Big Island: 9-line Waterfall Zipline Experience

It was my first zip line experience. My husband bailed on going with me last minute, which took a lot of the fun out of the experience for me. The guides did great and they did everything. I got stuck once about 20’ from the landing platform and a guide came quickly to bring me in. It rained the whole time because there was a monsoon, which also made the waterfalls brown. It wasn’t as pretty and pleasant as I hoped it would be.

The helicopter excursion was absolutely amazing!!! The staff and pilot, Jim are incredible, professional and great! Beautiful looking down from above:)

This was such a beautiful place with multiple waterfalls, ocean views, and 9 different zip lines of varying length and elevation. The staff was top notch and took extra measures to ensure our safety. There are plenty of things to do and see besides the zip lines. Highly, highly recommend!

We had an absolute blast during our 9 line zipline experience. It was both of our first times doing zipline. We opted for the go pro (handheld version versus the one on the helmet). I also were normal glasses for my vision and did not strap them down. They fit pretty snug on my face so they did not come off (if you want the straps they sell some for $5 in their gift shop/cafe). Our group only had 4 people total so we were quick with it (9 lines within 1 hr). The instructors were attentive when it came to helping us put on gear and explained the safety briefing short and to the point. Each line was different elevations and lengths so it made the thrill different each time. You have 3-4 instructors around during your experience if you were to need anything. Highly recommend especially if this is your first time doing it.

We had an amazing time ziplining at Umauma Falls! Our party of five came to celebrate my daughter’s birthday for the second time in row year at the same zipling experience, and it turned into such a fun and memorable adventure. The scenery and waterfalls were breathtaking, and the experience felt safe and exciting. A perfect way to celebrate a special day in Hawaii! Highly recommend! 🌿🌺

I would give 4.5 stars. It was a beautiful day, scenery was beautiful, guides were very experienced and I felt very safe. Overall Zipline experience was very efficient - so efficient that it was lacking character and personality. This is our 3rd time zip lining on an Hawaiian Island. Our other experiences were much more personal with the guides and group - previously the guides were talking and joking with us, having fun, encouraging talking among the group, and even allowing some open arms, upside down, moves (Not sure if that’s safe?). Even my 11 yo daughter commented on the lack of guide interaction. They can really enhance the experience! Less trips per day might allow for more time with participants:-)

We did the 9 zip lines and had a great time. The staff are knowledgeable and organized. We did this with older kids (young adults) but the group we were in had people of all ages. Highly recommend as an alternative to beach activities. We felt safe and the equipment was in excellent shape. It was rainy the day we visited, no issues at all zipping in light rain.

What a blast! Our whole family loved this adventure. I am a bit afraid of heights, and even I couldn’t help but have a good time. It was actually such a cool way to see the scenery. The grounds are stunning, and the staff was very professional and also entertaining. Highlight of the whole trip for our 11-year-old. It was also long enough of a tour that we felt like it was worth me money (1.5-2 hours depending on group size)

Our zipline adventure was one of the highlights of our Hawaii vacation! From the moment we arrived, our guides (Gary, Rocky and Young) were professional, efficient, and organized, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. Most importantly, they placed a strong emphasis on safety, which allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the tour. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Soaring above the Umauma Stream and taking in the stunning views of cascading waterfalls and flowing water below was an unforgettable experience. The combination of adrenaline and Hawaii’s natural beauty made every zipline run spectacular.

The scenery was beautiful. We’ve zipped 3-4 times in other locations. The zip lines were long but not really thrilling or exhilarating, which was a big disappointment. One guide, the sandy blond curly haired guy, was fun and engaging; but the others were not. They kept us safe, but were dull. Would we do this again?

Great time zip lining!!! Highly recommend! Takes about 2 hours to do all 9 lines. Cornhole/food/shade at waiting area!

We had an amazing experience on our zipline tour! It was so cool to zip over the beautiful landscape. Our 10 year old had never gone ziplining before and she was a bit nervous but the awesome guides at the Umauma experience made it easy for her and she had so much fun too! Highly recommended!

Beautiful scenery. Group was large so a good deal of waiting. Less canopy style connections between lines than others we have done. But the property is well kept and some of the zip lines were over spectacular scenery.

It was GREAT except a family showing up late and not understanding that little kids needed to go with the guides before the parents on certain ziplines due to their weight, and asking the same questions at every zipline location - the guides were great and very patient with the same questions over and over. Other than that, it was a fun experience.

