Our guide was 5 stars, Hieu is a fantastic guide - very friendly and took us at a safe pace. He also timed us getting to train street in time to have a coffee and watch the train go by. I highly recommend him. The bikes alone make this 3 stars - they are falling apart. Our handle bars were detached and the bikes are very old. There is also no option for helmets - and Hanoi streets are very busy. We also did not get to see the mosaic mural along the red River which was in the description as one of the stops. Overall a good tour, but they need new bikes.

Itinerary
05:30 We will meet you at the meeting point in Hanoi Old Quarter to take bicycle. After short brief information about the biking route and manual introduction. We will start the trip to Ba Dinh square and join the Rising Flag Ceremony at the front of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
Then, we continue cycling above the Red River on Hanoi’s legendary Long Bien Bridge, built by the famous Eiffel construction company at the beginning of 20th century. We have short breaks at the bridge and standing in the middle of the bridge, you can see the banana and vegetable farmlands on Bai Giua Island of the Red River, which is the best place to take some extraordinary photo of the green fields and the working farmers. Enjoy and breathe fresh air in the sunrise. Moving on, we will go along "Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural along the Red River". It has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest pottery-decorated road in the world.
On the way back to Hanoi Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, you have a chance to do exercise and dance with locals beside a romantic lake. The last stop is the local market, which are also busiest in the morning so it’s the best time to experience all the hustle and bustle! At the end, sit down at a local good restaurant to enjoy Pho – a Vietnamese dish that is world famous. You get your mind refreshed by our Vietnamese traditional green tea.
You have a chance to enjoy special Hanoi egg coffee !!!! Woa, amazing!!!

Alex was a VERY GOOD and professional tourguide. I loved to cycle with him today and recommend to do so for everbody else :) Thanks a lot, Alex!
Magic bicycle trip with Alex. Great experience throughout day. We always feel safe and had some totally great time. We saw a lot of place, had some great breaks. And the bikes are fine.
Sam was a really knowledgeable and friendly guide. We covered quite a few locations in about 3-4 hours. The ride is not physically strenuous, but Vietnam's traffic is quite scary. And I'm from India, so that's saying some thing. The coffee and breakfast to round off the trip were also excellent.
Wow what can i say ? I did consider it a bit dangerous and took all the precautions and it was fun. pros : once in a life time experience lots of places you cannot see by day in hanoi like the train in train street the riverside the raise of the flag, flower market, banana island and lots of locals and the hustle and bustle of the morning. : great ride amongst the sbusy and dangerous streets of hanoi (until 8 its ok ) good guide and very good english cons : would have been safer if we had a light on the bike early morning. : a person at the back of the group is a must ( i got hit by a motorbike and nobody new until i reached the group who was taking photos
My husband and I did a morning bicycle tour of Hanoi city with BC Family on 26 October at 5:30 in the morning. Our guide was travel expert, Sam. Usually, they conduct this tour in a group of 5-6 people. But, we were lucky to get a personal tour of the city with Sam. While cycling, Sam also gave us useful information about the history and culture of people of Vietnam. In my opinion, cycling is the best way to see Hanoi especially to get a slice of the way of life of the people of Hanoi. The trip also included a meal of a warm bowl of pho and egg coffee. I would definitely recommend doing this cycling tour with the BC Family. Worth the value of money. They also helped us book our bus tickets to and fro Tam Coc and the taxi to the airport.
A tour that has to be done. Our guide was late so the HCMN flag rising had already started. If you are a slow cyclist you wouldn't have made it in time. Such an amazing experience in the Hanoi traffic but our guide did go off a bit too far ahead a few times. Loved the places we cycled to. A must DO
Early start but seems most of Hanoi are up by 5.30am anyway. Only just made it to HCMN flag raising as we were late being picked up, any slow cyclists would have missed it. Amazing experience cycling in the traffic as its chaos, "organised chaos" as it works. To cycle amongst it was amazing. Loved everywhere we went. Our guide went off going ahead too far a few times. Totally recommend this tour just to say you SURVIVED!
Le Xuan (Sam) was an excellent tour guide! He ensured I was safe, gave a good overview of the history of some of the sights we visited, and was very personable! It was also wonderful to get to know him on a personal level. Below are a few things one should take note of about the tour: 1. Expect to wake up early ... it's a morning bike tour after all! I was picked up at 5:30AM, but I went in knowing the start time. 2. You're going to sweat especially if you're nervous about having to bike through traffic on a narrow street when Hanoi starts to get busy (unless you don't sweat :) ) 3. There will be light traffic during the early hours, which making cycling through the city a unique experience. You'll be able to witness how the Vietnamese people get their exercise on during the early hours. 4. You'll stop a few times along the way to take in some of the sights, and Sam will likely snap a few shots of you. 5. You will get to experience the side of Hanoi that most people don't especially when Sam takes you to where some of the locals live.
