Hanoi Countryside Motorbike Tour: Red River Culture & Daily Life

Louis and Mike were amazing! We booked a scooter tour—we felt completely safe, saw beautiful sights we never would have discovered on our own, and learned so much about the outskirts of Hanoi. The trip was worth every penny; they even thoughtfully provided drinks and delicious food to wrap up the journey. My husband and I did the half-day Hanoi Vespa Tour, and what an incredible experience it was! Travelling through the bustling streets of Hanoi and then heading out into the peaceful backroads and beautiful country side was absolutely amazing. It was such a fantastic way to experience a different side of Hanoi and see how the locals live. Oggy and Ken were both fantastic! Oggy was an excellent tour guide, extremely friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything along the way, making the experience even more enjoyable. We really appreciated the effort they both put into making our afternoon so much fun and truly memorable. This was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Hanoi! Incredible experience. Traveling through vietnam on a motorbike really makes you feel integrated with the local population. Traveling through the bustling city streets then to the back road farm land was such an awesome experience. The guide teaches you all kinds of history of vietnam. Best experience ever! Oggy, my guide, was very knowledgeable and an amazing motorbike driver. What a thrill to weave through Hanoi rush hour traffic heading to the countryside. Busy main streets led to off-road tracks in the midst of farmland and fresh air. From there, we made our way to Bat Trang Pottery Village and had a go at some clay! We finished back in Hanoi with a delicious Buncha and take away many great memories.

We loved our half day tour of the countryside with John (Doanh) & Dong. We felt safe on the back of the bikes, and loved getting out of Hanoi city and in to the countryside. John was a great tour guide, full of knowledge and explained lots about the Vietnamese way of life. We visited a few local sites ending with a lunch at a locals house which we thoroughly enjoyed! Highly recommend this

Augie and Dong we’re wonderful. We were transported of Vespas. We went for a wonderful traditional lunch in the country. Grandma prepared spinach soup, eggplant, tofu, rice, and the best egg rolls we ever had. We went to shrines and Augie explained stories about the original capital 300 bc. we drove through countryside rice and lotus fields. Saw how the traditional families live and went to their market where we saw and Augie explained all of the authentic fruits, meats, fish, frogs, and even dog meat for sale. It was an amazing day! Thank you Augie and Dong!

We took this tour after taking a few tours in Hanoi and it was so refreshing. We visited Hanoi with our teenage daughters and this was by far their favorite tour. Our guide Oggy was the best. So easy going, funny and knowledgeable. He knew how to adapt the information to be interesting for the kids and we got to see a total different side of Hanoi. A more peaceful and green one with real life going as it is.

Tuna was an amazing tour guide. We got to do so many things on this tour and got a beautiful experience of the countryside. It was so fun and we got to spend so much time on the bikes. We did so much in just a couple hours and our guide made conversation with us the whole time and I loved speaking with him. This is well worth the price and the meal at the end was so yummy and they accommodated super well for my vegan and vegetarian friends!

Tuna was amazing, as were both other drivers Andy and Long. This tour is super unique and allows you to see both the city and country side of Hanoi while on a motorcycle! Highly recommended.

We did the snake tour on the vintage bikes, , was such a unique experience eating snake. We also saw the government house, local markets and an awesome, super cute cafe (hidden Gem). Our tour guide (Tuna) was so knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend

We did the tour of the ceramic village with the guides and driver Tuna and Snow. Was fantastic, my mom and I loved it. Was nice to get out of central Hanoi, esp the old quarter and get some more insight on other facets of Vietnamese industries. Got to see both modern ceramic production (stunning stuff) and an ancient set up. Both tuna and snow spoke fantastic English and were good drivers. Super open, knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. Thank you so much again - was a highlight so far

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough! We learned so much from our guide Huy - he has so much knowledge about Vietnamese culture and history - and he’s so much fun to spend the day with! We rode outside of Hanoi through neighboring villages, saw small farms, a local market selling beautiful fruits, vegetables, and live fish! We ended with lunch in the house of a local friend of Huy’s - it was so delicious! We can’t wait to come back to Vietnam and do this tour again. It is a must do during your time in Hanoi.

As motorcyclists, we really enjoyed this tour and marvelled at our riders/ guides Huy and Dong's ability to safely navigate the chaos of Hanoi's streets. It was so lovely to get out into the countryside and see how farmers live. We had the most amazing lunch and then a beautiful rest stop by a lake in the afternoon. We would thoroughly recommend this tour!

This was a great experience and our lead guide was very informative. His English was very good. We felt safe with both drivers. The food was good. We would recommend this tour.

For those who want a non-touristy tour, this was really different. My tour guide was John, a young fellow who's able to communicate quite well in English. Upon meeting him, it was like meeting up with an old friend from highschool; he's very friendly and will take care of you whilst keep your interests in mind if you tell him. The ride on a Vespa through the back alleys of Hanoi is completely different from riding through the bustling, busy roads of Hanoi. You catch a glimpse of the daily energy that isn't present in the city centre. Our first stop was at a cafe in the suburbs where a lovely grandmother cooks up a homemade lunch, great for those who are curious what the locals might actually eat on the daily as opposed to what you get in restaurants and street food. After having a good chat and lunch, John took me for a ride through some agricultural fields. It was nice to see how close the agricultural fields were to town actually, as you wave and interact with the locals who are busy tending to their fields. The last stop was a temple (I won't say too much so as not to spoil it for anyone), where John tells you a mix of legendary stories and archaeological-backed findings that gives you an insight into just how far back Vietnam's history goes. After the temple visit, we headed back to the meeting point to conclude the tour. In my opinion, this was a really nice tour, it gave me a sense of not just Vietnam's tradition, but also a sense of the Vietnamese spirit.
