We had the best time! Our guide was excellent, Derek, was experienced, kind, attentive, funny and got us to the right place at the right time to see the most magnificent eruption! Once in a lifetime experience thanks to our guide because he prioritized our opportunity to see it since it clouded over within an hour! Plenty of water and snacks. Wonderful cultural opportunities along the way. Beautiful waterfalls! Derek shares history, knowledge of plants and made it fun for my son, who thinks he is the best guide in the world! We had an amazing experience with Meixia (the guide)as our guide. My wife has an electric wheelchair, and the company was very accommodating. We were picked up at our condo The Worldmark in Kona and dropped back off there. His knowledge of the history of the island and stories were very interesting. Was an all day long adventure and he never seemed to tire. Would truly recommend booking with him. He also was able to give us great tips on other things to go and see on the island since Meixia is a born and raised native.

We recently went on the Ohana Big Island Tour. Miexia was an awesome tour guide. We heard many interesting historical facts throughout the day. It was amazing how many sites we visited…..from a coffee farm to the black sand beach with the green turtles to the National Volcano Park. Miexia kept everyone engaged with many stops. This tour was the highlight of our trip to the Big Island.

My experience with Ohana Tours was excellent! It was more personal than going through a typical hotel concierge. My tour guide “Leon” was always courteous, polite and friendly. I would recommend him for your Big Island tour. He’s knowledgeable about his community and island, he makes it fun, and an overall a great exploration experience, It’s obvious he cares about the people, the island, and everything that occurs on a day to day basis. If you are thinking of this tour, don't hesitate to sign up. Cousin Leon was the best. He is most knowledgeable about the Hawaiian culture and history, the land and its formations. We saw homes and businesses devastated by recent hurricanes, visited a coffee farm/producer, a chocolate candy, Black Sand Beach, the Volcanoes National Park (along with its geology and history). We ate at a restaurant on the rim of the Halema'uma'u crater, while watching active steam vents and the glow of molten lava. Also on the tour, we visited the Kilauea Ike Rainforest with beautiful waterfalls and lush tropical vegetation. We were able to walk through a lava tube formed by flowing lava and do a close-up to active steam vents. Our tour also took us through the city of Hilo. Leon did a wonderful job and we would highly recommend this tour!!

Our Big Island in a Day tour was fantastic. We had Leon as our guide and he was very knowledgeable about the island and told us many interesting stories. We enjoyed visiting a Kona coffee farm, a black sand beach where we saw some sea turtles, the waterfalls and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where we did see some activity. Lunch was at an El Salvadoran food truck which was delicious. The stop at the chocolate store was great too. All in all a wonderful tour thanks to Leon. I would definitely recommend this tour.

The whole experience was amazing! It was an all day outing and hit all the highlights of the big island. The size of our group was perfect, 7 of us. Our tour guide Leon was also amazing! He was very informative, knowledgeable and funny! He welcomed us as Ohana and made the experience a truly memorable and enjoyable experience! I would definitely do it again!!

Would recommend this company to anyone looking to do the circle tour of the Big Island. Most of the tour companies will bring you to the same attractions but I was glad I chose Ohana Tours as Leon was a great guide, full of humour and incredible local knowledge.

We booked Ohana Tours’ Big Island in a Day and would happily recommend it. Miexia was a great guide. He was friendly, kept the day moving, and made a long itinerary feel easy. Pickup and drop-off were super convenient, which took a lot of stress out of covering so much of the island in one day. This tour is perfect if you want a little taste of the Big Island’s major sights without planning the driving yourself. You hit the highlights and get a real sense of what the island has to offer. The only thing to know going in is that you don’t get a lot of time at each stop. It’s a sampler, not a slow day at one or two places. That was fine for us and still felt like a 5-star day because the guide, logistics, and overall experience were so good. If you’re short on time and want the “greatest hits” version of the Big Island, this is a great choice.

My extended family of 6 with ages ranging from 90 to 19 booked the Big Island in a day tour. While the tour encompassed a full 9-10 hours of the day, our guide Leon provided an excellent experience. He provided knowledge of the history island as well as the geology needed to understand the island’s origins. In addition, he made the journey personal by relying family and friends of his that lived in the various villages and towns that we toured through. My entire family enjoyed the outing which is no small feat given the variety of personalities. Thoroughly looking forward to another tour when we return to the Big Island. Highly recommended this adventure. You won’t regret it!

The café we went to for lunch was awesome. A great variety and massive portions. If you like pancakes get ready.

