Itinerary
The old quarter in Hanoi is over one thousand years old and today retains much of the old flavor that made the area special in earlier times. Each street was the exclusive domain of one trade (guilds) so there are whole streets of blacksmiths, silver shops, paper shops, headstone makers and more. Originally there were just 36 streets in the old quarter but today there are more than 50 streets. Although many of the streets are short, and the area is rather compact.
After all, We will give you an unique experience to try the foods of the local Hanoi people. The benefit also goes back to the vendors or restaurants/ families as we buy directly from them.
Visit Hanoi by cyclo to dive in the soul of Hanoi. This "authentic" way allow visitors discover the city center in intense emotions. It's like you are in the center of a whirlwind of movement, wrapped in a cacophony of horns and the bustle of people who trying to make their way in the middle of all this excitement.
At the end of our Hanoi tour you are free to continue exploring the area or your guide will assist you with directions or a taxi back to your hotel.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- 5 Stars for our tour guide Ginna. She was very knowledgeable and fantastic with our 2 year old son. If it wasn't for her I'd be giving a 1 star review for the company. We booked through Trip Adviser the morning of the tour and selected our meeting point as a Hotel (one of the two options they give on the drop down menu). We got to the hotel and they had no idea about any tour and told us we might have been scammed. Then we saw a sign for Crossing Vietnam Tours across the road upstairs. We knocked on the door and a startled man answered saying the Crossing Vietnam Tours office was actually around the corner and he couldn't help. When we finally found the office they had no record of our booking (even though it showed as confirmed on our end) and that they wouldn't be able to do a tour until 3 hours later. Instead we arranged to try again the next day at 10am, which was confirmed on WhatsApp, but when she asked for our hotel information she said they would pick up at 11am. At 10:07am I got a message from our guide saying she couldn't find us so we rushed to get ready. If you go with this company I would advise to book a few days in advance and double check/confirm the details. The food on the tour was delicious and guide was fantastic. We did only get a cyclo from our hotel to the first location and there was a fair bit of walking between locations, which we didn't expect. We didn't mind so much as it helped to work up an appetite but was a bit tricky with our 2 year old in tow. The guide also gave us some great recommendations of other food to try and things to do in Hanoi and when we go to Da Nang/Hoi An.
Sara was amazing! Great food tour! Highly recommended! We had a lot of different food and a great group Sara was very informative and passionate about her job!
We had a great tour led by Chi. She was perfect as explaining the origin of all the food and general culture in Vietnam. Thank you Chi. This was a walking tour with a velo cycle at the end.
A last minute decision to go on the cycle food tour and I was rewarded with a yummy array of favourites. The food offerings were generous. Was lucky enough to get combined with a group doing train street so that made it even better. Great guides and good fun.
We had an amazing evening on the walking food tour with Ethan. He’s an incredible guide — friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about Vietnamese food and culture. What really stood out was how he made every stop feel personal, sharing the stories behind each dish and the small family-owned stalls we visited. We tried Bun Cha, Pho rolls, Banh Mi, mixed pho, coconut ice cream with sticky rice cooked with pineapple leaf, along with a coffee at the train street. Ethan also shared tips on what to eat, during our trip, which was super helpful. If you want to go beyond the tourist restaurants and truly taste Hanoi like a local, this tour with Ethan is absolutely worth it.
Great way to experience Hanoi. Our guide, Connor, was very knowledgeable about Hanoi’s food culture and history. He was able to pick spots based on our feedback and appetite. Worth the money!
Cuc (Daisy) and Trang (Evelyn) were great. Food was good. Just be ready to eat a lot. Cycling around the quarter was fun too.
I had an amazing time on a food tour in Hanoi with my guide, Anya, and I highly recommend her! The tour was a fun adventure, packed with delicious food and unique spots I’d never have found alone. Anya’s talent for choosing hidden gems in Hanoi’s busy streets made every stop special. Her knowledge of the local food scene was impressive, and her stories about each dish and place brought the experience to life. It was just us two, but it never felt awkward. Anya’s warm, friendly vibe made me feel at ease, like hanging out with a friend. She was engaging, attentive, and truly passionate about Hanoi’s culinary culture. The pacing was spot-on, the food was fantastic, and the memories are unforgettable. I can’t wait to recommend Anya’s tour to anyone visiting Hanoi. I’d love to do it again with a friend, as it’s too good not to share. For a fun, personal, and memorable food tour, Anya is the one to choose!
