Our trip was led by Apple and luckily for us. It was just the three of us. She was very charming, perceptive and informative and shared many pieces of information about the food and the culture and the history.

The forerunner of Dong Xuan Market was Bach Ma Market and Cau Dong Market - the two ancient markets of Thang Long Citadel. After the French authority ordered the abolition of all small markets to form a new large market in the purpose of facilitating the purchase and exchange of goods, Dong Xuan Market was born in 1889. Thanks to its riverside location - where boats operated busily all day and night, the market quickly became the biggest trade center in the capital. In 1947, the market was heavily influenced by the fierce war of the Hanoi's soldiers and people in the early days of the resistance war. Then, a big fire occurring in 1994 caused great damage in the market. Therefore, a year later, Dong Xuan Market was rebuilt with a total area of three floors of nearly 14,000 m2 with more than 2,000 stores.
Long Bien Bridge (Vietnamese: Cầu Long Biên), is about 2km from Hoan Kiem Lake, with a history of over 100 years, is not only a traffic construction but also a meaningful historical and symbolic witness to the resilience of Hanoi during the two greatest resistance wars against the French colonialists and American imperialism as well as the dramatic changes of this city in the new era.

We checked out a few different tours but this one far surpassed any of the other tours me and my partner have done. Tina was incredibly, we weren't expecting a full on culture tour as well as checking out amazing foods spots! Thank you guys so much for an authentic not touristy experience! Highly Recommend!
Elena was lovely and took us to so many delicious restaurants. She also provided a lot of great information about Vietnamese cuisine which helped to understand what we were eating. Would highly recommend (and to come basically starving cuz you eat a LOT)
lovely experience with Tina. food was unique, interesting and delicious. Tina was always informative and v accommodating. Loved the bun cha, dried beef salad and egg coffee!!
Our adventure began as we jumped onto the back of a Vespa, weaving through Hanoi’s organised chaos toward our first food stop: Bún Chả. This iconic dish - rice noodles, smoky BBQ pork, fresh herbs and a sweet‑sour dipping sauce - was a flavour explosion. Our tour guide Kim, explained its origins, how locals eat it, and why it remains one of Hanoi’s most beloved meals. Next, we rode into the French Quarter, stopping at the elegant Hanoi Opera House. Kim shared stories of colonial architecture, political history and cultural transformation, all delivered with his signature humour. It was the perfect moment for photos and a deeper appreciation of the city’s layered past. Back on the Vespa, we cruised past the colourful Ceramic Road and over Chuong Duong Bridge to enjoy Bánh Xèo, the crispy Vietnamese pancake. Kim swapped this in after learning we had already tried other dishes earlier in the trip - her attention to detail made the experience feel personalised and thoughtful. A ride around West Lake followed, offering a romantic and rarely seen perspective of Hanoi. We then passed the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, stopping for night‑time photos while Kim shared stories of Ho Chi Minh’s life, leadership and legacy. His explanations were clear, engaging and surprisingly entertaining, making history feel alive. Finally, we arrived at a cosy egg coffee shop beside the railway tracks. As we sipped the rich, velvety drink, we watched a train thunder past just metres away - an unforgettable end to an incredible afternoon.
Apple was so cool, charming and had some wonderful information about the different food we tried. I had a great time.

