Travelling down 100km to the Southern of Hanoi, Hoa Lu ancient capital and Tam Coc Eco tourism are two of the most visited attractions in Ninh Binh Province. Hoa Lu ancient capital: In 968, Dinh Bo Linh declared himself as the King. Since then Hoa Lu existed as the capital for the next 41 years (968 – 1009)of which 12 years was under the Dinh dynasty – King Dinh Tien Hoang, the country named Dai Co Viet, and 29 years later was under the Le dynasty – King Le Dai Hanh. In 1010, King Ly Thai To moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long – present day Ha Noi. Hoa Lu became the old citadel. In Hoa Lu there are now 2 temples have been built on the ground of the old royal palace, one is dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang, the other is to King Le Dai Hanh. The visit offers a chance to know more about part of feudal dynasties and historical periods in Vietnamese history.
Visit Tam Coc eco tourism: Taking small boat along the Ngo Dong river around two hours to visit Tam Coc. Known as “Halong Bay on land”, Tam Coc are three limestone caves. The boat trip is a nice journey along the river with peaceful scenery of limestone mountains, rice paddy and the site of some temples along the way from Hang Ca (first cave) to Hang Hai (second cave) and Hang Ba (third cave).
After boat trip along the romantic river of Tam Coc, You will have a chance to explore around Tam Coc Village with bicycle, visit Thai Vi temple which located in the middle of the Paddy-Field, one of the best way to discover daily life of the local people. 4:00 PM the tour will be the end and it takes about 2 hours to driving back Hanoi.
Mua Cave(Hang Mua in Vietnamese) is one of the place you must try to go when you are plan a day trip to Ninh Binh. You will following the path leading to the foot of the Lying Dragon mountain and climb nearly 500 stairs to the top of the mountain to explore Vitual tower. From the top of the mountain, all of the view such as Ninh Binh city, Ngo Dong river, Lotus ponds, rice fields...will be closed in your camera lens. The ramp up to the stand in Mua cave is quite steep, it takes about 45 minutes to 60 minutes depending on your strength.
Bai Dinh Pagoda is a famous spiritual scenic complex in the Bai Dinh – Trang An ecotourism spot with a history of more than 1000 years associated with the land of many feudal dynasties from the Dinh, the Early Le to the Ly. Nestled at the western of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, belonging to Gia Sinh Commune, its near by Trang An ecotourism, Hoa Lu ancient capital and Mua cave, the complex covers a total area of 539 hectares, with both the ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda and the new Bai Dinh Pagoda. Considered as the largest complex of Buddhist pagodas in Vietnam as well as owner to many other records of country, South East Asia and Asia, this is definitely an indispensable destination in your handbook where to go.
Trang An is known as Halong Bay on land. The spectacular landscape is dominated by towering limestone mountains covered with tropical plants, rivers and hidden temples and pagodas. Trang An is the only place in Vietnam which is both a natural and cultural UNESCO heritage site You will spend about 2 hours taking a sampan boat along the peaceful river of Trang An to visit variety of different caves and temples.
Cycling is one of the best way to exploring Ninh Binh rice fields, you will have a change to go through the paddy-fiels and rural commune to see how about the daily life of the Vietnamese local in the country side. We had a great trip out to Ninh Binh. This was a last-minute trip because we couldn’t go to how long Bay and the Tour company did a great job in organizing us for a trip next day morning. We were met by Johnny, who was a great guy and was very knowledgeable and did a great job in showing us around and getting us in and out of places very effectively strongly suggest asking for him when you do the trip. I also appreciate the tour company m efficiency in terms of getting things done.

Johnny is a very enthusiastic guide who took care of us for our day trip to the incense village, conical hat village and the train street. He is not only informative but takes effort to explain the life of locals as we pass rice fields, duck farms etc
I went on a private tour with my 74 year old mother to Ninh Binh. Our guide and driver (both Truong) were great. The weather wasn't in our favour on the day with scattered storms through the day but they still managed to co-ordinate the visit to Hoa Lu, Tam Coc and Mua Caves so we wouldn't get stuck navigating the larger crowds.

Our guide Johnny was superb: very accommodating, friendly and informative. The tour itself was very well put together, hisvery passionate and knowledgeable about his city of birth and happy to answer questions and chat. All the sites were worth visiting as important chapters in Hanoi’s past and present. For lunch we were taken to a nice local restaurants the food was delicious, plentiful, fresh and varied. Would 100% recommend taking this tour early on in your Hanoi stay to get an understanding of the history of this vibrant city.

This day tour was such an incredible experience! We have done many tours in Vietnam however, this one was one of the best! Top Travel Company is a very good company for traveling to Vietnam. And their manager Jhonny Pham is very good natured and provides very good service.
With few advance research done, it was super helpful to have a private tour that worked with our pace and interest especially with a child. We got to see the heart of the area, had great experiences, had good food and enjoyed every minute of it. One thing, we wished we had researched the history of the area more and visited them. The temple was huge as advertised, but we hoped for an electric car ride throughout inside in the heat but walked inside the sites, did not go up the pagoda. The boat ride was 90min with few stops at the temples. The hike up the stairs was super tough but worth the effort with its striking views. The guide came ahead of schedule, great knowledge of the places but no so much on the history, but he took us with great care. The driver was drove safe making the 2 plus hour drives relaxed and comfortable.

He is very knowledgeable about the history of area and random facts we asked. Our driver made sure that the air conditioning was on before we got in the car. Hien is an excellent tour guide. He gave us a lot of local history and took it easy while showing us around in the nearly 100-degree heat. In Ninh Binh we saw the emperor’s grave sites, the Mua Cave overlook, and rowed the Tam Coc River. The views were phenomenal. Very picturesque. We were picked up at our Hanoi hotel at 8 AM and headed back to Hanoi at 4 PM. Lunch was provided and it was fine. Drinks are not included but are not outrageously priced. The car ride on our two person tour was very comfortable. Icy cold AC. Quynh was a very able driver. Always ready for us.
Roy and Bing, made the trip! Roy kept us entertained with plethora of facts through out the private tour. He made us feel comfortable as 3 female travellers. I can not recommend this tour enough, he was also able to change the itinerary to suit what we wanted to do/see! Thank you Roy and Bing!
