This was great! We were picked up at our resort and enjoyed a wonderful ride to 4 Different waterfalls and small towns, we had a wonderful lunch and numerous snacks. Our guide was very knowledgeable!
Chris is the nicest, most knowledgeable tour guide I’ve ever had. He knew all the details about our sites. A++++
Nice relaxing and enjoyable tour. Stefan was so knowlegable and informative of the island. I learned so much and the scenery where we stopped was so beautiful. Well worth paying for a driver so you can enjoy yourself. Also breaking tour up into specialty area is the way to go. Not rushing around trying to see whole island in one day.
We had a great time our driver and guide was a lot of fun and knowledgable of Hawaiian topics. I would recommend this tour. Lots of fun. Weather didn’t cooperate to well so a few of us declined the waterfall swim (rain/muddy).
Stefan was our guide for this tour. He was very knowledgeable and informative. He prepared us for each site visit on the tour. Very relaxing. Some of the hikes were slightly rugged for myself and my wife in our seventies and having had knee replacement surgeries a few years ago. No problems on the tour. The waterfalls were beautiful. He rearranged our private tour of 7 people including 1 year old and 3 year old grandsons, due to scattered rain the island was experiencing on that day. I highly recommend the private tour and our guide Stefan
Wow! Don’t doubt - book now! Stefan was such a cool guide. We learned so much about the island. It was so nice to just sit back, enjoy the views, and take everything in without having to worry about driving, parking, and passes. We will remember this adventure forever. Swimming in the waterfall will be a core memory.
Derrick is absolutely AMAZING! Not only was he very cheerful and pleasant as a tour guide, but he offered so much interesting information and small anecdotes. But what I appreciate the most was that I left behind some belongings that were very valuable to me and he went out of his way after a full day long tour to drive back to my hotel and give them back to me. I highly recommend this Tour and Derrick to anybody interested in chasing waterfalls in Hawaii. P.S Please remember to tip your tour guides, if they are anything like Derrick then they deserve a hug too! - C.
Our tour guide Drew was exceptional! He was very knowledgeable and fun! He also was a respectful and grateful person of his land which we appreciated! We got to see a lot of Hawaii and got treated to malasadas!
Our tour was led by Jason, who not only showed us many gorgeous waterfalls and the botanical gardens, but introduced us to malasadas, the scrumptious filled Hawaiian doughnuts. We had a great day. My husband fulfilled his dream of swimming in a waterfall pool. We both enjoyed the beautiful native flowers and other plants in the garden.
I am writing to recognize our driver and tour guide, Jason, for his exceptional service during our recent trip. Jason is a highly skilled driver and shared extensive knowledge regarding the island and its history. Having been on many tours in the past, we found this to be by far our best experience. We particularly enjoyed the views and the tours of the waterfalls and Botanical Gardens. Jason’s great sense of humor and clear passion for his work made the trip enjoyable for our entire group. Thank you again, Milton Poulos
Derek was fantastic! very patient and funny, such a wonderful tour!We got a lot more than we had anticipated and loved every minute of it, even the hard climbs. You gotta dig deep in a few spots but well worth it!! Thank you for a hell of a day on the Island we learned so much!!
Wasabi is an excellent company. Very well done. Derek was our tour guide & he was great! Very knowledgeable about the Big Island, Hawaiian language- superior in every way. The day is long but you see a lot of the island; both lava field, tropical deamscapes and dry habitats. You are out of the van at well planned stops with activities, so your day is varied & fun. Small group of 12 or less with less tourist or no others at your stops. The private waterfall swim looked like a travel magazine add!
Our guide, Dreu Basaldua, gave excellent commentary on our tour. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The Wasabi Waterfalls Tour we booked as an excursion on our trip to Hawaii was excellent and I highly recommend doing this if you are visiting the Big Island. All the places that we stopped at on the tour were all must sees or do’s while visiting here. At each stop you had ample time to explore, see the sites, and take pictures. Our tour guide Dreu, was one of the best guides we have ever had. He knew the history of the areas extremely well, and was very interactive with all of the guests. Lunch was provided by Wasabi which consisted of traditional island fare. The scenic park we stopped at, and the meal we had was great. Do this with Wasabi if you come to the Big Island!
Jason was awesome ! Thanks for the awesome tour. Weather was beautiful! Really enjoyed it . Every stop was worth it . Botanical garden was also unbelievable! Each and every stop !
There were 3 of us on the tour, a priest, a rabbi and a Buddhist monk. I thought it odd when our guide, Dreu, who somehow managed to drive the coach with a peg leg, kept saying ‘arrrh, mateys, ye’ll be walking the plank soon’. That wasn’t the least of it however-there’s not much to see on the island as it’s very flat and planted with vast cornfields-but at our 5th cornfield stop Dreu asked us to disrobe, put on grass skirts and hula for his entertainment. Turns out that the priest had attended a luau the night before so he knew what to do and led us in a pretty good rendition of aloha oy vey or something. My ukulele string broke, and Dreu threatened that I’d be the first to walk the plank. Which was weird because all we saw were cornfields. No water anywhere. Strange as it is called ‘the big island’. And we were on a ‘waterfall tour’.
