We loved staying here!!! It’s right on the beach, beautiful accommodations. We had club access and loved being able to eat breakfast and snacks in the regency club. Our room was very nice - a 2 queen room. The bathroom is nice too. The room had a beautiful view of palm trees and the mountain. Would definitely - and hopefully - stay here again with the family.

We stayed at this hotel in room 414 and had a very upsetting experience. Our room had bed bugs, and all of us were bitten. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel at this level and price. We reported the issue to the hotel, and although they changed our room, the damage was already done. We were still dealing with bites, discomfort, stress, and a very difficult night. Our vacation was seriously affected, and instead of relaxing, we had to deal with a health and cleanliness issue. What made the situation worse was the lack of proper follow-up and accountability. Simply moving us to another room was not enough. We expected the hotel to take this matter much more seriously and offer meaningful compensation for what happened. This experience ruined our stay and left us extremely disappointed. I would strongly advise future guests to carefully check their room before settling in. For the amount of money we paid, this was absolutely not acceptable.
Don't waste an upgrade on club room access. The regency club here is at beat disappointing and frankly a joke. "Breakfast" was coffee, some cheese, salami, muffins, and some version of eggs. No hot meat options, no real food, and I have gotten better breakfast at a super 8 motel. Obviously they make the club so bad because they want you to go to their overpriced breakfast buffet where the service is glacially slow. And slow service is the norm here at Sonz, Japengo, and Umulo. Took 15 minutes to get a waiter, they forgot drinks, we were not offered dessert, and had to wait another 20 minutes for the check at Sonz. Japengo was one late thing after another, cold entrees because they sat too long, empty water, and unapologetic wait staff. For food, do yourself a favor and don't eat at the hotel, you will get better food and cheaper pricing. Rooms are decent, but only if you pay upgrades. I am sure that some people enjoy a view of parked cars, but I am not one of them. For a trip to maui, I would look at other hotels, the Hyatt here just misses the mark.
As a couple, we stayed for 8 nights. The check-in process is frustrating, as the self-parking is too far away to walk with your luggage, and there's no easy way to approach the curb with your car to unload it. The hotel wants you to use their valet, which is even more expensive and time consuming than the $50/night charge to walk to and from self-parking. I don't love that they have parrots and penguins living on the property in small spaces. Otherwise our stay was GREAT. Large, clean room with a couch, two balconies, and big bathroom with plenty of counter space, great shower. The resort itself is in a good location for walking along the beach to the rocks where we saw lots of sea turtles or walk along the paved path to other nearby restaurants and shopping. It's also a short drive to restaurants on Front Street. The pools and landscaping are well maintained. Easy access to complimentary filtered water and beach towels. When you need anything, they quickly bring it to your room. Wish they included a microwave in the room instead of charging $10/night to rent one. Their on-site laundry machines were helpful.
This is such a tricky post to write … We stayed here for a week for my husband’s conference. We arrived & valet was jam packed. Receptionist wasn’t very welcoming/kind. The hotel is all open with several buildings which is nice but it becomes challenging to walk when it’s raining — which it did half the time we were there. The room itself was underwhelming. We couldn’t believe it had a shower curtain, no amenities in the bathroom like shower cap, mouth wash etc… but it was nice to have a room viewing the ocean because we were able to see whales every day! Staff overall were ok but our phone charger & my husband’s sweater went “missing” and the hotel was not helpful with that… that was extremely frustrating & disappointing. The buffet breakfast is $40/pp & honestly not worth it. They had the hardest scrambled eggs Ive ever tried & hardest waffles- maybe made of cement- no idea… not a good selection of fruit either. I was anticipating to see local foods like pineapple maybe even coconut- but nope. Location wise it’s near the Whalers Village which has nice restaurant options, but honestly there are better hotels nearby … wouldn’t recommend staying here.
