Everything was amazing especially the tour guide
Our stay on the Catherine Cruise in Ha Long Bay was nothing short of extraordinary. If I could give it six stars, I absolutely would. From the moment we stepped onboard until the moment we left, every member of the crew went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The staff were genuinely warm, friendly, kind, and caring, and their attention to detail made the entire experience feel effortless and luxurious. The food was another standout. Every meal was beautifully prepared, with a fantastic variety of delicious dishes that exceeded our expectations. It was honestly some of the best food we’ve had while travelling. The tour guides were also exceptional. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about sharing the beauty and history of Ha Long Bay, making every excursion enjoyable and memorable. And then there’s Ha Long Bay itself—simply breathtaking. The dramatic limestone karsts, emerald waters, and peaceful atmosphere create one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever visited. Seeing it from the comfort of the Catherine Cruise made the experience even more magical. Everything about this cruise was first-class, from the service and hospitality to the food, excursions, and accommodation. It exceeded every expectation we had and created memories we’ll treasure forever. If you’re considering a cruise in Ha Long Bay, don’t hesitate to book the Catherine Cruise. It was truly a five-star experience—actually, make that six stars. Highly recommended!
Our stay on the Catherine Cruise exceeded every expectation. From the moment we stepped on board until the very end, everything was absolutely exceptional. The food was outstanding, the rooms were beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the level of service was second to none. Every single staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely went out of their way to make us feel at home.A special mention has to go to Felix, the boat manager. He truly made this experience even more memorable. His professionalism, kindness, and incredible hospitality created such a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and it was clear that he genuinely cares about every guest having the best possible experience. If you’re considering a cruise in Ha Long Bay, don’t hesitate to book the Catherine Cruise. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be back. Thank you to Felix and the entire team for an unforgettable trip!
Very nice cruise and well organised. The room, food and amenities were excellent. Big thanks to Evelyn, she was amazing. Also that's Ken . Highly recommended
It was just okay. It bills itself as a 6-star cruise but in reality, it was a solid 3 stars. There is nothing to do after 10pm. WiFi was not available during the whole cruise. Also, it wasn't really a cruise; it basically just went a few miles off the coast, and anchored there most of the time. I can see the city most of the time from my room. The staff is well-meaning and kind, but they could use a bit more training. The room is just fine. A table was broken, and it was taped back together with duct tape. This is not 6-stars. There were tea cups but not even a single water or wine glass. The food was fine, but how is it possible that there was no proper coffee during breakfast? They gave us overly burned drip coffee one day, and no coffee the next.
We had an amazing 3day/2night stay. The staff was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. Mary and Ken were particularly wonderful.
Our cruise with Catherine Cruise was one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam. The experience started in a beautiful check-in lounge, and we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a Grand Suite. The room felt incredibly luxurious—more like a five-star resort than a cruise cabin. Sailing through Ha Long Bay was breathtaking and such a unique way to experience the scenery. The staff were fantastic throughout the trip. Our server, Evelyn, was always attentive and happy to adjust the menu if needed, and Felix, who guided the tours, was knowledgeable, funny, and great to chat with about Vietnam. We highly recommend booking the two-night cruise. The second day was especially memorable, with a smaller boat taking us to quieter bays where we could swim, kayak around the islets, and visit a pearl farm. Overall, it was the perfect mix of exploration and relaxation, with great food, beautiful views, and wonderful staff. A truly memorable experience in Ha Long Bay. Did I mention the pool is heated? 😁
Beautiful time, staff was friendly and provide good service particularly Felix ACM. He go out of his way to make you comfortable and enjoy your trip. Totally recommend this trip
We enjoyed very much and Felix Phuc very helpful and informative , we will be back . We definitely recomend our Friends
Loved the cruise the staff are fantastic, helpful and friendly especially Mary and Zozo.
The Catherine Cruise was an amazing experience. The staff was very attentive the amenities were very nice and the scenic views or amazing. Mary our butler excellent, Vikto very good job and Felix manager as well
Enjoyed the cruise. Staff were very friendly. Mary was kind enough to check with us every meal for vegetarian options and make sure we are comfortable.
