and we felt like the whole experience exuded “ohana”. They did a great job of creating a communal experience through law games, recognition of anniversaries, birthdays, etc. and the meal and storytelling / dancing did not disappoint. We were hesitant to bring our 3 and 5 year old kids but they LOVED it and watched the entire show. Upon entry we had our family picture taken, it was a nice touch! We were impressed with the quality, so much so that we bought a digital copy, our only professional family photo on the island 😍. The welcome drinks were sweet and our children were delighted to have something as fancy looking as our cocktails. We were seated at a table with 2 other families (perhaps intentionally?) and it was really special - our kids hung out all evening and we left the Luau with friends. There were not too many young children there but I think the intentional seating made us feel like this was worth it for our kids. Then came lawn games, everyone including adults partook and it was a great way to meet other people. The dinner tasted delicious and there was something for everyone. Food was plentiful and there was no need to worry, I’m sure they had plenty of left overs. The desserts were yummy and we tried 1 of everything. The story telling and dancing were beautiful. Our whole family was entertained. The hostess was a fantastic MC and performer. And all of the dancers were really impressive. Logistics: we appreciated the free valet parking and of course tipped on the way out. The bathrooms were super close and sunset was just behind the venue. (It is a long lawn so don’t expect to be at the ocean). Next time would bring a hat for the beginning, sunglasses necessary until nightfall, it’s on grass so wear sandals or flats, no heels or else you can plan to be uncomfortable. We have done other luaus in the past (when we didn’t have kids)and this is by far the best And would have loved it with or without kids! I highly recommend this experience and should we find ourselves here again, we will 10000% do it again. Every seat is a good seat and it was totally worth the price point - it definitely delivered.

The food and drink was great. The fire knife dancing was awesome. Overall a great time to be had by all.

Very well organized, excellent food, fun and festive entertainment. Show was on 7/4. Would have liked to see fireworks.

We have been to different luaus in Hawai’i and I would say this is average. The event felt more like a catered party than a luau. There is no imu pit. There is no photo opportunity with the performers. The outfits were underwhelming. For the cost of these luaus, I expected a lot more. Amazing dances and entertainment and good food. Our favorite was the bread, the lava cake, and the kalua pork. We really loved the games too!

We enjoyed our evening immensely! We arrived at 5:30pm - parking is free at the hotel with validation at the luau. Then there are drinks and some activities (mostly for kids - a game and temporary tattoos) for the first hour as the sun sets (wear sunscreen). Walk to the golf course which is steps away for incredible views (take beautiful pictures here while the sun sets). Then the buffet opens - so many options including salads, seafood and a whole kalua pig! The staff are very kind and efficient so each table is called up separately so there's no long wait once it's your turn. Entertainment by a live band/singers plus a short hula lesson, a fire knife dancer, and many performers. Dessert was a highlight (we recommend the coconut cream haupia!) Unlimited food and drinks (open bar) plus excellent show. Evening ended around 8:15pm. My whole family loved it (two seniors, four adults, and five kids ranging from age 2-15) - it's perfect Hawaiian experience (wear your best Hawaiian attire for nice photos!) Bathrooms very clean and plenty of stalls. Worth the price! Note - I read some reviews mention bugs flying around at dinner - we didn't experience any unwelcome bugs beyond anything normal you would expect in your own backyard if you had food around - the luau staff do a good job of covering food and having mini fans around the food to keep flying insects away. Also read some reviews with disappointing experiences due to rain out - that stinks since this is definitely a good weather experience. Not sure if there is too much to do about that except to check the forecast in advance of booking!

The venue was beautiful and I think the open bar would have made the price worth it, but most of the people in my group were under 21. If you are looking to take cute sunset photos and drink a lot, then I would definitely recommend. However, if you’re coming with anyone under 21, then it’s probably not worth $200 per person. The buffet food was good, especially the fruit, but the food was not hot (it was lukewarm warm at best) because they set it out before the event begins and then you start eating about 30-45 minutes after the start.

