Nick was a great tour guide. He was very passionate and knowledgeable in showing us Vietnamese food and culture. It was great being able to go to places we would not have gone to ourselves. I would highly recommend.

We had a perfect evening with a lots of tasting. Minh our guide, was great and showed us places we never would have eating at. The food was delicious og I would always recommend Minh as a streetfood guide.

I booked the private tour super last minute and was a little nervous if it was too last minute but Viet confirmed immediately. It was my last night and I said I wanted to try local food, things that I wouldn’t know to try or find and he delivered! We tried a few places and he asked if I wanted to try more but I was too full haha!! I was really happy with the dishes! I had 6 different dishes across 5 stalls and a pit stop to have a beer too. Would highly recommend the private tour and Viet was a brilliant tour guide sharing more about authentic Vietnam culture people and helping me to remember how to say hello and thank you to the vendors. It was a great last night!!

Really nice experience and guide was really friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of good food in places that we would have never considered as they looked more for the locals than for tourist. The dry pho and steamed rolls were unreal and so was the egg coffee at the end of the tour! Would definitely recommend it!

We had a great trip around Hanoi with Nick, trying a bunch of different local foods - all of them in places you’d otherwise walk right past. Each stop includes some information about the history or background of the dish, and the portion sizes are customised based on how hungry (or full) you feel. A great way to get a good lunch and try things you’d otherwise never get to experience.

Linh was so knowledgeable about all the foods she showed me and super passionate about sharing the cultural and historical significance of each local dish we tried. The places she took me made me feel just like a local on my last night in Hanoi, and for that, I’m infinitely grateful. She even went out of her way to accommodate some special culinary requests from some friend-suggested Vietnamese foods as well as foods that I mentioned were my favorite. And besides the food, she is absolutely amazing company. I completely lost track of time talking to her about Vietnam, the food, the culture, and her background. 10/10 would do it again… and probably will next time I’m in Hanoi. Thanks for an awesome experience, Linh, you’re the best! :)

My wife and I booked a food tour for day 1 of our visit to Hanoi. We find a food tour is an excellent way to get familiar with the neighborhood we are in a little bit of local culture and of course the food that is available. This time around we chose a private walking tour and we booked it through Viator. Our guides name was Chi and she was excellent. She met us at our hotel where she briefed us on how the tour was going to unfold and a few tips to help with the experience. Not only did she deliver on the food experience she was also engaging and clearly prepared with topics of conversation that kept the evening rolling along at the perfect pace. Here is a list of the food that Chi introduced us to. •⁠ ⁠Pho mix with chicken and soy sauce Pho Ga •⁠ ⁠Steam rice paper with egg Banh Trung •⁠ ⁠BBQ PORK (street vendor) •⁠ ⁠Noodle with meat ball and pork belly (Bun Cha) •⁠ ⁠Dip with fish sauce • Bánh mì roast Duck • Mango sticky rice and ice cream • Lemon tea I would definitely recommend Chi as a guide if you have the opportunity. We had an amazing food tour in Hanoi with a guide named Chi. She took us to truly local places where we tasted authentic traditional food. Chi explained every dish in detail, from what it contains to how it’s prepared and the cultural background behind it. She was very sweet, friendly, and helpful, always happy to answer any questions we had. Thanks to her, the experience felt very personal and welcoming, almost like being shown around by a local friend. I highly recommend Chi specifically for a food tour in Hanoi. She will definitely make you feel at home.

This was an excellent tour, best done in your initial days in Hanoi. Thank you so much to our guide who was so upbeat and connected very well with us and understood our needs. The food was fantastic and we went to unique spots that we would not have gone on our own.

The full food experience was great, we tried a lot of authentic local dishes, every piece was excellent and we enjoyed every single one (we also loved the beer in the end). Our guide took a great care of us and also gave us many recommendations about Hanoi and some other cities.

Host was very friendly and showed us around the old quarter on Tet holiday. Took us to places that I personally would not have thought to visit and definitely got the local experience. We ended the trip with a full belly and smiles on our faces. Would recommend!

Luke scored top marks with us for an entertaining romp into back alley hidden gems and to those in plain sight through the old quarter. Good humour and a deep appreciation for the food he loves to share was the key, all of it tailored to our taste for some standard dishes and some new discoveries. This is such a great way to find your feet once you arrive in Hanoi. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

We had a great night exploring Hanoi’s old quarter with Tom. The experience was a mix of street food and local restaurants. Tom introduced us to a range of traditional Vietnamese food, many of which became our favourites during our time in Hanoi (Bún chả was a revelation). Tom also sent us a list of recommendations after the tour. Highly recommend this tour to any newcomer in Hanoi as an introduction to the city’s food offerings and as a way to explore the old quarter at night with an experienced local.

Our guide Linh was amazing. She made us discover some great local street food specialties wile bringing us to eat in some hidden gems street restaurants that we would have definitely not found ourselves. Linh was also very kind and took the time to explain every detail of the dishes and other culinary peculiarities of Vietnam.

