Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, & the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. By dusk, Hanoi's streets come alive with the clattering of pans and rise of steam as tasty food bubbles and boils in Vietnam's Northern culinary powerhouse. We'll venture outside the Old Quarter, starting at St. Joseph's cathedral, where we'll soon find closely-guarded family recipes for iconic dishes, biting into fluffy banh mi baguette, and slurping on a drool-worthy beef pho noodle soup - all washed down with a freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. Discover why Michelin gave the city a food reputation to boast about, from sizzling bánh xèo pancakes and grilled bun cha pork patties, to wok-fried eel cake and crunchy crab spring rolls. Toss your fork over shredded nom bò papaya salad with beef, served alongside translucent tapioca dumplings.
All before a traditional bia hoi joint thats been around for decades. Locally brewed beer clinks over garlicky morning glory and tofu drizzled with scallion oil. Amongst more surprises, there's 15+ tastings in all, you'll need an extra notch on your belt by the time we're done with our foodie marathon. Our sweet dessert at the end takes us finally back to the cathedral, dazzling in illuminations by night. This was my third time going on a chefs tour (other 2 were in Bangkok) and I loved it so much. Tùng was absolutely lovely and answered all our questions food related or not! We were a really small group of 3 which was so fun because we really got go talk, and the food of course was absolutely amazing. I was so full at the end - definitely pace yourself to be able to try everything. Thank you so much!
Experience was well worth the money, we went to so many places and the guide Tùng was so friendly and knew all the local history and best places to eat 🙌 I joined as a solo traveller and met some lovely people as well. The communication was great and the navigation around the old quarter was easy. In the four hours we spent I felt we covered so much of Hanoi and its cuisine I would 1000% recommend for your first time in the city it gives you so much insight! The places we went to were so interesting to learn about, you wouldn’t have known they were so special as a tourist alone❤️

Took this tour with Tom, an excellent knowledgeable and fun guide. Its a really good way to understand the range of food in Hanoi, and venture into many places as a tourist you wouldn't often have the confidence to try yourself (at least in your early days in the city). Its also a great way to see the old quarter. The food was amazing, really great variety - and lots of it! Would recommend 'a chef's tour' and Tom too!

We absolutely loved our food tour with Tung. We were treated to a cherry-picked collection of the very best in Hanoi’s street food. The four hour tour flowed effortlessly from one place with its delicious dish to another. We’ve had a lot of street food since and nothing has quite matched up to the food we ate. Highlights for us were the catfish and the eel. Tung is excellent company, good fun and knowledgeable. We’d highly recommend the tour. Just make sure to skip lunch beforehand!

An absolutely fantastic tour. We knew from the first stop that this was going to be great! After a seamless pick up in a cafe near the cathedral we were whisked around the Old Quarter on an incredible dining experience. We were taken down alleyways to restaurants in front rooms, to Michelin recommended street food, desserts, coffees and everything in between. We left absolutely stuffed and very happy. Kevin, our guide was amazing he gave every dish it's context and stopped to explain interesting tidbits of Hanoian life and culture. Overall a 10/10 evening.

Title: A fantastic food experience in Hanoi! We really enjoyed our food tour in Hanoi! Our guide was very kind and welcoming, and the whole experience was a wonderful introduction to Vietnamese street food. We tried so many different dishes — honestly, almost too much food! 😂 Everything was interesting to discover, but our absolute favourites were the bún chả, the green papaya salad and the tropical fruit dessert. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to explore authentic local flavours and discover different aspects of Vietnamese cuisine. A lovely experience that we would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Hanoi!

This food tour was incredible, we managed to try just about every local food in some incredible spots only locals would go. It included the popular classics like bahn mi and pho but also surprised us with some local favourites too! Our guide brought us all over the old quarter and took care of ordering and introducing each dish with its own little background and local lore. Tom was fun ti listen to and gave us some good laughs as well, highly recommend if you want to get the true culinary experience.
Very good experience with Tom! 16 food/drink items is an insane amount and its impossible to walk away feeling hungry. Tom our guide did a great job of explain the history of Hanoi and the good and I enjoyed his sense of humour. Book this, you won't regret it!

There was lots of walking between courses which could be shortened (as it’s very hot for Western tourists) to improve an already excellent tour. The food was fantastic. Highly recommend!!
We had a great afternoon walking around the old Town of Hanoi with Tom. His knowledge of the food and history of Vietnam and more specifically Hanoi gave us more insight in 4 hours than our previous two days in Hanoi! Our Tourguide Tom was super nice and took great care of us. He did very well in explaining all the special parts and the history behind the Vietnamese dishes he showed us. Additionally he provided explainations about the part of the city we walked through, which we enjoyed a lot. We would recommend taking the tour with him.

We did a Chef’s Tour in Bangkok and had such a wonderful time that when we arrived in Hanoi, we wanted to book another. We booked very last minute and the company accommodated us. Since it was during a holiday week, we ended up with what amounted to a private tour. Our tour guide, Tom, is a Hanoi local and took us all over the Old Quarter for Vietnamese and local classics. We tried several things we’d not yet tried, and he mixed in a lot of history and local lore. I would recommend his tour again 10/10.

Tom was a great tour guide and we tried truly very many street foods that I would not have been brave enough to try on my own. The pho was great, the banh mi was great. I was not expecting the freshwater eel to be so good. The number of courses was 15 😅 and for our group of 7 we really only needed one serving of each item at most places but at least the leftovers went to other people 💕 He was very good at explaining all the history of the city too as we went around the Old Quarter. There’s no limit of good food in this city, this is a great way to do the classic street food stalls in Old Quarter.
We had a wonderful extended walking tour that taught us so much about Vietnamese food and ingredients. Our guide “Tom” was enthusiastic and informative and we left full and happy.

Excellent experience. Tom was fantastic. There is plenty of food . There are several Michelin star mentions places visited during the tour. Tom explained so well the food and traditional way to eat it.
