It was a good, but not great, experience for the price paid. I expected more, honestly. It was basically an expensive buffet and show. Both the food and show were great, but once again, not at the price. Photos and drinks are not included; I definitely think they should have been, at the very least. I thought there would be more activities and things to do, but no, it’s just a dinner and show. There are 3 small activities that you can do before the show, but you could do them all in 5 minutes and they’re nothing to write home about. At one point during the show, they do invite you to stand up at your table and learn a dance with them with any 5 minutes. All in all, we enjoyed our time, but in the future we would choose to spend our money on other activities and dinners.

The Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau is a celebration of the beauty and stories of the land area known as Kalāhuipuaʻa. Considered the “piko” (center) of the majestic mountains of Haleakalā, Kohala, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualālai, the Mauna Lani is a special place to all who have the privilege of enjoying its beauty. Traditionally, lūʻaus are important family celebrations with a feast of favorite foods, sharing of moʻolelo (story telling), mele (music) and hula. Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau brings together all of these while sharing Mauna Laniʻs majestic history and the true essence of aloha, ʻohana (family) and kuleana (responsibility) with everyone in attendance.

Great experience for solo, couples or families! Food was amazing and the entertainment could not have been better.
Worth the time and money. Very well organized and entertaining. The food was plentiful and a great variety. Party of 7 and we had a great time!
The Mauna Lani Luau is truly a feast for the senses. Set in a stunning location, the natural beauty of the surroundings creates an unforgettable backdrop for the evening. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and full of aloha spirit. The food was delicious, offering a wonderful variety of flavors that showcased Hawaiian and Polynesian traditions. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and added to the authenticity of the experience. The highlight for me was the performance. The dancers were captivating, each movement telling a story from different cultures across the Pacific. The combination of music, hula, and storytelling was mesmerizing, and you could feel the pride and passion in every performance. If you’re looking for an evening that blends breathtaking scenery, incredible food, and a heartfelt celebration of culture, the Mauna Lani Luau is an absolute must.
Don’t waste your money.! This Luau was so overpriced for what you get. We paid $1400. for six people. The food selection was extremely limited. It included only 1 alcoholic beverage per person. Our additional 2 drinks we purchased came to $50 not including tip! This was at the Mauna Lani resort on Big Island so we thought it would be even nicer than the Luau we attended last year at the Fairmont Orchid but that wasn’t the case at all. We love going to Luau's when visiting the islands every year and have been to many. So you can trust me when I say the Luau at Fairmont Orchid resort on Big Island is far.superior and the grounds are stunning! You won’t be disappointed!
Area too large and in too much sunlight. The stage was way too small to be seen clearly and the narration was hard to hear and understand.
My husband and I had the absolute best time! This Lūau has everything you would want from the food to the activities to the entertainment. It was nothing short of fantastic. The fire dancer was the coolest thing ever!
Great experience. The luau itself is probably the best I’ve seen- the music and signing made it truly unique and fun. The food was very good as well.
The show was great and the food but for almost $800 dollars I should have been closer to the stage. There was only 4 of us so it’s pricey and it was supposed to be VIP parking but they said self parking was closer so why sell that point?
The storyteller, the fire dancer and all of the dancers were tremendous, and so was the music! The food was delicious. Our party of 16 very much appreciated being seated together.
My experience is like many others. So I'll compare my experience from other Luaus. I've been to several on the other islands. The highlights of what this Luau stood out amongst the others were the unavailing of the imu pit pig. It was probably the best tasting pig I've had. They also had games in between performances. The M.C. was very good too. If I were to critique it probably the lack of dessert variety. Very small choices. And alcohol drink options. Few things I went to order and was told we didn't have or couldn't make. But still great experience. Highly recommend
I’d say the food was “good” and the show was “good”, but the $230 price tag is absurd and absolutely not worth it in my opinion. For that price I’d be expecting something pretty amazing. There are so many other better things for that price.
Fabulous food and amazing entertainment. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Find and play the games/activities as soon as you get there, they weren’t well advertised so we mostly missed that part. The show was very enjoyable but the fire dancer dropped his stick a few time. For this premium price, we would expect more experienced performers.
Its okay. Appreciate the entertainment and history through story telling. I have been to better luau’s on other islands for far less.
Fantastic luau. Best ever from experiences. Highly recommend. Super food. Small group with great viewing of show. Very entertaining.
This Luau had incredible food, story telling, music and dance. The fire knife dance was amazing. I have been to several other Luau's on the Hawaiian islands and this was a step above the rest. 100% worth the cost. Would do it again in a heart beat.
Very fun entertainment, pleasant support staff, music, dancing and singing were great! Excellent venue close to parking.
