Everything with the tour was good, and the sites you see are beautiful! Phong was a good guide; he explained information about Ha Long Bay and Hanoi, and was always clear about logistics (like where we were going and how long it would take to get there). The lunch and snacks provided were delicious. Some of the logistics were unclear from the Viator listing and could have been communicated a little better ahead of time, but the organizers respond very quickly on Whatsapp to all of the questions I had so this wasn’t a problem.

I met the guide, Tom, at the marina when the bus group arrived. No issues with Tom or the staff on the boat. The food was decent and there were nice activities throughout the afternoon. It is so sad watching black waste water pouring out of all of the boats and into the bay, probably full of engine oil and who knows what else. The water in the bay is dark and murky from all of the pollutants, including the swimming area where we stopped. Humans are killing the planet, unfortunately. The trip itself was nice and the mountains were beautiful.
We had a great day! Phong was a fantastic tour guide. The food on board the boat was nice, and the boat was really comfortable! Would recommend!
The trip was very good and everything was planned very well. Also our tour guide KEN was very professional and told us everything at best level also he was very friendly with everyone
Decent vegetarian food and our guide Phong was friendly and interesting. It's a good tour for budget travellers who are looking to explore Ha Long Bay in a fun and intense way. Also great for meeting new people. The views were misty, but the activities more than made up for it.
This excursion surpassed our expectations! First, we were impressed with the lunch on our boat ride. We expected sandwiches but, instead, got a 7-8 course lunch including several salads, grilled fish, soup, chicken stir fry and more…so yummy! The caves were impressive, kayaking into the bay was beautiful, and the 400 steps up to the lookout was a must-see! Our 71 year old friend was reluctant to climb the steps but was so glad that he did! We highly recommend this Halong Bay tour!
The views were lovely. The cruise was nice but I wish there were more seats on the upper deck for everyone. It was also hard to understand the tour guide’s English.
The cruise itself was great – the boat was nice and clean, the lunch was plentiful (there were a lot of seafood options like shrimp, squid, clams), but there was also chicken, white fish, rice, salad, fruit etc. I believe you could also order a vegetarian option. Drinks are extra. There was also a small snack on the way back (biscuits, fruit and fried potato tots) with a choice of tea or wine. The stops on the cruise were well-organised and timed; we enjoyed our ‘bamboo’ boat trip around the bay (there is an option to take a kayak or to book a speed boat, if memory serves it was about VND200,000 per person), and the caves were stunning. The 400 step trek to the top is somewhat worth it – the view is nice, but the top is very busy and way down can be slippery. What lets it down is the transport – if you happen to be the last people to be picked up (also last to drop off…), be prepared to be crammed at the back of the bus for the 2.5-3h journey there and back. The trip could really be improved by either booking less people in or using a sleeper bus. The stop on the way there was at a pearl shop – while interesting to see the process, not sure how many people buy $4000 necklaces during the trip. The stop on the way back at the sculpture shop (also some food available) was unnecessarily long (about 30 min) and resulted in late return to the city (I wouldn’t recommend booking any transfers etc., based on the predicted return time). On a bright sight, if you’re looking to buy a 200kg marble statue, you can have it shipped to the UK for as little as £350...
Ha Long bay is wonderful! Moreover, Brian was the most amazing tour guide ever. Not only he explained us the historical and cultural background of the places we visited, but he was also very friendly and caring, everything was very well-organised! We did many activities (hiking, swimming, kayaking, bamboo boat, dancing) and the food on the boat was great. Definitely recommending the experience itself and Brian as a tour guide
Was a very cool experience. They made it very easy to enjoy. Kayaking was a very cool experience, and the guide was very informative.
Great communication throughout. Well organised. Phong, our guide, handled everything really well. Same for driver, Nam. Really lovely crew on the boat.
Fantastic trip, Tom vu tour took care well , explained the history and the places. I really had a amazing time , adventures . Nice food.
The tour was great and the guide, Tom, was great…. Just the guide was late due to traffic by half an hour… Good food good walk
Highly recommend, Tom as a tour guide . He is excellent and done all the job perfectly. He is very friendly and helpful. The food, arrangement of the vehicle and all other things are excellent. Highly recommend
Really friendly and funny guide " Tom", very astonishing experience, you will enjoy the tour, have knowledge about the tour
The entire trip was a blast. I was anxious joining a group but was able to meet nice people and Tom was very accommodating and organized from pick up, during the tours until drop off. Overall 5 stars and will recommend.
