Amazing dive. The people are great! Brian, Jessi, and Joe were fantastic. I also did x2 shore dive with Matt. I have never seen so many turtles in one spot in all my life! I’ve been diving for 20+ years and this team/dive shop is awesome. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

My husband and I had a great trip to the Lanai cathedrals with Dive Maui during our honeymoon a few weeks ago! Brian, Joe, and Jessi were a great crew and were very attentive and helpful with everything. Brian was the DM for our group and he did a great job leading the dive. As a marine biologist myself, I especially appreciate having the time on a dive to look at all the small critters without feeling rushed, and he balanced that well with showing us around the dive site and pointing out wildlife. We will definitely dive with them again any time we come back to Maui!

Earlier this week, October 20, 2026, my youngest daughter and I dived with Dive Maui on the boat Hoku with Joe as Captain and Joey and Brian the divemasters. We went to Sergeant Major dive site and 1st Cathedrals both off of Lanai. I had dived with both CPT Joe and Brian before and they along with their newest member of the team, Joey run a champagne first class dive experience. I had dived both sites previously both with Dive Maui and also another Lāhainā based dive company, based on frequency of repeat business I must really like diving with Dive Maui, and have to say every trip with Dive Maui has been terrific. I also appreciate the interactions I have had with Nic the owner. Google only allows me to write one review per business, but it has been five years since the last review and I don’t think that is fair. Dive Maui was five stars then, and they continue to excel today. Older Review: I went on a two-tank dive with Dive Maui on Oct 13, 2021, titled Cathedrals off Lana’i. The captain was Chantal, and the dive masters were Chelsea and Scott. The entire team was great, slightly larger group then my preference, I think we had 11 divers, I ended up with Scott and 4 other divers. We were well matched, and Scott was both a terrific instructor surrounding the dive sites and the marine life we may and did encounter. He also made both dives extremely enjoyable. Our first dive was at Wash Rock/Tunnel of Love, and our second dive was at First Cathedrals. We had nice lava tunnel swim-thrus (they were cavernous) and saw too many fish species to list; however, for me the pair of Frog Fish together (perhaps a mated pair) was a highlight, yellow margin moray eels, and white mouth eels too. I had a great time, and highly recommend Dive Maui; their equipment is top notch, they are fun, nice, and practice all the leading safety practices you would expect from consummate professionals.

Very fun dive location and crew. Crew were very nice and easy going, while maintaining professionalism. The dives were very enjoyable with formations/animals you don’t often see. The actual cathedral stop was my favorite.

If you are a new or seasoned scuba diver, you will enjoy this trip as it gives you the opportunity to see visuals you won't experience elsewhere at 100 ft+ visibility. This tour rocked!

I'm a return customer. The diving was excellent with great visibility. As it's Hawai'i , limited corals and reefs here but very good critters to see, octopus , slipper lobsters, lots of eels including a vampire eel, tropicals. The tunnels through the caves are fun to swim through. rent or bring a LIGHT! Great crew who worked real hard to make it a great trip. Brian was a great guide !

Our guide, Brian, was great. He was super friendly and really knowledgeable about the 2 dives. He briefed us on what we may see and experience in the area, and he made an effort to seek out and show us marine life that we were interested in. Joe was a fabulous captain! He really helped me when I had to prematurely surface on my second dive. I was very appreciative of his kindness and help. Top tier dive crew overall! I’d highly recommend this dive shop.

5-Star Experience, Happy to support a recovering Lahaina small business with this epic dive! Briefly:This shop is fully equipped and in a very good location for all your Maui dives (shore or boat). They have all the gear you need and have a solid staff that will get you having a great time in the water. It is great to see a Lahaina business getting back into full swing. In More Detail: The shop is conveniently located for meeting up to check in and get gear, if renting. We were doing a boat dive, 2 tanks to Cathedrals. Dive brief was thorough, but not boring. Very convenient location in relation to boarding the boat and everything was well-organized for the trip out to Cathedrals. The Boat operator, Joe, was great. Our dive guide, Brian was highly informative and a lot of fun to dive with. He was very good about pointing out the more rare fish and invertebrates, as well as eels and a very beautiful octopus. Jessi was the guide for the other side of the boat, and she was also doing a great job from what we could see. Would dive again with this operation. Kudos to Brian for having such an in depth knowledge of the local fish and the pronunciation of them all.

