Big Island Kohala Zipline Adventure

Our guides were awesome and made sure we had a safe and fun time! It will be great once they are able to open up the rest of the course they are building. Our group had a blast and it was beautiful weather mid-October! This would be a good course to start with if you are new to ziplining.

Davyn and Cody were wonderful guides for this experience. They were very knowledgeable, made safety their #1 priority, and ensured we had fun. We learned a lot about the town, and its environment, and we felt safe at all times. They will take photos of the experience, and you can purchase the photos for $20. You can take your phone with you, but can risk losing it, so it’s recommended your phone has an attachment that prevents it from dropping.

Worth the trip up north! A wonderful trip through the mountains, a waterfall and suspension bridges.

It was fantastic! From terrifying to amazing! First time for me, age 76 and hubs, age 80. Much more physically challenging than we expected and yet exhilarating. Realizing that I could do it, giving me aa challenge like I had not had in yrs. Our leaders David and Cody were beyond amazing, encouraging, so helpful to us old folks in a group much younger than us. They talked everyone through each step calmly (while I was shaking in terror) and thoroughly. The group was also so encouraging, rooting for us, "You can do it," "Good job." Best event of my trip to Hawaii, thanks David and Cody.

This was by far the most exhilarating and challenging zip line course I've done. Long zip lines and very cool suspension bridges. It was in a beautiful old forest, it felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie. The guides were very thorough and professional, with safety top of mind. They are developing a new course and my family definitely wants to try it next year!

INCREDIBLE! Guides were amazing. They helped my kids overcome fear of heights. They shared island history. My kids and I all say this was the pinnacle of our Hawaii vacation (which is saying a lot - we had a lot of adventures!).

We had an absolute blast at Kohala Zip Line Adventure! There were six of us in our group, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The guides were incredible—so fun, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel completely safe and comfortable the whole time. The course itself was beautiful, with amazing views and a perfect mix of excitement and scenery. Everything was very well organized, and you could tell they really care about giving people a great experience. We were laughing the entire time and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend this for families or groups—it was such a fun memory for all of us! 5 stars all the way.

Devin and kody were good coaches. We had a lot of fun. The experience is adventurous for a regular family. I just wish they had better picture/video recordings but that doesnt take away anything from having FUN! The ride through several farms is also picturesque.

Four of us “older” adults went ziplining for the first time and had a blast! Tammy and Brogan were excellent guides and made sure we all felt safe! We live on the Big Island and will definitely recommend this trips to our future guests.

Excellent time with very knowledgeable and reassuring tour guides Jake and Kodie. It was a beautiful experience with safety being their main concern and having a fun and exciting experience. Would definitely recommend doing this experience. Can’t wait to go back and take another tour with Hawaii Forest and Trail..

Our experience with Kohala Zipline was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Daven and the entire guide team were knowledgeable, incredibly professional, and created an environment that felt both efficient and extremely safe. From the initial safety briefing through each platform and landing, everything was handled with care and clarity. If you’re like me, it can be hard to know from online reviews whether an adventure activity truly prioritizes safety. I can confidently say that Kohala Zipline does. The equipment, instructions, and attention to detail made us feel completely secure the entire time. Beyond the ziplining itself, Daven and the guides brought the experience to life with stories about Hawaii, the course environment, and thoughtful recommendations for the rest of our trip. The team also did a wonderful job helping the whole group work together smoothly, keeping things moving while making sure everyone felt comfortable and supported. If you’re on the fence, take this as your sign to go for it. You’ll be in excellent hands.

Jake and Davyn were awesome! The zip line was fun and the foliage beautiful! Jake and Davyn were knowledgeable about the area and the island and they were funny! We felt very safe and secure. We would definitely go again!

Ziplining with our guides Tami and Davin was a great experience! The courses were beautiful and exhilarating, and safety was paramount at every moment. We not only had a fun time, but we also learned about the Hawaiian culture and history from our delightful guides. They also captured many great photos of us! Highly recommended for all ages!

This zip was a blast! We loved that not only did we get to ride great lines, we also got to cross cool bridges and repel! The tour guides, Brogan and Davyn, totally made it! They have great instruction, we're super helpful and confident, and offered so much knowledge of the island, history and other great things to do, we just wished we had gone on this experience first! 5 out of 5! Would absolutely recommend!

We had a WONDERFUL experience with our group guides Cody and Davyn. They were so knowledgeable about the course, their duties and local history. We learned so much, on top of feeling very safe and having a really great time. Who knew we'd be getting so much fun history and factoids!? We would highly recommend you book this adventure. Learned a lot about the area. The guides were professional and we all felt safe. Great sense of humor too. Repelling off the last platform was fun.

Kody and Devyn were very fun and knowledgeable. The zip lines were fast and fun and the bridge crossing were exciting.

We had a great time! I was super nervous since I’ve never been zip lining before but Davyn and Brogan were very professional and personable- they made me feel at ease. Definitely recommend! If you get motion sick I would recommend taking something for the ride up to the zip line - it’s a dirt road and very bumpy.

Best experience and it's one checked off my list. The staff was very helpful. Both experienced conductors were very knowledgeable and they informed us of all the safety and how important to stay informed in all zipline and bridges. Very helpful and fun sense of Humor. Nothing but positive attitude. Decker and tami were very fun to be with. Would definitely go again.