It was a well done celebration. Everyone enjoyed it. Kids loved the fire performance. Everyone was very friendly

The show was amazing and the staff were very friendly. The dances were great! Definitely an experience I recommend.

For the money- I was not very impressed. We were taken to table 10 it was full and then moved to the last possible table in the back. Last to eat furthest from stage. Food was like warm at best as the 2nd last table to be released. For over 200.00 a person I don’t know that we found it worth it.

Loved the environment, the beautiful dancers and the calmness and beauty of the host . The food was better than I have heard it could be. If you want salt you may want to bring your own. Ha

Great food, friendly staff loved the show. Went with my family and really loved it! The drinks were phenomenal.

The buffet was awesome and had a wide variety. They offered kids options, vegetarian options and gluten free options. There’s was something for everybody. The drinks are also bottomless, whether you just want juice or if you want an alcoholic drink. The show was definitely entertaining as well. Me and my family were already wanting to go again before we were even done.

The overall experience was amazing. The only downside was the overwhelming number of flying insects—mosquitoes and gnats were everywhere, and it felt like an infestation. Unfortunately, bugs were getting into the food, which made it hard to fully enjoy the experience. That said, the show was incredible!

This was an absolutely amazing show and experience! The food was delicious! If you are looking to book a luau, BOOK THIS ONE! Worth evey penny spent! Our toddler enjoyed it greatly!

Amazing tour! The grounds are gorgeous and the guide did an excellent job being informative about the coffee making process. Can’t wait to try the beans at home.

The Luau was moved inside, apparently due to a chance of rain that evening (weather turned out fine but I understand with Kona low coming through). It was in a large convention style room with few dancers, poor sound system, and felt more like a generic dinner than an exotic Luau. The food was good and the relatively small cast of entertainers did their best, but the indoor setting was so poor that we left early. Not what we signed up (and paid a hefty price) for.

This luau was a great addition to our family vacation! The activities before the event were fun for our 7 year old. There was a large grassy area where our toddlers could run. The food was delicious and plentiful. The show was entertaining for all of us! Would highly recommend. 👍

You will have a decent time but not necessarily what I would call an authentic luau. It does not convey the depth of cultural relevance as other luaus however, it was decent.

This was an exceptional luau from the food, seating, drinks and entertainment! Very nicely done. All of the entertainers were classy and provided a very entertaining show! We paid a little more for Alii package so our seats were front row. That was a nice feature too! Definitely recommend!

Our family had a great time! They started with games and painting activities which the kids enjoyed. The food was fantastic and the open bar was a plus.

Good. But not as good as last year. They seemed to have packed more tables and people in and got rid of the games and interactive activities that the kids enjoyed. All the performers were great, but it’s hard for the crowd to match the hype of the mc for the fire dancers ha ha

Was AWESOME! Fantastic show, food, and view. This luau is a must see. We watched the sunset, explored the beach, had amazing food and drinks and learned so much about Hawaiian culture!

The buffet was amazing! So many dishes, and each one exquisitely prepared. The show was OK, nothing special. I’ve seen better. But I don’t think I’ve ever had better food!

So worth the money, the staff is extremely friendly, so are the new friends that you will meet as visitors to the beautiful island.

We've been to most of the islands and to lots of luau's, but this luau has been the best in every category. The food, open bar and the entertainment was amazing.

This was a great tour. Our guide, Bret, was OUTSTANDING! He was informative, friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond when it came to ensuring we were getting the most out of the tour. We were fortunate to see the volcano begin to fountain, and Bret made sure we had the best vantage point. He even played his ukulele while we enjoyed lunch at the volcano sight. From the coffee plantation to the volcano, waterfalls and scenic overlooks, this tour had it all. We can't thank Bret enough for providing an entertaining tour. Makala Bret!!

I booked this for my family of 10 expecting a 2-3 hr event as indicated at the time of booking. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was done by 7:11pm. While the food was good and the Fire Dancer was the best part of the show, the 1.5hr event did not meet expectations for the price paid.
