HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Captain Doug and Eleni were amazing, very informative and created a feeling of being with family. We were able to stop at multiple locations and they kept us away from other tour groups. If you’re in Maui definitely have to book this tour.

The Captain and crew are safety conscious. Made sure we knew what do and what we were doing. A perfect amount of little snacks made the trip about the snorkeling- I appreciated that. One piece of feedback- if you say the boat will not wait for late comers- mean it. We waited and it cut into our time alone at the crater. This is especially true since we came back to the dock to drop off people who came for the first part only and the late people could be picked up at that time. It’s not right to keep the on time people waiting and then missing time because of the late people. May seem harsh but if you say something in the instructions, mean it.

Great experience with very friendly staff and refreshments. We saw nearly 10 species of fish near Molokini Crater, and 5 sea turtles at Makena! We really enjoyed this snorkeling tour.

We chose the same tour as in July 2025. This time the conditions were not ideal, but they made the trip fun and memorable. Next time we are in Maui we will book this trip again!

All in all a great experience. Eleni and Jen are awesome guides. Very professional and they make the day fun. An added bonus is that they take pictures and email them to you afterwards. Totally complementary which is a refreshing change as most other places try to upsell you with photos. My kids aged 16 and 15 really enjoyed our day as did I and I would recommend to anyone. Well worth the drive from our hotel in Kapalua, even at such an early hour of the morning.

I want to be fair and begin by saying that I had two excellent trips with Maui Snorkel Charters last year. We saw an incredible variety of fish, octopuses, reef sharks, beautiful coral, huge schools of fish behind Molokini, and many turtles near Turtle Town. Those experiences were exactly why my partner and I confidently booked with them again and brought our parents during this year’s family trip. Unfortunately, this trip was completely different. Because Storm Lala had affected ocean conditions around Maui, I called in advance specifically to ask whether we should reschedule. I was told that conditions should not be a significant problem. I asked again before boarding on the morning of the trip and was once more reassured that we should proceed. Once we arrived at Molokini, however, we were limited to a small area on the eastern side. Visibility was very poor, marine life was extremely limited, and our snorkeling time was shortened. The planned second stop behind Molokini was canceled entirely. We then spent additional time returning to the harbor to drop off and pick up passengers before heading toward Turtle Town. Conditions there were also very rough, with strong waves and poor visibility. We saw only one turtle, and I observed several guests being pushed onto the reef and getting injured. The remaining planned snorkeling stops were also canceled. I completely understand that no tour operator can control the weather, ocean conditions, or wildlife. I also support a captain’s decision to cancel stops when conditions are unsafe. My concern is that the company already knew about the conditions, yet still advised us twice—including immediately before boarding—that there was no significant problem and that we should proceed instead of rescheduling. Most of the expected snorkeling experience was canceled, much of the trip was spent traveling on the boat, and the alternate location was neither particularly safe nor rewarding. Had we been given an honest assessment of the conditions, we would have gladly rescheduled. My parents were extremely disappointed, especially after hearing about my wonderful experiences from the previous year. As someone who loves snorkeling and has snorkeled in many places, this was unfortunately the poorest snorkeling experience I have had. Based on my two previous trips, I believe this may have been an unusual situation caused by the storm rather than the company’s normal standard. However, the way the conditions and our requests to reschedule were handled was deeply disappointing. I have contacted Maui Snorkel Charters to request a full refund and the company declined my refund request. I understand that weather, wildlife, and individual snorkel sites cannot be guaranteed, so my rating is not based simply on seeing fewer animals. It is based on being advised twice to proceed when I specifically asked about rescheduling, followed by a materially reduced snorkeling experience and conditions that raised genuine safety concerns. I contacted the company privately to share these concerns and hope it improves how it communicates go/no-go and rescheduling decisions in situations like this.

Captain Jen and Sofia were excellent today! They were thorough, friendly and knew exactly what they were doing. We had a great time and definietly recommend this team!

