We had a food tour with Rose our first night out in Hanoi! She was so incredibly informative and sweet! Such a great way to start our Vietnam trip! She had so many great tips and knew everything :) absolutely recommended!
Kiara gave us a wonderful night tasting delicious Vietnamese foods, imparting some cool history related to the dishes we tried and teaching us how to negotiate a fair price at the night market. She even made we sure we got back to our hotel safely. We highly recommend this tour but be sure to arrive hungry; so you have room for all the samples.
Good food good guide overal good exerience nothing to complian
The Hanoi night market offers an excellent selection of street food and souvenirs at very reasonable prices. Travellers are advised to be cautious of the “blue light scam.” In our case, a taxi displaying a Grab sign was in fact a private operator. Upon reaching our hotel, the driver switched on a blue interior light, which distorted the appearance of currency notes, and attempted to substitute our VND 500,000 note with his VND 50,000 note, claiming he did not have sufficient change. The issue was resolved only after firmly challenging the driver and threatening to contact the police. ⚠️ Always verify the authenticity of ride-hailing vehicles and carefully check cash transactions. Beware of the “blue light scam” ‼️
This is such a wonderful tour experience! Kira our guide for the evening shared so much on local customs and culture, and flexed the tour stops to our interests and tastes. Each food stop was better than the last with delicious local delicacies we would have missed out on if we had just walked by ourselves. This is a must do in Hà Nội… and ask for Kira, she’s the best!!!
Great food tour with V! Very good food and local vibes! We tried all popular local dishes and the amazing egg coffee. Loved it
I had a great time on this tour! Long is a wonderful guide, the food was amazing and I really enjoyed the night market. Long texted me when he arrived at the hotel, reviewed the itinerary, and then we headed out. He explained a lot about the food, described the ingredients and at one stop showed me how to roll everything up into the rice paper. I bought a few souvenirs at the night market, and he bargained for me to get the best prices. As a solo traveler it was wonderful to have a guide so that I could make the best use of my time in Hanoi. It was really interesting talking with Long about living in Hanoi and family life in Vietnam and the US. On the way back to the hotel I wanted to pick up a couple of things and even though the tour had officially ended he helped me find what I needed.
Sarah was an amazing guide, so many good advices ! She shared a lot of her knowledge about Vietnam, and brought us to the best places in town to eat delicious traditional Vietnamese food ! 10/10
The amazing food together with the amazing tour guide Nick and Dan had made our day! Both were extremely friendly and had good knowledge! We definitely enjoyed it too much with them as our tour guides! We came here on the last day but should have come the moment you reach Hanoi as they able to give amazing recommendations!! Thanks Nick and Dan!!
I enjoyed the streetfood tour and learn a lot about the history of vietnam’s streetfood. I get to know new friend. Nick our tour guide is very welcoming and friendly
Very busy market with all sorts of food and clothing. Very small walkways with alot of stall holders.
Omg!!! Vietnam is so beautiful and if not more the people of Vietnam are equally amazing! Most times you book a tour guide and get a person doing his / her job! But when you have a tour guide here expect making friends. I contacted Daphny for a tour and she treated me like a friend. Although I was traveling solo I never felt alone because she kept checking on me all through. Lots of love for Daphny and Vietnam xx
The tour guide herself was wonderful, unfortunately we did not get what we paid for. I realize now that the Crossing Vietnam did not have enough interest for the food tour plus the night market ($30) so the tour agency put us with another couple who just paid for the food tour ($23.) Instead of telling us oh well we can only offer you the food tour and refunded the difference, the agency collected the extra money and just did not provide the complete tour. We should have realized this when the guide and the other couple looked very confused when we talked about visiting the night market. In addition, the couple had no interest in the night market. We were also torn, as the buses stop running at 9:30pm and had we been jerks about insisting on the night market, the guide would have had to taken a Grab which I was afraid may have eaten up her tip. We had a wonderful guide with excellent English skills. It is not her fault that her Crossing Vietnam is not honest in its dealings. It must be difficult for Viator to make sure that its subcontractors live up to the descriptions of the tours.
We tried new food and new places and our nice guide Paul told a lot about Vietnam and the culture. We can recommend this trip.
Dan was our tour guide and he was very good, he was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny, we had a great time with Dan! I highly recommend.
Amazing food tour. Experienced the unique delights of Hanoi. Dan is a passionate and knowledgeable foodie and tour guide. You will not go hungry. A must do!
Dan was an awesome tour guide. Very informative and fun. Would highly recommend. Tried some awesome dishes that we would have never discovered on our own.
It was well paced, informative and fun. Tour guide, Dan, was attentive and caring, making sure that all our needs are catered for. He is helpful too. Recommendations for the food were really good and interesting. Will definitely recommend it.
I think the overall tour was really great that I couldn't pick a part of the tour that was the best. Every stop we made make sense and of course we were not just eating food, but we also understood how the food was made and its origin. Our guide Dan is really friendly and accomodates everyone, he even looks out for our food restrictions and does not forget it.
Totally awesome foodie experience in Hanoi for my and my frens! We were there only for a short getaway and wanted to experience the best of Hanoi street food. Our guides Tina and Sarah made sure we were well taken care of and also help us to bargain at the night market. Truly an unforgettable experience! A must do in Hanoi!
