Darcy took really good care of us during our fabulous food walking tour. She brought us to great places that we would not have been able to find ourselves. As it was a private tour, she could really cater to our taste and appetite. Would recommend.
Albert was the most fun and knowledgeable guide I had on this tour. Great energy, we ate at a lot of good hidden gems. She was thorough and asked me questions to better understand and curate the tour for me. Definitely recommending her and this trip to anyone who would want to experience Northern cuisine. She even got me sweets on her own.
Had a great time eating Vietnamese food and exploring the streets of Hanoi! Arthur our guide was super friendly and insightful

Had a great guidance with Arthur for half day hanoi walking tour. He smart, attentive and great hospitality skills. Toured us to significant and historical hanoi temple, places and great local coffee shop with a nice view of old quarter and hoan kiem lake. Lastly, we observed Arthur as great young visionary man.

My Hanoi walking tour with Darcy was an absolute highlight of my trip. Her extensive knowledge, insightful guidance, and genuine passion for the city made for an enriching and memorable experience. I left the tour feeling not only like I had seen the major landmarks but also like I had gained a deeper understanding of Hanoi's soul. If you're planning a trip to Hanoi and are looking for an authentic and engaging way to explore the city, I wholeheartedly recommend booking a walking tour. And if you have the opportunity, I highly suggest seeking out Darcy as your guide.
The tour was great! Such a brilliant way to explore the Old Town in Hanoi and our Tour Guide Camille was friendly, energetic and loved sharing her proud history of both the city and her country. Would highly recommend other to enjoy the experience.
Serene was a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly guide. I highly recommend this tour. She was also very flexible and accommodated our schedules
It was a Hanoi Old Quarter Private Walking Tour for 3hours. We had a wonderful time around Old Quarter Hanoi with amazing beautiful Guide Darcy. Minus the hot 34°, Darcy explained to us the history in detail. Sadly we had to part ways due to tour ended.
The tour was very informative and nice — we really enjoyed it. Our guide, Phương Anh, was fantastic! Thanks to her, we learned so much and had a wonderful day.
Nice tour with Kelly. She knows a lot about Hanoi history and has many stories and fun facts to tell. She brought me to a very nice coffee place with a view Cafe Phố Cổ and the restaurant Bun Cha Dac Kim to eat delicious bun cha.
Tracey was a great leader of our food tour. She had great knowledge and excellent communication skills. We visited a number of very different restaurants and had great news food experiences.
Ana our guide was great. Very pleasant person, knowledgeable. Good conversation, we really enjoyed our tour. Thanks to Ana.
My sister and I had the pleasure of having Selena (Nguyen) as our tour guide who did a wonderful job of explaining to us the history behind the old quarter and other things about the city. We tried egg coffee together and had a great time!
The guide was very kind and gave me detailed explanations, which was great. I was able to enjoy the wonderful images of Vietnam during the walking tour. I would like to do it again next time.
Tom was very knowledgeable and informative. Excellent tour guide. If you come to Hanoi you must take a free walking tour and ask for Tom.
Doris is very kind! She brings us to various food places as well as dessert. When I told her I already eat certain food and want to try something else, she adjusts the plans to our needs. The places she brings us to is affordable as well as tasty.
LE TRUNG IS SOOOO PATIENT AND SO NICE AS IN HE HELPED ME TAKE SO MUCH AMAZING PHOTOS and kindly answered all the history and cultural questions I had! He took me EVERYWHERE I wanted to go and he was full of smiles and never looked tired even though I asked to take like 1000 photos LE TRUNG IS SO PROFESSIONAL AND SWEET and he’s the PERFECT GUIDE IN ALL OF HANOI VIETNAM 10/10!!!!
Our guide Doris was delightful! She organized a personalized tour based on our food preferences, showed us key landmarks in the city and taught us about the culture of Vietnam. She was patient, fun and went beyond the allotted 3 hours so we would get the full experience including an up close view of the train on train street. Highly recommend her and this company any time you visit Hanoi.
Our tour guide was Galvin and he was very good and knew lots of details. Would definitely recommend going on that tour it was such a nice experience!
Jaenie and Anna are fantastic and friendly guides! Learnt more abt the old quarters and they are engaging during their explanations. Good job to the 2 young girls :)
Camille was an amazing Street food to a host! She was very kind and sweet and we loved our time walking the streets of Hanoi and try lots of different local foods! She also took us to train Street for a drink and watch the train come through which was another exciting experience for us! We highly recommend Camille - she is lovely!!
Galvin has been an amazing tour guide for us!! We have loved walking the streets of Hanoi with him. He's very sweet and really informative. He took us to an amazing local coffee shop at the end of our tour and the coconut coffee was sensational!!! Thankyou Galvin.
Our tour guide Galvin was excellent. Very knowledgeable, very friendly and made our tour very enjoyable. Would highly recommend a tour with Galvin.
Albert took us three old friends on a night to remember. 4 different restaurants to share a variety of the local cuisines, the history and cultural customs. Excellent local knowledge, great food , interesting conversations
Albert took 3 of us on a fabulous tour of several of her favorite eating places. I was initially nervous, as I have coeliac disease and can't tolerate gluten. Albert was very well prepared. Although she hadn't cone across gluten-intolerance before, she researched the issue, found suitable restaurants, checked my needs and spoke to restaurants in advance. On top of this she was amusing, well-informed, warm-hearted, open to listening and new ideas, well-organised and a clear communicator. We learned a lot about food, Hanoi, Albert's life and local customs and laughed a lot.
