We arrived to collect our tickets at the box office which was a very swift experience. The show is fabulous and everyone has a great view as the seat are very staggered. The provide booster seats for children too. The puppeteers are so talented.
Very good and unique show but not so good theater hygiene conditions. We all may get bite by maybe ladybugs during the show.
This traditional puppet show is well worth it. Its very unique and gives you an insight into Veitnamese music and culture. I would recommend getting the audio, even it you get 1 to share with family.
The show was good. The music was very good and it was an interesting experience. It was unfortunate that they admitted several late comers which was very distracting, especially for those seated near the entrance.
I thought the seats were first come first serve once you have a ticket, besides the 2 front vip rows. But theyre assigned seating, and my seat was in the very back even though the late comers got to sit way up front. If closer seats were available i have no idea why they’d put you in the back when you’re paying over double for ease? Lady was nice, but it was honestly really annoying paying more to have to sit in the very back. You technically do get to skip the ticket buying line, but i feel like if i had gotten tickets at the counter I would spent half the money and gotten way closer.
I am a first tourist to Vietnam. One of the reasons I want to come is because of the people here. You can order online if you don't have time. I chatted with the staff here for nearly 15 minutes. Everyone is very friendly
This time I take my children. They love water puppets. Crowded so I ordered online, very convenient and fast. The program in Vietnamese, people can buy more Audio Guide if needed
If you have not seen puppet, you must see immediately. Very good and unique. You can queue if you have a lot of time, or you can buy online if you are too busy, when buying online to just get tickets and go up
Returning to Vietnam for the third time and was introduced to see water puppets. It is really good and worth the money. If you don't have time to queue, you can buy tickets online. Come just get tickets
The show was great! But please do NOT book from Asia Travel Legend group. They are bunch of scammers. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. At 9am in the morning, I bought 4 tickets for a family of 4 people for 5:20 pm show. When we arrived, one guy from this company handed us 4 tickets for 6:20pm show. He told us that the 5:20 pm show was full. Since when did they know that information and yet none of them contacted us ahead of time? Now we have to cancel our dinner reservation that we scheduled for 6:30 pm. We stayed calm and left to come back one hour later. We bought 4 VIP tickets. To our biggest dissappointment, the tickets they gave us were located at the very edge of the theater, which means, you cannot see much at all. And we were separated from our kids. There were two tickets in one row and another two in the row behind. Not only did we get bumped to different show time but our seats were terrible. Skip the line slogan is a farce. The line to buy tickets are not that long. Plus it is a 50 minutes show and there are mutiple shows in a day. If you have a flexible schedule, please book your own tickets. They are charging people about $ 15.00 more than buying the tickets at the gate, yet you don't know what you are getting. Please don't fall in their trap like me and my family. At least make sure they are giving you good seats where you can actually see if you are paying more than 4 times actual price of the tickets. As for me, I will not buy any tickets through these people again. Good luck!
It was a fun interesting experience, it is relatively busy, but was worth the money and time to go and see
Great show, a unique experience that is so clever and performed well. A must see as it's very much a local tradition and art form. Thoroughly entertaining. No need to spend extra on the audio translations as the stories speak for themselves. The music is played live and make sure you prebook as it gets very busy.
It helped having skip the line tickets as the ticket booth line was quite long considering low season in Hanoi. We enjoyed the show! The music and singing was very impressive - a cool experience in Hanoi to embrace Vietnamese culture and history!
It's a scam. Plain and simple. You pay more than double what you would to but on site, because you're guaranteed to 'skip the line'. Except you don't get to skip the line at all. The picture shows where we had to start queueing. Nowhere near the boss office. And they haven't got back to me about a refund.
One of the most memorable show. Must watch. Depicted the viatnamese culture. Great coordination of artists.
This show is a must do. Pay for the upfront seats. Book early and ask for the first two rows. The seats are stacked high and deep and a tall person in front of you will block your sight lines. Booking with this agency is worthwhile because their representative meets you near the box office with your paper tickets, avoiding a terrible scrum at the will call box office.
While I think the tickets were a tad expensive through Viator, our booking was last minute and it was convenient as there was a person waiting near the ticket counter to handover the tickets.
