Amazing 2 Person Semi-private Surf Lesson At Ukumehame Beach

My nine-year-old daughter and I had a semi-private lesson with Shaun and Kain. They were super helpful, super accommodating and we’re able to put us on some great waves. We had never surfed before and they made it effortless for us. Looking to bring my six-year-old son back for a lesson with them as well. I think we found a new family sport. We had such an amazing time. Thank you to Brian as well for all of the detail text messages on the specific location where our instruction would be held.

Positive experience all around. Easy and responsive booking. Clear instructions on where and how to meet. The coaches were friendly, outgoing, and experienced; showed effort in ensuring we had fun while also prioritizing safety. A great experience for my 16 year old daughter and 13 year old son. They had a great time pushing their limits of balance and coordination. They learned much and said their instructor taught well and was relatable. We had an amazing experience with Brian and his team in Maui! I originally signed up for two semi-private surf lessons with my 10-year-old over the course of our trip, and after seeing how much my son loved it, we added a third private lesson just for him. Three lessons over five days, and he would have happily done more! From the very first lesson, our son was hooked. He had so much fun, gained confidence, and apparently became the crew’s little “mascot,” which made the experience even more special. By the end of the trip, he had officially decided that every vacation from now on needs to be a surf vacation! Brian and his staff are truly top notch—professional, encouraging, patient, and incredibly fun to be around. They made our son feel comfortable while still challenging him and celebrating every bit of progress. And the photos were AMAZING! Having those incredible shots of him out in the water is something we’ll treasure for years. If you’re considering a surf lesson in Maui, look no further. We had an incredible experience surfing with Brian this summer! He coached me and my 10-year-old across multiple sessions, perfectly balancing high-level instruction with a fun, encouraging vibe. Brian is patient, observant, and gives pinpoint, real-time tips out in the water that accelerated our progression fast. He genuinely cared about our growth and celebrated every great wave with us. This experience with Soul Surfing Maui (Brian and Shaun specifically) will be a core memory for my husband and I. We were made feel like family from the moment we booked - getting a text from Brian almost immediately to let us know all the details and what to expect. When we arrived, we were comfortable and confident given Shaun’s expertise and knowledge! We paid for the photos (do NOT skip this, trust me!!) so Brian was already out in the water waiting for us. Shaun and Brian both gave such great feedback the whole lesson, truly wanting us to have the best experience. We caught several waves and felt super confident and accomplished by the end. This was the first time surfing experience for our kids(17 and12) and they both loved their lesson with Brian. He was patient and encouraging . When initially surfing conditions were not ideal, Brian still met with us and waited for the winds to abate. We had to reschedule but he worked with us on timings !

We booked our teenage sons for a semi private lesson with Brian and Sean during our family vacation and they had a blast!! They were so excited the first thing they said when they were done is “can we come back again tomorrow?!” Highly recommend! Biggest regret is not also purchasing pictures. They were way further out than I anticipated to take anything clear myself.

During our recent stay in Maui, we booked beginning surf lessons for our 11 and 17 year old daughters. Their instructor Brian was very professional, prompt, gave clear directions and patient instruction. Ukumehame beach was beautiful and the girls had an epic experience! Both were up, balanced and riding manageable waves, all within a first experience lesson! We could hardly belief how fast and well they took to it. We just returned from our family trip to Maui, and one of the things our girls wanted to do was a surfing lesson while their. We booked with Brian a semi private lesson, and the girls loved it. They where able to get up and ride the waves, and they came having no prior experience at all. Brian was good with them, and he took tones of pictures while out there with them so we would always have the memories to look back at.

This was our first experience with surfing, so honestly, we had low expectations. However, Brian, our instructor, went out of his way to make my two teenage girls feel comfortable, safe and confident! The beach was perfect for beginners and not crowded. We took the 10 am session, which I recommend either that slot, or the earlier slot, to ensure the best ocean conditions! Both girls were not only able to paddle and stand on their boards, but they both caught many great waves! Brian made the experience super enjoyable and provided us with many amazing mamories with the additional purchase of the photo package (highly recommend!). The beach was easy to access and the scenery was breathtaking (as usual for Maui!). We hope to return to Maui this Christmas and will definitely be booking with Brian again!

My family and I were extremely happy with our surfing experience with Brian. He’s a great coach and obviously loves the sport. He’s very knowledgeable and has lots of great tips. We booked with soul surfing Maui as the lessons are a more private experience as it was only the two of us and was decently priced compared to other companies. It gave us lots of 1 on 1 time with the instructor which was a great benefit, as well as having as much surf time as possible. It was super laid back and not rushed giving us time to enjoy the experience . We had lots of fun and learned some new skills!

Brian was able to accommodate a last minute booking when my boys decided to try surfing on our vacation. After a few minutes of instruction on land, he had my boys (ages 10 and 12) riding their first wave on their first try. Brian was relaxed, encouraging, and knowledgeable. We hope to find ourselves back in Maui for another lesson.