Wow. What an awesome day of scuba diving with the Dive Maui crew. Joe, Brian, and Jessie were amazing. Jessie was my dive instructor and she was great. Great boat ride. A Giant moray eel (8-10 feet long) swam right underneath us. Cathedrals were so fun to explore. Highly recommend this trip!

Today was my first dive with Dive Maui. I chose dive Maui because their ratio is 7 students to one instructor while most places are 10 students per instructor. Joseph the ship captain was great and explained the dive plan, pointed out safety features and warned us about Possible rough Waters, which there were. I have to give an extra shout out to Chris - my diving instructor. He was very patient with me, especially during the first dive when I had a hard time going deeper. Then After I exited the water for the first time I got sick. He offered me Ginger Chews which really helped. I also told them that I wasn’t going to do the second Dive because I didn’t feel well. He said “Julia trust me. You’ll feel better after you get back in the water and I don’t want you to miss all the cool stuff on the second dive.” He was right! I definitely felt better on the second die and did see a lot of cool stuff. I got sick again on the second die, but the ginger chews helped me again. If you’re in Maui, I would highly recommend going to Dive Maui. They’re professional, Patient and incredibly kind. Thank you!!! You are THE BEST!!!🤿

Fantastic dive in Lanai Cathedrals with bonus spinner dolphin sighting from the boat! Staff was great, terrific time.

Amazing experience, a must do if you’re a scuba diver in Maui. The Cathedrals were breathtaking, both very different in beauty and wildlife encountered. The boat is a nice boat, small dive group sizes, and the crew takes care of you and everything on your trip! All you have to do is put on your pack and go enjoy! Divers of all experience levels went and they were able to cater to us all, and come up when it was the right time for you and your capabilities. The Viz was unreal, 100+ and it wasn’t so deep you ran out of air quick. Make sure to bring a camera for in and out of water. We also had dolphins come within arms distance of our boat and we got to stop and watch the show. Never felt rushed or hearded like cattle. This is truly a class act and I’ll be booking again when I’m back!

The experience was excellent with a highly professional crew, including the captains and two dive masters. Brian was my dive master; he was outstanding and explained everything clearly, found cool wide life including eels, octopuses, lobsters…. The lava tubes provided an impressive experience. As a pro tip, take your time entering the tubes and exploring.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Our guide for the day was Sean. He was Awesome! He is very attentive to the group and keeps a watchful eye on everyone. Was literally the most attentive guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of diving with. The cathedral dive is a very cool experience, pay close attention and listen to Sean’s pre dive instructions!

Great dive experience today with Sean and the rest of the crew. First, the crew took care of everything. The BCD’s and regulators were already hooked up to our tanks and waiting for us. My son and I wore shortie wetsuits but the water was really comfortable and we wouldn’t have needed them. Visibility for both dives was great, and our guide Sean was very helpful. Not a ton of marine life compared to other locations (although we did see a big sea turtle, and eel, and several colorful fish) but the highlight was the views within the cathedral dive. Pretty unique and definitely worth it. We’d highly recommend the two cathedral dive trip and spin it with Dive Maui.

Wash Rock & 1st cathedral off Lanai on 7/29 - good weather, good viz (60-70’), good sea life variety, great geography! Professional, friendly and relaxed dive team. Abbi was a great dive master - friendly, informative, while also staying on task and keeping everyone safe. A solid outfit. Will dive with them again in the future.

Such an incredible dive - the 1st Cathedral is one of my favorite dives. Captain Zach and instructors Sean and Abbi were kind, patient, and helpful, making sure we were safe throughout both dives and assisting with the "shotgun" exit from the 1st Cathedral. Reasonable price and great value, appropriate length for each dive, 8 divers per instructor.