Phuc was very helpful on our cruise organising an onward transfer. Mary and Daisy were also especially helpful and polite. We enjoyed the cruise especially. Everything was great! 👍
Thanks very much to Phuc for all his help during our cruise. He was very supportive.
Did a 3D2N cruise with Catherine cruise with my parents. Love this entire experience it was fantastic. Everyone should come onboard to try. Love the lunch, set dinners and the various activities that comes in the package. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, bathtub with halong bay view as well! The service crew, Marry, was exemplary when it comes to her services and she's really so helpful and reliable. She remembers what we want, and is very observant. Overall, I would recommend everyone to try out Catherine cruise if you can, you will not regret!
I travelled Ha Long Bay for my honeymoon. Staff was very welcoming, and I felt so much effort they made for us. Food was great- they try to meet individual's request. Especially, staff named Marry always gave us detailed explanations of food, activities etc. I really appreciated it.
A wonderful 3 days/2night cruise. Highly recommend. Very clean super yacht with excellent catering and good size cabins with balconies. Excursions were great, including kayaking and bamboo boats through caves, and optional hikes. Fireworks from yacht at 9pm each night. Staff were all super helpful, especially London and Emma who looked after us exceptionally well. Thank you for a wonderful trip.
MR . Miu very nice serve in this cruise . We stay in this cruise 3 day 2 night . I can see everything in Ha Long Bay very beautiful . I hope Mr . Miu will serve me in this cruise one more time.
This was my first cruise experience in Asia and it was absolutely outstanding. The crew members, Mike and Steven, truly went above and beyond to make the trip unforgettable and provided my family exceptional service. They were incredibly kind, polite, and friendly, always ready to help with a smile. Their attention to detail and constant availability made a big difference and the trip very enjoyable. We wish them both all the best!

Mike was our butler he was very nice and respectful and took care of us and made the trip a lot better W mike. he also took care of my little brother when he got hurt and made sure he was okay. also steven was very nice and respectful
This is not a cruise around Halong Bay. You're taken out for an hour and then simply anchored. The next day you're thrown aboard a small 2-star boat that takes you around to the most horrible and touristy places. Ha Long Bay is also full of rubbish. While on a day cruise, the boat sails in for new guests and the ship is anchored in the same place the whole time. Large and plastic-like ship with far too many people and noisy children. The bar plays the most horrible and loud music while you try to enjoy the view. Played from a private phone interrupted by adverts. Toilet and entire room smelled of sewage. Before arrival they ask about your food preferences. We stated that we did not want seafood. But on arrival all food consisted of seafood. You think you are buying a cruise around Halong Bay on a 5 star ship but you get a 1 hour boat trip and an excursion on a 2 star day trip boat. We booked a private limo transfer through Catherine Cruise. They were late and driver had to stop for lunch even though the trip could have taken 90 min. Do not book Catherine Cruise. Instead buy a private day trip on a smaller boat. Catherine Cruise will throw you on a small boat anyway when travelling around Halong Bay.
My friends and I had a great time! Our butler Mike was absolutely lovely and a luxury we didn’t expect! Very nice and new boat!
This cruise was incredible - highly recommend. It is filled with small luxuries that make your time with them unbeatable. Each table/family is given a personal butler, to assist you throughout your time with Catherine Cruises. Ours was Mike - he was such an angel. Made the whole trip so much more enjoyable, catered to all of our needs and answered any questions we had throughout. Mike, is a great asset to the boat! The boat itself is beautiful, each room has its own balcony and the food is served to a very high standard. Highly recommend!
Amazing experience with the best hosts Van and Ella made us all feel very welcome. Excellent cleanliness and quality. Would recommend to anyone.
We really enjoyed our cruise experience as a family in Ha Long Bay. The Catherine Cruise staff were really wonderful and friendly. Especially Justin, Mike, Joana & Ella. Ella was always so friendly and helpful! Justin and Mike took our family on a boat tour to swim and kayak and we had an awesome time. Joana looked after us for our meals and general comfort on the trip. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The bath tub in the window is a real treat!!