For my Maui trip, I had booked two snorkel tours with two different companies. My experience with the first tour was honestly not that great (though it was due to my inexperience in water, and not the company’s fault). Because of that, I really hesitated about going on the second tour - but I am so glad I did! The 5-hour tour with Maui Snorkel Charters was incredible! It was organized so efficiently by two wonderful women, Captain Jen and Sophia. While the four stops that we made were all magical, the visit to Turtle Town was my favorite by far. Being able to see the majestic turtles swim by was breathtaking and something that I will never forget. And what Maui Snorkel Charters does that is truly above and beyond is that they took photos of our adventures and shares them with us at no extra charge. As the photographer, Sophia truly captured amazing images of us while we were underwater with the fish and turtles (something that we probably could not have done as well ourselves, even if we had rented a GoPro). I’ve fallen in love with snorkeling and highly recommend Maui Snorkel Charters to anyone and everyone.

Wow! We had an amazing time. 4 different snorkeling locations and we saw so many turtles. We were the second boat at the crater and it was incredible. Capt Jen and Sofia were AMAZING! They knew all the snorkeling spots and Sofia swam with the group taking pictures of everyone. They gave snacks, coffee, and very good banana bread! 11/10 experience!

We had a great time snorkeling with Captains Eleni and Sofía! Saw so many different beautiful kinds of fish, and lots of sea turtles. They were so helpful and friendly, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them and highly recommend this tour!

Let’s hear it for strong women, Captains Jen and Eleni! Started the morning with banana bread and coffee and it only got better. We were guided to 4 different snorkel sites, each offering a unique view underwater. Nothing felt rushed and they took time to help newbies and support the few whose sea legs didn’t quite stand strong enough for the morning. I highly recommend this 5-hour tour—you won’t regret the early morning wake-up, and If you’re in Kihei, you can walk to the departure dock. They uploaded pictures super quickly (less than 90 minutes after the tour) and the photos along with onboard snacks (you will be hungry after the first couple snorkel excursions) were included in the price. Give them all the 5-star ratings!

Great experience and crew was awesome

I loved, loved, loved this snorkeling trip! First off, this tour left at 6:30 am for the short ride to be one of the first boats to Molokini Crater. There were only around 18 people aboard which made for a very personal feel. The crew, Captain Jenn, Captain Alene (sp?), and Sofia were outstanding as they prepared everyone from experienced snorkelers to novices as to what to expect and how to best enjoy the experience. Our family ranged in age from 11 to 70 and we all felt like we were in good hands with this crew. The clear water in the crater was fantastic and we saw an abundance of sea life there. Since it was such a calm morning, we also got to snorkel on the outside of the crater, which was a real treat. After that, the other snorkelers on board were returned to the boat ramp and we had the whole boat to ourselves as we headed to Turtle Town. Swimming with the sea turtles was a unique experience and we spent quite a bit of time there getting some fantastic pictures (which were uploaded for free as part of the tour!) We had some time left so we were given the opportunity to snorkel in a third location before heading back in. The captains were a wealth of knowledge about the history of the area, places we snorkeled as well as the best places in Kihei to eat. This was my second favorite thing we did in Hawaii. (It would have been impossible to top seeing Kilauea erupt!) Book this trip---you will not be disappointed!

This is our favorite family activity on Maui. We go back again and again! This trip was special because we had Captain Jen who went the extra mile to make the trip fabulous. She's a wealth of ocean knowledge and her love of the Maui waters is contagious. Thank you for another wonderful day of snorkeling. We will be back!!

The captain and her shipmate, Sophie, were amazing! They explained everything well and provided all the tips and tricks of what to do and what not to do. We even got to go snorkel at the back of the Molokini crater where no other charters can go, because they can’t anchor down. They were great in identifying fish and provided a chart to assist, a history of the island(s), and recs on places to eat. They were super personable and great with the kids and adults alike! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our families first ever snorkeling adventure.

Captain Jen and Sophia were amazing! We felt super safe the entire time. I didn’t realize that this tour could be booked in sections, but I am so glad this is what we booked! Being able to snorkel the back of the crater is super rare, and turtle town was our absolute favorite. Not to mention, we saw a pod of dozens of dolphins and Jen stopped the boat so that we could watch them. They took lots of photos too and shared after the tour. Highly recommend! ❤️

We had a wonderful trip and visited several of the local snorkeling places. There were lots of beautiful fish, and Turtle Town more than lived up to its name. Eleni and Jen did an amazing job, and when one of our party got sick they were extremely kind and helpful. The icing on the cake was the beautiful photos they took while we were snorkeling. I’ve never had a company do that before. It’s a wonderful and unique reminder of our time.

