Took family here for the summer and it’s simply the nicest resort in Maui if not Hawaii itself. Property is absolute perfection. Service is already much better than when Montage was in but could use some work. Wait times for drinks and lack of towels at the pool are some of the service quirks that need to be worked out. Management is weeding out under performing staff overtime so by time this is St. Regis properly I have no doubt this will be prime ultra luxury Hawaii.

I took a solo trip here early March 2026 for my 40th birthday - right before the Montage transitioned over to the Marriott. The purpose of my trip was to have a few days of ease and to have nothing on the schedule. Did I experience ease - Absolutely and memories I'll hold close. I'll try to keep my review with the perspective of there being transition after my stay. Early morning walks down to the empty beach and friendly hikers on the nearby coastal trail made mornings slow and intentional! It can really set a great tone for the rest of your day - take binoculars for possible marine sightings. The Canoe restaurant on site for breakfast was easy, and delicious with great service. Try the local papaya if it's still on the menu. I spent most of my days at the beach club pool - it was never crowded and the servers were friendly - try the wings if they are still on the menu!!! I still think about them! While the resort was overall quiet, I would suggest asking for a top level room if your goal is to rest throughout the day. I did hear the movements of those above me to the point I thought they were renovating the unit. The location is stunning - don't be surprised if you suddenly want to toss all your plans out the window and just hang! But if you do want to explore, check to see if they still have their partnership with Cadillac - it was first come - first serve. I had an amazing time here - but I think I'd try another 5 star resort before coming back to the Montage (well now the Marriott) just for a different pace. Oh also, check out the fitness center and infinity pool. That's another pool to tuck away to that wasn't crowded either! During my stay, I did have a daily drink and food credit of $200 - which was also an incentive to stay around the resort for meals. You can walk to nearby restaurants. Merriman's was great, but I passed on some of the others to spend my credit at the resort. I didn't feel out of place at all as a solo traveler here, or in Maui in general. I felt safe walking the premises at night and catching a rideshare to/from the airport was with minimal wait time. Hope this helps! The Ritz isn't far if you want a 5 star experience in the area and want to give this property a little time to settle into the transition!
My wife and I stayed at the resort from 4/30/26 to 5/6/26. We had a fantastic visit. We booked our trip prior to the management change from Montage to Marriott. They gave us notice of the change about a month before our trip and we decided to go through with it. I’m glad we did! We read some negative reviews from guests who were there early in the transition which concerned us, but we figured things would get straightened out. There is no doubt the resort is running smoothly now. Service was impeccable - the staff extremely professional, attentive and friendly. We gleaned from our conversations with them that most are long tenured. The food at all the restaurants was excellent. The grounds and rooms are absolutely spectacular. Our 3-bedroom unit was condo grade with very high end finishes – full kitchen, washer and dryer, 3.5 baths, 2 master rooms and a room with 2 full beds. There are two pool areas and the amount of pool space relative to the size of the resort (~only 145 rooms) is impressive. Plenty of pool side seating. The spa and fitness facility is also first class. My wife said her massage was one of the best she has ever had. One warning, there is some construction going on. It appears they are repairing exterior stucco. Looks like they have over 2/3 of the buildings done. At times there was some construction noise, but we didn’t find it overly obtrusive. Side note: We visited the Ritz Carlton for cocktails one evening. Although its very nice, we thought the views overall are not as good and the grounds are a notch below. The pool area seemed crowded. It has 400+ rooms for a comparably sized pool area. One off site restaurant recommendation – try Sansei Seafood for excellent sushi!
Beautiful views from the residence! Great pool area and nice poolside service. Lot of nice trails and beaches nearby. Do note that there's some construction going on right now which is a slight dent to the atmosphere but didn't particularly affect our stay. The other minor downside is that it's quite far away from Kahului - so the Road to hana and Haleakala drives take much longer.
What an incredible experience. This resort is absolutely beautiful with great views and amazing service. You can feel the luxury as soon as you drive up to the hotel. The views are stunning as you walk in and check in. The grounds are immaculate. Every detail was considered and it shows. Each room has a washer/dryer and a full kitchen with a stove, oven, dishwasher and microwave. Upon check in, the concierge will walk you to your room where you instantaneously receive your luggage from the bellman. Mark checked us in and was so friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Nikki at the restaurant, Erick & Jason at the pool bar and Gunner at the towel station. Jellyrose was also so sweet and helpful, she even brought us a bottle rack and washed our babies bottles. Just wow! Everyone we encountered was so friendly and eager to help without being annoyingly so. We will definitely be back!