Hanoi, Vietnam’s vibrant capital, blends centuries-old heritage with dynamic modern life. The Old Quarter’s narrow streets bustle with markets, street food, and French colonial architecture, while serene lakes like Hoan Kiem offer peaceful escapes. Cultural landmarks such as the Temple of Literature and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum reflect the city’s deep history. Hanoi’s cuisine—pho, bun cha, and egg coffee—delights visitors with authentic flavors. Despite rapid development, the city preserves its unique charm through traditional festivals, crafts, and a warm, welcoming spirit. From sunrise at Long Bien Bridge to the lively night markets, Hanoi offers a captivating balance of tradition and progress.
Sarah was our excellent Tourguide, very informative, very friendly, very openminded, very funny and speaking very good english. All different offered food was excellent. And we also saw the train in the famois train street.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful!!! She has fully of energy and I would recommend the tour to other travellers.
We had Kelvin (Tu) as our guide! Kelvin is a very happy and great guide, he explains things in a funny and great way, would definitely recommend this 👏😁
Evelyn was our tour guide she was very smart and knowledgeable and able to explain the dishes well. She instantly won over our teenagers and 10year old (which isn’t easy). They were captivated and happily immersed themselves in the whole experience.
Pedro/K was an amazing tour guide, we loved it. It is so worth the money. The food experience was absolutely fantastic. We highly recommend it. So worth it.
We had such a great time with Stella on this tour! She was so kind, funny and knowledgeable and it felt like we had family showing us around the food sights if Hanoi. We tried so many yummy foods, the egg coffee was delicious too. Thank you Stella you were amazing!! 🥰🙏
Amazing tour that allowed us to see the heart of Hanoi! Food was delicious and fresh, and Sarah out your guide was amazing in telling us all about Vietnamese culture. Would recommend!! 😊

I recently experienced a food tour in Hanoi with Crossing Vietnam Tour, and it was fantastic. The tour took us through bustling streets and hidden alleys, sampling an array of delicious local dishes. Highlights included pho, banh mi, and egg coffee, each explained in detail by our knowledgeable guide. The small group size made the experience intimate and personalized. We visited authentic, family-run eateries that we would never have found on our own. The guide's passion for Vietnamese cuisine was infectious, making the tour both educational and enjoyable. This tour is a must-do for any food lover visiting Hanoi
Me and my sister had fun in this tour. We get to eat good Vietnamese food and drink the famous egg coffee and coconut coffe. We were also able to enjoy Old Quarter's streer night view through the cyclo. Big thanks to Ms. Stella and our kind and fun tour guide sara.
Enjoyed a scenic cyclo tour in Hanoi with Gene as our guide—friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, the egg coffee was delicious!
Enjoyed a scenic cyclo tour in Hanoi with Geni as our guide—friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, the egg coffee was delicious! Thx Gene
Gene was a really friendly tour guide, she was also very good at english. Coffee, lunch and cycling in the city was really authentic.
We had a lovely guide who was helpful and openminded regarding all our questoons. Kéne was very knowledegable about the city's history
Sarah, our guide, did an excellent job, giving us an interesting taste of good food as well the culture and history of Vietnam. The variety of food choices was great and the places she took us to exciting and showed us the inside of Hanoi. Train street visit with the passing train, just inches from our knees, gave us the thrill and the beer was cold 😊 All over a highly recommended tour, and Sarah was a great guide.
Amazing food and experience our guide was super nice ! Had a really good time. Really recommend this activity if you want to try real Vietnamese food
Great tour. Rachel was an excellent guide and was full of helpful tips for exploring Hanoi beyond our good tour. The food was fantastic and from tiny hole in the wall places I would not have known to try myself. The tuk tuk ride was a hoot and made for some good memories.
Would highly recommend the tour for the first day in Hanoi! You just get to know a lot of infos from your tour guide about the city and the land! Hung was such a great and sympathy tour guide!
Very good Tour with good Englisch speaking Guido Petros. You see and taste thing you maybe would not on your own. Also Petros told some history about Hanoi and Vietnam. Highly recommended.
Gene is amazing, entertaining, Informative tour guide I have ever known while visiting Vietnam. 5 stars for her!
I rate this tour 5/5 because our tour guide Sarah was on time to pick us up from our hotel, took us to great street food restaurants we never have found without a guide, and showed us around the beautiful city of Hanoi on a cycle. Sarah made us feel at home, explained each dish, shared great facts about the history of the dishes and Vietnamese culture. I would strongly suggest this tour for anyone visiting Hanoi! Thank you Sarah!!!
Gen was very lively and has the vibe to entertain us. Even extending help whenever we had inquiries about the city, the history, the viet food and coffee. She has very rich English knowledge. And would love to do another tour again with her.