They pickup from the hotel in a bus at old quarter. Take you on to all crazy itineraries in the cruise. Kayaking was a relaxing activity. Lunch was great with vegan options. Our guide Tom must be appreciated for his pro active personality.
We travelled with an infant and a young child and it was fun and liked it. Enjoyed all the three places we went. It was safe for kids as well. Our guide Tom suggested which places are safe and ensured we got a good boat as well
I really enjoyed the trip to Halong bay. Tuan was my tour guide. He is a very nice, friendly, helpful, and funny guy. I would highly recommend this tour and would love to do it again.
We had a great day with Tuan. He was very helpful and accommodated to my vegetarian diet. The tour brings you to all the mice views in the Halong Bay while giving you time to explore some spots on your own for a bit.
TOM IS VERY NICE🤩🤩🤩🤩 Beautiful view and pretty scenery Cold and very pleasant journey with good food and friendly guide
We had a wonderful time with Tom, we appreciate his service! Thank you, and we'll join again next time we come over! Thank you, Patty Kwan
I had a wonderful time on the trip. Our tour guide Tom is excellent and very helpful. I would recommend any one to go on the trip.
Tom was a superb guide, great communication and helped me with a special request. Full of energy and enthusiasm. Highly recommend
This is a great tour if you want to see many of the islands in Halong Bay. The tour includes 3 stops at 3 different islands and the views are breathtaking. Activities include exploring some magnificent caves, kayaking through a passageway under one of the islands, and climbing steps to the highest peak of one of the islands. AND, the tour started out with a really nice Vietnamese meal aboard the ship. The climb to the peak is quite a trek and can be difficult if you’re out of shape or have health issues. There are several places to buy refreshments and souvenirs along the way. Our tour guide, Dylan, was amazing! Very informative, helpful, and friendly!
We had a very knowledgeable and really friendly tour guide, Long. This tour is definitely recommended if you don't have enough time touring Hanoi. The only thing is, there are just too many tourists in each stop which is unavoidable since there are just too many cruise boats doing the same thing.
Our guide was amazing. Phong was funny, informative, caring and made the trip for us, the driver drove so safely which was appreciated. Whilst a long day, it was action packed and well organised. All 5 stars. The food was ok but I guess as good as expected. Ha Long bay is busy but still beautiful.
This 1 day tour of Halong Bay was really good. It gives a large introduction to this Unesco site, which beauty can't be explained. Mister Phong was nice and the driver too. Thank you. If you don't have several days for Halong, do not hesitate!
A fantastic experience in this spectacular place. A long day but packed so much into it. Everything was well organised, the activities were terrific and varied, food and the boat trip was really nice but our enthusiastic, entertaining and informative tour guide Long, was what made this trip a very special event.
This tour was incredible! It was one amazing sight after another. Sunny our tour guide did an exceptional job of showing us the sights and teaching us the history behind them as well as adding some humor. The islands were so beautiful and being able to see them from both the top of Ti Top island as well as from the water by kayak was awesome. Definitely a trip I won't forget!
An amazing tour would recommend. But a word of caution if you go swimming from the boat beware of the underwater currents. When I jumped from the boat the sea look so calm & when I resurfaced I was shocked to see how far away I was from the boat 60 metres approx, I am not a good swimmer & that was to far for me. Fortunately for me a couple from Tasmania Mark & Cholie had their son Luis seated in a buoy stretched out from the boat with a rope tied to it, I swim for it & just about manage as it was very difficult to swim against the strong current. I knew I was in trouble, this was a very close call me. So thank you to Luis & parents from Tasmania. 😍 Michael from Galway Ireland 🇮🇪 👍
This program consists of essential places, and the guide was very professional and supportive. I want to recommend my friends.
The experience presented by Tonkin Cruise was incredible! Phong was awesome as the tour guide and he also had a great sense of humour. We were taken to some great places and the overall experience was fun and interesting
A very nice tour. The food was particularly well done, there was a very large selection, there was even something for vegetarians. The tour guide was very friendly. Unfortunately, the caves were very crowded, which affected the charm of the cave. All in all, recommended if you want to see a lot in one day and don't have a problem with lots of people and tourist spots.
Good tour have enjoyed all day. To many activities and some breath taking view of halong bay. 1 day tour is really great to explore halong bay especially with the the great tour guide Phong
Super nice and chill. If you don’t have time, this tour is highly recommended. Nice boat, leisure activities, not to hustle. The tour guide is informative and caring.
