We loved the puppet show, singing and music- short 55min was a great length of time for kids to get a taste of this legendary artform. Lovely cool air conditioning was appreciated by all. Did we need to pay $$$ to skip the line? No, but it was definitely handy and we didn’t have time to wait until next show (show we’d booked was actually sold out by time we arrived for tickets)

The puppet show is pretty cool and quite entertaining. It is in Vietnamese and they have translators available but didn’t use them. Enjoyed it nonetheless. Not a bad seat in the house so price is right. Show was about 50 minutes. Thank you
A light hearted hour is spent watching the puppets. A clever and engaging performance suitable for adults and families. Easily reached from the old quarter. Well air conditioned and comfortable theatre.
Fun cultural experience, affordable, family friendly, and air conditioned!
Unmissable. Unlike anything else.
Very enjoyable experience....when in Rome etc. Loved the live musical element.
Enjoyable and fun. Just the right amount of time, and very reasonable price.
This time I got to see this show (similar to Saigon) in a great seat (B13), which meant I didn't have a sea of heads in front of me. The show was great...much respect for all the cast members who work their little butts off...it's got it all...music, laughs, good moves. It's reasonably priced for an hour's fun and entertainment. My advice is book early so you can get a good seat. A big thumbs up from me for this one.
Amazing show, first time to watch a puppet show the people who made this show are so talented
Loved the show, totally woth it , but instead of this skip the Q , there was actually a Q to get the tripadvisor tickets and no Q at the ticketoffice … For me it was also unclear where to get my ticket, ticketoffice or in the Q. Also the actual ticket (150) was much cheaper than what I paid for (400). Next time I would just walk over to the ticketoffice ..
One of the most unique experiences, not a fan of puppeteering but this was just breathtaking, incredible artistry
Not worth it you still have to wait in the lane and seats provided was not good enough
It was a great show and really good experience. The organisation at front of house was a bit confusing but it was ok and there were no theatre etiquette rules so the experience was affected by lots of people talking and walking in front of the stage.
Really worth going while you are in Hanoi!
This was an interesting show, something a bit different. It was a great way to begin understanding the Vietnamese culture and its origins. We were very pleased to have purchased tickets near the front as it was hard to see over the heads of those in front. Also very pleased to purchase the translation device to explain what each story was about. The musicians were very, very talented.
Absolute waste are of money. Booked 3.5 weeks before the show to ensure good seats. Upon being given tickets was told we had been downgraded because there “weren’t enough VIP tickets”. The guy representing this company did not have a sign or anything identifying him and was impossible to find, I queued in 3 different queues to finally get to the representative 5 minutes before show time. Hanoi is a small place and unless you absolutely don’t have time to visit the theatre day of the show and pickup the tickets, do not book this. Overall stressful and frustrating experience, just to end up in bad seats anyway.
Booked tickets through Trip Advisor and all went smoothly. Show is very clever but needs narration or understanding of the story line to really appreciate
A must see in Hanoi - great show and a small insight into Vietnamese culture
This was my second time seeing the water puppets at this theatre and it did not disappoint. This time was with friends who had never seen a show before, and they were delighted too. I was unsure about buying tickets this way (through Trip Adviser) as the tickets are not waiting for you at the box office, but it said a local vendor would meet us there to give us our tickets. It was pretty chaotic around the entrance, but I got in the line for the box office with my ticket email opened on my phone and sure enough a young woman was there, pointed out the guy who had our tickets, and I got them right away. Make your reservation ahead of time...almost every show on the board for that week was sold out.
The show was a great experience in Hanoi. Highly reccomend. It was a bit confusing how to exchange our virtual ticket for the hard copy. 5 minutes before show time, someone from Viator comes to the theatre and brings your ticket.
Okaish show. Here they sell ticket at 2x price. If you buy, get English guide from venue otherwise it will be difficult to follow what's going on.
The show was brilliant but we had to fight to get our tickets- although the information said present your voucher at the ticket office, we were told that people who booked online had to wait till 5 minutes before the show and then the representative would come and give out the tickets. There was no indication of where the representative was and he had no clear sign. When we found him he told us he hadn't got our tickets yet and to wait. We had to argue that our booking had been confirmed and he eventually gave us tickets with someone else's name on.
Excellent very original . Great performance
Great show! Both the puppets and music were entertaining and fun to watch.
The show is the right length to keep your attention. Very entertaining!
Skip line dosnt work at all. No point to buy it. U don't need to wait in queue just come 5min before and ask staff, staying beside about ur tickets. That's all.
cute excursion - bought our tickets through Viator but could not choose a particular seat or row, only a category. I was stuck behind a tall person so I could not see without continually shifting my position, which was probably annoying for the people behind me. The seating is tiered but not very steeply.
