My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kokoleka Lani Farm and learned a lot about growing coffee and chocolate. We bought the dark chocolate bars and the Dark Roast coffee and found them to be truly delicious. My husband also loves using his handcrafted coffee cup.
Greg was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and the coffee and cacao demo was great. We also got to pet some of his chickens which was a treat!
Soap, coffee, chocolate.. not a shopping list but all the things you get to enjoy on this tour. The owner Marty built this lush garden from scratch in what was once a rock quarry. They grow some fantastic cacao here that won awards in Paris, a must try! They also grow coffee and various other plants here that are interesting and… fragrant… (the noni being one) after the farm you get to tour the soap factory and try their soaps, a must try for people with sensitive skin.
This is my second time on this tour and it's still my favorite one on the island! It offers so much from a botanical garden, to coffee and chocolate tasting and soap creation. The guide is humorous, entertaining, knowledgeable and really makes this tour shine.
This was an awesome experience. It was the best tour for the money we took on the big island. Greg was knowledgable and passionate about his farm and craft. The coffee, chocolate and soap was divine. The other staff were wonderful and helpful. I learned a lot about biodiversity farming on Hawaii.
We had a great time on our tour. I’ve been buying Kona soap for about 10 years now, and I finally pulled the trigger get a tour of the place. Loved the whole tour, including the part about growing the cacao, the coffee, and the whole process of all the soap together.
This was such a great experience. You can tell the owners of the farm take the stewardship of the land very seriously. The tour was informative and funny, and the coffee, chocolate, and soap/body products are outstanding.
One of the best experiences you can do on The Big Island. Greg, our host/owner was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the creation and workings of the farm. We learned so much about coffee, chocolate, and soap making. Without a doubt, this was one of the highlights of our trip.
This farm tour was amazing! The guide Greg was personable and totally invested in working with the land to produce his crops. We began in the orchard in the shade then walked a bit then sat in the shade for tasting and experiences with the essential oils used to make their soaps. Greg encouraged questions, comments and personal experiences and connected with each of the guests. The store was amazing..I did all my holiday shopping and shipping was only $15. A definite stop for anyone who loves chocolate, coffee, natural soaps, and sustainable agriculture! Kudos to all!
I knew this tour was going to be great from the moment the guide greeted me by name in the parking area. I was not expecting such an in depth lesson on biodiverse agriculture, but I loved every minute of it! The tour was informative and engaging. I particularly enjoyed sampling the different stages of cacao processing as well as the visit to the soap production area. Our guide was enthusiastic and a wealth of knowledge. I appreciated his inclusion of Hawaiian legends, traditions, and values. While not Hawaiian-born, he radiates Aloha and truly lives pono. I highly recommend this experience! Side note: I brought home some soap for a family member with severe skin allergies and he loves it.
Great experience. Greg was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. Would definitely do this again.
Unique, fun, sustainable farm tour with delicious coffee and chocolate tasting. We learned about plants, trees, and farm local soap making.
This was a blast. We learned tons about coffee and soap production and came home with some great souveniers and gifts. Our host was hilarious.
Greg was great. Very informative and funny.
An absolutely fantastic experience. Greg is a wealth of knowledge about coffee and cocoa cultivation, Big Island biodiversity, chemistry, you name it. His farm also makes soap from kukui and other natural oils. You will learn about how coffee beans and cocoa are grown, harvested and processed into coffee for drinking and CHOCOLATE. Their chocolate is delicious and has won international awards. Everything on their farm is done by hand, with no artificial pesticides or ingredients. They even use chickens to guard the parking lot (just kidding, they are natural pest control). Greg & all his staff are super kind and clearly passionate about what they do. A must-see tour for any Big Island trip.
Learned so much and enjoyed the coffee & chocolate samples! Greg and his team were awesome! Great gift shop as well! Would highly recommend this tour.
This is long, but interesting coffee, cocoa and natural soap tour - by the owner and expert in these matters. Funny and informative with any level of detail you might want!
What an amazing experience! Learned so much and had a blast while doing so! Greg and his staff were top notch and my husband and I had so much fun! Coffee & chocolate are delicious! And soaps mmmmmm yummy smelling!
Excellent experience. Greg has a great sense of humor and an extensive knowledge of coffee and cocoa farming and soap making. The tour was fun and informative. Assistant Tour Guide Goldie should be made 'employee of the month'. A fun and enjoyable time. Highly recommend.
