Excellent way to see the sights around Kona! Pick-up was a short walk from the tender pier, map and suggested sights to see were provided, and communication was quick and easy (our tenders were running late and it was no problem). Would definitely use again!

This is a fantastic way to see parts of the big island! With the wind in your hair and the sun on your face and the cooler in the back with seats and towel towels- you are in charge of your own destiny (led by the maps and fantastic spots to go see by Kurt) - and you can stay as long as you like it each area or skip them and just go to some or go to all. Was fantastic and wonderful, and everybody was friendly as we drove by in our bright yellow car. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

Since the booking, Aaron was very responsive and provided great customer service. Any questions we had they answered and provided a lot of suggestions. I would definitely rent from them again!

Sadly our cruise ship could not disembark in Kona. True to their word Big Island Buggy refunded our funds with no prompting or fuss. Wish we could of have enjoyed one of their buggies. For sure they have our 100% trust.

Big Island Buggy was the best rental ever! Renting the our green buggy was great. The experience of driving the Big Island in the buggy was wonderful. Aaron & Debi gave great advice about what can get done in the time we had during our port visit. They delivered the buggy to hotel across from the prier and then picked up from the same spot. No worries or hassles just a fun time with the wind in your hair.

We were out for 6 hours drove from Kona to Hilo. Had a great lunch and saw the water falls. Aaron and Debi are great people and showed us where to go to see the falls. Very friendly and happy.

This is our third time renting from Big Island Buggy over the years and it is just as fun now as the first time. Aaron and Debi, the owners, make everything quick and easy and before you know it you are cruising the coast with the wind in your hair and everyone turning their heads to check out your ride. They really take the time to guide you on great places to go based on your interests, which makes the experience even better. This trip we rented three buggies, an automatic and two manuals. The two seater “Tang” is a zippy, fun manual to drive and its bright yellow color really grabs people’s attention. It is also one of the most affordable / cheap excursions in Kona. You get hours of exploring, total freedom to go where you want, and a ride that makes the whole trip more memorable. If you are new to the island, they even have a QR code you can scan that pulls up a map with great local recommendations, which is a nice touch. After three visits I can say this is one of those experiences that never gets old. We will keep coming back every time we visit.

Renting from Big Island Buggy was hands down one of the coolest highlights of our trip! Aaron and Debi are awesome! They were waiting for us with one of their super-stylish dune buggies decked out with an unexpected and appreciated “Happy Birthday banner.”Our buggy was fully loaded with everything we needed: beach chairs, towels, even USB ports to keep our phones charged for all the photos we couldn’t stop taking. After dropping some greatly appreciated “personal favorite suggestions” on us, we revved up our buggy and hit the island in style. It was the perfect mix of freedom, fun, and full-throttle adventure. These aren’t your average rentals—they’re head-turning, highway-cruising, beach-hopping machines! We cruised through Kona stopping to enjoy an exclusive private beach, then off to enjoy an incredibly tasty lunch followed by a visit to Big Island Coffee Roasters for a taste of authentic Kona coffee. On our way back we had time to explore and enjoy a visit to the Kings Shoppes and grab some super delicious gelato, all at our own pace. This was an absolutely awesome birthday surprise from my Mrs, complete with a buggy’s eye view of paradise, and let me tell you—it’s pure magic. Big Island Buggy isn’t just a rental—it’s an experience. If you’re looking for the most fun you’ll ever have on four wheels, this is it. Don’t just visit the Big Island… buggy it!

The car was in excellent condition, handheld great, was fun to drive and the addition of the beach towels, umbrella and chairs was fantastic. Being able to see the island on our own schedule gave us maximum freedom and flexibility. If you like doing your own thing, this is for you, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We had the BEST time renting a 2-seater manual shift dune buggy from Big Island Buggy in early March—it was easily one of the highlights of our entire Hawaii trip! My wife and I spent the day in Kona during one of our stops on our 18 day Hawaii cruise. Rather than taking another ship sponsored shore excursion, we opted instead to rent a buggy from Big Island Buggy. It was BY FAR our most enjoyable day in Hawaii. The online rental process was super easy and pickup on the day of our rental was a breeze. The pickup location was only a short 10 minute walk from the pier where we were met by Aaron, who provided us with a map, LOTs of suggestions on where to go and what to see and even offered to supply beach towels, chairs and an umbrella (no extra charge). After a quick 5 minute instruction on how to operate the vehicle, we were on our way. The routes he suggested were fabulous with awesome views of the ocean and mountains, historic sites etc. Stops included a farmers market at the Outrigger as well as a Kona coffee tour and salt farm factory. All in all…. It was a wonderful experience and worth every penny.

Great business, all went as described ahead to us! Lots of info shared in things to do and see. Buggies were fun! Our only issue was it was super windy on our drive north and a bit scary at highway speeds, otherwise we really enjoyed them!

Super fun island tour maybe the best way to drive around the island great dune buggy comfortable seating felt very safe ran great super efficient on gas mileage and we drove around for nearly 5 hours and just had a fantastic time. Highly recommended. This is the best way to see the island.

My friends and I had such an amazing time with the buggies. We took them all the way up the coast to Hawi and Pololu lookout, then drove through the country side and ended at the beach. Aaron and Debi were super helpful in guiding us to the best spots and very friendly. Highly recommend.

