Off The Beaten Track In Hanoi: Private City Tour

We spent a fabulous morning with Ruby exploring the markets and back streets of Hanoi. We saw & experienced Hanoi life first hand with Ruby. We had many laughs as we discussed and compared life in Vietnam vs Australia. Ruby's explanations were very informative and the pace was just right. I can highly recommend this tour and even more highly recommend that you take it with Huong. She is a true local and will give you genuine insights into her district of Nghia Tan - its history, culture and people. Huong can tailor her tour to your particular interests but I do recommend the old tea house, the tiger cages, pagoda and the market to be amongst the places you visit. I felt privileged to share a morning with such an extraordinary person. I am sure you will feel much the same way.

Sung is a wonderful guide. He gave us the most chilled out little tour of Hanoi. We strolled around and had a lovely relaxing afternoon. Learning all the way. Giang is energetic and friendly. She is very knowledgeable and can tell story about the food. The tour is very well organized so we could everything. You can't do it by your own.

Thanh is a super nice person and she is the best local guide i have ever had. She has incredibly good knowledge about coffee industry of Vietnam, local life, Vietnam Culture and many things. She explained everything very good and with every detail. We learnt many things about coffee and also we learnt lots of things about Vietnam daily lifestyle. Without her we wouldn t found that secret coffee places. Highly recommended!!

Thanh met at my Hotel and off we went for a few hours of brilliant conversation ( English ). Thanh is very Knowledgeable about Hà Nội in particular the History which I found fascinating. There was also plenty of coffee stops and little food places you wouldn't know existed. All in all a friendly and informative tour. Thank you Thanh.

Sung He was just amazing! Not only did he really know the area, but he also knew a lot about the history and its people. He brought us to secret places we never would have seen without him. Also he went the extra mile and helped us out with our ATM issues, he told us about grab (the app) and helped us get our local sim card started. He is an amazing guy and he created an unforgettable experience for us!

Sung is very knowledgeable of the place, has very good English communication skills, deep understanding of various cultures and takes you to wonderful, hidden places that you never suspected existed behind a maze of backalleys. With him I also tried a very good traditional dessert and learned quite a lot about the Vietnamese. Also the quick visit inside an apartment building and his detailed explanations about how everything works made this experience a valuable insight into having a better understanding of everything. My time was rather limited in Hanoi but I would gladly go again with him on a tour if I'd have the chance. P. S. Strolling through a very local market, seeing all the different fruits, vegetables, fish and what they are, how they are cooked was also top for me.

The tour was carried out by Hoa Le as Do Giang was not available. Hoa was a great guide. Great English, and on time. From the moment we met she was enthusiastic that we get the most out of this experience. Very knowledgeable about the tour route and the people living along it. Hoa took the time to explain in detail, what was happening and why, along the whole route. She was never rushed and obviously wanted us to see 'her' Hanoi. This was a great few hours and opened our eyes to the real Hanoi. Hoa also gave us great tips on local restaurants, which we used, which made our stay in Hanoi even more enjoyable. We did this tour with our local guide Sung. He was truly an excellent host. He was very knowledgable about the history of the area we were in and took us to places we would never have seen on our own. I couldn't recommend this enough. The tour starts in a local neighbourhood 20mins taxi from the centre and you get to see authentic markets and amazing quaint neighbourhoods.

Had a great time with Sung, he showed me many places I couldn't have visited by myself. He also shared local life and traditions. His knowledge of macro issues and his personality makes him a great host.

Thanh did an extraordinary job on the city tour of Hanoi. She took us to remote areas of the city and told us everything she knew about Vietnam, the people & their customs, every day life & culture & answered every question we had & more. Not only was she very well informed and spoke excellent English but her story is very impressive and she is such a smart and kind person ! We truly enjoyed every minute with her ! There is absolutely no better guide out there ! Shes also very generous with her time, we spent hours wandering through Hanoi with her. She shows you hidden corners & takes you to the REAL Hanoi. We booked this through Withlocals and chose Thanh as our preferred guide and had probably the most authentic experience in the whole of our 4 week trip through Southeast Asia. Thanh is an encyclopedia for Vietnam and Hanoi and will answer all the questions you may have had about the culture and the history of the country. She is very generous with her time (spent from 10am to 5pm with us) and has an excellent route planned out off the beaten track. Compared to what we paid in other cities and countries, comparatively very good value for money. Only warning- you will be exposed to the rough side of Hanoi, which we loved!
