We loved our stay here. The condo was clean and well kept, but the pool was the real star of the show. Incredible place to watch the sun set.

We booked Haliʻi Kai at Waikoloa through Delta Vacations and stayed in Unit 18F, which is managed by Castle Resorts. I wanted to leave a detailed review because before our trip I had a surprisingly hard time finding much information about this specific unit or what to expect when arriving. First, one important tip if you’re arriving late: contact the resort directly ahead of time and get your gate code and unit/door information before the office closes. Our travel was disrupted and we ended up arriving after hours, so having that information figured out ahead of time would make a late arrival much easier. The Castle guest services office is on property, and everyone we dealt with there was incredibly friendly, accommodating and helpful. Another thing we really appreciated was being able to pick up beach towels right at the office. With as much beach and snorkeling time as we did, that was extremely convenient. They also provided helpful information about the property and local area, including a Foodland Maikaʻi visitor discount, which was a nice little bonus when buying groceries. As for Unit 18F, it was fantastic for our party of seven. The condo is much more spacious than some of the listing photos make it appear. There is a large living area, full kitchen, multiple bathrooms, an upstairs area, lanai, and a washer and dryer right inside the unit. Having a full kitchen and laundry made a huge difference for a longer Big Island stay. One of the best surprises was how well stocked the unit was for the beach. There were multiple beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, water shoes, beach bags, extra sunscreen and other beach supplies available. Obviously inventory in a privately owned condo can change as things are used or replaced, but during our stay there was far more available than we expected. If I had known beforehand, there were several things we wouldn’t have bothered packing or buying. Haliʻi Kai itself was also extremely comfortable and peaceful. The Ocean Club was a great amenity with the pool, fitness center, restaurant/bar and oceanfront setting. During our stay the Ocean Club was open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the restaurant from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The property also offers tennis, pickleball, a putting green and other amenities. It felt much quieter and more residential than staying at a large hotel while still having resort amenities available when we wanted them. The entire Waikoloa location worked extremely well as a home base for exploring the Kohala Coast and the rest of the Big Island. Coming back at the end of the day to a spacious condo instead of a standard hotel room was exactly what we wanted. Most importantly, the people working at the Castle office were wonderful. They were genuinely friendly, helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. We had an excellent experience in Haliʻi Kai 18F, and I would absolutely stay here again. In fact, after this trip, it’s one of the places I already know I would be happy returning to.
Very nice condo space! Perfect for visiting family. Loved the amenities and grounds were glorious. Appreciated the laundry, but they stocked it with tide, which most people with sensitive skin are allergic to. First front desk staff when we checked in was incredibly rude and closed the window on me while I was kindly trying to ask a question. Pool has way too many rules and was not super fun for kiddos. The golf course next door starts using loud leaf blowers before 7am. The faucets in our unit restrooms were loose and you have to use the instructions to get hot water which are counter intuitive. Otherwise, we enjoyed the time there. The location was excellent if you have a car. Really great and mostly quiet spot geared towards the adult crowd.
My family spent 2 weeks here. Great area to walk and explore. Lots to do in the area. Great swimming all around be at the pool or beaches near by. Would recommend this place. Saw whales and dolphins almost every morning while having coffee on the balcony. Was perfect.
We stayed there for 6 days during the severe storm in March, and despite the wind and rain, had a very comfortable stay. The property is located close enough to the Kona to run in to town, and there is plenty of shopping and restaurants close by if we didn’t want to drive. The condo was clean, well stocked and excellent internet and tv’s. I can see why the Costco agent suggested this property, the price was excellent for our needs and would easily stay here again the next time we come to this island