We liked the view, our assistant Julie was a super star We loved the fireworks and the services The trips we went on were very new and great experiences
It was a pleasant experience, our stay was very nice and peaceful, the tours are great, and our personal assistant Julie was a star
We have no complaints and would highly recommend this cruise to anyone. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, passionate, and genuinely committed to creating a great experience. Over our 3 days and 2 nights on board, our butler Van provided exceptional service — truly above and beyond. We’d also like to give a special shoutout to Justin and Mike for helping make our time on the cruise unforgettable. Thank you, Catherine Cruises, for the beautiful memories. We’re already looking forward to sailing with you again!
Thank u so much 🩷 Best trip for ever 😍 Thank you Mike and justin from the staff , They are nice and friendly❤️ From Nasser’s family & khalodi ❤️❤️
The trip was amazing, very well organized, comfortable. Food and service were exceptional. Room and view from the balcony were stunning. Our butler Mike was super helpful, always was here for us.
Everything was good. Our butler Mike was very caring. There were many interesting excursions. The food was tasty and the room was clean and had a beautiful view outside
We just enjoyed a 3 day/2 night cruise on this beautiful super yacht. Our butler Mike made our trip extra special with his helpful kind service. Nothing was too much trouble for Mike. We stayed in the Royal Suite which was very spacious and comfortable with its own huge private deck. Highly recommend splurging on this larger room
I would highly recommend! All the activities are very interesting and all of us really enjoyed the trip! 🏝️ Staff were also wonderful! Special thank to Joana, she was very enthusiastic and friendly!
The staff, specifically Julie and Justin were amazing, they went above and beyond to meet our needs and make us feel as comfortable as possible on our trip on the Catherine. I would absolutely love to have them again, they deserve the highest praise.
Catherine cruise Ha Long Bay is an excellent experience. Two way Luxurious transfer from Hanoi was included. Limo ride with massage chairs!. Very helpful and excellent staff all in the way. Personal Buttler service for entire trip. Mike was with for this and provided excellent service. Lot of good food and drinks. Well planned outings. Live flue music during happy hours and dinner is also unique. Overall very fulfilling wonderful experience
The views were amazing. The room very comfortable and pretty. Cleanlines is outstanding. The 3 day 2 night made the difference, as on the second day we were able to be on more isolated areas away from the overwhelming crowds that we encountered on the first day activities. And although the food was a bit of a let down especially for a 6* claim, it all was made better by our ray of sunshine Butler Julie! She was so sweet, friendly, attentive and genuinely warm that I could have eaten plain rice everyday and not even care! Thanks to beautiful Julie for her hard work and dedication to outstanding service!
It’s described as a 3 day, 2 night tour. But it’s really just a day and a half, and of that 8.5 hours is spent touring the bay on a dayboat which is a traditional junk lacking any of the amenities, ambience or style of the much more modern ship you’ve paid to be on. See more below. Day 1 Catherine Cruises arranged a private luxury limousine transfer for 7 of us. The cost was USD140 each way. The car was comfortable and cool but the experience was anything but 5 star. Our driver spoke loudly on the phone for most of the 3 hour trip. He pulled over after 45 minutes leaving us in the locked van while he sat on the side of the road smoking out of one of the long bamboo pipes and drinking tea with his mates. When we arrived at the terminal we were herded into the air conditioned holding pen of the cruise company and processed along with the other guests before embarking about an hour later. We had booked on booking.com to pay at the property. Catherine Cruises tried to add a 4% credit card charge on to the booking.com price. Beware of these hidden charges. We encountered quite a few. The cruise is advertised as all inclusive except for drinks. You have to pay for all drinks including basics like tea, coffee, sparkling water and soft drinks. As you would expect, the drinks prices are steep and then they try to slug you another 4% for the card fee. We embarked at about 12. The accommodation is really nice with big rooms, comfortable beds and expansive balconies with gorgeous views across the bay. The Airconditioning works well and the shower and baths were good. This is really what you are paying for when you join Catherine Cruises or I suspect any of the big, modern boats. They are just floating hotels that moot close to shore. To explore the bay you need to transfer to the tender or junk boat. Lunch was a pretty basic buffet with sushi, a range of meats in bain maries and some seafood you could cook in a hot pot. There was some