Thank you very much Dan! He was fantastic and we enjoyed all the foods. Very friendly and looked after us with the traffic:))
Great food recommendations! Dan was friendly and gave us a good explanation of the various food. We had 3 main course, 1 dessert and 1 egg coffee. They were all delicious. He also shared several more recommendations for us to try during our stay in Hanoi.
Our guide Dan was amazing in showing us around Hanoi and all the food stalls. He was super friendly and knowledgeable and took us to so many places we would never have gone to otherwise. Super delicious! Thank you Dan
This tour was amazing! Dan was indeed the man! He took use to local places that we would have never found otherwise. He made the group really fun and explained the food so well for us to eat. Honestly, highly recommend and he was even nice enough to recommend other places to go outside the tour. The food was absolutely delicioussssss. My fave was the pillow cake and iced egg coffee too.
We had a blast with Dan! He is very knowledgeable of the history of Hanoi cuisine. He took us to places where we will have difficulty finding ourselves. We highly recommend doing the tour with Dan
Dan was a really great tour guide! He also went over and beyond by telling us very interesting stories about the stores we went to. Highly recommended!
Mei was our guide for this tour. She took time to talk us through each restaurant and each piece of food carefully. She was knowledgeable and answered our questions well. We really enjoyed chatting to Mei and experiencing new foods in addition to exploring Hanoi. It was only the two of us on the tour, which was great as we got a very personalised service but we would have preferred more of a sociable occasion and to meet new people. I would highly highly recommend this tour for anyone who is up for trying new things, seeing the city in a different light and eating new dishes. Make sure you go to the tour hungry as they was a LOT of food!
Dan was a wonderful guide! Very personable, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very good too! There was so much food… we couldn’t finish everything and was able to even take home some. 100% recommend!!
Really nice tour, with some great local food taste. Do not eat too much before the tour because you will get enough! Dan also gave some nice background information about some of the food stores and traditions.
We had a great evening with Jamie and Dan who took us to all their favorite local places. The evening started with a delicious patè banh mi and ended with egg coffee. The highlight for me was the pillow cake. The culinary experience was rich and unique! They also pointed out other places we can go to during our stay in Hanoi. Highly recommended at the start of your trip!
Dan and Chau were out guides for this tour. Had a great time with them! They provided interesting information tidbits and the food recommendations were scrumptious.
Great food tour with Dan and Chau. He showed us many nice places that we would otherwise not have found. The food was very tasty and really interesting to try al the local street foods.
We absolutely loved the tour! Especially our guide Lucas was the best. He was so sweet, patient and very encouraging. He navigated very well and took us the best of places where we had some amazing food! He even helped us bargain with the shopkeepers. The experience was truly beautiful. Thank you!
Wanted to check out more local authentic food and was truly a great decision. Phoenix, our tour guide was great in telling us more about the specialities of the food & culture along with local insights. Will recommend to anyone looking for a Hanoi food experience!
Had a great time tasting all kinds of local foods with Loc. He is a very nice, funny tour guide who shares a lot about Vietnamese culture. The food was delicious as well!
This food tour exceeded my expectations! We visited over 5 different shops, trying different noodle soup and snacks throughout the night. Jenny and Quyen were very insightful as well, informing us of history here and there. This tour will fill you up! Definitely recommend this tour!
Highly recommended - Tommy, an amazing, cheerful tour guide! He is the best tour guide i have ever met. He bring us to visit different local restaurants and taste fantastic street food. He also explain the history of vietnam to us. Excellent!!!
Our tour guide Hana is a nice, sweet and passionate girl and speaks English very well. She took us cross the streets to find her privately suggested food and they're all delicious. She controls each portions so you won't get too full but enough. I suggest that you could remember all the location of each restaurant so that you can come back by yourself.
When it comes to The Street Food Tour in Hanoi with Rose...WOW is all I have to say, BUT for so many reasons. After having a terrible dinner the night before, I booked this food tour very last minute at my hotel (literally a few hours prior) and was not sure what to expect. I had been traveling South East Asia for two months already at that point with a lot of food tours being hit or misses so to speak, but Rose’s tour was the best of them all. She brought our group to the most authentic places all around the Hanoi Old Quarter that I would have NEVER been able to find on my own. From Pho, to baguettes, to Egg Coffee (with several other amazing stops in between) she taught us about not only the food, but interesting facts about the city and country of Vietnam itself. I left the tour not only food and culture happy, but knowing much much more about the place I was visiting than I knew when it started. If you have a night in Hanoi, Rose’s street food tour is a MUST for all the foodies out there. Not only will you get to tour the most beautiful part of the city with an incredibly personable guide, but you will try Vietnamese cuisine the way it was meant to be tried.
Our tour guide (Claudia) was a intelligent, witty, and so much fun to be around. This tour was amazing, the food was top notch, and Claudia was very knowledgeable about Hanoi and the history around old quarter. I honestly cant say enough good things here; would very highly recommend this tour and Claudia!