We had a wonderful food tour with Tina as our guide. She was fun and knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting with excellent in site into the area and food. Also as a bonus was some explanation of some cultures and traditions. I would highly recommend her as a guide. The places she took us to were amazing and was great to try a variety of Vietnamese food. Call this a five star review. Cheers from Canada
Elena is a great guide, joined with my boyfriend for the walking food tour, 20usd per head you have 8 stops for authentic local snacks from egg coffee, buncha to ice cream, highly recommended!!
If you like food tour you must do it in Hanoi with Apple the best guide in town. You will eat Vietnamese classic, and not so classic stuff... You will also learn tips to navigate trough food street by yourself. And having a beer on train street is just the best final!. Don't hesitate for à second, we had à very good time !
We had a fantastic few hours with Apple tasting the culinary delights of Hanoi. We tried many things we would have walked past and learnt a lot about Hanoi as well. Highly recommended
We had a private street food and heritage tour for our family of 4. Our guide (Elena) was wonderful and took the stress out of navigating the busy streets of Hanoi. We had sooooo much good food! Would definitely recommend
Fantastic tour. Gave us the confidence to try street food. Diverse range of food with a wide range of flavours. Local fresh produce. Elena was a truely knowledgeable hostess who spoke great English. We can’t recommend this tour and Elana highly enough . If you want to try Hanoi street food. This is the one to do. Great value for money. Thank you very much. We really got to see the Old Quarter.
Elena did an amazing job - very informative, easy-going, fun to talk to! The food was very filling and was very tasty. Would do again
There was such a great variety of meals, desserts, and drinks in this tour. The places we went were very authentic and we would not have been able to find them without the tour. Elena, our guide, was amazing! She gave us great information about the food and culture during the tour. Highly recommend!
Apple took us on an AMAZING culinary tour and explained many different cooking styles. After having traveled through Northern and Central Vietnam, the tour gave us a much better understanding of the regional cooking differences and specialties, and how to eat them properly. Would recommend that visitors go on a tour early in the holidays, to feel more confident in ordering food during their travels.
Had a great tour with Apple the tour guide today. She was informative, funny and very kind. The tour is well organized and her knowledge about Hanoi is fantastic. Great experience and would highly recommend her and Hanoi Street Food Tour
Elena was our guide and while I enjoyed the tour immensely, there were some things I wouldn’t try again, but I do highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in doing something different. The food was unique in its simplicity and diversity. If you get the chance to visit Hanoi, do the tour because you won’t regret it.
Apple was fantastic very knowledgeable with the old quarter and the different foods she made a fun afternoon for us so full at the end lots of laughs and interesting insight to the old quarter. I lost my hat on the tour and Apple contacted us as she found it thanks Apple. I would highly recommend the tour and having Apple as your guide. A great afternoon out my husband loved the train street experience.
We had an amazing time with Apple! She is kind and has great stories from the Vietnames culture. The food were amazing! Would definately recommend.
We were a small group. The place was tricky to find but we eventually found it. We started with Happy Water which I believe was necessary for the food ahead. Though extremely tasty you had to be aware that the hygiene standards are not quite like in restaurants. Jennifer explained the cultural do's and dont's, showed us how to eat the food and drink the coffee to get the best experience. Our little group laughed so much as we shared the unique food experience. Jennifer was very patient which meant we missed the first train, but she left us in capable hands at the best little train street pub who took care of us and ensured we enjoyed the full train experience. We wished we booked this tour at the start as opposed to near the end.
We enjoyed our street food tour through the old quarter of Hanoi very much. Each food stop was delicious and informative. Visiting train street was a highlight. Or guide Apple was friendly and entertaining. Highly recommended.
Apple was amazing! Super informative and very sweet! I will 100% recommend anyone visiting to go on this tour. The food was amazing.
One of our favourite experiences of traveling so far! Apple was our guide today and we couldn’t have wished for better! She made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Her knowledge about the food, the area and Vietnam in general was exceptional. I l was so impressed we went to so many different locations (lots I’d never have gone to if it wasn’t for this tour) and had a huge variety of delicious dishes. She also wrote down for us to keep everything we tried today and the location of each restaurant and even some more suggestions of place to try some other dishes we mentioned. We had an exceptional amount of food and left with so much knowledge, this experience was more than just a food tour. Is definitely value for money. This tour was so good we recommend to our friends that are going tomorrow. Thank you so much again
My guide Apple was amazing, she taught me so much about Vietnam food culture and history of the city. 10/10 would book with her again.

This tour consisted of 8 different stops that showcased the wide variety of cuisine from the local Hanoi street food scene. What made this tour even better was the guide, Apple. She is incredibly knowledgeable on the history of the different foods you’ll try and will design the tour based on your personal preferences. If you book this tour, have Apple be your guide! She is the best!
amazing local dishes at every stop, love that we could experience and support family businesses. Elena is the tour guide to choose, she will explain the history of the food and the restaurant making the experience one of a kind.
Amazing selection of dishes to try. Lots of different flavours and a good amount of food. Loved trying things we wouldn’t otherwise have ordered off a menu, and going to restaurants we wouldn’t have gone to on our own. Even enjoyed the happy water! Eleanor our guide was lovely and very knowledgeable on all the food. 5* recommend to any foodie looking for something fun in Hanoi!