I was really excited for this experience as I read positive reviews on several sites. I've been to other luaus and this was a huge let down! The only positive thing was that the show and the performances were great. I saw their menu on their website so I emailed before making a reservation because my family and I have dietary restrictions. They assured me they had fish options at the grill station. They did NOT! When I inquired with one of the managers they went and asked the chefs to make some for us. After about 30 min they brought 3 pieces of fish for my party of 6. The fish was not marinated or seasoned. They told me to use the hot sauce, salt and pepper to season it myself. At this point I had lost my appetite and my family just ate some fried rice and grilled vegetables. Aside from that, there was also some serious health hazards with flies all over the hot food section and all over our drink and food at the table. Luckily the show ended at 8 so I had time to grab some food elsewhere since I didn't have a proper dinner. I honestly wish they had just the show option because that was the only highlight of this experience. The "buffet" was pretty mediocre compared to what I've seen. If you have dietary restrictions, I would not consider this luau.
The food was good and the entertainment was exceptional. The host’s voice was beautiful and all the dancers showed grace and talent when they performed. The show had a nice storyline of the Hawaiian culture. The preshow activities were fun, just wished we would have had a few minutes more experiencing them. Truly lovely evening
The story teller was pretty entraining and the show was interactive. Very nice dances. The food was tasty, my favorite was the rice and pork. The show lasted for about 2.5 hours. Will recommend.
We attended the Island Breeze Hale Hoaloha Luau with family visiting and it was a highlight of their trip. The check-in process was quick and seamless, first receiving a complimentary Mai tai, then leis from very welcoming greeters, last, taking a family photo with the photographers. The venue was beautiful and spacious. The yard games with members of the cast before the luau was a hit for all the kids in attendance. We were all looking forward to the food as we had heard amazing things about it and it did not disappoint! They had a large keiki buffet table for the kids which our 10 year old niece loved. The adult table had a large variety of options. The local dishes of Poke, poi, lomi salmon and Kailua pork were so flavorful. The show itself was beautiful. We enjoyed the MC, Sefa’s storytelling and voice as he sang. The band and hula was all incredible. You really saw the dancers skill and joy as they performed. The show wrapped up with one of the best Fire-knife performances! Our niece had a front row seat on the lawn to watch and was captivated the entire time! Thank you Island Breeze for such a beautiful evening and creating a space for our family to make memories we’ll hold forever.
I'd say this is the best Luau on the island. The food was an authentic Hawaiian meal: great poke, poi, teriyaki chicken, kalua pork, there wasn't a bad thing in the buffet. The performance itself was inside due to rain, but the show was excellent nonetheless and it was cool to learn about the history of Hawaii in this way. You can tell that the dancers and the MC stewarded the Hawaiian culture and story well. Overall 10/10 I have already recommended it to people. This is a must do.
When we arrived at the luau, we were greeted with a welcome beverage and a pleasant invitation to explore the grounds. There were games for The food at the luau was absolutely delicious children to play, and we were seated inside for the show. There was a buffet that was delicious including fresh shrimp Aji pokey barbecued teriyaki chicken, coffee, crusted beef along with a delicious, sweet potato salad green salad. There were multiple types of rice. There was a buffet just for the children all in all the food was absolutely the star ofthe show. The entertainment was wonderful and all around the experience was delightful. Every guest was given a necklace to Wear of Kukui nuts and Family. Photos were taken and provide provided to each member, which was a really nice thing to leave with.
Great experience on the Big Island! Staff is attentive and welcoming. Property and venue is lovely. Food is scrumptious. Show is well done and entertaining for everyone.
Loved this luau! Food was amazing. Drinks are a little expensive but if you are planning to stick to the one complementary drink then you are good. Soft drinks are unlimited. As a family of five I do think it was worth the money! The entertainment was fantastic! It really made us feel like we were fully immersed in Hawaii. We would go back!
The performers were amazing and there wasn't a single bite of the food that wasn't great! We were hoping it would be a major highlight of our trip and it didn't disappoint.
Amazing food entertainment and service! The pork that was roasted in the pit with the leaves and burlap was really cool to see and delicious!
My husband and I went with our best friends - we all kept saying how much we really enjoyed the show and the food. The whole experience was worth every penny. My favorite was the singing .Hands down the main singer had a voice of a angel that just hit you with profound empathy and definitely lured you in into their world ! I would recommend the experience to anyone.Plus the food - there was so much and it tasted wonderful.
I enjoyed the time with family and learning about the culture and being able to experience different foods and seeing their traditional ways of cooking. If you have never experienced a luau before I would highly recommend this one to anyone who wants to go to one. To the luau Hale Hoaloha I want to say Mahalo for sharing your culture with everyone.
Fabulous night of entertainment. The dancing and story telling exuded pure joy. Every detail was perfect from being warmly greeted and seated to the delicious spread of food. Buffets are not usually my thing but this was excellent. It’s really a must do!
Our family of 7 loved the luau! The venue was beautiful. We took advantage of the VIP option and were seated at the front. We were first up at the buffet and the food was delicious and plentiful and we had a wonderful server (thank you, Celeste!). The highlight, though, was the charismatic MC and the show! The storytelling, dancing, songs and fire show were outstanding. Our 5 year old granddaughter even got on stage with other guests and learned a Hawaiian dance. A very special evening for all. 🩷
The Luau was a lot of fun. The food was excellent as they even had a kids food section for the buffet. The pork from the roast pig was the best. The fire dancer was quite amazing!
