Hanoi: 7 Tasting Street Food Walking Tour And Train Street

Delicious way to explore the city, and great for families too — our 6 year old had no trouble keeping up! Tried banh mi, bun cha, noodles, Vietnamese pancakes, and coconut mango ice cream at great local spots through the Old Quarter. Train Street was a highlight — the train passed right by, incredibly close to the houses and cafes lining the tracks. Friendly, knowledgeable guide, well-paced tour. Highly recommend for families and foodies alike!

We booked a private food tour (family of three, with a 9yr old). Our guide, Vy, was terrific. She based the whole tour on our tastes and pace, even adjusting in order to get to Train Street a bit early to ensure a great spot. Vy also helped us take some family photos and her explanations of the food and cuisine were perfect. We ended the tour feeling full and fulfilled! We highly recommend her!

We had a blast with our most excellent and fun guide. Minh!!! Every stop was a yummy new experience and the information he shared with us just added to experience. Even just the walking through old town with someone who knew where they were going and how to navigate through all the traffic was an adventure!! Train Street topped off the day!!! We had front row seats and our choice of coffee drinks to enjoy the fun of a close encounter with a Vietnamese train!! Great day! Don't miss the fun!

We had a great time doing this tour. It supposed to be a group tour but only mmmy wife and I showed up so we get kind a private. Tee was our guide, a super nice guy, we talked a lot. He took us in some nice spots to try the real street food and demonstrated strong knowledge and fun facts about the food and the culture. If you're looking for have a great time I recommend this tour!

My friend and I had the best experience with Chip! We loved being able to try all of the local spots & she was so knowledgeable, answering all of our questions. The tour never felt rushed, and there was so much variety! She was also very mindful of my friend’s allergies & shared some other spots that we were able to try over the next few days. It was a great way to see the city on our first night. Can’t recommend enough!

Amazing variety of food and sights and sounds. Minh was delightful and informative. We sampled such a wide variety of foods at local establishments we probably wouldn’t have brave enough to visit on our own. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour. Our guide was Emily and she was fantastic. She gave us a real insight into the food and how to eat it. She was so kind and helpful and gave us lots of other tips for during our stay. Would recommend that you do tour at beginning of stay so that you can then enjoy all the food in Hanoi with the knowledge from the tour. The food we tried was all delicious and plentiful amounts!

I just did this food tour in Hanoi with Minh and it was amazing from start to finish. I ended up being the only person so it turned into a private tour. Minh, who grew up in Hanoi, was personable, funny, and knew so much about the food and the city. We tried six incredible dishes, each one better than the last plus had a drink right by the train tracks, watching the train pass just inches from the table—such a cool, unforgettable moment. It felt like hanging out with a friend who just happens to know all the best hidden spots. I honestly can’t recommend it enough. If I’m ever back in Hanoi, I’m doing this tour again.

Guide was very busy on her phone for most of the tour dealing with work issues then had to deal with other clients so we were pretty disappointed with all that going on. Food experience was good but as a tour felt very flat.

Minh is a perfect guide, very knowledgeable about local specialties, we have had amazing walk for 3 hours in old center of Hanoi. We tried different varieties of local foods from starters throughout soups and sandwiches to sweets and desserts. Also train street was crazy experience! I will do this again with Minh, he was just perfect guide!

Mình was a great tour guide. He was very attentive and told us lots of facts about the food as well as the city and its history. He took us to some great food spots with a range of flavours. I was on my own and he took time to make me feel welcome and involved. Would recommend highly!

This was highly recommended by an English couple and said the food was top right. We decided to meet in the morning and do the 10 am tour. Don’t have breakfast before hand! We walked for three hours and just had the most delicious meals and so much information and wandering fabulous backstreets of the old quarter

Great intro into vietnamese cuisine, including must-try staples and delicious deserts. Does not include anything that would be too "challenging" for westerners. Minh, our guide, was very knowledgeable and he speaks excellent english! We were a group of 4 and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Thank you for this great experience!

Tee was a fabulous guide, very friendly and considerate. He gave us plenty of information on the foods we were trying and also Vietnamese customs. All the food was delicious and there was so much to eat. Tee got us the perfect spot in train street to watch the train go through. I would highly recommend Tee and this tour.

I did this food tour in Hanoi and absolutely loved it! We got to try a wide variety of traditional Vietnamese dishes, which was the perfect way to experience the local cuisine. The guide was super funny and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Minh was amazing! Very knowledgeable and pleasant! The food stops were amazing. There were 5 food stops that I could not tell you which was my favorite since everything was so good. We had a coffee by the train! Cool experience. One dessert and they were interesting but surprisingly delicious and refreshingly cool. Well worth the tour. Was 3.5 hours and not too much walking between.

Very tasty food tour of Hanoi. Our guide Sarah took us to 7 different spots including meals, snacks, dessert, and drinks. Our favorites were the banh xeo and bun cha, but everything was delicious. We ended the tour on train street and we're lucky enough to see the train pass through twice. Was a great tour to try many local dishes.

We had the best time on our tour with Khoi! We tried lots of great food, we both really liked the Bun Cha. He answered all our wide range of questions with care and no question was too much trouble. Would recommend to anyone!

This trip felt disorganized. The guide kept blaming it on Chinese New Year. We did get to try several dishes, but the places were dirty. We had a vegetarian on our tour and they told him he was eating just mushrooms. A version of the pork and mushrooms we were eating. After they had stated eating, he said I made a mistake. I found that inexcusably. I really wanted summer rolls and said something because that would be perfect for them as well! We even passed one, but he didn’t accommodate. He was a nice guy but didn’t meet our expectations.

Great food tour with Khoi. Introduced to us amazing Hanoi food which normally is not known or hard to find. Nice small restaurants with awesome food. Khoi explained a lot - also to general questions about Hanoi and Vietnam. The tour ends with a drink at the train street. Can fully recommend this tour. Top!

Excellent all around - well worth the hours of entertainment. Our guide, Andy, was essentially a tour guide. He chose high quality traditional street vendors for us to visit, and the food was wonderful. Many places were closed due to Tet, but we were warned about this in advance.

A great food tour! Minh took a good small group of us around to have 7 different tastings. He knew a lot about the food/Hanoi history. The tour also included a trip to the train street where we were able to try the infamous egg coffee and see the train pass. I would highly recommend this tour.
