Vietnamese Bread & Brew: Banh Mi Baking Class & Specialty Coffee

The best Egg Coffee and Bánh mì I’ve had in Vietnam. Hats off to our host Alex for the great experience!

Absolutely amazing cooking class experience!! Alex led us through a coffee workshop, Banh mi bread making, and banh mi assembly. It took about 3.5 hours and it was soooo much fun! At the end we got to eat all the food we prepared and fresh bread with enough to take home leftovers. 10/10 would recommend, thanks Alex!!!

We loved this whole experience. The communication was great. Diamond was such a friendly and informative host. It was a lot of fun learning how to make these recipes. We are glad we booked this experience and Would highly recommend.

Great experience learning how to make one of three signature coffee brews (salt, egg, or coconut). They do all three but each person chooses their favorite to help make it. So good. Jessie our guide was super knowledgeable, funny, and made it enjoyable all the way through. The bread making experience is fun and in the end had plenty to eat. So much so we took some bread home with us. Mmmm. Well worth the cost for this 3 hr experience. Cheers to the family and crew making this a memorable exerience for my wife and I.

This was AMAZING! Our guide and teacher Alex was so friendly and informative. She made everything look easy and helped us achieve excellent results. The Banh Mi were delicious!! We ate so many!! Ingredients were plentiful and fresh. We even got doggy bags. Absolutely well worth it!! You must go!!

This is the place to go when learning how to make Banh Mi (bread). The teacher is amazing, with a lot of knowledge. I left knowing that I am in with a good chance of success when making them at home. The coffee recipes were also very informative. Great class and highly recommend.

Jesse was a fantastic instructor who carefully showed our class of four how to brew coconut, egg and salted coffees. We were all very proud to have baked our own bahn mi and went on to construct a delicious meal with a perfect combination of flavours and textures. Jesse was welcoming and generous in sharing his knowledge of coffee and great food. Thank you for helping us in making such a special Hanoi memory, along with our new brewing and baking friends Cindy and Emily. Could not fault the cooking facilities. It was a great experience where to guide showed and explained many things about making bahn mi and we were all included in making a batch of dough then our own small bahn mi. also learnt about thier coffee and differnet types. Go hungry

Had a great time making egg coffee and bread for banh mi. Host’s English was great and instructions were easy to understand. Bread we made was super tasty (never thought about adding beer to dough). The food was prepared family style (one person did the cutting of the meat while another person prepared the veggies), but I felt involved in every step of the process. Some parts we did do as individuals like the coffee and the rolling of the bread. Highly recommend!

The Bahn Mi making was great fun. Jesse is a good teacher, very patient, and skilled. I learned a lot about coffee. They are located only 15mins from Lotte shopping mall which is very convenient if you want to shop a little too.

The BEST cultural experience! Now I can say I’ve made banh mi and egg coffee IN Vietnam! Hazel,our teacher, was hilarious and informative! I can’t recommend this experience enough!!!! The banh mi was sooooo good. We learned how to make coconut and egg coffee. Along the way we ate snacks and drank delicious homemade wine. The best part was getting to meet people around the world who also shared in this one of a kind experience! Thanks so much for such a fun time Hazel, -Tina and Eddy!

Very interesting workshop learning about banh mi (dont see other workshops on this yet) and salt/egg coffee! My partner and I could choose one coffee type to make. Facilitator was well versed in english and friendly!

A really nice experience. I enjoyed every part of it, including the market trip. The host - Alex - spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable. The food we cooked was tailored to our requests and was typical Vietnamese dishes. It all tasted really good when we ate it at the end. The pricing was really good. We were there for three and a half hours. I would definitely recommend it.

I joined Nancy’s banh mi making and coffee class at Love Kitchen Lab, and it was just as memorable! It’s a perfect mix of cooking and culture—you get to learn how to make a classic Vietnamese sandwich from scratch while pairing it with great coffee. Nancy kept the class fun and interactive, guiding us step by step but still giving us space to enjoy the process. Rolling the bread, preparing the fillings, and then brewing coffee to go with it was such a cool experience. If you’re traveling and want something hands-on, tasty, and local, this class at Love Kitchen Lab is definitely worth it!

Alex was a very good teacher. It turned out to be a private session with her and she was very hands-on and patient with us. It was a very fun experience!

This was such a great activity! Hazel and the team were so friendly and instructive. The pace was perfect, not too fast. Plus we went to the local market first to buy ingredients and all the while Hazel told us about life in Vietnam. She was super lovely! Would definitely recommend - I was a solo traveller but made very welcome to the cooking group.

This was such an amazing class!! We made some traditional egg coffee and then made banh mi from scratch! The class was around 4 hours long and was such good value for money! I would recommend this to absolutely anyone staying or visiting Hanoi. Staff were so lovely too ❤️

Amazing experience. Hazel was professional and informative as she shared Vietnamese culture and taught us the recipes and how to create our very own tasty cuisine. She walked us through a local market to get the farm fresh ingredients. An amazing shared experience that I highly recommend to everyone that visits Hanoi. My daughter and I had the best afternoon to finish off our visit to Vietnam.

My partner and I enjoyed learning to make egg and salt coffees, which we can’t wait to try at home! Making the banh mi and filling was also great - probably the best banh mi we had in Hanoi haha! They catered for me as a vegetarian too.

I had a wonderful time, learning how to prepare the dough and bake Bahn mi as well as how to make egg coffee. The wine tasting was great. The instructor was excellent and friendly. Highly recommend experience 🙂

Great cooking class with Hazel! Made delicious Banh Mi and Vietnamese coconut and egg coffee. Hazel was a great host and taught us about the origins of the food and coffee. Fresh ingredients, clean and spacious kitchen. Would highly recommend!

One of the best experiences during my trip so far! I ended up being the only person in my banh mi making class this evening, but the staff - especially Alex - made me feel so welcomed! Alex felt like a long-time friend while teaching me how to make coconut coffee and banh mi from scratch. I was also able to try some home-made fruit wine which was so good I ended up buying a bottle to take home. The banh mi’s turned out to be very delicious, I ate a lot and took some home too :) Overall, I recommend this to anyone that wants to experience a fun and informative cooking class! I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Hanoi to learn some other dishes! Thank you again to Alex and everyone at Love Kitchen Lab for making this class so memorable! :)

I was ill and could not attend, but Jane was unbelievable! She offered to switch me to the next day, but I left Hanoi then. So, she sent me some fabulous gifts by currier. What a delightful surprise!! I am hopeful to take the class upon my return to Hanoi. Thank you, Jane!!

We had such a great time at the banh mi and Vietnamese coffee making class through Dine with Locals in Hanoi. Hazel was super friendly and made the whole experience really fun and easy to follow, showing us how to make a fresh, tasty banh mi from scratch and proper Vietnamese coffee. It was relaxed, hands-on, and full of local tips, and everything we made was delicious. We left very full, very happy, and feeling like we could actually make it again at home — highly recommend if you’re into food and local experiences. You can also buy supplies needed to make the coffees back at home too - all super reasonable prices. Hazel also gave us a great recommendation for having Bun Cha for dinner in the Old Quarter that also did not disappoint 🫶

Was a very enjoyable and engaging class, I appreciated that everyone in the group had their own roll and purpose. Additionally the amount of details taking you through the process of making both the Banh Mi and the coffee was very methodical and easy to follow. I loved this class, the staff were very accommodating and funny.
