Fairmont Orchid was the most amazing hotel we have EVER stayed at! I am still in awe of how stunning the grounds are. Every area is picture perfect, and the care that goes into maintaining this property is incredible. We saw gardeners working every day, waterfalls being cleaned each morning, and even housekeeping polishing the lobby railings. Everything was spotless! We opted for a suite upgrade with two bathrooms and two balconies, and it was just perfect. From the beautiful furnishings to the beds and pillows, we loved everything about our room. Housekeeping went above and beyond throughout our stay. Our Costco Travel package included daily breakfast, which would have been around $130 for two with tip. That was such a wonderful inclusion, and the breakfast had a large variety of high-quality food. The attention to detail throughout this hotel truly impressed us. A five-star experience in every way, and we could not have been happier with our stay!

A Stunning Stay at the Fairmont Orchid We just got back from a few nights at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island and it exceeded every expectation. The setting alone is worth the trip — lush tropical grounds, a gorgeous lagoon-style pool, and views of the Kohala Coast that make it hard to leave your lanai in the morning. The spa was a definite highlight. I booked a facial and the whole experience was incredibly relaxing — from the calming scents and soothing music to the skilled esthetician who really took the time to work out travel tension. It felt like a proper reset. But the best surprise was down at the beach — we got to swim right alongside a sea turtle! Gliding through the shallow water just a few feet from this gentle creature was such a magical, unexpected moment and easily the highlight of the trip for our family. And then there were the sunsets. Every evening we’d walk down to the beach and watch the sky turn shades of orange and pink over the water — an absolutely beautiful way to end each day. It’s one of those simple moments that stays with you long after the trip is over. Between the beautiful property, the top-notch spa, the incredible wildlife encounter, and those unforgettable sunsets, the Fairmont Orchid delivered an unforgettable Hawaiian getaway. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, scenic escape on the Big Island. We’ll definitely be back!
The Orchid is a terrific, family friendly Fairmont in a great spot. The beach, although small, has great snorkeling and is very calm, great for little kids. Free hour long snorkeling rentals are included (hopefully they don't abandon this in favor of third party management like the Fairmont on Maui). The property is impeccable, rooms are good sizes, breakfast buffet is delicious, and staff is attentive and fantastic. A particular shout out to Maria at the front desk who made our family of five, and especially the three young kids, feel very welcome during our stay in June. The kids already want to go back, and I know a lot of that is because she took the time to have conversations with them and make them feel special!
We loved our time at the Orchid! We stayed here 12 years ago and it was fantastic to return. The rooms are so quiet and spacious. The bathrooms are well appointed and the soap from Le Labo is such a nice surprise. The views are sublime from nearly every angle. We also appreciated how the pool loungers were never totally occupied (no lounger stress like at other resorts). And the staff- literally every single staff member we interacted with- were delightful and professional. My only nit pick would be the breakfast buffet staff really struggled each of the five mornings we were there with my coffee order (iced, almond milk latte). From 20 minutes to get my coffee to no milk at all to adding some sort of syrup I didn’t request to having three people ask me to clarify this pretty straightforward request one morning. It became a bad joke. A little bit of training on coffee basics would go a long way with the team. At $12 per drink- I was surprised that this was such a consistent miss.
We loved our stay at The Orchid! Everyone was so friendly, relaxed, and gracious! The grounds were beautiful and immaculately kept. Our garden view room in the South tower, 3rd floor, was lovely with swaying palms and plenty of birds. Unfortunately, there was outdoor construction going on just outside our room which was really noisy, but they moved us without hesitation to the ground floor in the opposite tower. I will say the ground level room was weathered and not quite as nice but still lovely with easy access off the patio. Both rooms had a small fridge for snacks and drinks. The service was excellent in all departments. The snorkeling was surprisingly awesome right in front of the resort. All in all we had a beautiful experience and would definitely return! It's a little piece of paradise on the Big Island. Thank you Fairmont Orchid :))