yoghurt and fruit but no other desserts. We enjoyed the afternoon excursion to the caves and to Ti Top island beach. We were here at high season so everything was very crowded. Happy hour (buy 2 cocktails get one free) occurred twice each day at 5.30 and again at 9.30. The cocktails are pretty good and cost around 300,000 each. Cocktail hour snacks are lackluster - a small plate of grapes, one of soggy biscuits and a platter of prawn crackers. Drinks and cocktails occurred with a back drop of people still decorating the space for the cocktail hour and carrying out loud sound checks while the entertainer struggled to be heard Dinner menu was abalone soup, green water jelly with shrimp floss salad, a small lobster mornay and chunks of tough meat advertised as Australian beef. Dessert was a jelly and Janna outta like slice. The lobster was ok although drenched in an artificially coloured yellow tinted sauce. The menu sounded much better than it tasted and the focus seemed to be on featuring luxury ingredients rather than preparing them well. Vegetables were cold and soggy. We travelled as a group of 7 so wanted to enjoy the karaoke that featured in the marketing material. We were told that we had to book and pay for it by the hour -1,900,000 per hour. We argued the toss given that a fee per use was not disclosed in our booking conditions. They agreed that we could use it. No one else on the boat was so it would otherwise have sat empty. The music choice was very limited but the room was great and we had fun. Apparently the sauna is also available on a fee per use basis. There are other reasonably pricef services but we didn’t have time to try them out. We were startled awake at 6.45 on Day 2 by a voice coming through the loud speaker in our room announcing a kayak tour starting in 15 minutes. One of our group was keen and got up to attend but was showed back to bed because the tour was apparently only for guests departing that day (although ALL guests were awoken with the news given without this qualification). Breakfast had been at 6.30. We didn’t make it. One of our group tried to get something to eat or a coffee at 8am but was told breakfast was “finished”. You had two choices for day 2. You could either stay on the boat although no activities were arranged and there were no excursions available or you could leave the ship at 8.40 for the entire day not returning until about 4.30pm. 5 of us chose to go on the “excursion”. That involved transferring to the tender and from there boarding a day junk boat which pools guests from lots of other cruises and heads out to explore the Bay. We had a great day and really enjoyed the activities (kayaking, cycling to a small fishing village and swimming) but the boat was very basic, the food was traditional Vietnamese food and was ok but nothing felt particularly clean or comfortable. The tour guide on board was helpful and made every effort to make guests feel welcome. The 2 that stayed on the boat reported that it was quiet, there was no activity and the whole boat was directed to repeating day 1 for the new group embarking. The lunch service was identical to the day before. Dinner tonight was a bit better - a vegetable soup, coconut salad, lamb chop and salmon. There was a small fire show and fireworks off the bow of the ship at 9.30. Day 3 again commended with the loud speaker announcement about kayaking. This time our group qualified and a few attended. Breakfast was at 7.30. It’s a basic breakfast buffet - 3 star at best. We are required to leave our rooms at 8.30 for brunch at 8.45. We had only just finished breakfast so it seemed weird to be eating again. Brunch was a little better than breakfast. And then that is it, it’s time to check out, pay up and get off the boat . Return - we disembarked at 10.30 back into the holding pen. No water or drinks provided while we waited around until the “limousine” chose to arrive - about 45 minutes later. There was no clear system, no help provided and seemingly little care for the plight of “yesterday’s” guests. Halong Bay is spectacular. We were happy to have seen it and we appreciated the comfortable rooms on board Catherine Cruises but I wouldn’t do it this way if I had my time over. I think it would be better to get on a smaller boat that can travel further around the bay so that you can avoid the day junk and the transfers from boat to boat. It was a 5 star boat but the experience as a whole was less than a 3. Other info - they say there is WiFi but that is not true. None of us could get WiFi at any time day or night. There was patchy data available if you could use data roaming. You will need cash to buy drinks and anything else you want on any of the excursions. Be clear about times for your transfer. Unless you want to sit around in the holding pen for between 45 minute to an hour, specify a clear pick up time if 10.30 and ask them to confirm that
Great experience and service. We were with our three year old daughter and we all had great time. Food was delicious, day trips were amazing and staff, especially Joana were very friendly and helpful.
