Located in Hanoi's Old Quarter area, Ma May Street is unique as it is home to many of the city’s oldest houses. The house at No.87 Ma May Street (Hoan Kiem District) is one of 14 ancient houses in Hanoi built in the late 19th century that still retains its original features and becomes a familiar address for those who want to learn about the daily life of Hanoians in the old time.
In the tradition of Lenin, Stalin and Mao, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum is a monumental marble edifice. Contrary to his desire for a simple cremation, the mausoleum was constructed from materials gathered from all over Vietnam between 1973 and 1975. We will pass by the Mausoleum, stop for 10 minutes to take photos and listen to the heroic history of Ho Chi Minh President.
Tran Quoc Pagoda is more than 1500 years old, which means the place holds such an important role in the development of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular. That is the main reason why the temple attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.
Located in the center of the capital of Vietnam, well-known as one of the most inhumane prisons with terrified punishment, Hoa Lo Prison, aka Maison Centrale, is a symbol of strong will of prisoners and their sacrifice for their communist ideals.
Hanoi train street used to be one of the most renowned tourist destinations in the capital. It is a tiny, winding street tucked away in one of Hanoi’s back streets, surrounded by tightly clustered, tall, narrow houses. The train travels by the backyards of these families a couple times each day. We will enjoy a cup of coffee while waiting for the train to pass by.

Andrew was such a great guide ! Knowledgeable of all the sites , kind , helpful , and fun! Encouraged us to ask questions and took us to train street, what a great treat! Helped with family photos! Definitely would recommend ! :)
The trip is well planned. Andrew our tour guide made sure we got all the experiences and photos to treasure. It is raining on the day of our tour but he planned the timing well. Good shots and good company. You can request him when booking. 5stars!
Was a great tour with really amazing food and a lovely tour guide - Quinn - loved it! The Hanoi train was a great experience.
The guides are knowledgeable and attentive. We had a good walk around old town, with several stops at various eating places. They added anecdotes along the way. We couldn’t have done this by ourselves. The tour ended with prime location at train street and the guides made sure we had som bottle caps to place on the rails.
Phuc was amazing. He brought us to the various places of interest and shared its history too. We had a very interesting half day tour and the best of the trip was to the train street. We managed to see the train without waiting long and also had a nice cup of coffee while the train arrive. Thank you Phuc. You definitely gave us a great experience in Hanoi.
A good way to start a trip is to know a place by its food. Lily, the tour guide, was such a pleasant company while we eat really good Vietnamese food. Bun cha, dry pho, banh mi and, of course, vietnamese coffee were all so good! Had a great time with Lily/Mai ling
highly recommend Tyle , the professional guide he is very nice and well prepared, help to take many photos and so instagrammable~ XD the tour is easy and comfortable, bus is very nice, suitable for a group of family!
Mike was a great tour guide .. personable, knowledgable and so polite and pleasant. Great to get a local's perspective.
Tommy was super professional and I had a great time! Highly knowledgeable and a lot of fun to speak to and be around. I’d highly recommend this tour and these operators in the future!
Po was very informative and friendly throughout our half day tour of Ha Noi. He was open to questions and was sure that we understood everything he was telling us. He also made sure to ask our opinions on how we wanted our tour to go. He was willing to be our photographer as well as his other duties. he also informed us prior to our tour of important info needed for our tour so we were properly prepared for the day. Our driver Mr. V navigated us expertly, had water for us, had the air conditioning going whenever we were back in the car (which was very important as it’s summer and very hot). Don’t hesitate to book with this company and ask for Po!
Hannah was our guide for the evening and she was extremely friendly and fun! She introduced us to the variety of Vietnamese cuisine and gave us a memorable evening. The Train street tour tops the list! Thanks much!
Nick was a very informative, friendly, and funny tour guide. He brought us to hole in the wall spots we wouldn’t have found and we ate GOOD. Necessary activity for those staying in Hanoi.
You learn about the culture by eating their food. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞. The identity, rituals, beliefs, values and lifestyle are all spoken by the food they eat. 🥖🍛🥙🥗🥢🥬 Few days ago, we went to see the Miss Saigon show. Right then and there, we booked a flight on a whim. So here we are, eating our way in Old Quarter, Hanoi. Shout out to our adept tour guide Mai Linh Nguyen from Crossing Vietnam Tours. 5/5 👍👍👍👍👍. Mai Linh a.k.a. Lily is fluent in english, informative and very accommodating. Definitely would recommend her. The Train Street was one for the books. Weird, exciting and exhilirating experience!
Ok nice trip. Nice experience with motorbike riding despite the chaos of traffic inside city of Hanoi. Food tasting like bann , pho & soft coffee also add some point. I thought egg coffee is the signature coffee for Vietnam. But soft coffee added another level. Not too sweet and not too bitter. At the end it taste a bit of salty. This give it another distinguished point.
This was perfect day with our tour guide and driver. We get at lot of interesting information and perfect lovely service throughout the day. We walked to Pagoda by feet (don't underestimate the crazy stairs). Downwards have we choosen the cable car 😅. Thank you very much for this wonderful experience 🙏
Our guide FiFi is a friendly and knowledgeable guide. We have elderly parents with us and she patiently arrange it such that we have ample rest places for them. The pagodas are beautiful and she explain in great detail all the history behind them. She even taught us how to take photogenic shots in the pagoda. Highly recommended!
Our guide Andy did an amazing job. The weather was quite challenging (windy and wet) and Andy took the time to ensure the entire group was safe and comfortable.
We have great experienced when visited parfune pagoda. The tour guide explain very nicely and we could understand about the history
This tour was amazing! Thank you Ruby for everything! We loved the experience of visiting the Pagoda with great explanations of itself and of Vietnam in general! Very beautiful landscape and good food !
It has been a very pleasant day with Trang na (Nana)! She was so professional and the food was awesome! Totally loved the tour!
It was a very nice trip! Trang na(Nana) showed us a lot and informed us so much! She was very funny and I was happy to join her!
Very good Peter and Trang. From start to finish this tour was an absolute pleasure. Loved it. Would reccomend,
It was a great one day trip to Perfume Pagoda! It takes only 1 hour 30 minutes to the entrance from Hanoi Old Quarters. The admin staff, Ms Trang is very helpful with the confirmation of package tour! Apart from the trip, she also helped us to navigate around Old Quarters such as recommending us a supermarket. The tour guide, Guang is fluent in english and also talented with beatboxing! He kept us entertained while on the bus ride to Perfume Pagoda. Thank you to the two of them!
I booked through Klook.com, which is a great resource for so many things when travelling. I was picked up in a nice van at my hotel, and after picking up 3 more people, we headed out of Hanoi towards Perfume Pagoda. The tour guide was very good and explained everything along the way. The drive is 2 hours to get there with a short rest stop half way. The drive back can be longer due to traffic, with the same rest stop half way. Check the weather to see what to wear, bring sunglasses, bug spray, sun screen. You will take a small rowboat that takes one hour to get to the area. Its a pretty ride, but not comfortable sitting on a metal bench for an hour. You then get a decent lunch with fish, chicken, pork, eggs, rice, fruit. After that, you take a cable car for 100,000 VND up the mountain to the Pagoda. You can then walk back down or take the cable car again. We went in the off season, so it was very quiet and most of the vendors were closed and making preparations for the busy season which is February/March.
First of all, the travel agent Nguyen Ngoc Ha was very helpful and friendly. :) My Vietnam trip was coming to an end and I only had a few days left in Hanoi. Ha suggested that I take the Full Day Tour to Perfume Pagoda and I wasn't disappointed. The drive to perfume pagoda was only a few hours, but our tour guide (handsome and charming guy) was very welcoming, knowledgeable and spoke very good English! The boat journey was so beautiful and peaceful. It was raining a bit, but luckily our boat had a roof. Exploring the cave was very interesting. The Tour guide made sure we learned its history. If you don't have a lot of time in Hanoi, I'd suggest you go on a 1day or 2 day tour. Book with Crossing Vietnam - Day Tours. You'll get good service and a great time :) Outlanderly - Travel Blogger Instragram @outlanderly