Our driver, Chris did a perfect job explaining the history of Hawaii in a very humorous way, and we were all excited about the stories he told
We have been on so many excursions, but this was absolutely amazing. From the valley to the waterfalls. Also the botanical gardens and our picnic lunch at the gorge was breathtaking. Our guide Stephan Perazich did such a good job and answered all of the questions. Will definitely use this outfit again. Michael and Jodi 2-16-2026
Stefan kindly re-rooted our tour so we could see the eruption of Kilauea! Thank you, Stefan! The remainder of the waterfall tour was wonderful as well!
Chris was the best tour guide ever! We learned so much about Hawaiian history and swam in the most gorgeous waterfall pool. The Mercedes sprinter van was super comfortable and we ate our lunch in the most idyllic spot. We saw over 10 gorgeous falls and also enjoyed an insane botanical garden. This was a perfect Big Island Adventure!
We booked 2 different tours with this company. We did this one 1st. Derrick was very knowledgeable about the area and a really nice guy as well. The weather was perfect, and the sights were amazing! We highly recommend this tour. We are looking forward to the star gazing tour with this company as well.
My family and I went on this trip during the holiday season and were very impressed by the tour. Our tour guide Derek was very knowledgeable as he drove us all over the island to our destinations. The views were great and usually very accessible. My parents are a bit older and one has a bad knee but our guide was very patient and my parents were able to have a nice time. The van was also very comfortable and clean!
Derek was an amazing tour guide for our waterfall and garden tour. He was so knowledgeable, made the longer drivers more fun with his info on the island and was very attentive to us as guests. The lunch was way better than we expected-yummy island style food. The botanical gardens was on another level beautiful and it was so great being able to walk around in nature with all driving. We truly loved the beauty of all the waterfalls and the swimming was the highlight of the tour! We’d strongly recommend doing this tour for beauty, fun and adventure!
Amazing excursion. Our tour guide, Stefan, is knowledgeable and energetic. Got to spend enough time at each location. Our favorites were the botanical gardens, seeing dolphins and of course, the cold plunge swim at Kulaniapia Falls. Highly recommend.
Our guide Stefan was incredible. We saw everything in the description plus a couple of extra stops along the way. The waterfalls were beautiful and the botanical garden has literally thousands of different species of tropical plants, most of which were in bloom. Stefan is really knowledgeable about the island and explained a lot of the history of the places we saw. There was plenty of time at each stop with over an hour at the botanical garden and the waterfall swim. Be aware that there is a lot of walking and stairs along the way, this is an outdoor adventure.
Amazing tour! Chris was our guide and gave a great history of the island. The waterfalls and botantical gardens were amazing! Would highly recommend this tour,we also did the volcano and stargazing trip with Wasabi and would highly recommend doing both, as it's a great way to see different parts of the island. Both tours are long days, but worth every penny!
Great tour. Very good mix of waterfalls, botanical gardens and experiences. Picked up right at our hotel. Chris our tour guide was exceptional great. He was a wealth of island and cultural knowledge. We learned so much on this trip about the Hawaiian Islands. Book it! Its worth it and ask for Chris
We had a wonderful time on the waterfall tour. Our waterfall tour was guided by Drew who was super energetic and always giving us things to think about. Highly recommend Wasabi when visiting the big island!
Beautiful scenery, knowledgeable tour guide and enjoyable tour. Loved swimming in the private waterfall.
This is an excellent lay back tour where you go to a number of beautiful waterfalls and where you can choose how far walk you want walk. We also had nice lunch beside a beautiful stream and waterfall that flowed into sea. We visited other locations as well as the botanical gardens. We also went swimming at the base of private waterfall. Stefan our was very friendly and knowledgeable he made tour interesting. This is well worth going on
Long day but so worth it. Bus picked us up right on time at hotel. Comfortable ride and tour guide driver Stefan was fantastic. Learned so much about Hawaiian history and geology. We saw things with ease that would have been very difficult to do on our own. Botanical Gardens were amazing but use bug repellent! Highlight was definitely the swim in the waterfall pool. Like a dream to even be there! Twelve year old granddaughter didn’t love the bus ride but was very engaged with the rest of it. She was second in the water at the waterfall and had no fear. Wonderful day!!
Absolutely fantastic day trip to some of the most stunningly beautiful places on Earth. I chose this trip as it hit a lot of spots I hadn't seen on my last, brief trip to the island, including Wai'pio Valley and the botanical garden, both of which sort of blew my mind in very different ways. The waterfalls were great, including a trip to a private falls with the option to swim. Our guide, Stefan, was extremely knowledgeable about the landscape and wild fauna, which especially made the long ride from Hilo back to the Kona side interesting and interactive. If you want to spend some time getting to know parts of the Big Island somewhat more intimately, I highly recommend this trip. I give it every star there is to be had. A+!