Made a last minute booking the day before and got the yellow buggy "Tang"! I've always wanted to drive one of these buggies so here was my chance! They included beach chairs, towels, etc needed for our beach day, making it perfect! The buggy had USB ports so we could easily charge our phones. Couldn't recommend this enough! I say it's a must do with any visit to the big island!

Kona, Hawaii - the ultimate playground! Our day began with the timeless couple question - 'What do you want to do?' 'Well, what do you want to do?' Just as we were about to crack the code, Ellen Miller Shiplett's superhuman leaflet-grabbing skills left us in awe. I called the Big Island Buggy Company, and as luck would have it, They had one car left for a 4-hour adventure. We explored the picturesque Kona beaches, shopped for souvenirs, and returned our door-less 'chariot' with 5 minutes to spare. The memories are forever etched in our hearts! We had a wonderful time! The buggy came with 2 beach chairs, an umbrella and a cooler. The owner gave us ideas for beaches to visit and we had a lot of fun driving around. The owners are sooo friendly and helpful. We would definitely do this again! Mahalo Big Island Buggy!

What a great day! Aaron and Debi are super helpful. Exact and easy instructions for the quick walk from the cruise ship, tips on what to see, personal phone number if any questions or issues, etc. The kids loved it as the 4 of us drove around to beaches, parks, lunch, and sights. It was the one of the best highlights of the trip.

What an awesome way to spend the day and explore the beautiful island. From booking, picking up the Buggy to drop off the process was seamless. Aaron is very personable and knows all there is to know about the island. He took the time to point us in the right direction using a complementary map where he circled all the amazing points to hit. We rented for 8 hours and I’m glad we did because we used every bit of it. I was just the co-pilot and enjoyed every bit. My pilot loved the buggy and couldn’t help but express how awesome it was w/ a huge smile over and over again. This is hands down the BEST way to explore the island. I recommend ditching at least one tour you may have planned and explore it on your own in the buggy. We went about 65 miles to the east and hit Rainbow Falls, and headed North to Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Gardens and Akaka Falls. We stopped at a restaurant Aaron recommenced which was delicious. We drove through many climates which was awesome to experience. I highly recommend renting, it was a 10/10!!!

Our family rented three of the four available buggies and had an amazing time! Aaron and Debi were very helpful and Debi shared a map with directions and suggestions of places to see. The buggies were clean, fueled and ready to go. We spent a good part of the day driving south down the coast with the amazing view of the landscape and water. The buggies performed without issue and were so much fun. We would highly recommend using Big Island Buggy for future fun and sightseeing.

I want to give a big shout out to Aaron and Debi the owner of “Big Island Buggy”. They were so nice and helpful. They went above and beyond. I highly recommend supporting there small businesses and use one of there buggies to explore the island. We were not sure of where to go and the route we should take. But after getting their advice. Our experience could not have been better. Also I must let you know I mean it when I say they take care of there customers. I had a situation in which I created and I was a little worried and frustrated. So I call Aaron and told him about it and I couldn’t believe how nice and accommodating they were. I give them 5 stars. So much fun! We had an awesome day today exploring the Big Island, Kona! We met Aaron and Debi who gave us a ton of great info to get us on our way quickly! I had lots of fun driving the family around Kona. Farthest point was the painted church which is beautiful. Lots of great views of the beaches so we stopped at one to enjoy. We did the four hour rental as we had another excursion in the afternoon. For those cruising POA, the pickup spot is just a short walk from the pier and easy to find too. I liked that Aaron was very responsive in texting answering all my questions.

My wife and I had lots of fun driving the buggy and it got us where we wanted to go no problem. We were able to do the full eight hour rental even with tendering from our cruise ship in the harbor. We rented a 4 person buggy and had a great afternoon! What a fun way to explore the island!! Aaron and Debi were amazing to work with from start to finish. After we got back from a 17 day cruise to Hawaii, my wife said that the most fun we had was renting a buggy from Big Island buggy. Our daughter was along and sat in the back, and she had a ball. We got to see things that no bus tour would have given us. Great hosts and they give great insight on places to go and see. I think I can even talk my wife into getting one of these things!

Aaron and Debbie were fantasic hosts. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. They provided us with beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. They were also helpful with mapping out places for us to see during our 8 hour buggy hire. Aaron kindly met us at our hotel at the end of the day to retrieve the buggy, saving us time and taxi fares. Highlight of our vacation! What a blast we had, driving an authentic dune buggy styled like the 1960's (I think: Speed Buggy). We'd swear nobody in town had ever seen one before, yet Big Island rents several every day! We received smiles everywhere we went. In fact, we showed photos of our dune buggy to several people on our cruise ship, and all wanted to know where we rented it, how we rented it, etc. The weather was perfect that day, and the wind blew through our hair like we we in our twenties. Drove around a circuit Aaron and Debi recommended, and had an absolute blast. Speaking of Aaron and Debi, they could not have been nicer, nor more accommodating. Good honest people with a great service. We'll forever be in their debt for providing such a fun activity. On a scale of one to ten, we give Big Island Buggy an ELEVEN!

We cannot say enough about this day. We had a complete blast. The owners were so friendly from the planning stage to the drop off. They recommended sites and beaches. We went everywhere they suggested and we were so glad we did. The buggy was so easy to drive! We rented for 4 hours but extended to 8 because it was so much fun. Truly a must do!
