We did the UTV and I would recommend this for a family. Enjoyed listening to the Hawaiian history. Be aware of the road in as it is very bumpy and you need to be super careful with your vehicle. Also, it is tailored to novice riders so if you want to go faster, this might not be for you.
Great history of the natural land in Hawaii. Educational. The ATVs and side by sides were fun. Lots of wild animal to see
We the 8 of us had a great experience with Sam and Polumalo they were very knowledgeable about the Hawaiian way and history of the island and of their land they are working. We had fun on the trails saw wild boar also. Learning of the plants and the land was a great addition we didn’t know we were getting. Safety is first with them and they take the time to make sure you know what you are doing.
Great experience ! Hanna was a great host! Enjoyed the atv with my son and fiancé. Will be booking again with my family. Love it!
We chose the UTV package and it was an absolute blast. It was a good blend of Hawai'i history and technical trail riding. The guides were knowledgeable and made the tour even more special. Would highly recommend
Great time, fun trails, good stories, fresh fruit to try would recommend for a date or a nice family excursion, Alana had great recommendations around the island.
We went on the farm tour and had the best time riding through the ranch, looking at the animals, and eating the fresh fruit!! I would highly recommend this!
Friendly, caring, patient, knowledgeable and understanding are just some of the adjectives that describe the tour guides at Ohana Ranch. We traveled with a family of 15 including 7 children. We arrived 15 minutes late and the tour had already left. Mike was so understanding and instead of having us reschedule, he was extremely accommodating and arranged separate UTV’s and a fantastic guide who helped us catch up to the regular tour. The guides shared island history, folk lore and their personal love of the island. The tour was not only fun but educational! I highly recommend.
We took our whole family for the off-road / UTV farm tour and it was super fun! Very informative/ educational on Hawaii culture, farming, plants/agriculture and more. The kids loved the UTV's splashing through the mud and bumping around on the dirt roads. We had a blast and the tour guides Alana and Kalani were great! And the hosts were very helpful accommodating a large part of our group that was running late, which was so nice because they definitely didn't have to do that. Definitely recommend Ohana Ranch!!
So much fun for the whole family! We brought our whole family from grandma to our 2-year-old and everyone had a blast. It was super informative and we learned a lot about Hawaiian culture, farming, native plants and more!! The kids loved splashing through the mud on the UTV's and bumping around on the dirt roads. The tour guides Alana and Kalani were great and the hosts went above and beyond accommodating a large part of our group that was running late, which they definitely didn't have to do. We loved our tour and would absolutely recommend Ohana Ranch!!
It may be very wet, and the trip will proceed. Learned some interesting native culture and botanical knowledge including sampling several fruits off the tree/vine. Good two hour adventure ( plus drive time). Maka’ala and Pono are entertaining and informative guides.
Watching my children try a new food and enjoy it was just heart melting. The information Hannah shared with us was so great - they were very knowledgeable. My two nine year olds were engaged and learning the whole tour.
Amazing experience! The guides, Kalani and Alana, shared many interesting stories about they're culture, and really made it a fun adventure. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anybody looking for an authentic Hawaiian adventure! Mahalo, from the Lawsons and Greenhalghs!
We were on our first family staycation from Oahu and this adventure really helped make the trip worth while. It was obvious that the people who tend this land care for it deeply and want to spread that aloha. It was the perfect mix of fun and learning. Would 100% return.
Great experience and awesome trails. Highly recommend this for family and friends! Can’t wait to come back again to see how the farm has grown!
Such a great experience! Highly recommend! Guide was so sweet and full of incredible information about the land. Such a good time
Great experience! Very informational, great cultural experience, great vibes! highly recommended when in the area!
We had a great time at Ohana Ranch on the UTV tour. Our guides on the tour were Maka’ala and Pono. The entire experience felt welcoming and laid-back, and you can tell the guides really care about what they do. We enjoyed learning about the history of the plants grown on the ranch and how they’re connected to Hawaiian culture. Riding through the farmland was beautiful. There’s so much unique vegetation to see, and we loved getting to try fresh fruit along the way. We even spotted some of the farm animals and a few wild boars, which was a fun surprise. Overall, it was a memorable adventure for our family and a great way to experience the natural side of the Big Island. We hope to come back again soon!
Very fun and informative tour, very personable tour guides. Informative on plant life and mythology behind some plants in cultural practice or historical information.
David and Alana gave us a great tour of the ranch and the history of their amazing culture and people we definitely be going back.
Great ride. It was raining and the trail was super muddy and wet. It was an awesome ride. Robert was a great guide and gave us a lot of information about the ranch and Hawaiian traditions.
Alana was an amazing guide. We learned a lot while being on this tour. Alana is friendlyeasy to talk to, and very knowledgeable with the land.
Good sized crowd, Alana and Sam were very informative and passionate. They know a lot about the land and the stories behind it. Mahalo for the tour guys!
We had a very excellent host Kanoe, what a adventure she took us on. Very knowledgeable in the Hawaiian culture. It was a blast.
