I’ve stayed at Hyatt Regency Waikiki for three years in a row, and unfortunately, this was by far my most disappointing visit. We found several bugs in our bathroom, including one near the toilet and another by the bathtub. I’ve attached photos. The room also wasn’t particularly clean. There was a lot of dust on the electronic toilet control panel and in several corners that clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. I reported the bugs to the housekeeping manager, who told us pest control would come the following day and that the room would receive a deep cleaning afterward. Neither happened. We were traveling with our young child, so this was especially frustrating. I understand that issues can happen at any hotel, but when management promises to take care of something, I expect them to follow through. The hotel offered a $100 credit, and the front desk waived one day of parking ($80) when we checked out. I appreciate both gestures, but I would have much preferred to have the actual problem addressed. I’m also a Hyatt Globalist and stay over 100 nights a year. While I received the standard benefits, there was very little recognition at check-in and no upgrade. I understand upgrades aren’t guaranteed, but the overall service just didn’t feel as welcoming or attentive as it used to. We’ve enjoyed staying here in previous years, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I really hope management takes the cleanliness issues and lack of follow-through seriously. After three consecutive years of choosing this hotel, I’m honestly not sure we’ll be coming back next year.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki for 7 nights with our family and had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect — right across from Waikiki Beach and within walking distance of so many restaurants and shops. Traveling with kids, especially a little one, the location made everything very convenient. A special thank you to HJ Lee for taking such great care of us. HJ was extremely helpful and made sure our stay was comfortable. We really appreciated the room upgrade and the extra effort to make our family feel welcome. It definitely made our trip more special. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we really enjoyed the view. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choices. Overall, we had a great week here. Excellent location, great service, and a very comfortable stay. Thank you again to HJ Lee and the Hyatt Regency Waikiki team. We would definitely stay here again!
Grace at the front desk absolutely made our honeymoon stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. From the moment we checked in, she took the time to walk us through our Explorist benefits and made sure we understood exactly what was available to us. She clearly took genuine pride in making sure we felt celebrated, and worked behind the scenes to get us a beautiful room that made our trip feel truly special. It’s rare to find someone who goes above and beyond the way Grace did. She was warm, attentive, and treated our honeymoon like it mattered to her too. If you’re staying at this property, we hope you’re lucky enough to have Grace take care of you at check-in! Gracias Grace!!
Maybe I’m simply used to receiving a higher level of service when staying at hotels in this category, or perhaps I had a different expectation of what this hotel would offer. However, after paying the amount I did for my stay, I expected to be treated with basic cordiality, kindness, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. From the moment I arrived, I did not feel genuinely welcomed or valued as a guest. The interactions with the staff often felt cold and dismissive, which was particularly disappointing given the price point and the expectations that come with staying at a hotel of this level. I understand that not every interaction can be perfect, but hospitality should be about making guests feel comfortable, respected, and appreciated. Unfortunately, I did not feel that during my stay. I expected a certain standard of service and attention to the guest experience, didn't happen. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and with the impression that the level of service simply did not match the price or the category of the hotel. For what I paid, I expected much more. Anyway, I realize that my comment probably won’t change anything, and I don’t expect it to. However, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share my experience here. Hopefully, it can at least provide some perspective on how the guest experience felt from my side.
I booked this trip back in January and no where on the expedia site was there any notice of construction happening. The giant waterfall wasn't running and construction was loud. I just was there May 25th thru the 31st. However, the location is perfect and the staff is amazing. I would recommend for the manager or whoever oversees the swim bar schedule, to schedule more servers for Saturday morning. My son and I went there for breakfast yesterday morning and that poor server was the only person taking orders. I felt bad for her but she was very nice and efficient. We could clearly see she was alone. Besides the bartender. The room was spacious but on the 5th floor and labeled as city view and the only view was the construction of the building behind the hotel. The balcony was a decent size but the planters had dead flowers in them. The furniture was dated but the tv was giant and bed was pretty comfortable. Rented a daybed one day and that was really nice. Came with bottled water and a box of chocolates. The pool attendant Mike was great and Michelle the waitress was very nice as well.