My tour guide, Sam, was knowledgeable and friendly. Also he kept a good place and I never felt rushed. His family has several charity projects in Hanoi and he took me to areas I never would have seen on a regular tour. I was the only one on my tour, and that can be awkward, but Sam made it A very comfortable experience. We were able to customize it just for me - he took me to thenoodle place Obama and Bourdain wento and a beautiful Pagoda I wanted to see. I was so impressed that I signed up for a second tour the next day and will probably comeback to volunteer with his family's organization. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Seeing Hanoi waking up was a great experience! The guide Sam (Luong) was not rushing and giving enough time and info to wonder, understand and enjoy. I definitely got a better feeling about how people live in Vietnam (from morning sports over spiritual routines and, of course, food). Cycling was also a nice way to explore: much easier to move with the flow than trying to find a path as pedestrian (although it doesn't hurt if you have some cycling routine because the traffic will need all your attention). I also liked that the company supports community projects. The only thing that could be improved is to mention the rough pick-up time already in the tour description (05:30am!) and then inform participants one day in advance of the exact pick-up time. I had already spent some time in Hanoi and was looking for a tour that would give me a new perspective. Thanks to Sam, mission accomplished! Highly recommended!
BC Family Tour Review If you visit Hanoi, this bike tour is not to be missed. I chose the early morning (05:30) start time and definitely didn’t regret it. We met our host Sam who is a great guy, very friendly and knowledgable, he explained what we will do and where we we’re going. At first you may think the traffic and road system in Hanoi is crazy and disorderly, but after a few days you realise the ‘system’ is actually no system and everyone understands it. Road users all work with each other and are very careful despite it seeming like they are all over the place. This made the idea of cycling through the city a much less scary thought. Sam also made sure we were fine the whole way through and starting early gives you a chance to navigate the quiet streets before the morning rush begins. Sam knows the city like the back of his hand and is a great guide. We visited the famous Train Street first then headed over to a government building near Hoan Kiem lake to watch the morning ceremony at 6am. From there we went on to many other cool locations and met some locals fishing, dancing and working out (the Hanoi people are very active) before ending the trip at a local Pho place where we had the best noodle soup for breakfast and the famous Vietnamese egg coffee. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Hanoi and if you can wake up early definitely choose the 05:30 start time. Cycling the streets here is very enjoyable and I’d do it again if I ever came back. Thanks to Daisy, Sam and everyone at BC Family Tour :)
Eskimo was a wonderful guide. It was just me and him and we saw so much of the city and then over Long Bien bridge and below to the farmlands. Great to start so early. So pleased I booked this one. A great way to get a feel of the city on my second day here.
“Fantastic bike tour around Hanoi. Highly recommend this tour with Sam and Daisy as guides. Sam knows the city and its history very well. The places we went were special and not on the tourist route. The bike ride itself was easy and comfortable. It’s an early start but there are two amazing rewards at the end - breakfast at famous pho ga and egg ca fe, they are worth the effort. Thank you both for being super hosts and showing off Hanoi. Kia Ora Tee”
This biking tour is worthy to wake up at 5! Experienced guide will lead you in this old city and show the history and good food. Approved chicken pho in Hanoi!
My wife and I signed up for this tour through Airbnb, and Thomas was assigned as our tour guide. Thomas was extremely courteous, polite and very informative. Given that it was a hot day, he did not rush us at all and we did the tour at our pace. He also shared his life story and aspirations with us and it gave us a glimpse into the life of Vietnamese youth. Would highly recommend him. PS: He speaks fluent English and German.
My husband and I did the morning your with Thomas and loved it. It was a relaxing morning for us, where he adjusted the tour according to our pace, gave us frequent rest stops and answered all our questions. He was also kind enough to arrange vegetarian breakfast for me, since I do not eat non vegetarian food. Highly recommend him to anyone who wants to see the entire city in limited time.
I spent the most marvelous morning in Hanoi with Sam. He was punctual and welcoming. I wasn’t a skilled bike rider, especially not in Hanoi’s bustling streets. Sam made it really easy and fun to ride through the city and even took me to the small patch of farmland just outside of the old city. I had the best Pho in the city and drank egg coffee afterwards. It was truly a morning well spent and I highly recommend riding with Sam!