This was an excellent tour. Stephen was great and really took care of us for the day. Shared great info and in all we couldn't have had a better tour through multiple falls and views. We had rented a house a ways away from Kona but pickup was well organized and easy
Derek was our tour guide and this outing was awesome! It’s a great way to get around some of the island and learn. The botanical gardens are stunning, waterfalls are always impressive but the private swim took the cake! Highly recommend this tour for most ages and abilities. I took my almost 10yr old and 60+ year old mom and both handled the walking and traveling well. There are short sections of steep uphill walking in a couple of the locations but you get enough time to take it a bit slow when needed.
This was a great experience and our guide Derek made it even better. He gave us a lot of great information on the drive to the different stops. The waterfalls were beautiful and peaceful to look at. The lunch provided was great! If you really like nature and want to see the sites then you have to do this!
This is an excellent tour that was made great by our guide Drue. Botanical garden stop is a must see and an unexpected pleasure. Wonderful collection of flowers and plants in a great sea side setting. Tour ended with a private swim at a waterfall. Highly recommend for a day’s activity.
Stefan was a very good guide with excellent stories and knowledge of Hawaiian culture. If you like waterfalls and have a full day, this is a very good tour. The Botanical Gardens are also a great use of the time on this tour.
Chris was friendly, extremely helpful, and knowledgable. He provided a great tour for our group of 13. The tour provided stories which intrigued and entertained the guests.
Derek is by far the best tour guide I have ever had! Very funny, knowledgeable and thoughtful! We stopped at the Valley of the Kings overlook, absolutely stunning views. We saw 4 different waterfalls, one of which we got to swim in! We visited the Botanical Gardens, which had an ocean view if you walked far enough. All of the different flowers were gorgeous. We had a delicious lunch at a beautiful spot by the ocean. Derek made 2 unplanned stops to a small town with a bakery and coffee shop and also a farmers market because he listens to his clients wants and tries to fulfill them. We were outside in nature more than in the van. It was a long day, but worth every minute! Thanks Derek and Wasabi Tours!
Excellent tour! Drew was an entertaining and informative tour guide. We enjoyed the total experience and would recommend it to others.
Highlight for us was swimming at the Kulaniapia falls. Tour guide Dreu was outstanding, tons of info on the history of the towns we drove thru, the flora and fauna of the districts, and his deep affection for the sugar cane industry (inside tour joke). The botanical gardens were fascinating, be sure to walk all the way down to both ocean viewpoints. There’s a fair amount of windshield time in the morning but be patient, the rest of the day and the stops are worth it.
We had a wonderful tour around the big island of Hawaii! Our guide, Derek was great! He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I loved the black sand beach with the turtles on the beach. We were also very fortunate to be there on January 15th. The volcano was erupting. It paused on the 17th. When we recommend this trip to friends, we definitely recommend Derek to be their tour guide.
We LOVE DREU! What an amazing experience! The waterfalls were beautiful- they capture the aloha spirit of The Big Island. What a treat to swim in a private waterfall!! The botanical gardens were lush and exquisite, and our tasty Hawaiian lunch by the ocean was a lovely treat too. Drue was an excellent guide- lots of knowledge about the island with a gleeful sense of humor! This is definitely a must-do on your list of experiences for Kona! Mahalo!
Great guide who had tons of information about everywhere we went. Beautiful day. Fun trip. Good food.
Had an amazing tour thanks to our lovely Dreu who made it such a wonderful, educational, comfortable and fun day! I love every bit of it, especially swimming in the private falls. Will definitely be back in the future. :)
My wife and I took the relatively new Big Island Waterfalls adventure. The guide, Stefan, was extremely knowledgeable. We saw some great waterfalls and visited the botanical garden. We stopped at Tex’s diner for mouthwatering malasasdas (Portuguese style donuts). There are plenty of snacks and bathroom breaks. The trip is in a Mercedes van, which has no power - bring a power brick because many areas are outside cell coverage is spotty. The final stop is at a privately owned waterfall. If the weather permits you can go swimming. Highly recommend.
The waterfalls were amazing. I loved swimming in the cold pool. I didn’t get too close to the waterfall, but being close was so amazing. I highly recommend this tour.
All/most of the major sights on the east side of the island. Stephen made it easy for all - from us to college students to a cute 8 yr old and her brother.
What an amazing day Stefan Perazich showed our small group of a dozen folks. The group ranged from 8 to 82, and we all had an adventure we will remember the rest of our lives. Our guide was patient, friendly and CRAZY knowledgeable about the island, waterfalls and volcanos. Each location we stopped at seem to be better than the previous one. We started at the Waipi’o Valley, and proceeded to FIVE stunning waterfalls. We stopped and had lunch under a bridge where a river and ocean meet. It felt like we stumbled on a secret spot… that only the locals knew about. (But with bathrooms and picnic tables. LOL) The second to the last waterfall we got to swim in! (That swimmable waterfall was on private property that we were invited to enter. So it was JUST our small group, and it made you feel like you were visiting a celebrity who had been handed “the golden ticket”.) This was an all day tour that left us wonderfully exhausted, and filled with the memories of what this island is all about. Out of FIVE stars, I give this tour an ELEVEN!