We were a group of eight, and we went out with captain Jen and Elani - we had the absolute best day! Highly recommend this excursion - crew was exceptional - snacks, coffee cold drinks - they took us to the best spots - great photographers I cannot rave enough about this excursion!

Such a fantastic trip! We truly enjoyed every moment spent on the boat. One of the biggest highlights was the early departure - we left before all the other excursions, so we had the snorkeling spots almost entirely to ourselves. Thanks to the great weather conditions, we were able to visit all four snorkeling locations and see so many amazing marine creatures. The crew was incredibly friendly, fun, and knowledgeable, creating a great atmosphere throughout the trip. As a bonus, the captain even spotted a whale! Highly recommended experience.

Incredible snorkeling experience. 10/10, will go out with them again in future. This is different than your typical large party snorkeling excursion grouped in like sardines and given 30 minutes to snorkel. On this trip we were the first out to the crater. We snorkeled five different locations including the wall and backside of molokini larger boats can’t get to. Captain and mate were great. We were in the water with large schools of fish. We were lucky to hear vocalizations from humpback whales and had bottle nose dolphin sightings and saw a lot of sea turtles.

This was a great experience overall. We had about 15 people on our excursion and the crew did a great job making sure everyone had what they needed. The weather was iffy. The water was cold with no sun, but visability was still amazing at the crater. I am glad we did it.

We had a fabulous turtle tour with captain Jen and Eleni. We were b even fortunate enough to see a cow and calf humpback whale, Mom whale breached and then calf tried with much less height. Eleni got some fabulous photos and videos that she shared with us. Snorkeling with the turtles was extraordinary. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat. Just make sure to bring your beach towel to dry off.

My husband and I had a great time on this excursion. Captain Jen and Elani were bright and friendly and informative. Capt. Jen's jokes were corny but fun. We particularly enjoyed snorkeling on the outer side of Molokini and "Turtle Town". Elani was in the the water with us the whole time and taking pictures. The pictures were up within about 24 hours and are great mementos of the trip. The fact that they take the pictures was one of the factors in deciding on the company. Plus the small group size (I think there were 16 of us) and speed of the boat. We also saw whales which Capt. Jen was happy to stop for us to watch. An unexpected sight was flying fish! Two slight drawbacks: 1) the website says there is a bathroom on board but when we arrived we were told there really isn't, and 2) it was sometimes hard for us to hear Capt. Jen because we were at the very front of the boat so some sort of amplification would be helpful. Overall, I would happily go out with them again and encourage others to do so.

Absolutely amazing! You all were so good with my daughter who can be very worried. Your crew were patient, compassionate and loving. That alone melted my heart but then add to it all the wonderful conversation, views, beautiful snorkeling and knowledge.... it was a once on a lifetime experience and we thank you!!

Excellent tour! Captain Jen and Captain Doug were knowledgeable, safety oriented and still fun. Being able to snorkel 4 times at 4 different locations during the 5 hour trip allowed you to see a variety of coral, fish and sea turtles. Saw several whales and a bonus seal during the trip. Appreciated the coffee, snacks, banana bread and over 100 photos that were included in the price.

We did the 5-hr, and IMO it was the best of the “tours” we took part in throughout our trip to Oahu and Maui. Captain Jen was great as was her first mate. The 5-hr is combined w a 2.5 hr Molokini only followed by a trip back to the boat ramp to swap with those on the follow-on Turtle Town portion. It provided an op for a bio break - use it. 😂 There is plenty of time but the facilities on the ramp were rough, not real clean. Snorkeling is lengthy and as scenic as you would imagine. But the real surprise for everyone onboard was the whale watching we were able to take part in while navigating out, back and in between sites. Pretty great. But the boat was new or seemed so, very comfortable, and we were provided the snorkeling gear, fins, and a flotation device, if desired. I think we had eight couples on the trip and never felt cramped or unattended to. Overall - 5 stars

Captains Jen and Doug were a perfect pair. Doug was running the boat and Jen was running the dives. Doug was calm, relaxed and friendly. Jen was high energy, enthusiastic, and helpful. The boat ran easily and comfortably to the multiple sites we visited and the thoughtfully designed ladders made getting back into the boat a breeze. The trip was fantastic! We visited multiple sites and got to experience different environments around Maui. Getting to visit multiple sites made it feel more like a snorkel tour than a trip. If you want to experience snorkeling in Maui, I highly recommend Maui Snorkel Charters. My daughter wants me to add that the banana bread is amazing too!