Thoroughly enjoyed our private food tour with Sandy, she is a great host, friendly knowledgeable and very easy to chat too. We had a great evening, Sandy did a great job tailoring choice of dishes for our individual tastes. Would highly recommend Sandy.

The tour operator is Ha Food Tours and I booked the tour through Viator. The tour started at 11 am when Luke, the foodie, picked me up personally from my hotel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. We walked to meet a couple from the US and a young lady from Australia. The very first stop on the tour got all my taste buds going when we tasted a freshly squeezed sugar cane refreshing drink. Luke introduced us to half a dozen more local delicacies in restaurants I would never have known about or found them alone. It was a magnificent experience and Luke, who celebrates his 27th birthday today, displayed a remarkable knowledge of the food industry in Vietnam. This was a great tour and experience overall that included a number of great eats. Locations would not have easily been found or stumbled upon if it were not for the guided experience. Our guide Minh (Dominic) did a great job of exposing us to a number of traditional dishes and explaining the production and way of eating each. Definitely recommended.

Minh was great! We would highly recommend this tour. From the moment he greeted us with a smile he catered to our every need. We got to sample 8 to 10 different dishes. All off the beaten track and totally delish. Don't miss the Bun Cha or the fresh pomegranate juice! This was a hight of our time in Hanoi.

The private food tour was amazing!!! Max was so friendly, fun and knowledgeable! He took us to some great local spots, explained how to properly eat certain dishes, had a lot of interesting info about every location. He also gave us tons of useful tips on things to do and not to do while in Vietnam. All the restaurants he took us to we would’ve never tried by ourselves and all the foods were absolutely delicious! 10/10 would recommend him to all my friends!

Tom was an excellent guide. He was prompt (in fact early) and attentive. He made sure to check our dietary preferences before the tour. The first stop where we had summer rolls was our favourite. Great lesson on how to roll our own rolls. The crispy rice paper, crunchy vegetables and succulent meat roll paired perfectly with the sweet peanut porridge gravy. Such a good choice. We enjoyed the mix of political history and food history that peppered the tour, giving us a richer understanding of Vietnam's food culture. Tom was affable, easy-going and knowledgeable. Wending through the alleyways and backstreets of the Old Quarter, he gave us a taste of Hanoi in every sense of the word. The after service was also excellent. He gave us a list of places we could explore on our own and recommendations that we will surely try out. Highly recommended. And if possible, ask for Tom to be your guide.

Coming from a tired western traveller- Max gave us an experience that we will never forget. Max took us on such as adventure of food and culture that we got to experience Hanoi from a locals eyes. our tour guide minh do was the best tour guide we could have had. very friendly, kind and ready to solve all our questions about the culture of the people. the impressive thing besides the food was that he took us to some "secret" places that as a tourist you will never discover, I highly recommend it....

A perfect start to our trip. We arrived in the morning and organised this food tour with our hotel as a way for us to get taste for the food and explore the area. Our guide was Minh and he was fantastic. He arrived on time, his English was great and we had a good laugh with him trying all the different places. He was also really open to answering my questions about the culture and history of Vietnam as a whole along with the questions around the cuisine. I can’t recommend the tour and Minh enough if you’re looking to explore the area and get a taste for several different dishes.

We had a great time with Long exploring the streets of Hanoi and getting to taste traditional food, like a local would. Highly recommend this being on your bucket list for Hanoi. And if you get Long, you will finish the tour with a new good friend!

This was an excellent food tour that gave you plenty of different foods to try. We did this tour on our first morning in Hanoi and it was a great way to see what we liked and what we didn’t. Long is very friendly and always watch out for our safety Food is good but the pomegranate juice is best so is the coconut and egg coffee,not forgetting the home brew beer.He wants us to take our time to taste the food and give our comments. Very accommodative, when we stopper to buy something which caught our eyes . Good to have him around as help us to not let food go to waste as food ordered are too much for us though the portion has been reduced already. An unforgettable experience. It was three hours of fellowship as if we were old friends, tasting some of the most delicious dishes of Vietnamese cuisine. Long was fantastic!!!

Our guide Long gave us a long tour through the streets & food culture of Hanoi. We ate delicious food at hidden spots we wouldn't have found ourselves. Long introduced us to authentic food and gave us a lot of interesting background information. He treated us as friends, not customers.

You cannot fault Minh! He was a 10/10 tour guide and we felt very lucky to have him take us on our food tour. He was extremely accomodating to me being vegan and my partners nut and sesame allergy. We thought a food tour would be too hard for us, however Minh showed that it was possible. We got to go to many local spots that we would otherwise not of gone to and taste food that we could trust would be okay with our diets. With Minh as a guide it was like walking around with a celebrity. We felt welcomed into his culture and appreciated all the history he shared with us. We highly recommend this tour!! Ps. Ask for Minh if you can!