Thomas was great at showing the places. Group of 6 , all guest are well look after . Traffic seems scary but when you follow Thomas it’s very safe and follow the flow. Lots of great local information, and not too overwhelmed. Great tour , retro do it on your first day to get familiar with the area ! Over all great experience !!
Thomas was very helpful and guide us through the busy transport very well. He also cater to our needs and questions patiently too. However, the tour is a little rush but definitely understandable as we are carrying the bicycle and due to the busier transport in the afternoon.
Nice way to see Hanoi early in the morning before things get totally crazy! We saw a lot of sites and areas that I wouldn't not have otherwise been very likely to see on my own. I was also the only person who booked that day, so I got to have a private tour.
Best trip ever. I had a great morning around Hanoi. Ling - my tour guide is very helpful and supporting. I loved every moment of our trip. Thanks.
This was a wonderful experience! Linh was a fantastic guide who took me around the city and showed me different sites and markets around the city. This isn’t your typical touristy experience - and that’s what I wanted. Make sure you are comfortable riding a bike in traffic, as the traffic can get a bit busy, but otherwise not a challenging ride. Would definitely suggest this to others looking for an experience outside of the normal walking tours etc!
I never regret been on this tour. It is an eye opening experience to witness early birds in Hanoi up close and personal. we started the tour at 5.30am from Old Quarter. I'm truly satisfied with the activities and my guide is Sam. I'm no professional cyclist and you don't have to be one even riding on the busy streets in Hanoi. The last time I cycling was more than 5 years ago. Sam is really patient along our ride from Ba Dinh Square, Quang Ba Flower market to Old Quarter. This cycling tour is largely on tarmac paths along the city, and some quiet lake roads. The tour end with mouth watering pho and renowned egg coffee. I would definitely do this again if I'm coming to Hanoi again and recommend this tour to you.
It was the best 5:30am start of the day! When everyone sleeps including rest of the tourists :) and not traffic. My tour guide was Sam and I was lucky enough to be only one for this tour. We went to famous train line and it is great to see it and take pictures whilst no other people there, peaceful and quiet. I went back therelater as I wanted to experience train passing by and it was over packed with people. Also there was no train at 3pm so came back at 7:30pm and was over packed with people. I watched flag ceremony for Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and it is magical to see these things and again just us not many people around apart locals exercising in park before work. We went also to flower market. Nearly finish time but was worth it! We visited Red river and went onto Long Bien Bridge. That's some proper local experience. Sooooo many people on scooters rushing to work. For breakfast Pho Vietnam best chicken nuddel soup in Hanoi. Open only for 3h per day. It takes 8h to cook this amazing soup. Egg coffee to finish off tour. Sam was great. Very friendly and easy to talk to. Answered all my questions and gave me a lot of information about Hanoi and Vietnam. Also I took cooking class to learn secrets of that egg coffee. And Sam&Daisy been assisting me with rest of my travels throughout Vietnam. They can definitely meet your requirements. Just tell them what you like and what you want and it gets done. Highly recommend this tour company. Thank you! It was great experience.
Thomas was a great host - passionate and knowledgeable. It’s so interesting to see a city waking up. You ride through areas that you wouldn’t normally see as a tourist. 10/10
Hiep was the perfect host and provided both an interesting historical and cultural tour. The streets were empty when we set off at 530am and this was a beautiful time in Hanoi. We started at Uncle’s mausoleum for the flag raising ceremony and then headed to the cool lake followed by a visit to the flower market and then stopped for pho bo breakfast. Back on the bikes to cross between the lake again and stopped for photos of the pagoda and had ice cream. Then onto the murals and the Old Quarter for egg coffee. It was a real insight into Hanoian life and thoroughly recommended. A most excellent morning in Ha Noi !
We had an awesome time biking through Hanoi. In the early morning it isn’t too busy and easy to get around. There were some great stops, and our guide Eskimo was so kind and knowledgeable. So glad we did it!
Had a great time with three of my friends. We went all around the city. Highly recommend even if you’re hungover!
My wife and I had an amazing morning bicycle tour with Thomas. He picked us up at 5:30am and we rode the streets before sunrise through the Old Quarter, French Quarter and around the West Lake. We saw the flag raising ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and stopped just in time to see a train pass on the tracks between the buildings. We ended the tour with delicious egg coffee and pho for breakfast. Highly recommended!
I had an amazing tour this morning, zipping through the city streets of Hanoi as the sun was coming up. Even in the crazy traffic i felt safe. i learnt so much about Hanoi and discovered delicious food and coffee. Thomas is like your friend, not your tour guide. I definately recommend this tour!
