The Kapalua Villas Maui

Our 9-night family vacation to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary was completely destroyed by a severe, hazardous insect infestation at The Kapalua Villas Maui. If you are traveling with young children, do not risk staying here. Upon entering our first unit at the Kapalua Golf Villas, we immediately discovered a dead cockroach under the table and reported it to a housekeeper who confirmed the pest presence. Shortly after, live cockroaches began actively crawling out of the kitchen sink and out of the dishwasher. Because the front office was closed for the night, our family of five spent our first night in fear. We lost the first 2 full days of our vacation entirely to the immense stress and logistics of packing up and moving units. The second unit they moved us to at the Kapalua Ridge was no better; it presented constant cockroach encounters and relentless fly swarms. Pests were actively everywhere; we couldn't eat a single meal without swatting flies, and a cockroach even crawled onto our young son's back while he was in bed. Because of these unsanitary conditions, our son became violently ill on-site with a high fever, vomiting, and dehydration, ruining multiple subsequent days of our trip. We felt completely trapped because booking five last-minute airline flights back to California was financially prohibitive. The trauma even followed us home, requiring days of exhausting post-trip labor to deep-clean and inspect all of our belongings to ensure we didn't bring pests into our personal residence. Management’s response has been completely unacceptable. Their customer service team has subjected us to weeks of administrative silence after breaching basic habitability and making our child sick. We are currently pursuing this through the California Attorney General's Office and the BBB for a full refund; with additional escalation paths in progress. Save your money, your sanity, and your family's health—stay somewhere else.

Roaches are seen through out the home. Primary in the kitchen, in the outlets, on the floor, couches, on the walls. We have to sleep with the lights on because that reduces the chances of the bugs coming out. It’s disturbing our sleep. Our bed shows droppings of some sort of pest. We’re closing our luggages after every time we need to change or get something out. This is a 4-star resort that isn’t giving what we expected. We read the reviews and this seems to have been an ongoing issue since many years ago. According to reviews, We also don’t want an exterminator to come and spray our place cause we’ll have to breathe in all the chemicals… we ended up wiping the counters, floor, and chairs down as they have a sticky feel to them. We should not have to feel like this for a 4-star resort. Very disappointed and will never be coming back. *Update: We wrote them a very heartfelt and honest email and they were very kind to move us to a better and safer villa with an amazing ocean front view. Very grateful for this but we shouldn’t even have to be doing this.

Only good things about this was the location. Check in was problematic which took us 2 hr as the reservation didn’t had correct phone or address to check in. We had intruders just opening the door without knocking and excuse was we didn’t see your car parked which was unsettling.

Not a 4 Star accommodations, Villas are extremely dated. I stayed there this past week AC did not work and a ball of hair in the tub house keeping do the bare minimum at this villas. We were moved to another villa with working AC but the villa was not clean as expected. They left coffee grounds in the coffee maker with mold in it. Stove was dirty, pans are old and scratched. Tubs are not scrubbed down like they should. Villas are in a very secluded and safe place.