Get ready to learn all about how chocolate is processed. The owner and developer was so helpful and he really knows business. I loved his humor. Then he also has a soap processing business in there using only natural essential ingredients. I have to say this was the most memorable and best tour my husband and I have been too. Not to forget the coffee beans he grows and processes. It was so interesting to hear his life story and history behind his amazing plantation.
Nice, relaxing tour. Very informative. We learned a lot about coffees, chocolate, and soap. Chickens were there to greet us.
Greg made the tour. He was personable and knowledgeable about Hawaiian history, coffee, chocolate, soap and great places to eat. It was a full and enjoyable experience - well worth the time and money.
Great job by Greg & Paul and team, very informative and the products were amazing, we learned alot on the tour.
Kona Natural Soap is truly more than great soap! Greg, the co-owner/tour guide, provided us with a behind the scenes look at a coffee farm and working soap “factory”. He takes a lot of pride in his property and likes to share his knowledge with visitors. He seems to customize the tours based on his audience. He complimented us by telling us that we had “Midwest Sensibilities”. He was both engaging and funny. If you can’t decide which tour to take while visiting Kona, and there’s a lot, this is the one.
This tour was AMAZING!! It’s not just about coffee. It’s a wealth of information about agriculture and chocolate; as well as little tidbits about skincare. Our guide Greg was very personable and knowledgeable about each subject. He presented it in a witty and humorous way which made it enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to visitors of Kona. We traveled from Detroit to Kona and found this gem on the island.
Greg was the best. His farm and tour were exceptional. Learned a lot about the farm, coffee, chocolate, and soap. The grounds were absolutely beautiful.
This was the most interesting and informative tour we have taken. The orchard discussions helped set the stage for the great product and sampling. We will continue to keep in touch with this fascinating business into the future.
This was a wonderful, wonderful Tour and I will never forget the experience and the taste of the best chocolate and coffee ever. They were so full of information and so kind. I wish they had an Airbnb so I could stay for a week.
Driving up the driveway to this small farm we got the impression of a jungle in the making. We were met at the parking area by our host, Greg, and dozen chickens. From the second we got out of our car I knew we were in for a treat. Greg greeted us by name, granted we were a small group that day, but still amazing. We received a coffee growing tutorial, and a cocoa growing lesson on the edges of his orchard. Greg shared how he took this land 20+ years ago from a barren hunk of ground, to now a working coffee and cocoa producer. We got to taste true Kona coffee, different grades of chocolate, and even experienced the uses of different essential oils which they sell. It was here we were introduced to 4 other staff members, they in themselves, brought an energy to tour. A bonus I did not expect, they also produce their own soaps, with a wide variety scents. I guess what I’m trying to convey, this was a wonderful three hour experience. You must interact with the hosts if you want to get the most out of this tour and shame on you if you don’t. Greg and company were a joy to be with. Oh ya, watch out for they’re gift shop, it’s hard NOT to buy something, lots of unique items. Thanks for the memory. A++++
We had a great time on our tour. The owner of the farm was entertaining, kind, welcoming. His love for the product he grows and makes is palpable. Chocolate tasting was great and seeing how soap is made and infused with essential oils was also very interesting.
Fantastic tour…a must do! Lots of information and the hosts were terrific, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. We felt like family. Thank you Greg, Paul and Marty, we really enjoyed this tour!
This experience has changed my life. The coffee and chocolate explanation was fantastic, the coffee and chocolate tasting was even better; I honestly don't think I've ever eaten chocolate or drank real coffee previous to this The standout however for me was the soap and oil information. The kukui nut oil is something I'd never heard of and since leaving it's all I've used. Their soap and their oils are life changing.
Our tour Guide Greg, was absolutely amazing and polite. I would 100 percent recommend this place to anyone looking for a coffee, chocolate, and soap tour. Their coffee was bar none!!
Great, immersive experience led by people who really know and love what they do. Funny, educational and well worth the time. The owners and employees (even the chickens) feel like one big family happily immersed in all parts of the business.
We enjoyed our experience, and it was memorable. Our guide was kind, funny, and taught us a lot about the cacao and coffee plants on the property. We liked that the farm is very sustainable end eco friendly. The chocolate was delicious and award winning. I could have eaten a lot more samples! Lol. The owners also have a soap making business, and we were able to purchase some wonderful products such as soap bars and kukui oil. Overall, a great experience.
