Big Mike was a fantastic tour guide. Upon entering the tour shuttle bus, he gave us a lei that his wife made; it was a great island memento. He told us so much about the island and played Hawaiian music along the way. The trip included a delicious lunch at a farmer's market. We spent a good deal of time at a 'hissing' volcano, experienced a lava tube in the rainforest, took us to Rainbow Falls etc. We concluded the trip with a visit to a beach. Unfortunately, although we brought bathing suits, there wasn't much time to get a swim in before we had to return to ship.

Big Mike is simply a great bloke, funny and very informative. We had a great trip and he was the perfect host. He has thought a lot about how to make his tour memorable. It is the many little personal touched that make the difference. Would recommend Mike to any visitors…..a very down to earth approach with a real desire to make it the best trip…

Big Mike treats you like family. Super nice and explains Hawai’i well. Had a clean bus and multiple stops. Lunch was great at the Hilo farmers market. Saw the volcanos and lava tubes. One of the best tours ever!

Big Mike is the best tour guide! He’s a very friendly, informative, fun guy. The excursion was awesome! He took us to Volcanos National Park (no eruption that day but lots of steam vents) Rainbow Falls, just beautiful, a lovely beach where we saw sea turtles, saw the King Kamehameha statue, downtown Hilo where he treated us to a delicious Hawaiian lunch and more. Van was very clean and comfortable. He greeted us all with a handmade lei by his wife. Overall, excellent experience, I would highly recommend this tour with Lehua.

Big Mike was the absolute best; he taught us so much and made the tour something we will never forget. We are still talking about this tour a week later. If you get a chance, you have to book with him; he's the only person I would trust to do a tour like this the right way. He goes so far out of his way to make sure everyone is well taken care of during the tour. We will always remember this excursion with Big Mike.

Wow!! If you're looking for a fantastic Big Island tour then this is it! Big Mike has an absolute passion for his home island and it shows in every aspect of what he does. He has created a tour that not only takes in some of the Big Island highlights, but is personable, informative and fun. This was absolute standout of my family's vacation to Hawaii and Big Mike goes above and beyond exceeding all expectations. I would not hesitate in recommending Big Mike's tour for a second!

Big Mike is a great tour guide/driver. A native Hawaiian, he Shares his knowledge of the island culture, history, and customs. The day our Tour he modified his normal route, attempting to catch the last few minutes of an eruption. The lunch provided at the Farmers Market was excellent! Highly recommend this tour! 6 stars.

This will be my best attempt at summarizing something that I think everyone should experience when visiting Hilo. My wife and I were visiting the east side of the Big Island for a few days, and this tour by Big Mike and Lehua Tours was the first thing we did on our first full day. Looking back now, it was the perfect (and I truly cannot emphasize this enough, PERFECT) intro to the east coast, Hilo, and surrounding area. Everything was as advertised. Big Mike is an excellent host and his life experience and tour experience shine the whole day. Looking back on our tour, it was filled with experiences and sightseeing that visitors of the Big Island just wouldn't and couldn't know about. I cannot recommend enough this small and intimate tour (about 12 people) with Big Mike, and if I could give this tour more than 5 stars, know that I would. Even if you are in Hilo / surrounding area for 1 day, this is absolutely what you should be booking. The best money we spent on the east side and it's not even close.

If you want to have an experience that has been curated with love then big Mike is the guy for you. His tour is full of local knowledge, pure consideration for his guest and so much kindness. Our volcano viewing wasn't very active but still cool to see but Big Mike filled the gap with stopping for turtles an amazing local lunch and farmers market, taking photos, ushering us with kindness and not making it feel rushed and plenty of surprises and gifts, I have never felt so much love from a tour guide. If your thinking of a tour in Hilo, book this guy and you will feel these words and not be disappointed.

The volcano and lava tube were awesome. Hilo town farmers market was amazing. The food at the little red bldg was out of this world good.

Lehua big island tour was a perfect excursion. The itinerary takes you to all the great spots. What makes this excursion extra special is big Mike. He’s very knowledgeable and shares loads of history and cultural information. He’s thought out all the important details and makes sure everyone is taken care of throughout the day. Lunch was very tasty with many options to choose from. He makes you feel like ohana by the end of the day.