We were looked after by Dive guides Abbi & Shaun. Both professional, friendly, approachable and made the diving seemless. Thank you We did 2 dives both great, plenty of fish life, the coral seems to of been damaged / not that much but the overall life plenty to see and colourful fish. Interesting structures to swim around on first dive and cathedral itself is something cool to see - they split up the groups so there are not 14 people in the cathedral which seeing the size of it is a must as it would be very crowded - the shotgun exit is also something different that not many divers would of experienced before. As for value for money it’s hard to get value out of a $320 dive with no lunch. In an industry where crew don’t often get paid much that money has to be going somewhere? very expensive. If you’re coming to Maui and you have the money it’s worth doing once.

Abbi, our dive master, was wonderful and very knowledgeable! The Cathedral was beautiful! The ‘shotgun’ exit out was hit or miss with the swell force, but my daughter got the full opposite force, lost her grip and flew the wrong way backwards making it very memorable. You could tell from the shear amount of bubbles she was laughing. Abbi was awesome helping us all, exceptionally when assisting my daughter back from the other side of the cavern from being ‘yeeted’ by the swell as my daughter describes it now:-). Very memorable and fun trip. Only warning: no bathrooms on the boat. Still absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

Bring lotions for sun and dramamine if you are prone to motion sickness they supplied great gear and snacks 👍

Our two tank dive to Lanai was excellent! Our first dive was fun seeing an eel and going through a beautiful swim through. For our second dive we went to Cathedral One where we saw a white tipped reef shark and the cathedral had a beautiful ray of sunlight in the middle shining down onto a rock. The back wall of the cathedral looked like cutouts or a stained glass window/spiders web. Abby was our instructor and she was amazing! When she heard that I get cold often on dives she literally gave me the vest she was wearing. Joe our boat captain took great care of us driving and tending to our gear. The other groups instructor Sean also took great care of his group. The three worker together seamlessly, we felt very comfortable and confident in their capable hands. Thanks!!

Dive Maui was incredible! The entire staff was fantastic. Matt and Abbi were both awesome, and Abbi was an outstanding guide through the Cathedrals. She was patient, fun, knowledgeable, and had such a positive attitude that made the experience even better. I can't wait to dive with them again!

Very professional, knowledgeable, well managed, dive charter. Such a cool spot to dive, great wildlife. Octopus, eels, great abundance & diverse reef fish. If you struggle with sea sickness on the open ocean, or are inexperienced with it, probably best to take some Dramamine or something similar before.

I booked this trip specifically because the Lanai Cathedrals page describes both First Cathedral and Second Cathedral in detail, which reasonably led me to expect dives at both sites. In reality, our group only visited one Cathedral site. The first dive was at a different Lanai location that was not one of the Cathedrals. After the trip, Dive Maui explained that they do not normally conduct dives at both Cathedral sites on the same day and that site selection depends on conditions and the divers onboard. I fully respect the importance of safety and found the crew professional and friendly throughout the trip. My disappointment is with the expectation created by the trip description. Had I known in advance that visiting both Cathedrals was not normally part of the itinerary, I would likely have chosen a different operator. Future divers whose main goal is to see both First Cathedral and Second Cathedral should clarify the expected itinerary before booking and compare the options offered by different Maui dive operators.

