We took a 3 hour tour in hire and cattle country on e bikes Very helpful because we gained 3000 feet in elevation over the course of the trip Traveled on quiet roads Thomas our guide was so informative and gave us so much history of the ranches and their founders The ride was absolutely beautiful and pastoral! We even saw working pups moving cattle from one hillside to another! I highly recommend this tour

We did the Anna Ranch tour yesterday and had a great time. We're both advanced cyclist so to ride with an experienced guide who knows cycling and the history of the ranch and the island, was an awesome experience. Thomas was great. He showed us water falls, hiking trails, talked history and cycling as a sport. If you're on the Big Island and you dig everything I just mentioned, this should be on your itinerary.
Natalie, Rachel and Thomas were AMAZING!!! Had the best time with them and highly recommend them!! . I was nervous to ride the e-bike up the mountain but they were so helpful and patient. Great tour up the mountain side to the waterfall. Thank you for the great adventure!
Alex and Big Island Bike Co. are the best. We have gone on several of their rides and everyone has had a great time. The e-bikes are game changers!
What an amazing experience this was for our family. We made a reservation for the whole family, two decided to hike the ranch and the rest of us hit the green trails. Needless to say, our guide was great going back and forth checking in on the scattered riders and hikers making sure everyone was doing well. The views were amazing, the waterfalls were incredible, and the ride was just a mountain bikers dream. 🤙 Everyone enjoyed themselves, including the non experienced riders. Thank you for the incredible ride!
Challenging ride but definitely fun! Sylvia was so helpful guiding us on the ride and giving us so many helpful tips about the e bikes and when to use certain gears / power. She was patient with us and even told us, that if unable or not comfortable going up a certain incline, do not hesitate to hop off our bikes and just walk it up the incline. Great tour and well worth it! Scenery was beautiful!
We had a great morning biking on the historic Anna Ranch in Waimea. The views were beautiful, and the guide was really nice and helpful. Overall, it was an experience worth doing if you are in the area.
We booked the Anna Ranch ride for our family of 5. All of us have ridden bikes but do not ride regularly. The trip up into the hills was challenging but really fun and rewarding. Todd made sure all of us were safe and challenged. Our teen boys LOVED getting to ride ebikes and chose to ride the single track both up and down. I was more nervous on the way down and rode on a jeep trail part of the way. We all loved that it was an exciting adventure. The scenery was spectacular with a view of 4 volcanoes and a trip to a waterfall. We visit the big island often and this is the best excursion we've ever booked. I highly recommend it for families who have tweens and teens who want a fun adventure!
Even though I did not get to participate in my ride with Big Island Bike Tours, I appreciated that they took a safety first approach and canceled my ride with them due to poor weather conditions. I will most certainly consider them for a return trip to the Big Island.
The peddle assist mountain bike tour on Anna ranch was our favorite excursion we did on the island. Todd was amazing from the start, from providing guidance on what to book based on ability to giving amazing recommendations for things to do and places to eat nearby. The actual tour was so much fun, we hiked waterfalls, biked all over the ranch and saw breathe taking views, all while learning the history of the ranch and the land. HIGHLY recommend but definitely call and be honest with your ability, the ride was challenging and if you haven’t rode mountain bikes or on rough terrain, it could be challenging and not too fun. But they have several different ride options. Give it a try!
I highly recommend Big Island Bike Tours. The private, exclusive experience is a great way to see this slice of the island by bike. Todd puts you at ease no matter your riding level. Taking an e-bike lets you control the effort. Todd is happy to share local stories and history of the big island to make this much more than a mountain biking excursion. Mahalo.
We booked a tour for our Son's 14th birthday. He loves to mountain bike! Todd, our guide, was amazing. My husband and son are experienced mountain bikers... but I was not. Todd was able to guide and adapt the entire ride to suit all riders. He even took us into some hidden gem waterfalls. He shared insight and educated us on the history of Hawaii and the ranch we had the privilege to be on. The landscape was amazing and we were the only ones on this scenic route! I would recommend this bike tour company to anyone who visits The Big Island! Thank you Todd for a great ride!