We had such a great experience with Ohana Tours! This is an action packed day with comfortable transportation and a knowledgeable and personable tour guide, Miexia ( pronounced Meesha). His historical knowledge and insights and just overall love for Hawaii were apparent and added so much to an already cool experience with coffee and macadamia nut farms where we were able to try free samples with the option to purchase, black sand beaches where we saw 3 turtles sun bathing, volcano craters and lava tubes where we got to see a small eruption! (Nothing quite like seeing a volcano erupt in person!!), a fantastic lunch with large portion sizes and great prices (one of our best meals of the trip!), and two beautiful waterfalls! We highly recommend booking with Miexia at Ohana Tours!!

I really wasn’t expecting anything major when I was getting ready for this trip, a nine hour car ride with a few sightseeing stops on the way. I couldn’t be more wrong. Our guide was genuinely one of the coolest guys we’ve ever met and we saw some of the most memorable things I’ve ever seen in my life. Each time we hopped back on the bus, it didn’t feel like a drag waiting for the next stop, because somehow I knew the next stop was going to be better than the last. This was the best thing we did on the trip by far, and I can’t wait to come back and do it again!

We had an amazing tour of the island. Miexia picked us up directly from our hotel and we learned quite a bit of Hawaiian history througout the day. All the stops were wonderful, and we were fortunate enough to see lava flowing from Kiluea. I highly recommend Miexia and this tour for anyone visiting the Big Island.

Absolutely amazing experience with Ohana Tours! We almost gave up on this tour because we had a very tight schedule with our flight later that evening. We called Ohana Tours to explain, and they were incredibly kind and accommodating. They let us keep our luggage in the van and even dropped us off directly at the airport after the tour! Leon was an incredible guide—funny, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. Throughout the day, he shared fascinating stories about the island’s history, Hawaiian culture, and local life. The tour takes you around the Big Island and lasts all day, but every stop was worth it. Honestly, it felt 0% like a tourist trap. Such a great way to experience the island. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful experience on our Big Island tour! Unfortunately, the volcano was closed and the macadamia nut farm wasn’t available either, but our guide did an excellent job adapting the tour on the spot. He was able to come up with alternative stops and show us other interesting places that we otherwise wouldn’t have experienced. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the island and its history. The vehicle was also very comfortable, which made for a relaxing day of exploring. Even with the unexpected closures, he made sure we still had a fantastic experience. His flexibility and knowledge really made the difference. Overall, I had a great day and would definitely recommend this tour!

A must do tour if you are the Big Island! We had to adjust things due to Hurricane Lala! They made sure we accomplished all of our goals. So knowledgeable about the island!

Aloha to Miexia and the entire Ohana tours team, Wow!!!! What an amazing tour!!!! We were a party of 8 (4 adults & 4 TEENAGERS ) and one other small group cancelled last min, so we got the private luxury tour bus all to ourselves, with unlimited supply of cold water and plenty of bathroom breaks. For us, a tour is nothing without the right guide, and Miexia was absolutely fantastic and as genuine as they come!! So much history and knowledge runs through his veins, the tour exceeded everyone's expectations. His timing was perfect, he knew exactly where to take us and when to avoid the crowds, and the day was full of both laughter and meaningful conversations that engaged the lot, even during the in-between drives from site to site. He tickled every sense throughout the day; the history for the curious, the sights for the visual enthusiasts among us, and the culinary delights - only known by the locals - for us foodies. The entire day was full of memories that'll last a lifetime. I've traveled around the world, and was fortunate enough to partake in many tours with some amazing guides, and Miexia is easily at the top of my list now. We had an amazing experience with Miexia. We’ve done several of these “highlights” tours on our travels and this one was the best. Pickup/dropoff was easy — Miexia picked us up right at our hotel. In addition to the various locations (all wonderful!), our tour was filled with fun history lessons about Hawaii’s history, local places to go, and other fun facts. Miexia related to my family — including two teenage boys…not easy to do! When he learned about my boys’ love of baseball, he even offered to make a quick pit stop (2 minutes) to see the banyan tree that Babe Ruth planted in Hilo. We jumped out, took a quick picture, and hopped back in the van. He really made the trip special. Highly recommend.

Great experience on the Ohana Tour. Leon our driver and Tour guide was excellent. I have been to the Big Island at least a half dozen times but never made it around the entire island. This was definitely the way to do it. Our stops were not only beautiful and fun but so much more interesting with Leon’s great local personal knowledge of the Hawaiian history, culture, flora and storytelling.. I honestly don’t usually do tours on vacation but this one was very much so worth it.