Belle and Alice from Crossing Vietnam, gave us a superb evening of street food dining in this amazing city. The food was wonderful. The two girls were considerate and had plenty of information to share with the 4 of us on this walking tour. It is not too long 2 of us are in late 60s to walk, and ends in the Night Markets.

This tour was great due to the lovely guide called Belle. Belle navigated us through the streets of Hanoi and introduced us to some places to eat that we would not have considered on our own. Belle is a lovely person and her English language skills are fantastic- I did feel that we'd actually made a new friend rather than she was just our guide. However, both my husband and I felt that we could have managed to see the Night Markets independently and we did feel slightly rushed around. This tour is perfect for anyone who wants to see the Night Markets and wants the extra reassurance of a local guide.

Awesome tour. You def go into restaurants you'd never think twice about. They're hidden gems that are a must for an authentic experience. It was absolutely worth it!

Multiple things contributed to a Two star Rating , and let me share them with some perspective .

First and Foremost, it is simply a Street food tour. The night market is just an add on, and if you plan to shop, or get a sense of the marketplace in Hanoi, then this is not the trip. Anyway the night market, is also nothing to write home about. Just cheap and low quality trinkets and souvenirs.

The tour itinerary has to be more transparent. It is walking tour , hotel pick up is on foot, and only if your hotel is within the old quarters. I got an email from the local vendor, only a day prior to the tour, that I had to meet them at their office, as my hotel is to far off for a hotel pick up. If one is not checking emails or does not have data connection, I would have easily missed the tour. It would help if the tour would specify the distance for hotel pick up

Also, It was my first time in the city and with a young child. I definitely did not feel comfortable taking a taxi in the evening and late night, not because Hanoi is not safe, I think it is , but simply it is not easy to navigate around . Locals hardly speak English, no Directions in English and just that much difficult to get by. So having chosen, what I thought was a guided tour from the start, turned out very differently.
In the actual tour , sampling street food is the highlight. The guide had already pre selected the places , and recommended the food. This is quite convenient, as anyway the tourist would not know. The food was good and well recommended, like Fresh Spring rolls, Savory filled Doughnuts, Vietnamese noodles, followed by local deserts like Sticky rice in ginger sauce and fruits in condensed milk and ice.
The problem were the eateries selected. They were very small, almost hole in the wall eateries. They were very messy , with tissues and food lying around, and I was concerned about hygiene and cooking conditions all the time. While I was not looking for fine dining, it is after all street food, but one would require a bit more standard places. I could not risk the water, and prefered only well cooked food.

There were no standard sitting arrangements , just tiny stools and a higher stool for table, and electric wires run over your head. The places are quite run down, and whatever be the local charm and flavour, does not give any comfort.

On a Viator tour, I definitely expect good standards and quality, as we book for families and children.

On the positive side, out tour guide Hannah was friendly, and accommodated requests. This is definitely not a tour for vegetarians , vegans or other such special dietary requirements. It is truly off the street food , which is best enjoyed if you take away and sit in the comfort of your hotel room, or by the lake in Hanoi.

So no, I would not recommend this tour .

If you have a short time in Hanoi, just wander about lake, look into shops that stay open till late night, and eat from standard places, which are many.

Fantastic tour. Hannah our guide was terrific and so much fun....plus HEAPS of great food. High recommend.

This was probably our most favorite tour out of them all. Ellie picked us up at our hotel which was way out of the old quarter in a lovely comfortable vehicle. She took us to the coolest places to taste local cuisine and beer. We had a chance to see parts of the city we didnt know existed and to get amazing food from places we could never have found on our own. Our guide was awesome in helping us make better purchases in the night market place and all in all we ate and laughed and walked and shopped and had the best time ever. I would highly recommend anyone going to Hanoi to do this tour. I would also make sure you ask for Ellie or Rose if you want the best of the best taking you around Hanoi.....

Hanoi nightmarket was like a city street in summer Sweden. Plastic, smoking snack bars, knickknacks, children playing, howling mopeds and trolling guests. I don’t know what I expected but you have to like shopping and crowds to appreciate this. Nothing for yours truly though:)
Very noisy, very crowded. The market is divided by a long driveway into two parts where rabid moped riders ride. We came specifically for fruit to take home, wandered the streets of the market for an hour and never found it. Just a slice or just a little bit and one kind of fruit sold. Lots of cafes, bars and street food. All the people are going to hang out at Knight Market this weekend.
Alex A super great food tour right at the beginning of our Vietnam holiday. Alex our tourguite was just great he told us something about every dish.We ate well and learned a lot.The tour I can only recommend with Alex
