Hanoi Vegan Food Tour

I had a wonderful time on this vegan walking tour with Lucky! He was fun, easygoing, and made the whole experience feel like strolling around the city with a friend. The food was delicious, and it was a great way to discover Hanoi’s vegan food scene in old town and learning about Vietnamese history, culture and cuisine. Highly recommend Lucky if you’re looking for a relaxed, authentic, and enjoyable experience!

Great experience our guide Mai was from the area and very knowledgeable about the city’s history and Vietnamese cuisine. Even though we’ve been to Vietnam before she still managed to suprice us with delicious food we never had before. We went for a vegan tour but the food options were always flexible. I would highly recommend this tour just a very nice way to experience Hanoi.

This tour is amazing! You go to places you would never find on your own and you fill up on some of the most delicious Vietnamese vegan food. Lucky is an outstanding guide. He knows all there is to know about the vegan food scene in Hanoi. And his English is better than mine and I’ve been speaking it over 60 years! We were able to throw in some markets and were able to sample fruits that just don’t exist in the USA. This was probably the best food tour that we have taken anywhere in the world. Very Highly recommend this tour!

Lucky was a fantastic tour guide. We did a split vegan/non-vegan tour and the food was fantastic. Lucky new all kinds of stats about Vietnam which enhanced the experience. Would highly recommend.

Our guide admitted she only took people on the vegan food tour as she noticed a niche in the market to exploit. Not a vegan or vegetarian herself she didn't quite understand the ethos. And appeared confused as to why be vegan. We were shown round the underbelly and bright lites of old town Hànoi and taken into some very traditional and meaty eateries to try there 'vegan'? Options. We didn't get sick and were taught how we should call Hanoi hello City, and Beep beep country is Vietnam. Which is like awesóme and that?

A highlight of our Vietnam trip!! My partner and I had Lucky as our tour guide and we were taken to places that we otherwise would have walked past as many were places filled with locals with menus in Vietnamese - this allowed us to have a true authentic experience. We visited 7 places in total all unique and delicious food. Lucky was charismatic and shared stories and history about Vietnam and even took some sweet photos of us, he was friendly and outgoing. We strategically booked it at the beginning of the trip so we knew local dishes to look out for ;) 10/10 recommend this vegan tour

Lucky was an excellent tour guide. He guided us through how to eat some unfamiliar and delicious foods. The tour was focused on what dishes we could eat at places that were not "vegan only" restaurants - which was really welcome and helpful for navigating what dishes we can usually eat and adapt! We had some excellent conversation including general knowledge about Hanoi. I'd recommend this to anyone.

I strongly recommend this tour - we tried lots of yummy vegan food and local beer, visited many cool, non-touristy places that we would probably never find on our own! Lucky is a great guide, very knowledgeable and super nice. Overall we had a wonderful time doing this tour:)

Really enjoyed our food tour with Lucky. He took us to about six different places with a great range of food including banh mi, pho salad, vegan crab noodle soup, coffee and dessert. It was clear he gave a lot of thought to each stop, and had backups ready in two cases where something was too crowded or closed - definitely included a few places we would not find on our own. I'd recommend to other vegans/vegetarians.

Our tour guide Minh was the best. He took us to little places only locals would be aware of! We all had a great time!

Such a great experience. We were so excited for today as especially as vegans we didn't know where to start to try and navigate the street food in Hanoi. But we got to try so many amazing dishes from many locations it was a great day. All the lovely food was just topped of by Minh our guide we had a laugh all day, navigating the crazy streets while finding the best vegan street food.

It was a good experience. Lucky is a very nice person and felt very comfortable with him. He told me about Vietnam history and also his personal experience, and that made the experience more interesting. The food was really tasty! I ate so much but he also didn’t push me to finish all of it when I was completely full. I managed to, somehow, always have room for a little bit more :)

Lucky was a great guide to the vegan street food of Hanoi! He was very informative and I learned about the history and culture of Vietnam as much as I did about the food. He was flexible around what I was interested in which was also great. Don't hesitate and, as others have said, do this at the start of your visit and benefit for the rest. He sent a list of places and some follow up tourist information that I had asked about.

We had Jenny as a guide who was really professional and made us feel very welcome, she took us to some hidden gems, thought us about Vietnam and some history and some food culture and also thought us some useful phrases. Afterwards we also got lots of useful tips of where to go

Minh's vegan food tour was so much fun. We had a fantastic time trying some truly delicious meals - from vegan Bun Cha to fried fish noodles - and so much more. We enjoyed getting to know more about Hanoi and Vietnamese culture with Minh, who also gave us lots of top tips on what to look out for to find the best foodie spots ourselves. We also received a wonderful email full of recommendations afterwards, including for cities we're going to next. Thank you Minh, and we'd thoroughly recommend this tour!