Redeemed the physical tickets from a designated person at the theatre and skipped the lines. Just as advertised. The show itself was enjoyable too. Would recommend for first timers.
What a surprise this was. Expected it to be somewhat a cheesy experience but many have recommended it so we tried it out! It was really good. Impressive local instruments, live singing, quite funny and very good actually. To find the lady that has your tickets, squeeze to the front of the regular queue to the left hand side in our case. A lady stood there handing out the pre-booked tickets
A 50 minute, colourful unique experience. We booked for a same day show, tickets collected from a nearby hotel and were glad we’d opted for the audio headset as this gave a brief description of the different scenes.
Best place to visit. Neat and clean environment for everyone who will go there will enjoy this place. Impressive look and best place for peace and calm environment
Amazing service and excellent staff to provide best service on time. Highly recommend this place for the visitors
Water puppets show is a historic cultural arts show of Traditional Vietnam Worth seeing for the skill of the puppeteers & the commentators. Should be translated in English also to make it more attractive for the foreign visitors. The accompanying music was also magnificent
such a wonderful place for a brief walking. The air is fresh and VNese people are so friendly. So nicee
Lovely walk round the lake - especially nice when local families are out and the roads are closed to traffic. The little temple is very pretty and worth a visit. The building looks stunning when lit up at night. There were lots of young people wanting to practice their English - one young boy was undertaking a survey and managed to interview several members of our group - he and his friends were polite, friendly and interested in visitors. Lovely people in Hanoi!
They had a nice exhibit in the middle of the lake, perfect place to walk around specifically on the weekends when the police closes the vehicle traffic. Here, you can see street performers, locals playing a game closely related to "Hacky Sack" and people exercising. This was definitely my go-to place on the weekends in Hanoi.
Hoan Kiem lake is located in the middle of Hanoi. Its name means "The Lake of the Restored Sword", referring to a 15th-century legend. The larger island on the north side of the lake houses Ngoc Son temple. It was originally built during the Tran dynasty (1225-1400) but was last restored in 1865. It venerates Van Xuong, the god of literature, as well as La To (a physician) and Tran Hung Dao, a 13th-century leader who fought successful wars against the Nguyen. Enormous turtles still lived in the lake until recently. When they were spotted, it was supposed to herald the death of one of the country's leaders. Hoan Kiem Lake is a beautiful spot in the city of Hanoi. The lake is located in a lovely setting and is strangely peaceful. It is a place to get some break from the hustle-bustle of the city. There is a turtle tower right in the middle of the lake where many turtles are found. It is a nice place to relax, run around, or have your coffee. There is a lot of activity in the morning going on at the lake. People come here to jog, take aerobic lessons or just enjoy nature in calm and serene surroundings. It is an easy walk to the lake. You must take your camera here to capture the astounding beauty of the lake and the activities around the lake. Do not forget to stop and have a drink and something to eat.
Living between Hanoi and Canada. Hoan Kien Lake is a must, and your right beside the old quarter. During the day Hoan kien is just flowing with people at night it’s just as colourful with people and amazing lights. It’s just a sacred piece of history you have to respect and see
I enjoyed walking around the lake and particularly noting the Turtle Tower (Tháp Rùa) in the center of it. Lots of people about, some exercising, some relaxing. Lots of sculptures scattered about. Nice place to just relax and live in the moment.
This is the most iconic site in Hanoi. Nice to stroll around and there's plenty to do and see in the streets to and away from it.
Lots of activities going on in the mornings here - Tai Chi, what seems to be orientation/nature classes of some sort with children, general hustling and bustling and joggers etc which is nice, later in the day its more families, couples or people alone wandering, its always busy, especially at night! Its pretty and free but be careful of the stereotypical tourist traps that are all around it - the women with their baskets and carrying poles and the classic "maffia" donuts this ruins it a little
The lake looks absolutely stunning by evening with the bridge illuminated in flaming red. There are lots of restaurants around serving food that is amazing that you'll be spoilt for choices and in case you're right here on Fridays, Sundays and Saturdays then that is all the more entertaining as the lakeside is abuzz with numerous functions, live music, shows, street food & lots and lots of shopping.