I highly recommend Big Island Bike Tours. We were fit with bikes and helmets and taken on a trail ride across Anna Ranch up to a scenic view spot. Todd, our guide, took us to a hidden waterfall and shared historical information on the ranch and surrounding community. As we are both in our seventies, it was a challenging ride on sometimes rocky and steep trails. Overall, it was a wonderful trip across the beautiful hillsides of Anna Ranch.
My son likes to ride MTB so we decided to try it as it had good reviews and we were not disappointed!! Beautiful scenery and great talk and insight about the big island from our guide Jeremy. Jeremy has a cool chill vibe and was great guide taking us up and down the MTB trail that they built on Anna Ranch. With the eBike, climbing steep hills were not a big problem and Jeremy was totally cool with the pace of the ride. I highly recommend Jeremy and the tour! There seems to be good choice of rides available based on one's fitness level. Two thumbs up!!
Big Island Bike Tours took us on a great trip on Mana Country Road. We met at the Anna Ranch, sized and loaded the bikes, and then we drove to the start of the ride. We rode about 8 miles up on the e-bikes and saw a different side of the island. the bikes were in good shape and having e-bikes helped to equalize me and my friend. i was hoping for more picturesque views but the cloudy weather didn't cooperate... something to think about.
Had an awesome experience with my son at Anna Ranch. Our guide, Jeremy, was great … not only for his mountain biking expertise but his passion for the local area. He shared a lot of great information with us about the Big Island and the local area. E-bikes were great (wouldn’t have made it up without one!). Scenery was incredible. Would do again.
Bike Island Bike Tours were so accommodating and helpful, they really added to our enjoyment of the Big Island. Lauren could not have been more helpful, providing advice, changing our booking and setting-up a great half-day e-bike Mona Road trail ride not on the standard schedule and recommending an excellent bike shop for road biking. Our guide Dan struck a nice balance with the various levels of experience in our party of four and was good company. The bikes were excellent. Thanks for a really good afternoon!!
Rode the 15 mile Mana Road e-bike tour with Jeremy. Ride was super fun and Jeremy was the best. He is very knowledgeable, is easy to talk to, and made sure everyone was comfortable with the ride and went at their own pace. He even gave some sunburn advice and a great recommendation for local burgers after the ride (Village Burger). The e-bikes make this ride accessible for wide range of abilities. Definitely recommend as a way to see a different part of the island, get some exercise, and enjoy the rural side of the Big Island.
Awesome time with mountain biking on Anna Ranch! Jeremy was a great guide - shared interesting history of the area and his passion for biking made for a wonderful day. Highly recommend!
We had a group of 4, beautiful morning. Jeremy is a wealth of knowledge having grown up in this area of the Big Island. He knows flora and fauna, history both distant and recent and is comfortable with all levels of mountain bike riders. The ranch land is special and not accessible without this tour. We saw two circling Hawaiian Hawks, Jeremy said not commonly seen. Everything is provided for the rider. All you bring is a smile and passion for being on a mountain bike for a few hours. You even have a brief side tour short hike to a waterfall. 😊 This is a special way to experience this amazing. Island in a unique way. I will for sure do more tours with Big Island Mountain Biking on a return trip. Many thanks to Anna’s Ranch for sharing your paradise.
We had a great time on our Ebike adventure with Big Island Bike Tours. Our guide, Jeremy was great. He was especially patient with us as inexperienced bikers.
Dad day pass + love of mountain biking + Big Island single track = awesomeness! Shout out to Jeremy who was laid back, super knowledgeable, tailored my ride, and a big reason why the single track exists. Couldn’t ask for a better guide. Only wish there were more single tracks and mountain bikers. Mahalo Jeremy!