Our guide was very nice! Our daughter was having some ear problems due to elevation of the island and he was super patient and kind with her. He also gave great recommendations for local activities/food.
Alana was an amazing tour guide! The Ohana Ranch was beautiful and the pace of the tour was perfect for our family. We loved planting the taro root to be part of the land. Mahalo!
I had a truly wonderful time with Alana! She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel comfortable from the very beginning. Her passion and energy turned the whole experience into something unforgettable. She made sure we were safe, well cared for, and most importantly — that we were having fun!
Fun couple hours exploring a small ranch just outside hilo. It is a guided route at a pace that allows all skill levels to enjoy the experience. Saw a few cows, goats, mongoose, and pigs. Stopped to learn about puna coffee, kalo plants, eat guava, and wild raspberries. As with all offroad adventures, anticipate getting a little dusty or muddy depending on recent weather. Great tour at ohana ranch.
Great trip start to finish! Mahalos to braddah Robert for being our guide, dropping awesome knowledge and stories for all the stops along the way! Our trip was a bit wet but made all the more memorable - yummy fruit, coffee trees (didn’t know it was fruit and they grew on trees?), and a bunch of animal friends made this such a cool experience! I’ve done a bunch of these before on pretty all the islands and this was definitely my favorite one. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Excellent tour. We had a wonderful time with Alana!!! A terrific experience!!!!! Thank you and highly recommended!!!!
It was an overall amazing experience to see the wildlife, the native plants and to learn about the culture! Huge shout out to our guide Alana
This was a fun experience and not to be missed. We used the 4 person UTV on a 2 hour trip through Ohana Ranch stopping 5 times for the guide to describe Hawaiian culture, plant a small cutting, and sample local fruit. The hands on portion is engaging. Admission fee is reasonable for a family on an experience of this length and type. Prepare to get dirty. Alot of dust was kicked up and there are mud puddles to drive through. Makaala, our guide was very knowledgeable about Hawaiian culture and very patient with the group in going through everything from basic safety rules to driving the UTV and ATVs. He didn't rush through anything and answered all our questions .There are some items to buy before leaving - 100% whole bean Kona coffee that is very fragrant and small jars of honey. This is a very enjoyable experience for all ages.
The tour was great, we learned about local Hawaiian culture from a great tour guide Alina. It was family friendly experience.
Alana was a great tour guide who shared the Hawaiian culture with us. The trip was a fun, family friendly time. The length of the tour was perfect.
Fantastic small group experience! Fair price and felt like a very family friendly event. Machines were clean and well maintained and the ranch was beautiful.
Great for young children. Experience a working ranch with goats and cows, learn about native plants and give back by planting in the raised bed garden
Alana was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable of the farm and the history of the island. It was a fun ride around to try fresh fruit being grown on the farm, we got to pet goats and the cows run around like giant puppies.
Bo was a great guide. Learned a lot from him. Farm is beautiful and ATV’s a lot of fun! A great addition to our Hawaiian vacation.
Utv ride was good but expected to see a little more than we did. The only animals seen were a few small goats. The road going into the ranch was very rough on our vehicle.
Super great experience, Alana was super informative, talked about a lot the local culture and everyone was amazing. I really enjoyed it and plan to come back to do the other activities here as well!
Great day to ride out. Great tour guide with Robert. He was very informative about the ranch and about Hawaiian culture.
So much fun! Our tour guide Alana was super nice, laid back, and informative about, general rules and use of the UTV’s, and actual purpose of the ranch. Overall highly recommend, probably the best part of our visit yet. Mahalo Nui Loa :)
This was a great and relaxing experience! Our guide Robert was amazing. We learnt a lot about the Hawaiian culture. Mahalo!!
We had an awesome ATV tour with Ohana! The trail was super fun: mix of sun and shade, forest and open fields, muddy puddles, and tree roots that made the ride exciting. There were a few stops where we learned about the local culture and community. Ohana is run by local women who are all about bringing people together through traditional farming and the aloha spirit. It really felt good to support a local business that’s doing something meaningful for the community.
We had a mix up with the Viator app. We needed to book 16 people and the telephone operator that I was talking to did not confirm the booking; therefore, the tour operators were not aware of the 16 people. Regardless of the mix up, Robert and the team were AMAZING. They helped me talk to the telephone operators prior to our tour when we arrived. They were patient, kind, and generous. They were still able to accommodate us and with a great tour. They helped us situate the issue with the Viator app. The tour was roughly 2 hours. Robert was able to find us guavas to try, introduced us to the ranch dogs, told us stories about the island. We were all thoroughly impressed and loved this part of the trip. You can tell they care and respect their land, which enhanced the experience. I would definitely come back for this every time I come to the Big Island.
Awesome experience! Great trails, Nice views of farm and forest. The ATVs ran excellent. Our tour guide kanoe was awesome and very knowledgeable of the area and plant life. There are a few mud areas to get dirty if you want to. I highly recommend ohana farm tour!!