This tour was awesome!! Due to NCL changing our port schedule, our ship arrived a day later than scheduled. Big Mike called and confirmed he can still accommodate us. He came early and provided lei's for our group of twelve. He was very energetic and showed us a slide show on the way to the volcano. He helped with group photos at every stop. Lunch was included and you had many choices, I recommend the Korean fried chicken. We stopped and walked through the lava tubes and falls. He made sure we were back in plenty of time for our earlier than scheduled ship departure. The big island souvenirs were the icing on the cake. I’ve taken many shore excursions over the years and this tour ranks with the best of them. Mike was very responsive when we had to cancel the tour due to Hurricane Nolo disrupting our port stops then rebook another day. Mike met us in a comfortable 12 passenger van and headed off to Volcano National Park. The visit ticked off a bucket list item when we were able to watch the erupting volcano spew lava and follow the flow down the mountain. Everything else on the tour is listed in the Viator description so I won’t take time to be redundant except for one detail and that was lunch. We stopped at the farmers market that contained not only exotic fruits and vegetables but also handmade clothes and crafts. Adjacent to the market was a small nondescript hole-in-the wall restaurant where you place your order then eat at picnic tables outside being entertained by a local singer/guitarist. The food was the best and certainly most unique we had on our cruise. I had the Hawaiian plate from the special menu of the day. I’ll try to add a photo. Even better than the food was that it was all included in Mike’s tour! We got back to the ship with time to spare inspite of road closures and road slowdowns resulting from the hurricane damage cleanup. Finally Mike was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with interpreting a Hawaiian menu. Hopefully someday soon I’ll be able to return to the Big Island and take my young granddaughter. Mike’s business turns 1 year old in October and I’m sure conducting his tour like this will continue to make his business thrive!

Turned out to be our only tour on the Big Island because cruise ship could not stop for Kona since it wasn't safe for the tenders. We had six members of our family on this tour and it was very enjoyable and we had a great tour guide.

Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable as he was from Hawaii. It made the whole experience that much better. He had a very nice 15 passenger sprinter van which was very comfortable. All seats were full. We visited Volcano National park, turtles on the beach and waterfalls. Lunch was at this little island sandwich shop, out of the way, which was excellent! Then the farmers market for shaved ice! GREAT EXCURSION!

Man I can’t say enough good things about Big Mike and his tour. Soo professional. He took the time to show us a slide show during our tour, he explained each and every stop, gave us history of the big island. He got off with us and walked with the group at each stop and gave us some insight on each stop and history of each stop, its significance to the island. Our Lunch stop was great. Food was awesome. His van is nice and comfortable, very clean and tidy. He’s super polite and very engaging with his guests and makes you feel like Ohana. Loved this tour and it’s no surprise Big Mike is booked out! It was very convenient as Big Mike picks you up and drops you back and the cruise ship. We enjoyed visiting the volcanoes and all the other places we stopped. Big Mike is a local and his knowledge and stories was terrific. From the time we were picked up at 8:30am from Hilo airport our tour guide of Lehua Tours, Big Mike, gave us a summary of what we would be seeing and doing for the day, which was helpful. Every place we went to was breath taking, the waterfalls, the volcano tube, the active volcano was amazing. This tour was worth the money, the tour guide was just phenominal (big Mike of Lehua Tours). If you go to the Big Island, we would recommend Lehua Tours by Big Mike you will not regret it. Big Mike knew so much about the Island, he grew up there, we enjoyed learning about the history, the plants, the flowers and all the right spots to give us good views. He was most respectful, fun, on time and professional. The tour package included lunch which he picked a really good spot for us to have lunch where we could directly see the active volcano and saw the lava. He picked us up from Hilo airport and dropped us back at the airport when we finished. Everything that he did on this tour had a personal touch. He took pure joy in sharing with us this beautiful Island. We can not say enough about this experience. Big Mike of Lehua Tours was just that good.

Mike is the best tour guide we’ve ever had. His level of service and knowledge was just outstanding. He even called us the day before the tour to let us know the volcano was active and if possible to go see it as it will not be active the day of the tour.

Our guide, Mike, was wonderful! He had a video and showed us pictures and narrated some of the history of the island while we were driving from one location to the next. We visited several volcano sites and beautiful waterfalls. Mike is a local of the island and knew many places to take us. He took us to a favorite place of his for a great lunch, took us to a flea market for some shopping, and took us to the beach for a dip in the ocean. He greeted us with a Hawaiian lei, gave us chocolate covered macadamias, a 2027 calendar of Hawaii, and some great memories. I would highly recommend this trip.