I had an amazing evening with my guide Lucky tasting delicious vegan food off the tourist track. Not only did I get to eat, I was given an insider view of life in Hanoi and tips on where to eat and how to order. As a solo traveller it was a great introduction to the food and a crash course on crossing the street. Lucky is an excellent guide! Highly recommend this tour at the start of your trip!!

Lucky was a super guide who gave us a lot of information about Vietnam and also about the different foods. Made it very pleasurable and walked us around to all the different places. Vegetarian was no problem at all and Lucky made sure we enjoyed some amazing Vietnamese cuisine.

Honestly the best tour I’ve been on this whole trip!! We had the pleasure of having both Lucky and Ming to take us around Hanoi to experience the vegan street food. All of the food we had was traditional Vietnamese style made vegan and is something that would not come up if you searched it on google or HappyCow. There was so much more vegan food on the street than we thought. Lucky had really good knowledge of the history of Hanoi whilst also being interested in getting to know you as the customer and Ming provided good vibes and laughs. Both guides were friendly, easy going and mindful of allergies/dietary preferences. If you are visiting Hanoi, I would highly recommend the Vegan street food tour by Ha Food tours, it truly is great value for money and making special memories.

Jenny was great. In addition to Vietnamese food, we learned more about Vietnamese culture and language. She would sit down at the table with us and answer our questions about her experience growing up in the Hanoi suburbs. And the food was ngon vâi (delicious)!

Lucky was a fantastic guide! He was able to accommodate 3 vegans and 2 carnivores with a variety of delicious food (also encouraged me to try the egg coffee and it’s amazing)! Lucky is super knowledgeable about Vietnam and its culture and history as well as current events. It was so fun talking to him for around 4 hour- felt like I learned a ton and laughed a bunch! I would totally do another tour with him if I make it to Hanoi. And do yourself a favor and try everything that he puts in front of you…TASTY!

My friend and I had an amazing time touring the French and Old Quarters with Lucky. We stopped at 7 places for a variety of vegan Vietnamese cuisine. Lucky was super communicative & accommodating (as were the places he took us) and didn’t even bat an eyelash at our request for a vegan tour. Every dish was delicious and we felt so fortunate to be able to visit more of the mom & pop shops vs the primarily vegan places we’d been frequenting (we would have been afraid to try some of the smaller spots that feature mainly meat on the menu on our own due to the language barrier & fear of accidentally consuming meat or fish sauce). Lucky was very personable, funny and is an excellent guide. He told us stories about life in Hanoi and was kind enough to share Vietnamese history and culture with us. It was a huge privilege to spend the time with him & benefit from his knowledge. Thank you so much, lucky. This was truly the highlight of our trip & we would happily take another tour with you in the future

Our guide, Lucky, was super cool and showed ours the food of the city. He didn’t only take us to restaurants, but also explained a bit of the history of the city, showed us hidden places and explained the food culture. They offer tours for vegan, which is super helpful if you’re vegan or vegetarian visiting the country

My husband and I had a great time exploring different eateries with Lucky. He took us to a variety of local restaurants and we enjoyed a diverse menu that included savory vegetarian pho, freshly steamed banh cuon, and an amazing dessert consisting of Kem xoài (Mango and Ice cream) and Bánh trôi tàu ( Rice balls and ginger soup dessert). Lucky is very passionate about sharing vietnamese cuisine culture, as well as vietnamise history in general. We would recommend this tour a 100%.

had such a lovely time with Minh!!! he’s a great conversationalist and a real expert, and was very happy to answer all our questions. and the food!!!! it was super duper tasty and for a vegan tour we really trusted that everything we ate was genuinely vegan which was very important to us. he was very flexible and all the food we ate was catered to taste and levels of fullness (and we were so full by the end)!!! also had great recommendations for other places to go around hanoi. 11/10 would recommend 🥰😊

We booked this tour straight away first thing after we landed in Vietnam. So glad we did! It was the perfect introduction. Lucky was very knowledgeable (and flexible when we had flight delays) and chose great food options. He explained so much about the food and how each item related to their culture, as well as a good bit of general Vietnamese history & culture. I would highly recommend this tour, and book it on your first day if you can. It was really awesome after a gruelling series of flights, to just be able to switch off & enjoy the experience as Lucky had done all the planning, we just needed to follow along. And then we were set up with inside knowledge for the rest of our trip.

We were recommended to take a street food tour, and it was the best decision! We did the tour on our last day in Hanoi, and we honestly wish we had done it sooner. Lucky gave us invaluable tips and tricks on how to identify the best vegan street food, giving us incredible insights into the local food scene. He answered all of our questions and ensured we had an amazing time throughout the tour. He was also very accommodating with special requests – thanks to him, I finally fulfilled my dream of trying Durian! I’m truly grateful for this wonderful experience, and it made me appreciate the Old Quarter of Hanoi even more. Highly recommend doing this tour early in your trip so you can apply his tips and tricks in the following days.

We LOVED this tour, our guide Lucky was amazing, so friendly and full of knowledge. The food was incredible and we would never have been able to discover this by ourselves.