We had an on incredible time on the cruise, highly recommended. Thanks to Joana for the amazing hospitality and making our Vietnam trip even better. Can’t wait to come back next time. Ciao for now 😀 Amali from Australia
Thank you! Amazing cruise. Brian was very helpful and friendly ! Cruise was on time, food was good. Trips are not too long and adventorous
My wife Maureen and I were in Vietnam for an extended vacation in Feb/Mar of this year and one of the biggest highlights for us was Catherine's cruise! Our room was spectacular with a wrap around deck and jacuzzi tub, the food was delicious, and the excursions were terrific. The best part of the trip for us though was our personal "butler" Van! Van a joy to be around, answered all our questions about Vietnamese culture, and went way above and beyond to ensure our trip was perfect. Van was always on call, and we've never experienced that level of service in all our many travels! Our highest recommendation!
Im an avid traveler & it takes a lot to disappoint me… like A LOT!!! Please look at my trip advisor & I’ve never left a bad review in the past 20 years. I’m only leaving this review because I believe that people deserve to know the truth. I’m BEYOND disappointed with my experience @ Catherine cruises. Our room- we had the honeymoon suite. It was a beautiful room until I took a bath & water was leaking everywhere. Next, our sink was totally clogged & wouldn’t drain. This is all stuff I can overlook but what sent me over the edge is when our entire room smelled like a sewage plant. They came in & sprayed a disgusting deodorant that just made matters worse. I looked under the tub & saw a cloth stuffed under there- I was then informed the following day that these were known issues. We had 12 hours left & they offered to change our room— by this time I, myself figured out how to get rid of the sewage smell— shut the tub drain & put water in the tub. My guess is that they didn’t empty their sewage tanks so smell was seeping up the drain. The food is horrendous—- like worse then a low budget cruise. I lost weight on our 2 night cruise. Everything was mostly frozen, no taste whatsoever & absolutely horrific—- the salmon & veggies are frozen & watery- like absolutely disgusting 🤮— I don’t spit food out ever & I had to spit out. I’ll say that they lay everything out to make it look nice but everything is tasteless. Lastly, Halong Bay is a huge tourist trap like you had to wait in a line to hike up a mountain—- soooo many people everywhere. Also, please note that the boat cruises for 30-40 minutes & then just sits in the same spot until morning. The 2nd day—-you may choose to be gone for a 6 hour tour from a third party company—— your basically gone all day to another tourist trap. You don’t cruise around— your basically on a trolley cart between the dock & where you park for the night. The 1 shining star: The CS is absolutely amazing & the boat itself is gorgeous & super clean.
We were 2 nights on this 6 star cruise. The boat itself is new, luxurious, large king rooms, clean and with exceptional staff. The food is great, there are various activities that can be chosen. Special thanks to Mr.Van, our personal butler, took care of us from the early begining. He even joined us on our speed boat experience to provide us translation and an insight on the surrounding, he kept for us breakfast as we were late, and was always assisting us with grace and a smile. As well as Ms. Ella who welcomed us to the cruise took care of our needs and provided solutions and opportunities for us to enjoy the cruise and was always very graceful and kind. In addition she's a great tour guide and a good photographer. Both of them really turned our first cruising experience to an unforgettable one.
Memorable experience ! Our entire family stayed at Catherine cruise for 2 nights and 3 days. The cruise rooms are fantastic ! There are ample options for food. And the service by our butler Van was just excellent. Van’s service was above and beyond. He was very helpful. His service reflected that he put his heart into his work and did it very passionately and professionally. He would always serve with a smile and also helped us managing our young baby at the excursion too. It was a memorable experience overall.
Just came back from an amazing 3 days 2 nights cruise on Catherine cruise in Halong bay. The cruise was as amazing as it can get. A true 7 star experience. They delivered what they promised. A special thanks to Marcus, our butler who made sure all our needs were taken care of and trip was as comfortable as possible. He’s a gem in the Catherine family. Thank you Catherine cruises. Wonderful experience
We spent two nights and three days on the Catherine Cruise in Ha Long Bay. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, with a few things worth mentioning. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and most of the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, there were a few instances where the attitude of some staff members could have been better. The food served onboard was predominantly seafood, so if you’re not a fan of seafood, it’s something to consider before booking. One unusual aspect was that, despite breakfast and brunch being served buffet-style, tea and coffee were not complimentary—even during buffet meals. You have to place an order for these beverages, and they come with an additional charge, which we found a bit disappointing.