A lot of fun and amazing views. The lenght of the visit (event) was appropriate. The amount of people in the group we reasonable. The staff was cool and helpful. The only thing which needs improvement is a sign on Highway 19: Instead of their competitor they do not have any sign and google maps is navigating in the wrong direction of you enter the address.

Incredible! This was my first time on a zip line and it exceeded my expectations! Everything was seamlessly done- safety, transitioning from one line to the next, and super fun. The scenery is breathtaking! Totally recommend.

Beautiful zipline experience! We enjoyed the excursion; although as a former zipline guide myself I would recommend a little more attention to the safety precautions, there were no issues that occurred. This zip line course has very little walking/hiking between ziplines, built in "hands-free" braking, and the opportunity for some great waterfall views and gorgeous flowers and tropical plants.

It was beautiful and so fun!! Theguides were fun,professional and knowledgeable. Dont leace without doing this however just know its 2 hours from Kona BUT worth the drive.

We had an awesome time with the crew. Whole family enjoyed the ziplines and the views. Was sad to hear it was a staff members last day. He was awesome great attitude, he just didn't feel he was valued.

Overall, we had a good time - it was my wife, two late-teen boys and myself (along with others in our group we didn't know). Check-in, getting ready, and the trip to the top were all handled well and conveniently. A few of the zip line segments were a little more on the dull side, as they were shorter and closer to the ground (i.e. the last one was maybe the least interesting). A few others were really great - over bigger dips and water. Of our crew, one guy was pretty chatty and seemed really happy to be there. A couple of them were friendly and helpful and pleasant. One guy had a good demeanor for much of the time, but seemed a bit grumpy when people didn't make it all the way to the landing at the end of the zip line segment. We were told multiple times to "cannonball" to reduce drag, move faster, and make it to the end. We did try this, but it didn't necessarily work. In fact, the one time I did not make it to the end and had to have someone out to pull me in, I was in my best cannonball. They kept saying over the walkie-talkies "all we can do is keep telling them", like it was a real inconvenience to have to help when people didn't make it. I'm sure it is a bit inconvenient, to be fair, but it also seems like part of the job. Also, people like to stretch out and wave an have fun, not always be in a cannonball. My wife and kids were put off by this constant reminder more than I was, but it was a little annoying. The views were really nice. We'd probably go again if we were on the island again, but we may look elsewhere, too, if we thought too much about the constant reminders.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to complete the course because of the weather conditions but the guides were amazing, and what we did get to experience was absolutely amazing! The weather wasn’t the guides fault for sure, and they still made sure we had the best time!

Friendly staff. High quality equipment and service. They had lost power with storms the previous day, but still provided great service.

It was a great day packed with sights and information. We loved having Big Mike show us pridefully the community he grew up in. A good overview of local culture and history. Big Mike is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He’s the unofficial mayor of Hilo! Seems to know someone at every corner. We highly recommend this tour.

The views were beautiful and It was extremely fun. I was so excited to go zip lining and it did not disappoint. If you aren’t it super good shape and you are worried that it’ll be too tiring you shouldn’t worry because it’s super easy. You just have some stairs, slight inclines or declines but nothing too strenuous. I feel the group size wasn’t too bad. Definitely welcoming to all different ages.

We did the Zip Line. They run this rain or shine. We were staying on the other side of the island and didn't check weather so we're unprepared for the rain. They provided panchos which were clutch and shows great service. We have been to a few zip lines across the islands and the views here were just simply legendary. Despite the rain, this was easily our favorite. I think the rain actually made the lines move a little faster. Would easily do it again.

Took my parents (70's) and my spouse and kids (15 & 8). Everyone loved it. Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Everyone was ready to go again. Again, the staff was fun, happy, professional and made my family feel at ease and safe. Thank you so much. We will recommend to everyone and anyone.

Activity was pretty much as advertised. We weren’t told to be there 30-45 min early so got called that we were late. Suggest that info be sent with the waiver info

Really fun! Guides were great! There is lots to do up there besides the Zipline. You could spend the whole day here. Very well run!

Umauma Zip Line Experience is for all who visit the Big Island of Hawaii. WHY? Employees treat you with Aloha & as Ohana. 9 well planned platforms for one of best scenic views of Hawaii. With WELL above average in everything from communication, facilities, quality of equipment and safety measures. All the staff were amazing! Kypp and his crew were outstanding guides. This was really fun. The staff at Umauma was great. The ziplining was set up on a beautiful, scenic location. I would definitely recommend this adventure!
