Chef Kim provided a dynamic, informative and fun class. He was able to vary his instruction for any level of cooking experience. We learned not only the recipes but wonderful insight into the Vietnamese culture.

If you have one day in Hanoi, I would definitely recommend reserving half of it for this experience! We enjoyed everything about this cooking class! We started with the market tour, which was really fun. We got to see fruits we had never seen before, and Chef Kim even bought some for us to try as dessert after our lunch. Chef Kim and his family prepared everything so well. The cooking area was very welcoming, spacious, and open. The instructions were also very thorough. At some point, I honestly felt like we were attending an actual culinary school, but with so much more laughter! We learned a lot, but we also had so much fun throughout the whole experience. One funny moment was when we asked for rice to go with our food. I think Chef Kim was genuinely surprised by our request, but they immediately prepared some for us! We really appreciated how accommodating they were. And the salt coffee! Oh, we would honestly do this experience all over again just for that! My family enjoyed this so much that we still talk about it even after our trip. In fact, whenever we eat Vietnamese food now, we always end up comparing it to Chef Kim's cooking. That's how good it was! Overall, this was such an enjoyable and memorable experience for our family. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming, and Chef Kim and his family made the whole experience even more special. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Hanoi. Again, if you only have one day in the city, make sure to reserve half of it for this. You won't regret it!

I cannot speak highly enough of the Kims. We did the food tour on our first day in Hanoi to also get the lay of the land. We then signed up for Kim’s cooking class and it was phenomenal, like one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had in the world. Both Kims were also so knowledgeable about history and hanoi, so it was so helpful to get their perspectives and answers to my questions. Such an amazing experience! The Kims welcomed us into their home, shared their culture with us, and taught us how to prepare traditional Vietnamese dishes completely from scratch — and everything turned out absolutely delicious! We spent the day exploring the local market, preparing dinner together, and learning so much about Vietnamese food and culture. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, not only sharing their knowledge about cooking but also happily answering all the questions we had — even those completely unrelated to food. It was such a fun and authentic way to kick off our vacation in Hanoi. What we loved most was how personal and relaxed the evening felt — it genuinely felt like we were spending time with friends rather than attending a cooking class. We couldn’t recommend this experience more! If you’re looking for something authentic, personal, and delicious, definitely book it!

My wife, sister, brother in law and I did the cooking experience with Kim. It was fantastic. I highly recommend it. He's super entertaining. The food was delicious. We had so much fun. We made vietnamese pork & shrimp pancakes, chicken pho, fried pork spring rolls, and banana leaf salad.

I had an amazing time at this cooking class and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi. The whole experience felt very authentic and welcoming from start to finish. We began with a visit to a local market to pick out fresh ingredients, which was really interesting and gave great insight into local food and daily life. After that, we went to their home where the class takes place. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and it felt more like cooking with friends than attending a formal class. The instructions were easy to follow and it was great to actually prepare the dishes ourselves. Everything we made was delicious, and sitting down together to enjoy the meal at the end was the perfect way to finish the experience. I truly loved it and would definitely recommend it!!

We had a great time cooking and eating with the Kims! It was a private cooking class and we met Tung, the chef, at the market. There we bought all of the fresh ingredients for cooking and he explained everything to us and answered all of our questions. :) We cooked different vegan dishes and learned how to make the sauces. Everything was suuuper delicious! We even had two types of dessert plus salt coffee which almost tasted like tiramisu. We loved it! The Kims also gave us some advice to find vegan food in Hanoi. :) After the class, Tung shared the recipes with us. The class is absolutely recommendable :) Thank you so much for an unforgettable time!

We booked the cooking course ahead of our vacation to Vietnam directly through Kim's Kitchen. Our wish was to learn about authentic Vietnamese cuisine and culture from our guide and chef. Our expectations were completely fulfilled! From shopping at the market to preparing and cooking the food to finally eating our homemade meal. Our hosts were super friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and made us really feel at home in their kitchen. 11/10 experience! Totally recommend!

It was such a great day!! We learned so much today and cooked super tasty food together. Tung has amazing culinary knowledge. Would recommend it to everybody who is interested in authentic food!!

We had the BEST time with the Kims at Kim's Kitchen! It was absolutely fantastic and a definite highlight of our trip! Our instructor, Tung, was incredibly friendly, passionate, easy to converse with and knowledgeable about Vietnamese food and culture. The class began after being picked up from our hotel with a visit to a nearby local market, where he shared insights into Vietnamese market culture and introduced us to unique local fruits and vegetables - many of which we then used in the cooking itself which added so much depth to the experience. We cooked fried spring rolls, bánh xèo and a banana blossom salad which we were able to choose from a shortlist menu of popular vietnamese favourites at request. The instructions were simple, clear, and easy to follow, and the homely atmosphere made everything feel genuinely achievable to recreate in our own kitchen at home. Although the class says 3-4 hours, we ended up staying longer, sharing the meal together along with some of Tung's home-brewed wines and a salted coffee, which made the experience feel even more personal and special. We were lucky enough to have a two person class, but it's clear they keep class sizes small anyway to maintain that personal, tailored experience - and it's absolutely worth it. The class was incredible value and truly a must-do when visiting Hanoi. If we're ever back in Vietnam, we'll absolutely be back for another class. Highly, highly recommended!!

We were allowed to choose what we wanted to cook ourselves and went to a local market together beforehand to get the ingredients.