This is not an exaggeration. Jeremy took me out and provided a wealth of knowledge about Waimea and Hawaii in general. The experience helped me learn about the history of Hawaii and opened my eyes to what life is like on the island for Hawaiians. The single track trail was perfect for what I was looking for; fast, smooth and not especially dangerous (IMO a steezy, dangerous ride should be saved for your home area, not on an expensive vacation. I'd rather be at the beach than urgent care, so this was perfect.) The climbs are nothing if you're using the bike properly. Move your legs and the bike motor will take you up the hill by itself. The ranch this is on is like nothing else in the Kona area, and to be honest, I wouldn't have come up to the Waimea area without a good reason. I'm glad I got to see that part of the island, "real Hawaii," and experience an area that wasn't designed for tourists. Visit Village Burger on your way out of town for ono grindz. Aloha.
My wife and I are avid MTBers from Denver, CO so we wanted the real deal experience on The Big Island. Scheduling our bike tour was pleasant due to Lauren’s willingness to work around the rest of our Hawaii activities we had planned on the island. My wife and I were scuba diving as well as being ‘at elevation’ so it took some coordination but they worked around our schedule to allow us to do the tour we wanted to do. Jeremy was our tour guide and was super chill, knowledgeable, and allowed us to do what we wanted to do with the perfect amount of historical facts and pleasant conversation. The equipment was quite new and dialed upon our arrival in so we didn’t have to fiddle around with anything. Jeremy had designed and built the trails himself, and the berms were really nice and flowly which allowed for a really nice, smooth descent. Mountain biking on private property in Hawaii and being the only ones on the acreage was a a rare treat.
We booked the Anna Ranch Mountain Bike Tour through Lauren (who was so helpful & kind) & it was nothing short of AMAZING!!! We were greeted by our guide Dan who offered us water bottles & granola bars. Dan was an incredible guide who knew an extensive amount of the history of Anna Ranch!! Dan made sure our ride was a safe one & thoroughly described the single track trail along the way. He made sure we felt comfortable as there were a few challenging parts of the trail. We had never done anything like this before, but with Dan as our guide, it was so much fun & much easier than it looked!!! He also had a couple of lunch recommendations & I’m happy to report The Fish and The Hog was out of this world!! We would give 10 stars if we could since this was our favorite tour of our 10 day stay!! We’ll definitely book again next time we visit the Big Island!!
We had a blast on the mountain bike tour of Anna’s ranch. Nice single track, a few technical spots, but fine for intermediate to advanced mountain bike riders. It was nice to have the pedal assist e-bikes for the climb, especially for out teen daughter. It was a bit wet but that made for a nice cool ride.
This was one of our favorite activities while on the big island! My family all has experience mountain biking but we have never used ebikes. Dan gave us a thorough overview and explained options that could make it more or less challenging. The journey up is absolutely stunning with amazing views everywhere you look. Dan did an awesome job previewing the route and explaining how to navigate more technical parts. He was super supportive, friendly, and knowledgeable. It felt like we were biking with a family friend!! If you love adventure and biking, I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary!
The info on the website was somewhere between vague and misleading, and the business was difficult to get in touch with which was frustrating. But we took the chance, thinking it was a shuttled downhill mountain bike adventure. What we got instead was a really fun *E* mountain bike adventure, up and down, with a great guide! The scenery was insane, it felt like we were in New Zealand or Ireland, with the rolling pasturelands and fog and rain. The weather cleared at the end and the views were extraordinary. It ended up being one of our favorite activities from our visit to the big island. I would strongly recommend to the owners of this business to update the website with accurate and clear information, and possibly include a method of contact for questions since there isn’t really a storefront to call.
This was the last activity of our four day stay on the Big Island and we had a great time mountain biking up the trail at Anna Ranch (a national historic site) with our guide, Dan. It was challenging but a lot of fun and the views, scenery and waterfalls were amazing! Highly recommend this.
Absolutely amazing experience getting to shred the Big Island a bit. My hats off to Jeremy who was an incredible guide. He is also the one responsible for building the single track trail up the hillside at Anna's Ranch. No small feet there. The climb was excellent. It got a little techy in some spots but I love a challenge. It was my first ride on an EBike and I'm kinda glad they had them available. All in all I was pretty blown away by experience and I would absolutely sign up for another adventure with this outfit.