What can I say about this tour other than fantastic!! First off, Mike is an absolute awesome guide!! He’s a local and is full of knowledge, not only of the area but also the culture. Mike took us all over Volcanoes National Park and spoke to us in depth about the landscape. He then took us to a local lunch spot off the beaten path where I had the best panini I’ve ever had. We then hit up a local farmers market where we got some delicious shaved ice, iced Hawaiian coffee, fruits and souvenirs. We also hit up a couple of waterfalls in the rain forest before hitting a local beach where the scenery was unreal. Do I recommend this tour for anyone looking for an adventure filled day in Hilo??……1000% yes!!! We’re definitely coming back and touring with Big Mike!!

I’m Hawaiian born and I was very honored with his knowledge of our past cultures. This was really an awesome your and Big Mike from Lehua your made it super special for us with stories, his knowledge about nature and his hearty laughter. He didn’t rush us, took us through local experiences, food and gave us time to enjoy the day at this gorgeous national park. He went out of the way to welcome us with self made garlands looking like lehua flowers, gave us gifts on our way back and stopped wherever we requested one. Really appreciate the attention to detail and absolutely brilliant experience.

Our tour guide was "big Mike ", absolutely the best, very informative and very casual. Explained about the island, the culture, vegetation and the sites he took us 2, which was several, probably 7 and a half hours. He also took us to lunch, which was part of the package, but still it was native food. Great experience!

Big Mike provides an Ohana experience! The generosity of the Hawaiian culture was evident in every aspect of the tour. Great stops at lava tube, yummy lunch and visit farmers market and great waterfall trick of the eyes!! Appreciated the lessons re: native plants and traditional uses. Great day.

If I could give this tour more than five stars, I absolutely would. Big Mike made it one of the highlights of our Hawaii trip. From the moment we met him, he made everyone feel welcome. As a Hilo native, he shares deep knowledge and genuine love for the Big Island. By the end of the day, we didn’t feel like customers we felt like guests being shown around by a friend who truly loves his home. Mahalo, Big Mike, for an unforgettable experience. Superb tour July 17. You will not regret it. Mike makes sure all things are covered. The running commentary is great with iPad screen to show what he is describing. He comes out with you at stops and is great at getting your family pics. Ponchos supplied for the rain events. (Sorry Mike we probably tracked in a mound of sand and a dirt.) Don’t worry about food as he has that covered with a stop at a delicious hot sandwich place all included. Mike has bottled water along he pulls out at lunch. Try caprese sandwich was over the top delicious. The tour was everything we hoped for. Van holds 12 and very comfortable. He covers everything he says in description. Highly recommend.

Every single minute was amazing! Big Mike is a natural. Tone of voice, history, jokes, professionalism, the list goes on and on. His van was super clean and very comfortable. He made the entire day so special. Memories will last a lifetime.

Big Mike, the owner of this company, is native to Hilo and he has made this adventure worth six stars. He starts your tour with a homemade leis you can bring home (not fresh flowers—-a keepsake!). What a great aloha. He not only will bring you to a lava tube, he will walk with you, narrating and showing you native plants and animals. So many people overheard him who weren’t on the tour and would often ask him questions and tag along while we walked, lol. He is the friendliest person and so patient. We stopped when native animals suddenly appeared. He went out of his way to help me find local coffee and tea. He has even more special treats he gives you on the trip that I’ll keep a surprise. Please consider giving your time to this man and his tour. His love of both his island and his company is apparent and you don’t feel like you’re just a customer… with Big Mike, I felt like family.

We absolutely had the most amazing day on the Big Island with our phenomenal tour guide Big Mike! We were greeted right inside the cruise terminal by Mike with crocheted, keepsake leis (made by his wife!) and then boarded his air conditioned, brand new 12 passenger van! Mike took us to all his favorite spots which made us feel like locals! We started in Volcano National Park, then drove through Hilo to the outskirts of town where we ate the most tasty lunch at a local eatery - big shoutout to LiLilani Kitchen! After lunch we did some shopping at the Farmers Market, drove through the rainforest and saw two breathtaking waterfalls before ending our tour at Richardson’s Black Sand Beach! All along the ride Big Mike shared information about the island’s history, geology, plant life and more! Big Mike is from Hilo and he truly knew all the things! I HIGHLY recommend Lehua Tours and Mike if you are ever in Hilo! This tour was worth every penny and more!!!

The day was well planned and Mike was an expert guide. Mike provided a ton a great information regarding history and nature. He shared stories of his experiences growing up in Hilo which enriched the tour. Mike took time to get to know all of his guests and previewed every part of the tour so we knew exactly what to expect. The tour was very relaxed, informative, and fun! Highly recommend!

Uneventful tour of hilo volcanos. Hilo weather is tricky and rain didn’t help. Guide was able to pivot so we didn’t get too wet but sights were uneventful