5-Star Review: We had an amazing experience with our food tour guide! She was young, lively, and incredibly open-hearted, making the whole evening so much fun. The variety of food we tried was both delicious and unique—each stop felt carefully chosen. What impressed us most was her dedication; one of our group members was gluten-free, and even though she hadn’t encountered that before, she did thorough research to ensure they could enjoy the experience just as much as the rest of us. Her enthusiasm and warmth made this tour unforgettable. Highly recommend!
I did two tours with Hanoi Free Walking Tours. Initially there was a bit of confusion as to who was leading what tour and there was some back and forth, but it was cleared up. But the confirmation email I received wasn't communicated clearly to the two guides. Also, you should know these are individual, private tours. So if you book alone, it will just be you and the guide. I didn't quite understand that when I booked. I initially thought it was a group tour, but it was fine. Also, you have to pay for the guide's entry fees to any of the sites you go. For the Ho Chi Minh Complex and Temple of Literature tour, Serene was really great!! She was extremely friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. I asked lots of questions and she always had an answer. She took me around both sites and explained everything. She always had a smile on her face and she knew her history. She was curious, kind, and friendly. She was even nice enough to give me a ride back to my hotel. The Temple of Literature is absolutely stunning. It's a bit farther away than the other sites and I originally wasn't going to go, but I'm so glad I did. Definitely a highlight not to be missed. I also did the French and Old Quarter walking tour with Camille. Camille was also very knowledgeable and friendly. I would have liked a bit more flexibility to explore some sites I had on my list since this was a 1-on-1 tour, but I understand why there were certain sites we had to hit. We also did make a few extra stops along the way to see things that interested us. We had delicious egg coffee and Camille gave me some great food recommendations!
Hannah was very knowledgeable, had a great personality and answered all our questions. We had a great time and would recommend this experience.
We loved our tour with Fiore through the streets of Old town in Hanoi. She was such a sweet young girl who took us to an authentic old house a lovely walk around the lake, a couple of temples and finished off at a secret hidden away coffee shop. We learnt so much from Fiore about so many interesting topics, we learnt so many things about a typical Vietnam family and even taught her some Aussie slang which she found very funny. Thank you so much Fiore and we wish you all the very best for you and your family.
Arthur was great! I got to try really interesting food. I never would’ve tried otherwise. And he is a lot of fun to talk with. So the food was great, but the highlight was getting to talk to and hear about the life of a 20 year-old college student in Hanoi.
We did the half day private walking tour 2 times. On the first tour we went to Hoa Lo Prison and walked around the French Quarter. Our guide Camille was very kind and learned us a little about the history of the prison and the area we walked through. She also brought us to a small restaurant to try some typical Vietnamese fried snacks, it was delicious! The second tour was led by Chris. Since it was my husband’s birthday I asked him an unusual question, but he was so kind to help me out. He helped me surprise my husband with a birthday cake. Chris bought the most delicious chocolate cake and even brought us to a cute hidden cafe in the old Quarter to enjoy the cake. All in all two super interesting tours with two very kind tour guides!
We had a wonderful experience with Chi who showed us a few temples around the city explaining us the stories behind them and the legends of the Vietnamese tradition. The walk around the city was an enlightening experience which allowed us to discover some narrow streets and an old traditional house. Chi was really friendly and told us a lot about Hanoi and Vietnam in general, allowing us to try new food and discover some "hidden" restaurants. At the end we would absolutely recommend both the tour and also Chi as a guide.
Our guide Camille was a perfect guide, so friendly and talented, and she took us to places in Hanoi old quarter that we would never have found by ourselves. We learned about Vietnamese ancient history and also the buddhist religion by visiting a beautiful temple. She also joined us to the famous Street train which was a thrilled experIence.
Ashley was a great guide, we learned a lot about the history of Hanoi but also about Vietnamese traditions, legends and she gave us tips for lunch and where to see train street 🙂
The tour was great, our guide Aurora was very lovely and communicative , she took us to the local food places with a delicious dishes. Also told us a lot about vietnamese culture and tradition. Highly recommend 🫶🏻
Hannah is absolutely awesome !! We had an excellent time on our walking tour. She was very friendly, informative and had a great communicator! We enjoyed the trip and she also took a lot of beautiful photos for us! Thanks Hannah :)
Great day with Camille exploring old town Hanoi! She could bring us around and get to know more about this fantastic city! Highly recommended!
We enjoyed a fun Old Quarter tour with Arthur. He has a great personality and is very outgoing. He was very patient and helpful with our 8-year old grandson.
Our guide who goes by English name “Pepper” has been very helpful in explaining many stories behind interesting historic sites. Pepper has excellent communication skills and we wish him all the best in his university education
Doris from Hanoi Free Walking tours, was amazing! Very sweet, kind and thoughtful and taught us so much. She took us around the old quarter and shared information not only about the area but about Vietnamese culture as a whole.