Highly recommend the Anna Mountain ride. It is a mountain bike trail so of course you need to have some trail experience and stamina but we opted for the E bikes to equal out the experience levels of our group and it was perfect. Also just great to have the option to get a workout or just enjoy the scenery with the assist turned on. The main reason we chose this trip was as a way to do something active but also get a unique way to experience the landscape of Waimea. It is incredibly beautiful up there and gives you a whole new perspective on the island. Finally, our guide, Daniele was fantastic. He was helpful, knowledgable and easy going. Sometimes guides can feel a bit too canned and robotic, Dan was just himself and very authentic, would have loved to grab a beer with him after. For our family this was an amazing experience and we can't reccomend it highly enough.
Our second trip with Big Island Bike Tours, last trip was just the daredevils this time various ages and abilities. Everyone loved it.
What a fun day we had with Dan riding up Anna Ranch. The meeting place was a short bike ride through some gates then we headed up the mountain on a sweet single track that would have been quite challenging if not for the full suspension E-bikes. Nice views, waterfalls and open scenery. The downhill was mellow and fun. I would have done it again but my friends were tired. Super cool way to spend a half day in the Waimea - Kohala area. Mahalo.
We rode the Anna ranch trail with Dan, myself, wife and son (15). The ebike's were well set up to power up the hill. Dan was a fantastic guide. My son is a hardcore mountain biker, and my wife and are decidedly not. He met each of us at our level - patiently showing us how to get in the right gear and maneuver around the curves, as well as talking shop with my son. At the top of the hill they found a moderate bump that turned into a jumping session together. It was awesome. We all had a blast. The trail is one of a kind on the big island (we know - we tried some of the local spots) and the views are spectacular. Roundtrip the Anna ranch tour is closer to 1.5-2 hrs, not 4. Highly recommended tour guide and trail.
As a family activity for various skill levels, this bike ride was a wonderful highlight of our week in the Big Island. We had never been on e-bikes before and Jeremy was the most encouraging and informative (and patient) guide. He provided us with great stories and options along the trails. We are still laughing at our go pro videos! Also Lauran was a huge help with information while booking our reservations. This is a MUST DO excursion while in Waikoloa.
Dan was an awesome guide, very knowledgeable about the island and area surrounding the ranch. The trail was really fun, and not very difficult.
My brother and I really enjoyed this bike trip. Took us to a part of the big island we've never seen. Our guide was so friendly and chill. Lots of good information about great restaurants nearby and pointed out nooks, crannies, and tangerines, we would have never noticed otherwise. A dreamy few hours. Will do again next time I'm out there.
Our family had a terrific outing with Big Island Bike Tours. Jeremy, our tour guide, was simply outstanding. He was fun to converse with, very knowledgeable of the Big Island, and was keenly aware of our 8 year old who needed some special assistance during the ride. To top it off, the ranch land was stunningly beautiful.
Beautiful single track up (and down) the side of rolling grassy hills on the big island. Pretty significant elevation gain but the e-bikes made it doable and our guide gave us plenty of breaks where he told us about the local history and background. Gorgeous views and a fantastic experience! A must-do!!
We had a great time on our bike tour. Jeremy was very patient with me as a first timer to mountain biking. Lots of fun and beautiful scenery.
We highly recommend this activity, it was awe-inspiring with amazing scenery and the highlight of our trip. Dan our guide was great. They gave us helmets and backpacks to use. This was the second time we rode with Big Island Bikes and we will go again.
We loved biking with Alex so much last year that we returned to Mana Road again – this time, it was with Jeremy, who was an excellent guide who made sure we were comfortable, entertained, and safe the entire time during our e-bike gravel ride. I was with my father-in-law and husband and we all had a great time. Thank you Big Island Bike Tours for another wonderful experience!
We had a fantastic ride with Dan who graciously agreed to take us out on Christmas Day. The ride on Mana Road was beautiful - we even got to stop and pet the horses on the ranch who were roaming on the path nearby. My boys loved the speedy e-bikes and Dan was great and telling us about the history of the ranch and letting us set our own pace. I highly recommend Big Island Bike Tours - they were super accommodating and it’s a great way to spend time exploring a different part of the island!