This tour was bad. The guide did not care about our experience. The cave and temple are very peaceful, beautiful, and interesting. However the food options are limited and we spent the majority of time in a car, at a humanity center, or in a very small boat with an unpleasant guide.

First off, there was no pagoda, so you might consider striking that from the title of the trip. It was a grotto, a cave, deep in the mountainous jungles outside of Hanoi. It's where Vietnamese go to pray for babies. What the description of this trip does not tell you are the following:

- a two hour ride on a large one-lane road where you see instant death and then, big swerve, it's been avoided again. As chaotic a ride as I have ever taken. 4 hours of that 2 there, 2 back does something to you. The one hour ride on a sampan was great, as tranquil as the car ride was hectic. Also not stated in the description is that even the cable car ride is still a good 15-20 minute walk up a very steep hill. One of my family had gotten hurt the week before the trip and she had great difficulty navigating even this. So beware.

The grotto itself dates back to the 5th century is pretty darn cool, but was it worth the 6 hours of traveling to get there and back? We're still debating.

By far the best thing about this trip, and which actually saved it for us, was our guide, Anna. she was bright, cheery and a fountain of information about ancient and modern Vietnamese history, pop culture, Hanoi eateries, and just about everything in between. She was just so pleasant to be around, and my 19 year old daughter and her seemed to have a really good time together. Good on you, Anna! Well done!

Our tour guide Anna was amazing. She was our guide the day before for the1/2 Day Hanoi tour so we were fortunate that coincidentally she was our guide for the Perfume Pagoda She is knowledgeable about the destinations and easy to understand and passionate about her job.

Great day. The Perfume Pagoda was very impressive. Since we went during Tet Festival time, when many Vietnamese make a pilgrimage here, it was very crowded. We were about the only non Asians so were quite the celebrities, but everyone was nice and yelling hello to us. Our guide, Frank, was very knowledgable, not only about what we were seeing, but about Vietnam, Vietnamese culture, and even world politics and economics as they relatd to and impacted Vietnam.

This was an awesome tour and a great company to work with. Rose picked us up at the hotel bright and early. She made sure we had everything we needed and took us in a lovely air con van to where we needed to pick up the boat. The ride is about 2.5 hours and it goes very fast learning about her country and the places you drive thru. Once we arrived our row boat picked us up and took us on a 45 minute ride up the river to the Pagoda's . The water is like glass and the scenery is breathtaking . It was raining a bit so our guide made sure we had a covered boat to make our trip extremely pleasant. Once we arrive Rose took us thru each step giving amazing historical information and sharing old tales and myths aside of explaining the religion. We had a wonderful lunch between pagodas and honestly there was too much food you didnt know what to try first. Our guide really made the tour very special for us and I would highly recommend anyone going to the Perfume Pagoda to book with Rose if you want a real once in a life time experience.

We had a really nice day with Mike and Lele. 2 young enthusiastic men who have told us a lot about Vietnamese history and culture. Really had a great day. Thanks guys!