Very detailed coffee, chocolate and soap! Our family had a wonderful time learning and sampling coffee and chocolate!
We enjoyed learning about all the farm’s products. Tasting the different stages of cacao and chocolate was very interesting and the soap making demo smelled heavenly!
Educational and enjoyable. Excellent guides, enjoyed the stories and history.
Greg was knowledgable and engaging.
There is a lot to love about this tour. The first portion is walking through part of the farm while learning about its history and everything that’s being grown on the farm, notably cocoa and coffee. The second half you get to taste both the Kona coffee they make on the farm as well as the chocolate they make with their cocoa beans. The coffee was great and the chocolate samples were delicious. We wrapped with a soap making demonstration for soaps they make onsite and that was very interesting as well. Our tour guide Greg was such a nice guy and so funny. I recommend taking this tour
Greg, the tour guide and owner was absolutely fantastic! He continuously demonstrated a passion for growing both coffee and cacao trees. He was both knowledgeable and entertaining. I previously did a chocolate tour on Maui. This tour presented a much broader scope of information. Tour goers learn about growing and harvesting coffee and cacao trees, how the coffee and cacao beans/pods are processed, and how to make soap. It was a most enjoyable tour for our group of four, ranging in age from 35-69 years. The location was a bit difficult to find as my iPhone led us to a different location. Have the address of this farm handy and watch the addresses on the mailboxes you will pass along the road - that will help you find the right location. Everyone in my group highly recommends this tour.
Greg and Paul were awesome guides! Greg knows a lot about the various plants and made the experience very entertaining as well as informative. Would highly recommend and am even thinking about going back tomorrow!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Kona Chocolate, Coffee, and Soap Tour. The most valuable part of the experience was learning how each product is made and hearing the story behind the farm. The guides did an excellent job explaining the coffee-growing process, chocolate production, and especially the soap-making process, which was fascinating and something we knew very little about before the tour.
We all enjoyed our tour and tasting. Greg and gang did a fabulous job sharing their knowledge of coffee and cocoa farming with emphasis on biodiversity (and chickens!) to keep the plants healthy and productive. Focus on natural farming and natural ingredients in the chocolate and soap was evident. Both the chocolate and coffee were tasty! Greg had a fun personality, was entertaining, and open to all kinds of questions. This was a very enjoyable learning experience.
While staying on the big island, we wanted to visit a farm and I’m so glad that we picked Greg‘s coffee and cocoa farm. Not only were the coffee and chocolate amazing but he also makes soap there and we got to learn all about that process as well. And we had the opportunity to buy some quality products at the end. My daughter credits their kukui oil with lavender for healing her dermatitis :) Greg and the entire team were so welcoming and helpful. We had an issue the day our tour was booked and had to move it at the last minute and Marty was so helpful and accommodating. If I had one thing to suggest for improvement, I would say to serve some sort of local biscuit or cookie with the coffee. I heard it mentioned that the cookies came from a chai store and it would’ve made the experience perfect had we got a cookie made from a local baker. There are plenty of good ones on the island.
Incredible experience. The best part of the tour 100% was the staff. They had such a strong passion for their craft and they described each aspect of their farm with so much joy and enthusiasm it made the experience that much more interesting and enjoyable. These are people who truly love what they do and because of that they make each interaction with each new group feel special. Whether they’re telling you about the history of coffee and chocolate in hawaii, or showing you the wonderful soap making process on their farm, each thing is met with amazing energy and excitement you can’t help but be incredibly invested in the experience. Overall this tour is one of the best things i’ve done on this island and i feel it was completely worth it.
The experience was very informative. There was minimal walking which was great as we had a person with a disability in our party. All the items we sampled were both delicious and great. We sampled coffee and chocolate. We also had a lesson in soap that is vegan. We learned a lot. It was a great time.
We enjoyed visiting the farm and learning how coffee and chocolate are made. The coffee and chocolate samples were delicious, Greg was a great guide and the soap making demonstration was very informative.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Greg was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and always kept us laughing. From the walk in the orchard to the cacao demonstration everything was top notch. We walked away with a wealth of knowledge and some amazing Kona soap.