60’s plus Couple. From the moment we walked in all the staff were friendly and helpful. We might have even met THE Auntie Aloha upon arrival. The scale they have you weigh-in on is also gracious 😂 Our tour guides Rogan and Nick were patient, encouraging. In addition, on the ride up the mountain our guides provided historical facts and some histories of Hawi and surrounding towns. Such a bargain for the adventure. Truly loved our experience 😘

Beautiful scenery. Energetic and knowledgeable guides. Zip lining is about more than getting on and off the lines. There is the whole experience that surrounds it. Davyn and Kanoe made the experience a delight with their smiles, stories and unrelenting commitment to our safety. Well done!!

I've been on a number of zipline tours in different places and this was one of the more professional and organized tours. Our guides were Decker and Boo-Boo. The safety talk was thorough, with enough humor. I appreciate that they laid a very strict rule that they would remove us from the tour if we touched the carabiners. More zipline tours involve zip, walk, zip, walk, while this had a bunch of fun bridges to get us between the ziplines. The lines had a plastic sheath, which resulted in a smoother ride and better braking. I usually don't like the burn of braking (even with gloves on), but I noticed that braking was way easier and smoother this time around.

There were 8 of us and we all had a great time. It was a fun memorable afternoon. Boo-Boo and Davin were wonderful guides - professional, friendly and so knowledgeable. Definitely recommend Kohala Zipline Adventure!

Awesome experience with Davyn and Kody for my teen and I. The course is a 15 min drive from the meeting place. Lots of cool bridges to cross and about 8 or so ziplines- each progressively longer until the final one that I believe is over 800 feet long. From meeting at the beginning until returning was almost 3 hours and they took some great action photos that you can purchase for $20. Highly recommend!

So much fun! Nick and Cody were great instructors, and talked us through every step of the way. I was nervous because my kids and I have never zip lined before, and they made it easy to get the hang of it. I felt secure the whole time and we all loved our experience. Definitely recommend.

This is the second time we did this zip line excursion and just love it. We had guides Boo-boo and Decker. They were awesome and fun. We did the afternoon 2pm zip and we had a breeze blowing which helped keep us cool. This line has 8 zips and about 4-5 bridges that are so scary fun to walk across. We felt safe and taken care of the whole time. 1000% recommend this zip tour. We have done alll of the zip lines on the island and this is the most unique and fun experience.

It’s a great way to bond with your family and enjoy the scenery. And maybe face your fears of heights.

This review is for the hesistant/nervous folks. Took my 12 year old daughter. Was nervous about the self braking I read about in reviews-- but there's no need to worry about it at all. She weighs 80lbs, and never had to brake for herself. I weigh 130lbs, and never came fast enough to the platform to get the signal to brake. We did a practice self- braking demo once and it was easy. Every step/zip/etc was explained then demonstrated in great detail by the two guides with us. One of the guides, Jake, has a 6th sense and reads people pretty well.. He was very much in tune with who was feeling nervous, etc. For those nervous about ziplining and walking across suspension bridges- there's an initial 2 short ziplines with bridges in the beginning to get your feet wet. You likely can change your mind after the two zips and back out in that area. The scariest bridge I believe was in that first part- so if you can make it past that bridge, you'll be fine in all the other bridges. You are connected to something at all times during the tour. Whether on a tree platform, traversing a bridge, etc, you are 100% connected to something. I was nervous at first, as I had my daughter, but by the first zip I realized we were in great hands and the whole thing was pretty safe. There's a quick water break midway and at the end. It does get pretty warm up there. The short trip to and from the zip area and the office is in an air conditioned van. I hope to do this again with one of my younger kids, once they meet the weight requirement. Shoutout to Jake and Kodi. You guys make a great team. Thank you for the wonderful experience. My daughter and I had such a fun time.

This was a great ziplining experience. You’re up in the trees on high platforms. The view was gorgeous. Nick and Cody were our guides. They were funny and knowledgeable. I highly recommend.

We did this activity as a family of 4 (with 2 teenage girls). The zip line group was 8 people total, lived the small group. We had Nick and Cody as our amazing guides! They were really fun! As a first timer, I appreciated the very clear directions and demonstrations on how to zip line safely. One of the guides took pictures of our family throughout the experience, which we then could purchase digital copies for around $20. I thought this was a nice touch and it wasn’t outrageously expensive to get those memories. The guides also gave information about the small towns on our drive to and from the course, along with recommendations for great food, shopping and other fun things in the area. Highly recommend!!

This was our 2nd tour with Kohala Zipline and we had a BLAST! Jake & Decker kept us safe, entertained and laughing the entire afternoon. We left with great memories, fun photos, a few new nicknames, and big appetites. We’ve done several Zipline tours over the years and this was easily the best. The combination of the top notch guides, the amazing views (it literally felt like you were in an Ewok village), and the great ziplines, rope bridges, and a rappel down to the ground to finish up the day made this a great experience! One of the guides took plenty of photos of us that were less than $25 to buy which was totally worth it. I had the digital photos less than an hour after the tour was done. (Technically, you can bring your own phone for pictures but it’s at your own risk if you drop the phone there is likely no getting it back.) The check in desk had small containers to hold your personal items like wallet, keys, and phone while you were doing the tour.

Really fun day with Decker and Gideon. We took a party of 9 family members. What a hoot. Long zips. Beautiful views. Fun and experienced guides. Hug recommendation!

Guides Brogan and Nick were fabulous! They are locals who are extremely knowledgeable and professional, and also warm and friendly and fun. They provided many interesting facts about the island’s history, landscape and animals. You are transported to the course in a modern and comfortable sprinter van. You are high up in the trees, which is super fun, beautiful with a cool breeze shaded in the canopy. We saw a Hawaiian hawk and wild pig during our outing. My family also loved the Kuhl suspension bridges. A safe and fun adventure! Great experience from start to finish.