I enjoyed Hoan Kiem lake too much that I go it so many time! You can walk on the side of the lake and then eat dinner at a restaurant. There are many choices for you to eat! In the weekend it was the walking street so you can walk in the middle of the road too. It is free for you to go to the lake, and if you choose to eat Hanoi snack while walk, that a good choice because it very cheap!
When I came here, I found the scenery very beautiful. There are many trees that will make you feel comfortable and the people here are friendly. If you have the opportunity to come to Vietnam, you need to try it soon ~~
Beautiful in the day and magnificent at night with all the lights take a ride around the lake and enjoy the sites
Lovely people. If you are a westerner be prepared to make many new friends and asked many questions. Also grab some cheap but delicious grilled meats from the street vendors. All the kids with the RC cars are so much fun to watch.
This was a nice place to visit and it was only a few minutes walk from our hotel. Just walk around the lake, taking in all the beautiful flowers in the gardens. Unless you have a boat, you can not get to the - Lake of the Restored Sword. Be sure to go back in the evening to see it all lit up. There are plenty of places to eat hear too.
A must visit area of the Hanoi, Old Quarter. Stroll the surrounding lake area either on foot or via a comfy peddle bike pushed seated chariot! Great area for shutter bugs with a romantic park to just sit amongst beautiful flower beds. Lots of action especially on the weekends when the main streets leading to the lake and park areas are closed of to motor vehicle traffic so children can play in the streets.
A good walk for us (me and dad) from the hostel to the lake almost everyday when we were in Hanoi. There were a lot of restaurants, shops around the lake. Could see sun setting on a clear day. (I travel with my dad who is a senior)
I visited the temple across the red bridge on Hoan Kiem Lake it was amazing a real must see if you visit Hanoi Walking around the lake you can catch hop on hop off tour buses, there are few coffee shops and a lovely restaurant which is lakeside with views across the lake, at night it looks lovely. The locals have dancing at night there, I felt very safe walking around Hanoi at night. security is every 70-80m right around the lake day &night, the locals are just beautiful people really had alot of fun there.
Great jogging spot in daytime. It was perfect running around the lake in the morning. It’s about 1.5km, All paved, nice green and flowers, air feels slightly cleaner as it’s besides the water.
Place that is great to sit down and relax and drink an iced coffee from the hustle of the city while watching the locals do dancing, tai chi, fishing, neighborhood games and sign up in case you enjoy. Not many restaurants and cafes overlooking the lake but costlier then place across the road out of the lake really simply spending for the perspective. Few early parts continue to exist as well as the temple may be worth a glance for comprehending the story of the lake.
We gone to the area frequently while shopping and checking out Hanoi on the weekend they close it all and also its flooded with families. things that are Incredible to see locals doing concerts dancing singing as well as the shop's markets of course. Bear in mind of donut ladies and fruit sellers there is nothing for totally free.
A very lake, around perfectly looked after environmentally friendly areas. Attractive and a relatively calm environment. Pedestrianized over the weekends a beautiful spot to walk and observe the locals have...
Lake that is small but means lots to Hanoi individuals. To find out more read through the ebook on Hanoi History. I really love strolling around during summers and spring, to learn the flora and peoples (Hanoi residents and visitors)
Pretty lake and lovely to walk around . After walking through the busy old quarters it’s nice to be able to move on a footpath without lots of obstacles, like parked scooters, people doing things, moving scooters, rubbish bins and whatever. So a. It of an oasis.
You just have to take a walk around the Lake. It is a beatifull area - and you kan have tea, coffee and icecream
There's a lot of action around the lake in the Old Quarter. It's quite a busy place, but, we felt safe at all times. Walking around the lake was a pleasant experience and it was quite relaxing. It was well paved. We walked around the lake multiple times during our trip to Hanoi, both during the day and in the evening. A nice way to relax for an hour or so when in the Old Quarter area.
It is nice that in the centre of Hanoi capital with numerous motobike you can find a huge lake to walk around. It always fresher and cleaner than the other part of Hanoi. I also enjoy night market with plenty of games and social acitivities around the lake at the weeken.