We rode the Mana Road on e-bikes with Big Island Tours. We had to make some last minute adjustments to our booking, and were happily accommodated. We were loaned rain jackets, which we needed, and had a great time. Dan, our guide, was super personable, and Alex, one of the owners, took the time to visit with us upon our return. Great Company!
The e-mountain bike tour of Mana Road was a naturally beautiful, enjoyable, and educational experience I'd recommend to everyone; I don't exercise, but the e-bike leveled the playing field...and I was able to enjoy the 12+ miles with 1,136+ elevation gain like the others without getting tired. Jeremy was an excellent guide who afforded plenty of time to acquaint everyone with a quality Giant e-bike, as it was our first time riding one. Since I'm 4'11", he put me on a bike with a unique feature that allowed the seat to adjust mid-ride (if needed). He ensured we were all comfortable on the bikes before driving to the starting point, and he gave good advice about the provided mini backpacks; I had my own light backpack for water and a long-sleeved shirt, but his had straps that could snap so they wouldn't fall off my shoulders during the bumpy ride. I enjoyed seeing and learning about the cows roaming freely on Parker Ranch, the unique grass (kekela?), and the special grass-fed beef on Hawaii. It made me want to eat a hamburger or steak here. As a previous vegan, I appreciated Jeremy's care about how cows are treated throughout their lives and the difference it makes in the treasure they provide at the end of them. We later ate at the Big Island Brewhaus he and the other rider recommended, so I had to try the Kekela Greens with Big Island steak even though the waitress recommended/popular items are the fish bites...and it was delicious (as were the garlic fries). Even though the first half of the bike ride was uphill, we didn't even notice thanks to the e-bikes. Instead, we could enjoy being in nature without power lines or traffic beyond an occasional work vehicle. It was quiet and relaxing. I also liked hearing about Jeremy's life as a local; we'd surmised there were people born and raised in Hawaii who weren't considered Hawaiian, as is the case with Jeremy. For us, this meant we got to ride with someone who knows the island and its culture but can also ensure we safely enjoy it while getting as much exercise as we want (based on the selected assist level from the bike); I liked hearing what "aloha" means to locals since touristy me tended to simplify it to a basic greeting like "hello." Lastly, Jeremy took great pictures; he expertly navigated the portrait and panoramic modes with different angles to take the pictures included in this post. I wasn't able to share the pano picture because it exceeded Trip Advisor's size limitations, but it was clear and much better than any pano I've ever taken. We appreciate how he made this a comfortable, enjoyable, and safe experience for us! Jeremy's local food recommendations: Fish and the Hog (temporarily closed for renovations as of Dec 2021); Dan-o's Diner (thought it was temp closed but might be perm closed now); and Ippy's BBQ
We had a blast on Mana Rd ride with Jeremy. He outfitted us expertly along with rain jackets since it was showering at the start of ride. So much great conversation as we biked along and took in the scenery. The weather got better along the way & rewarded us with sunshine by the end. Jeremy was terrific. Even offered great local food options & things to do in Waimea. One of best adventures during our time on the big island.
What an amazing day with Big Island bike tours! We rode the Mana Road with e-bikes and had so much fun with our family. We had a gorgeous day on a private road with no one else around but our family and our amazing tour guide Dan. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed talking with him as we rode through gorgeous green valleys and mountains. Loved the trip! It's a must see in Hawaii!
We are not experienced riding bicycles and have never tried an E-bike. Dan showed us all we needed to know and we had a great time. Even with the elevation change on Mana Road, we had an easy time with the pedal assist. Easy trip for beginners. Great scenery on historic Parker Ranch.
Fun ride on the big island! Seeing the waterfalls were awesome! Our guide Dan was great and knew tons of info, plus made us feel right at home with our riding abilities. Totally would do again!
This was a great addition to our big island trip. We got to the top of the trail and back down more quickly than I expected, but we were ok with it as we had a lot planned for the day. Our guide did offer to let us ride back up again if we wanted. I don't remember his name, but he was a younger guy from Arizona and we liked him a lot. The trail and surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and the e-bikes were a blast to ride.