A very well executed, warm, and endearing experience! From the time we stood in line to gain entrance, we were greeted and catered to. Fantastic staff, with great instructions and very thoughtful execution. You are moved from one point to the next ( check in, leis, pictures) then to seating. They bring tables up for food in order so you are not standing in an endless line. The facitlity was immaculately manicured as well. The MC was multi-talented, engaging, and humorous. They culture shared was such a blessing for us to witness. We will definitely be recommending to everyone we know travelling the big island. Mahalo for the wonderful memories and experience!
Amazing experience. Very authentic and classy. Food was amazing and the performance was really fun. Thanks guys.
This luau was an absolute delight for our entire family. We had an incredible time. The show was traditional, and the food was absolutely delicious . The ambiance at the private garden area was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. I highly recommend this luau to anyone looking for a memorable experience.
My wife and I went to this to celebrate our 60th anniversary and we were not in the least disappointed! Everyone was presented with a lei and a wine cocktail and then escorted to their preassigned seats. The story telling, singing and dancing were mesmerizing and made the whole evening magical. We even got a shout out from the stage during the performance! The unveiling of the pig from the pit at the start of things was interesting to watch. Oh, the roast pig was delicious, too. The fruit and salad buffets were mounded with fresh offerings and the entree buffet offered two types of rice, chicken, steak and, of course pork. If you left hungry it was your own fault. Throughout the night, the waitstaff were very attentive to the point we felt spoiled. The fire dancing at the end, after dark, was a great treat to wrap up the evening. Yes, it’s a bit expensive, but we felt it was very well worth it. Highly recommend going.
This was our first Luau and it was wonderful. The venue was gorgeous and intimate, the food was deliscious, (poke was amazing, coming from someone who doesn't much care for it) and the show was fantastic. Very much appreciated the lei and beverages on arrival. Our light at our table was not working and when brought to the attention of the bartender they called someone over to fix it and they said they would do it later. Eating your dinner in the dark was a little weird not knowing what you were getting a bite of. The light was never fixed. But otherwise we enjoyed it very much. Would have given a 5 if no snaffu with the light.
Seeing pig removed from the ground was the best. The music and dancers were so good. The MC had the mist enjoyable voice to listen to. Man could he sing. Great night
Being from Hawai’i we’ve had our share of lūʻau ʻs and my husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. The way they greeted us at the entrance with a Mai -Tai, and quickly got us checked in, to sitting at a table with strangers since it’s “ ‘ohana style” and getting to know them was pleasant. The show itself is authentic, really well done - not cheesy or too touristy for kamaʻāina guests. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the ambiance of a smaller venue than a larger scale lūʻau. It was personable and intimate, and perfect for our special date night.
Wonderful setting, very well organized and thoughtful. So inviting! The food is absolutely delicious and love the setup of multiple food tables. The staff and performers are a special treat!! Fabulous experience 🙂
The food and service was great, and the show was very entertaining. The performers all did an excellent job.
Elegant beautiful setting. Well coordinated bountiful, delicious buffet. Demonstration of the pig coming out of the traditional pit was almost thrilling. Great professional Hawaiian entertainment. A totally enjoyable experience.
We spent NYE attending the luau at the Mauna Lani and had an amazing evening. The food was delicious and the show was both informative and spectacular to watch. A great way to ring in the new Year.
Great experience! Excellent entertainment, engaging activities for children and excellent food. I would recommend this luau to big island visitors.
The fire dance was incredible. The storyteller and team had beautiful voices and the dancing was inspiring. Our kids are still talking about the evening. It’s been our favorite activity on the island.
The grounds were very nice and clean. Drink were expensive, $20 for a glass of wine, but the food waa really good. We enjoyed the show as well. Ive been to many luaus on other islands and I liked this one the best. I definitely recommend seeing this one. It was more personal and less commercialized like most others.
Wow, everything was amazing and they did make you feel like Ohana. Good food to awesome personality. Service was always on point and they do have other drink beside alcoholic drinks. A must do if you visiting, plenty of food so come hungry. The show everything from sound to light to the performance was amazing.
Good show and good food however the sound system was poor - we would have liked to hear his stories, but could not understand most of what was said.
Very friendly and warm welcome at the wonderful facility on Mauna Lani! We arrived an hour early but had no issue receiving the complimentary valet service while walking around the beach before the event. Staff was kind to direct us to the Pavilion where the event was. Great buffet style food, alcohol drinks available for purchase with credit card and the bartender was amazing! Made great cocktails and had an incredible memory. There are family activities guests can participate before the Luau starts. Friendly note is to bring some sort of shade with you if visiting in the summer season since it starts outdoors just before sunset!