Sarah! What a wonderful guide! She was so full of historical knowledge and took our group to some great spots. She made me sad to leave Hanoi for my next destination.
This was a great experience for us. Our guide Lina was exceptional with her knowledge of food and Vietnamese history. Highly recommend!
Amy was such a lovely tour guide. Besides sharing information about the food she also gave us an interesting insight of Hanoi’s lifestyle and people, a lot of good recommendations on sightseeing and food. The dishes she picked were absolutely delicious. We directly went back the next day to have another round ;-)
Gen gave us a good tour and explained the culture of the food. Also gen took us to goods that were healthy and fresh. Would highly recommend her
We were very lucky to have our tour guide, Mr. Dan. He was very knowledgable, experience, professional, and friendly. He was very accommodating to our diet request and very helpful in providing us with a lot of information. He made our trip truly an exceptional experience.
The cyclo tour is missable, but the food tour was amazing. There is a separate listing for just the food tour that I would do instead of this joint tour. Dan was funny and really enthusiastic about our group
Did the street food cyclo tour. We walked from the meeting point to a number of spots and ate some food prepared and waiting for us. Our guide Sarah's english was passable but only just. Was hoping for a bit more of an education but didn't learn much. We've since done other tours where we learnt a lot more about street food than this street food tour. We thought we'd be doing the tour by cyclo but a cyclo arrived at the end of the walk/food tour and gave you a 30 min ride. Basic tour was hoping for more.
Beautiful Leen, thank you so much for a great tour with delicious food and great conversation. Initially l wasn't really interested in a food tour. Now l would highly recommend doing a food tour as we learned so much that we became more confident in eating a wider variety of foods. Not mention we meet Leen❣️
Food was great! Tour guide was knowledgeable and gave very detailed descriptions about the culture, what tourists should avoid doing in Hanoi. He also helped recommend other things to do in Hanoi to ensure a pleasant stay outside of that food tour.
This was a great way to experience some of the local food around the old town of Hanoi. We tasted around 7 different dishes from different local restaurants that we probably wouldn’t have been brave enough to go into on our own. Our guide, Lucy, was fantastic, explaining all the different o gradients as well as giving us a bit of an insight into her life in Hanoi. All of the food was delicious and we discovered so new favourites that we have continued to eat throughout the rest of our holiday. Highly recommended - just don’t have breakfast beforehand as there was so much food!
Our tour guide, Alex, was very nice and spent time explaining the history and significance of each of the places we visited. He brought us to authentic hard to find places with great food and drink. We would highly recommend him for this tour!
Highly recommended booking this tour..great way to explore and try Vietnam foods ..very helpful tour guide
We went on this trip just a few hours after arriving in Hanoi and it was an excellent introduction to the Ild Quarter. The communication prior to the trip was excellent and we were met at our hotel. Anna our guide was superb. Her English was excellent and we learned so much, not just about the food and area, but also Vietnamese culture. We enjoyed eating in different places and particularly enjoyed the coffee shop we were taken to - we would never have found it without Anna. The cyclo trip also gave us chance for us to see more of the streets around this part of Hanoi. Really worthwhile trip; the food was very nice, but being guided by Anna made it more special.
We are a group of 6 people and did the tour on our second day in Hanoi, perfect way to see the sights, understand the culture and get advice on shopping, transport and food, Nick was our guide, absolutely awesome, loved our restaurant choices! you wouldnt find these on your own, particularly loved the egg coffee and fried spring rolls and cyclo was a lovely way to start the day! definitely worth the money! thanks Nick from Paul, Kathy, Cade, Daniel, Ruth and Paul.
The Cyclo ride was a fun way to explore Hanoi. Our guide Alex was very informative during the walking food tour. Food choices were okay, excellent coffee from original cafe. Would recommend, especially with this guide. Was a good way for me to learn the way (streets) especially as a solo traveler.
Explore Hanoi by walking in a group is very good. The tour guide, named is Anna, always answer our "what and why" question than compare to our culture. Besides that, we taste 4 different traditional food that really good. The tour guide serves no pork food...
If I will remember anything about tours in Hanoi, it will be about the effort we out into seeing the city. Similar to Paris, Hanoi is best enjoyed while walking. Alex was an awesome guide. He brings an enthusiasm and optimism to the tour without the usual political angle of the others. And he is quite knowledgeable of the ins and outs of authentic Hanoi cuisine. And his English is near accent neutral making it easy for Filipinos, Americans, and a Korean to understand him. Will definitely get him for our next visit next year.
