Hard to say anything negative about this resort. I haven't been a big supporter of Disney of late, but my sister invited us down and it's difficult to turn down a trip to Hawaii.
The entire resort was built to be culturally sensitive to the Hawaiian people. Architecture, art, and music all celebrate in a way that doesn't become cartoonish. Yes, it's a resort. Yes, it's going to cater to you. Yes, you should still go out and shop the local businesses first. But Aulani does a marvelous job, and every cast member is fantastic.
There's a cove that is great to swim in, a lazy river we lived in, several pools, and a 18+ hot tub to get away from kids.
Nitpick Disney... get your employees a shuttle for parking, or on-site parking. They work too hard to be walking a half a mile to get to/from their cars.

Aulani is a beautiful resort with amazing theming, a great pool area, a lovely lagoon, and lots of Disney details throughout. The resort itself could easily be a 5-star experience.
Unfortunately, it was also extremely crowded and noisy during our stay, which took away quite a bit from the relaxing resort atmosphere. On top of that, many things felt very overpriced, even by resort standards.
We still really enjoyed our time here and think Aulani is a very special place, but considering the crowds, noise, and prices, we would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Without those downsides, it would definitely be 5/5.
Recently spent a week in a 2 Bedroom DVC Villa and loved every minute of our stay. Staff is amazingly warm and friendly and always happy to help. Food options were solid and while a bit pricey were appropriate to the area. The best part was the combination of the pools, lazy river, and beach which make for very relaxing enjoyable environment.
As a DVC member, this is a 5 star resort for family and friends. All the rooms are arranged for comfort and safety. Staying at the Aulani is like home away from home. The staff are far beyond compare. They go far and above their duty to assist you with all your needs and wishes.
Beautiful resort. Everyone is so happy and helpful, including the guests. The food at the resort is great, good selection for kiddos. The water area is nice and clean. A very short walk to the beach, which is well maintained as well. The room is well stocked and very clean. No corner goes unwiped. I do reccomend downloading the app to keep track of all the happenings as there is much to do. Overall, I have a happy well fed family, that has been sleeping peacefully at night and playing hard during the day!