This tour with Thomas was great. He was knowledgeable, friendly and patient (very important when attempting to navigate Traffic as a novice). I would highly recommend the tour, and specifically Thomas!!
We really recommend to make the bycicle trip in the morning in Hanoi with this agency!it’s well organized, secure and the perfect way to discover the local culture and food ( delicious local breakfast and wonderful egg coffee!!) thank you to our guide eskimo who speaks a really clear english and has a lot of cultural knowledges...see you for our next time in Hanoi!
Thomas was a really wonderful tour guide. Very enthusiastic and informative. Collected me from my hotel at 5.00am and suitable bicycle was provided. I was the only one so we adapted the itinerary to include some things I really wanted to see. Breakfast was included and I asked if we could swap Pho for Bahn mi, this was no problem. The best thing about this tour is that you get to ride a bike alongside the Hanoi busy roads and it was a really Authentic and fun experience! Thank you so much! When it rained, a rain cover was provided. I highly recommend this tour! Good value!
Wei met us at 530am at our hotel and we emerged into the warm drizzly semi light morning. The city was waking up, the bikes were like all Vietnamese bikes and we set off for our adventure. We cycled up to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and watched the soldiers raise the flag. We bikes round the West lake and Red River dodging scooters, cars and buses. We headed out to the flower market and Wei bought me beautiful purple flowers. Then we headed back on our circuit to have a traditional Vietnamese breakfast and visit the original cafe for egg coffee (which is actually delicious)! Heading back to our hotel at 8am and the roads are crazy now....glad we went out early! Wei was brilliant, had a degree in English translation and gave us great insights into both the city and the Vietnamese people. Don’t miss this! Brilliant
Fantastic tour of Hanoi. Our guide was amazing, super friendly and switched on and spoke really good English. He was very knowledgeable and the tour was well structured. The food was also excellent, some of the best we had in Vietnam. Would absolutely recommend to others though I would say that you need to be a pretty proficient cyclist as navigating through Hanoi by bicycle is not for the faint hearted!
Definitely not for kids and the faint-hearted! A certain level of confidence in cycling is required. Trung who was the guide for my tour is fluent in English and well-versed in the history of Vietnam. I would recommend this tour for explorers who want to experience how it is to travel like locals and feel the city come to life!

Yes, this is an early, early start, but so worth it. We had a great time and can say we successfully navigated Hanoi traffic like locals. This is a great way to experience everyday life in Hanoi. We had a great guide, although he never told us his name. We really enjoyed watching this city wake up -- the Flag raising at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, watching locals exercising, early morning visit to the Temple, best offerings at the Flower Market, local fare at the wet market, Pho for breakfast, and finished with an original Egg Coffee. All of this was accomplished in two and a half hours. We felt a little more like locals the rest of the day.

Fantastic feel for authentic Hanoi. Punctual hotel w meet up w snack n water. Bike was a bit old but comfortable and tough enough for all terrain encountered. Easy ride physically but will need to pick up Hanoi street ride habits as morning gets busy. Excellent guide of sights!!

Getting up early is worth it! You could gain an interesting cultural insight into the life of the inhabitants as well as the history of Vietnam through the tour and our guide Sam. Thank you Sam - many things we certainly would not have experienced otherwise during our visit.
They took us to local tracks that we wouldn’t be able to go to if we were traveling normally, and to some really good pho shops. It was a wonderful memory. It was a good exercise to sweat and ride a bike. It's early in the morning, but it's worth a visit.
Sam showed me around the building! It was a lot of fun. It was a great experience because they took us where we shouldn’t be!!! It's pretty hard, so I recommend it to those who are healthy!!! The Four who took me there were very good!!!
We were picked up on time at 5:15 a.m. Guide Thomas led us safely through traffic to the flag ceremony and the flower market. The drive over the oldest bridge in Indochina was fascinating and the bowl Pho for breakfast was unusual but delicious for us Europeans. Finally, an Eggcoffee. Then Thomas organized the taxi back to the hotel. A wonderful morning and a tour we would repeat anytime. Thank you Thomas!
Travelling by bike through Hanoi when you would actually still be sleeping.....it was worth it! Anh guided me very carefully through traffic, I never felt unsafe at all. We also made a breakfast stop and ate traditional pho, very rich. Later, there was a coffee break....Eggcoffee, you must have tried it! Overall an extremely enjoyable tour, thanks to Anh, he was a great tour guide!!
