Amazing Family Surf Lesson For 3 Or 4 At Ukumehame Beach

What an amazing experience!!! We had 1 adult and 3 kids ages 10, 11, and 12, the team ensured there was multiple instructors in the water with the kids to ensure safety! The team was FANTASTIC! Everyone got up in the board multiple times! Highlight of our trip for sure. We will be back next year!

We had a wonderful experience with Soul Surfing Maui. They had all 3 of us (2 kids and 1 adult) up surfing immediately and were very attentive while we were in the water. Everyone had a great time and the pictures we received were fantastic as well.

The instructors took exceptional care of our whole family, especially our two young kids, making everyone feel safe, confident, and supported every step of the way. As complete beginners, we appreciated their patience, encouragement, and personalized attention. By the end of the lesson, we were all standing up on our boards and having an amazing time. If you’ve ever wanted to try surfing as a family, this is the perfect place to start. They turned what could have been an intimidating experience into one of the highlights of our Maui vacation—and maybe the beginning of a lifelong passion!

Cain was absolutely amazing. If you’re new to surfing, this is the place to learn. Brian was responsive to all our communication within minutes. We all came in nervous and immediately felt at ease. Highly recommend.

Brian and Eric were fantastic. Our three kids had a blast and got up on the boards and surfed the full 90 minutes! Brian made a wise choice to postpone our surf session a day bc the weather turned and wasn’t safe- we were glad he was able to accommodate us the following morning. Great lesson and experience with Brian for our first time surfing. It was myself 53 year old dad, 22 year old daughter and 19 year old son. From the minute we booked, communication was excellent with specific directions on where to meet up and what to expect. Highly recommend Brian and his team for family surf lessons. It was myself, husband, daughter (12) and son (10.) Brian and Cain were incredibly kind, patient and so encouraging with my children and us parents too. We all loved it, the kids have definitely caught the surf bug. The location is wonderful as well- waves felt really safe for first time surfing. It was an incredible experience!

He went above and beyond by helping us reschedule when the waves weren’t ideal, then fit us in last minute when our schedule opened up. Brian and Shaun were amazing teachers for the kids ages 10 & 12. They were patient and the kids each got up and surfed on the first try. Much appreciate the flexibility and willingness to work with us.

Brian was friendly, clear in instructions, and extremely positive in his critique and praise. We went in a foursome with three adults and a seventeen year-old, and seeing my niece glow with excitement from Brian’s encouragement was the highlight of our Maui trip! I highly, highly recommend!

I had a great morning surfing with Brian. It was a blast and at a beautiful stretch of beach. But what made it magical is how well they handled my 6 yr old. They hit that perfect balance where he felt all of the excitement of surfing, while also feeling completely safe the whole time. I could not recommend this more.

We had an amazing morning surfing with our instructor, Brian. Starting at 7:30 AM was perfect—the beach was empty, the winds were calm, and there were plenty of beginner-friendly waves. Brian was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and shared a ton of useful tips that made the experience both fun and educational. Considering the amount of instruction and time we received, the price was more than fair. Overall, it was an outstanding experience. 10/10, highly recommend!

We had the best experience with Brian and Shaun. Had all 3 of my family members up and surfing by the end of the lesson. Communication was excellent and even moved locations the morning of the lesson due to weather. Started a few minutes early and beat the crowd to the new location. Picture package is a must. Definitely worth the extra money. Highly recommend and one of the highlights of our trip!

Brian and Steve were amazing. This was our kid’s first time surfing. They gave them great instruction, and the kids were up surfing in no time. The kids loved Brian and Steve. They provided a wonderful, unforgettable experience.

I wanted my kids to experience a surfing lesson while we were on vacation in Hawaii so after a lot of research, I decided to book with Soul Surfing Maui. I was very impressed with how quickly (and how easy it looked) for my kids to be able to stand up and surf. My kids' ages range from 11-18 and all three of them were up on their first try. They all loved it! Brian was our instructor, and he was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining directions to the kids. If we return to Hawaii, I would book another lesson with Soul Surfing Maui!

Brian and his crew (Matt and Bennett) were fantastic instructors. They were able to recognize different abilities and challenge us appropriately. We all were able to have three super successful days of surfing and we have NEVER surfed before. We all were able to get up and surfing from day one thanks to their great teaching. It was a perfect balance of instruction, not too many details, just the important cues. As the days progressed they would leak out little nuggets to help us progress. We couldn't have been happier with the experience, it's a must for anyone wanting to get surfing, no matter your skill level..no doubt if you are an experienced surfer they will take you to the next level. Family lesson was so chill and relaxing for our beginner crew. Brian was a prepared, practical, and positive coach which made our time fun and successful! Had so much fun our teen boys booked another lesson a few days later!

We had an amazing time and everyone got up and surfed the 8, 10, 14 and 49 year old! Our instructor was friendly and put everyone at ease and gave us confidence to surf. This is absolutely the best experience to book for your time on Maui. Book it early in your trip so you can go out again. Our kids are excited to tell their friends at home that they surfed in Hawaii. Great communication and very experienced instructors. Highly recommend!