Had a really awesome experience on this tour with my 10 year old son. Phong was a great guide and very informative about the area. He was full of facts about the cave systems. The tour took all day with a great lunch and afternoon snack. Our favorite part was swimming in the ocean and relaxing on the boat during sunset. Thank you for an awesome trip.
Awesome day trip to Halong Bay. Great guides who will message you before your trip to arrange pick up from your hotel (if you select this option). Lovely lunch included on the boat and a great guide and group of other travelers. Really good value for money - we booked through Viator.
Awesome experience but same as phuket cruise tour. But we enjoyed a lot. Good food in the cruise provided for Indians as well.
Very Nixe Trip with many Impressionens! Nice Tour guide….always funny and helpful. Got many Impressionens of the nature of Vietnam and very good food on the ship
It would be good to know that you cannot bring single use plastic bottles on the Bay. Overall, enjoyable. Good lunch but was blindsided by the need to buy drinks, even water, aboard.
Money well spent for a family of 4 with small children. Picked up from our hotel right on time, comfy bus, our guide was such a gentle soul with good knowledge and eager to explain about Hanoi and Halong as much as time allowed. Food on the cruise was fabulous with variety of choices and activities were well organised
Highly recommend this tour. Phong was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and extremely funny. The boat was comfortable and the food provided was great. Not sure what people are talking about in regards to be starving for the rest of this trip. The boat provided light snacks at the tail end of the tour, and there are multiple rest stops to stock up on snacks. It was beautiful floating through the bay towards sunset with everyone winding down after the tour, and to swim in the bay after the mountain hike. Kayaking (or bamboo boating) through Ha Long Bay was STUNNING. It is a bit crowded with other groups and tourists, but it is truly a remarkable experience. The mountain hiking and walking through Ti Top Cave were incredible too. While obviously a great initiative, Ha Long Bay bans all plastic so we weren't allowed to take our own water bottles on the hikes. There wasn't any warning of this on the tour so it should have been mentioned so we could have prepared better. Other than that, this was an wonderful tour, well worth the cost and will definitely recommend it to others if they come here.
We really enjoyed this trip and would recommend! Our guide, Phong, picked us up at the requested destination on time and messaged in the morning to confirm. Phong was welcoming, made sure everyone had a relaxed, informative trip. We did every activity, view points at Titop were really nice, there are a lot of steps, doable for everyone just be prepared to be a bit sweaty by the end if the weather is warm. The highlight for us was the kayaking as this was the main reason we booked but we was actually pleasantly surprised by the surprise cave, ha! Kayaking was 30mins which was a good amount of time, we didn’t feel rushed but of course more time would have been great. There were also some monkeys here. The food, both meat and vegetarian, were tasty! Thank you
Every activity was really great but the Surprising Cave was, well, surprising indeed! Definitely worth visiting. Food on the boat was really good and the crew and guide were very efficient and pleasant.
SO BEAUTIFUL! definitely an unforgettable experience. the kayaking was amazing and the cave was absolutely huge! the day trip was definitely enough, we never felt rushed but we also felt like we got to see everything we wanted to!
Halong Bay itself is very beautiful. A one-day trip was perfect for me because I got to see the highlights. The bay is FULL of visitors so there’s traffic on all the stops (Titop steps, Surprise Cave, kayaking). The tour guide was knowledgeable but not personable or that nice. Overall I’d say he was average as a tour guide. The food was good and plenty. Water is very expensive because plastic water bottles are banned to keep the Bay clean (not too successful at meeting their goal, however).
We had a great day in Hạ Long Bay. We were picked up at our hotel in Hanoi on time and the bus ride to Hạ Long was pretty smooth. The activities were fun and our guide did a good job entertaining us the whole way. The lunch on the boat was delicious. Highly recommended!
Our tour was so fantastic!! Our guide mr Phuong did a fantastic job setting expectations of what each stop would entail, so we were prepared. The boat also moves at an amazing leisurely pace where there wasn’t a lot of wind for us to sit comfortably outside to enjoy the breathtaking views of Halong Bay.
A trip to Halong Bay is a must for anyone visiting Hanoi. It is touristy but the views are spectacular. There are many tour providers and tour agencies that offer varying options for Halong Bay. Each are very similar so choosing one tour over another can be confusing. You'll want to make sure they are able to cater to any special need you may have, such vegan/vegetarian diet restrictions. A tour to Halong Bay can and will require some physical exertion, so be prepared to climb some stairs.