Our family of four (including two teenage daughters, ages 13 and 18) had an outstanding experience with Dive Maui, and we’d happily dive with them again. Captain Marina set the tone for the day from the moment we stepped on the boat. Her positive energy was absolutely contagious. Whether she was helping divers get organized, sharing local knowledge, or simply keeping everyone smiling, she made the trip feel welcoming, relaxed, and fun. Underwater, Brian was our dive guide, and he was exceptional. His pre-dive briefing was clear, informative, and engaging, including details about the marine life we might encounter. As we prepared to enter the water, I found myself wondering how one guide could effectively manage seven divers with obviously different experience levels. Somehow, Brian made it look easy. He struck the perfect balance between allowing each diver to “dive their own dive” while still keeping the group together and safe. Newer divers received support when needed, more experienced divers had room to enjoy the dive, and everyone benefited from Brian’s sharp eyes for marine life. He consistently pointed out creatures and features we would have easily missed on our own. The result was a dive that felt safe, professional, educational, and fun all at the same time—a combination that’s harder to achieve than it looks. If you’re looking for a Maui dive operation that combines excellent customer service, knowledgeable staff, and a genuinely enjoyable atmosphere, Dive Maui is a fantastic choice. Top dive shop in Lahaina. This shop is currently the only shop offering boat dive in Lahaina since the 2023 fire. We met in their small parking lot for pre dive checks. They were efficient n their preparation which I like. They assigned a chair for all the guests to keep track each person’s needs. In addition to the dive, I rented a fin, shorty wet suit, a dive light and GoPro. They had everything placed on the chair and gave me tutorial on using the GoPro. Once everyone checked in and tried on the rented gears, we were escorted to the dock where the pontoon boats were. We boarded the boat and Captain Marina, Jeff and Sean our two dive masters went over safety instructions, important safety instructions, dive signals and met with us individually to discuss weights. Vash 1 and Cathedral 1 were the 2 dives off of Lanai. We saw moral eels, a spotted ray, beautiful fishes and swam through beautiful coral/lava caves. Jeff was my dive masters. He was great spotting various marine interests for us and maintaining a watchful eye of the group checking our air pressure and asking if we are ok. The trip concluded with an unexpected sighting of a school of spinner dolphins. Captain Marina slow the boat and gave us a chance to enjoy the animated dolphins. It was a wonderful ending to a fabulous day. Thank you the crew of Dive Maui it was a memorable experience.

This is a GREAT dive company! Been all over the world and dove with the best. These guys are AWESOME! Brian, Sean, the Captains and crews were so much fun we didn’t want to go home. We started with two dives and ended up doing eight🤪🤪🤪🤪. Was starting to feel like we lived there! AND YOU HAVE TO DO THE SHARK AND TURTLE DIVE!!!! It is the most underpromised and over delivered dive in the history of man kind!!!! Have fun and dive safe!!!

We dove Wash Rock and Cathedrals 1 and had a wonderful experience. Our dive master, Dave, and the rest of the crew took great care of us. Dave was especially helpful when one of our group was experiencing some anxiety at the beginning of our first dive and he was able to help her work through it and successfully complete her dives. Would highly recommend this dive shop and will definitely book with them again on my next trip to Maui.

I was gifted a dive for my birthday and so very glad I came across Dive Maui in my searching. We did the Lanai Cathedrals and it was amazing. I had Chris as my group’s dive master. Caitlin was the other half of the group. Both were wonderful as was the captain. I’m a pretty inexperienced diver still and was really worried but that didn’t last long at all. They did great making me feel comfortable and helping me with any questions or concerns I had and it let me be able to be present and fully enjoy my time and enjoy the experience. Absolutely recommend. I looked up lots of reviews prior about air consumption because that was a main worry of mine- I didn’t want to be a reason the whole group had to surface. So for anyone else with that worry, don’t! They’re great at checking your air quantity throughout the dive and once you hit about 700, they’ll direct you to the boat, you’ll do your safety stop and then head up but the others with air left can still stay down and enjoy their time without being dragged up too 👍🏻 personally, I have no negative notes. If you’re on the fence of doing it, go for it!

The entire team at Dive Maui was fantastic! Very friendly, inclusive, attentive, and caring. There was an individual in the group with anxiety and limited experience, and Shawn (Sean?) was so supportive and went above and beyond in making sure they were not only okay and comfortable, but reassured and heard. Really amazing charter. Very accommodating group and make you feel welcomed and like you’ve been diving with them for ages, even though it’s your first time diving with them. Also, on the way back to Lahaina, we happened across a big pod of dolphins and our wonderful captain stopped to let us all get a close look/photos, while educating us on what the dolphins were doing and the dolphins, themselves. I will most definitely be back! Oh, not the least of which… The First Cathedral was a dive I will never forget!

Great dives and a fun experience. Abbi was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and helpful. Sean and Capt marina were also very professional. I wouldn't recommend getting the sandwich, because I was mostly too sea sick when we stopped to eat it, and there isn't a whole lot of time to eat it, but the dives were great and the staff was very professional.

Nice two tank dive through the cathedrals off Lanai. Good fun swim through. Cool black coral and shells in side the cave. Caitlin was tremendous and insured we had a safe and very enjoyable trip. Saw lots of dolphins on the way home. My hats off to the seasick troopers on our boat