We had such an awesome family surf lesson with Brian at Soul Surfing Maui. From the start, Brian made everything easy. He texted us before we even arrived to make sure we were ready for the day and knew exactly where to go, which we really appreciated. Once we got there, Soul Surfing Maui had everything covered with rash guards, booties, and boards, so all we had to do was show up and have fun. Our whole family would definitely be considered beginners, but Brian made learning to surf enjoyable right away. He was awesome, easygoing, and never made us feel rushed. Our family ranges in age from 15 to 47, and Brian made this experience all about family. He was engaged the entire time and clearly wanted to make sure we caught as many waves as possible. Even while we waited for the next ride, the conversations were great. Brief, informative, and part of what made the whole lesson feel personal instead of just transactional. What blew us away was how quickly everyone got up and going. Within minutes of being on the water, everyone in our family was catching long, rolling waves. Our daughter was a little hesitant at first, but by the end she was an absolute rockstar on the waves. Watching her confidence build was one of the best parts of the day. The setting made it even better. We had beautiful sunny weather, incredible views of the mountains and valley, and great waves the whole time. To top it off, we saw several sea turtles popping their heads up nearby. They were so close we started joking that they were trying to catch a ride on our boards. Everything was organized, fun, and easy from start to finish. The only bad part was realizing we found this amazing family activity right before our son heads off to college this fall. We only wish we had discovered it sooner. This will absolutely be on our list for future family vacations. You really cannot put a price on an experience like this. It was worth every penny. Maui surfing was unforgettable! 🌊🏄‍♀️ All four of us—at very different levels of fitness and confidence—got up and surfed! Brian was incredibly patient with my nervous nerves, super encouraging with the kids, and somehow still managed to capture amazing photos of all of us actually riding waves. Such a fun experience for our whole family. The kids haven’t stopped smiling! And my little one is already scheduling another trip to Maui! We booked a small family lesson with Brian at Soul Surf with my husband and our two friends, all of us beginners. The day started a little iffy with the weather forecast not looking good but Brian moved us up a few hours to see if we could catch a break in the rain. Turned out to be the most magical and fun day we had in Maui. We surfed under a rainbow with breaching whales in the distance and sea turtles under our boards. Brian was patient but persistent helping each of us stand up and ride set after set. We all left that morning feeling like we had just experienced something meant to be and as Brian said, as good as it gets. A memory we will never forget. Yesterday, we went as a full family, my wife and I, our 8-year-old son and this was our 5-year-old daughter’s very first time surfing. From the start, Brian, Matt and Shaun made us feel completely comfortable. These guys are the real deal, super experienced, calm, patient and just genuinely great with kids. The setup couldn’t have been better. They gave our 5-year-old her own instructor and our 8-year-old his own instructor. That one-on-one attention made all the difference. The kids felt safe, focused and confident the whole time. My wife and I were able to enjoy ourselves knowing they were in great hands. And the best part? Everyone stood up and caught waves. Everyone!! The kids were absolutely fired up. Big smiles and pure excitement. Seeing our daughter surf for the first time is something I’ll never forget. Same with watching our son gain confidence with every wave. It felt safe, organized and just fun from start to finish. No stress, no chaos, just good vibes and great coaching. And the pictures? Unreal. Brian captured the whole experience perfectly. We’ve got memories now that we’ll keep forever. Signed my husband and our two boys up for a family private lesson with Brian, and they all had the best time. Learned to surf for the first time and now they are hooked. Our family surf lesson in Maui was the highlight of our trip! With two teenage kids, we were looking for something fun, active, and memorable — and this totally delivered. The instructors were amazing with teens: super encouraging, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience fun from start to finish. They got all three of us standing on waves within the first lesson, and we felt completely safe and supported the entire time. The family lesson option was perfect — it gave us time to learn together in a small group setting, and enjoy the beautiful Maui water together. If you're visiting Maui with teens, don’t miss this. So glad we chose Brian with Soul Surfing Maui for family surf lessons during our trip to Maui! After a quick lesson on the beach we were ready to hit the water. The 3 of us (beginners) were catching waves in no time! He captured the moments on camera too! I highly recommend Soul Surfing Maui!

My three kids spent two days in the water with Brian and had an absolute blast. Brian is a patient and skilled instructor who also loves what he does. I appreciate the laid back vibes of him and his team. At the same time they are very professional and frankly, very fairly priced compared to the competition. 10/10 would recommend.

Brian and Torrey both were excellent instructors. We are a family of 3 and were up surfing in the first 5mins after hitting the water. The land I friction was just long enough to be informative but not too long that it got overwhelming. We all had a great experience !

Our family of 4 did a lesson with Brian on a Sunday morning. We are two parents in their late forties and two teen boys ages 17 and 15. I did not think my husband or I would get up on the board but all four of us did surf at one time or another, the teens did much better than adults but we did ok too. Brian was patient and kind in his teaching and we really had fun. The hardest part was the paddling out - my arms!! - but the way he broke down getting from laying down to standing position, while on the water, riding a wave, made it pretty easy! And the setting was beautiful! I'd highly recommend Brian to anyone who goes to Maui, regardless of your age! Try something new and out of your comfort zone - it's worth it! I had read that some people got pics of their kids that Brian took so was hoping that we would as well but unfortunately did not. My husband went in a little early and took some from shore but we were so far out that it's hard to tell if it's even us, LOL. Overall though, really fun time! Do it!

My family, 3 kids ranging from 11-16 (both sons and daughter) and husband surfed with Brian. He provided thorough instruction, engaged the kids and made it an enjoyable first time surf experience. He was also very responsive in communication when I worked with him to schedule the lesson. Great for any future Maui surfers!