The show itself was fantastic but unfortunately, despite booking ages ago for a Premium View, I had the worst seat in the house (right to the side with part my view blocked). I therefore would just go to the theatre directly to book my ticket next time. No point skipping the line if you’re going to be in poor seat.
Unique water puppet show. Don't forget to get the radio headphones for an explanation of the stories being played. Splurge an extra few coins for a VIP seat near the front.
Well worth the time and money. I enjoyed the music as much as the puppets. Only snag, rather hard to find the guy with the tickets.
Our first experience with Vietnamese music and traditional instruments. The performers were brilliant and the music sublime. The puppet stories invoked a sense of rural life in Vietnam to the backdrop of their mythology. We totally loved it. It was about one hour long which was perfect. The seats were comfortable and the theatre intimate affording a perfect view no matter where you sat. If you are umming and ahhing about this, just do it. It’s so cheap anyway.
Fast confirmation and easy entry saved us a lot of time. The water puppet show was lively and memorable . If i have time , i will go back here and use this service
Easy booking and skip-the-line entry helped us save time. The water puppet show was colorful, fun, and very enjoyable.
It is a way to emerge yourself into a cultural phenomenon. However, the story presented is very simple. If you don’t speak Vietnamese, it’s like watching a few swirling puppets with gorgeous music. It’s odd, like toy Teletubbies dancing to a live band
This was a very enjoyable show- like nothing I have ever seen. It gave us a glimpse of into the traditional historical culture of Vietnam.
Head this was great so booked a VIP ticket a for the front row but found ourselves in row H, due to booking supposedly. A refund was promised but has not arrived. The show itself was very good, but disappointed the not get the seats we paid for.
This is a scam. We arrived and the designated person who was supposed to get us our "skip the line" tickets, did not have our tickets. This was the same for nearly every other person who had booked via TripAdvisor or Viator. I ended up purchasing another set of tickets from the ticket counter for the following day. I strongly recommend going to the theatre yourself and booking in person. The show itself is really good. I have tried to report this company to TripAdvisor and request a refund but it appears there's no way to do this through the app or through Viator.
Great show with live music and narration! But the instructions for where to pick up tickets were unclear so we ended up standing in line anyways for 20 minutes, and were told that the VIP section had sold out but the website was not updated in time. They still managed to get us seats & partially refunded us.
We asked for audio and they refused to give it to us, we were ready to pay for audio but no audio available by tour operator. We lost 100 AUD. Tour operator asked us to contact TripAdvisor and there is no way to contact them. I suggest now to use trip advisor to everyone. Big scam. Adding a screenshot message from the operator.
Booked for the 3pm show… the show itself was pretty good. Beware booking certain times, kids are very disruptive. The booking fee is double than it is if you were to pay at the theatre, just visit there a couple days ahead to get the tickets. 200k dong for vip admission which is only about 12 dollars compared to 25 dollars you pay for “skip the line” which means you wait for a guy to show up to give you tickets. It felt very disorderly and we didn’t know who we were looking for. Just to wait.
Loved the venue, small, intimate and good acoustics. The singing and musical accompaniment was really good !!!!!!!!!
A fun filled show that told some of the district’s history through water puppetry. Well worth the visit & no need to understand the language!
I was blown away by this very cool experience. The musicians are amazing, the puppeteers are true performers. The idea of using puppets in a water bath made this show like nothing I have seen before.
Pre booking with Trip Advisor was a great move. When we arrived there was a bus load of people arriving. We were ushered to a separate door and tickets handed over. Definitely skipping the queue. The show was so clever the musicians were very talented. It went just long enough. Was a nice addition to a full day of exploring.
A fantastic show and a must when you are in Hanoi. If you want legroom, prebook the front row! Last for around 45 minutes, all in vietnamese but you can still understand what is going on. Great singing and music.
Upon arrival at the theatre we were told our seats are no longer available. We got allocated different seats in row N instead of A,B,C or D and were promised a refund for the downgrading. Seats were still good just a lot further back.
Didn’t know what to expect but it was a nice little show. Despite some bits in Vietnamese, still followed, stores were funny and wide mix of puppets.
Well worth watching, it's a real insight into the Vietnamese culture. Not only water puppets skilfully manipulated but also the instruments and singing.
The experiance was amazing and so surprising. The art form, the music and the work that goes behind it is just so praise worthy. And it gave enough time to each story that it was totally worth it
Surprisingly fun experience with our kids 7 and 3 years old. We got VIP skip the line tickets which made it a smooth process. Kids really enjoyed it and we did too.