Fun crew lots of action dolphins, whales, turtles and plenty of fish. Great banana bread and knowledgeable crew. Several stops to snorkel. We were the only boat at Monokini before sunrise:)

Captain Doug and Trish are experienced leaders for snorkeling and giving suggestions for many adventures. Treated like family. This is our second trip with Maui Snorkel Charters and look forward to more opportunities to visit again.

The trip started very early but got to the crater before everyone else arrived and basically had it to ourselves for a good amount of time before it got busy. Was able to snorkel the back wall as well which is a unique experience you won’t get from the big boats. Had a whale do a full breach jump literally feet away from the boat which was amazing. Crew was great and all the photos were included in the experience instead of an extra charge at the end which you just don’t get anywhere else. Would gladly use them again.

I have reviewed Maui Snorkel Charters before. They were excellent then; and they're excellent now. We were with Captains Doug and Jen -- both generous with their knowledge and time. We've used other snorkel/Molokini/watch tours before, but we will never again. Why mess with perfection. Thanks Doug and Jen for an excellent, most enjoyable and entertaining 5 hours.

Keep in mind that if you book your visit during Dec like we did, the sky will be mostly cloudy and the water/corals will not look as vibrant. Remember to take some Dramamine (seasick medication) before the trip. Because of rougher seas, we had some people tapping out before the trip ends. With that being said, we had an amazing time snorkeling at Molokini and Turtle Town. Our highlight was seeing whales, turtles and a sleeping monk seal! Also, the banana bread is a must try 10/10 Capt. Jen and J.P are two amazing ladies who are quick, professional, knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. They made us feel safe and tended to during our entire trip. If given a chance, we would love to visit and book from Maui Snorkeling Charters again 🪸🐠🤿

We had a Great time with our Captains Jen and Doug. Both my wife and I are born and raised on Kauai, so we're greatly accustomed to the beauty of Hawai'i, but the snorkeling at Molokini crater is special. It's a level of beauty that's getting harder and harder to come by. The pristine water and healthy reefs are a magical experience. The knowledge that is shared is very appealing to my wife and I, and you can feel the love and appreciation for the area that our boat captains have. The experience is well worth the price. We stuck with the 2 hour snorkeling adventure because we had plans for the rest of the day, but we hope to come back and enjoy the longer experience next time we island hop. And shout out to Jen for snagging that pool noodle that was floating out to sea. Going above and beyond to keep our oceans clean.

Best snorkel trip on Maui. 5 locations!! Inside and outside Molokini. Saw at least 10 Turtles at the TurtleTown stop! Crew was great. Friendly and informative. We spotted a pod of Dolphins on the way back in and the captain zipped over to give a great look! What a great treat and trip. Highly recommend this tour!! We are scuba divers, so we know a good trip!

This is the best snorkeling experience we have ever had! We have been on several trips in the Caribbean and they do not hold a candle to this trip. The captain and crew were outstanding. Friendly and energetic! We went to 5 different stops on the excursion. The first was in Molokini crater and then on the backside of the crater in 300 feet of water. We got to see tons of reef fish. We then went to 3 spots to see sea turtles. I have never been so close to green sea turtles. We then saw a rare monk seal sunning itself on the South side of Maui. The captain and crew were great at instructing us on how to properly use the equipment and made the experience go smoothly. Plenty of coffee, water, banana bread & snacks!

This was an absolutely amazing snorkel cruise. They delivered everything they promised. Turtle town was amazing. We swam with so many sea turtles we were blown away. The other snorkel locations did not disappoint. Coral reefs were beautiful and the variety of fish was amazing. The crew is fantastic and so accommodating! Jen took tons of underwater pictures which they share on a complimentary basis. This is a huge perk. A banana bread and coffee was an added bonus and was delicious. This snorkel cruise was worth every penny and we highly recommend it
