The accompanying music is played live and the musicians are clearly visible on the sides. This made the visit much more enjoyable.

This is a ticket service which will deliver the ticket just before the show. Contrary to that which appears on the website a person will be standing just outside the main entrance it.
My wife and I thought that the puppetry work was highly skilled and we appreciated this aspect. However, we had no idea what it was about! I would recommend researching the storyline before attending. It was worth going for the spectacle, but the music and storyline confused us.
Very interesting show I loved it
Wonderfully weird and chaotic We enjoyed every minute. It all worked well when seemingly it wouldn’t Show was lovely
Show was fun. Short. Can’t understand the language but the puppetry, music and singing Make up for that.
Show is cute, but the tickets via Viator is a scam!! I bought VIP tickets (row A-E), then at the theater they claimed no more vip tickets available. They wanted me to have row L tickets. In row L you barely see anything and they are much cheaper tickets. I said no, and stand my ground and somehow ‘magically’ we got the tickets we paid for and sat first row. Which had even 5 more free seats!! So beware!! Also buying directly at the theater is cheaper, however do it in time like a day before.
The Water Puppet show was fantastic from start to finish. I really enjoyed the accompanying instruments and songs as well. The puppeteers are so talented, they brought the characters to life! I didn't feel it necessary to have english translation, it wasn't too hard to figure what was happening. The puppets were funny and endearing, A big thumbs up! One thing to watch, make sure, if you hold. your phone up to record or take a photo, to ensure that you're not blocking the view of people behind you. If you're in Hanoi, you MUST see the puppet show!
Unclear on where to go and the agent was not available when they said . Disappointed that they didn’t make it clearer that I still had to purchase a ticket for the event
Great cultural experience! Super cool and highly recommend. The show is just the right amount of time. Definitely get the audio guide to help understand each act.
Water puppet show is well worth it. Depending on day, probably worth ordering tickets ahead of time as several shows were sold out
Not only is the ticket price here double the price at venue. There is no skip the line for collection so you will line up anyway. Also said English guide but it’s not the case and you need to purchase additionally.
Absolutely amazing. A must see experience. We really enjoyed everything - the culture, the music, the drama, the humour and the art. We sat right at the back and could still see everything.
A great experience and fun way to learn about Vietnamese legends and folk tales. Fun for adults and children alike.
This was an hour happily spent. Well worth the ticket price it goes for one hour. The show is accompanied by musicians playing old traditional songs as the puppets act out legends of the old history of the region which goes back thousands of years. We laughed a lot. Lovely live music, charming performance, I was glad I came.
Great show of puppet virtuosity in a beautiful old Theater.Great for kids and elders alike. I loved the show, the puppets, the music and singing. I enjoyed it without a guide and headset. It takes slightly less than an hour and they start on time. Best to book online a few days before.
The water puppet theater is a must see! Enjoyed the music, vocals and performances. Excellent seats and customer service
I attended the water puppet show in my area and it was an absolutely magical experience! The puppeteers were so precise and precise in their movements, that it felt almost like the puppets were living! The show had a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern entertainment. I highly recommend it to my friends, as it's totally worth experiencing at least once.
I found this on the internet and thought it was something different to experience. We are so glad we did! The puppetry is fantastic. The performance was in Vietnamese and we weren’t sure what the story was but have pieced it together since seeing it. It is clever, funny and thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend it.
Water puppet show was an eye opener. Great to see such cultural tradition kept alive. The puppet show was skillfully done. Only grouse was that it was in Vietnamese and I could not understand the story line.
it came back to life after covid, I love the rhythm of life here. The street food is still great, especially the "bia hoi".
Hanoi Old Quarter is very busy and chaotic. So if you are walking there please mind that you are walking in one of the most dangerous areas you can choose as nearly all pavement areas had been blocked by parking scooters. With this in mind you can enjoy the picturesque and beautiful chaos. Try some food from the local street food dealers or check out one of the many western cafes and restaurants. For excursions I would recommend the 2 hours rickshaw tour as you will be directly in the street life. Your rickshaw driver will stop at the most interesting spots or on demand. Enjoy 😊
Watched this several years back but never got to post a review. Great cultural experience. You will see creativity and innovation in using various techniques and arts in storytelling. A very immersive experience and something very Vietnam. Definitely recommend this activity!
An amusing and unique show giving an insight into a traditional Vietnamese entertainment event. Puppets dancing in water accompanied by traditional songs bringing to live fold stories. Worth a visit as truly unique
The best weather to walk around the places with your light jacket and jeans. The lake and French influenced building does really makes it romantic! I’m overwhelmed with the people and foods..was really great trip! Thanks Hanoi
An affordable show with good music and laughter. The puppet show is performed skillfully. Highly recommended.
The water puppet show is extremely over rated. We had to leave half way and I think is a waste of time.
The show was very good and interesting. The live music complement the show. It is a must see in Hanoi
A little boring, it seems very routine and but should be able to grasp the language makes it just makes little sense, not worth the time.
I'd booked it a long time ago, but no tickets had been prepared. It took me a while to tell the teller and get my ticket ready. The theater was very crowded and the handling of the puppets was very good. Everyone was waist-deep in the water and manipulating the puppets.
I liked that the tickets were delivered by someone at the water puppet theater for us. And that happened without us asking for it. We had been delayed due to the traffic and could not pick up the tickets at the Palace hotel in time - so 35 minutes before the start of the performance. I find the latter rather cumbersome. Why not deposit the tickets at the theater and have them picked up there????
Very impressive this about 50mintügie water puppet theatre. While one does not understand linguistically what it is about, with a lot of imagination each visitor can develop his own idea about the plots. Would visit it again, very centrally located.
This short show is just part of Hanoi and you should have seen it. Traditional music and singing. Sounds a bit strange to us.... The stories follow each other quickly and are varied and fun to see. Definitely do!
Nedoporucujem. Listok by stal 100, ale vdaka tejto sluzbe vysiel na 180. Co je sialene. Kludne by som ho bez problemov kupila na mieste za 100. Este nemate ani listok nachystany v divadle, ale musite ist do hotela nedaleho divadla a tam si ho zobrat. Takze vobec nedoporucujem vyuzivat tuto sluzbu. Zbytocne vyhodene peniaze a strata casu.
A moment of complete change of scenery to walk these alleys. Facades blackened by pollution and time are hidden by vegetation. The very tall and narrow cubic houses were surprising. And the streets are lively. Walking in this neighborhood plunges us into Hanoi of old.
magical show to discover quality, super supported by singers and a gang orchestra quality must go there and the neighborhood is most pleasant, the small lake of the turtle the small red bridge and the multiplicity of different shops
They're definitely worth a visit. Magical show wonderfully accompanied by an orchestra and quality singers.
Very, very interesting, special...The old quarter on very didactic bikes or tricycles. It introduces you to city mobility....
