Itinerary
At 8:00 am, your tour guide will pick you up and take you to our bicycle store to choose a suitable bike. After getting comfortable with your bicycle and receiving a safety briefing, we will begin our ride. Our first stop will be at the Long Bien Bridge, which is over 100 years old and was built during the French colonial period. We will cross the bridge and enjoy a panoramic view of the Red River. From there, we can watch the boats float underneath and see the lush green vegetable farms on the island.
After crossing the bridge, we will continue our ride to the countryside along the banks of the Red River. This scenic route offers stunning views of Vietnam's countryside, where we can see farmers cultivating their lands. Along the way, we will make a visit to a local family that specializes in making bonsai plants. This is a great opportunity to learn about this intricate art form and admire some of the stunning plant creations. We will then take a break at the lotus lake and quench our thirst with sugarcane juice or some other local fresh drinks. Continuing our ride along dirt roads and through rural villages, we will eventually arrive at the Co Loa Ancient Citadel, which dates back to 200 BC. Here, we will learn about Vietnam's tradition of establishing and defending the country against foreign invaders, specifically Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong. To conclude our tour, we will visit a fruit garden and have lunch with a local family where we can try traditional food.
In the afternoon, we will continue our ride through the villages, fields, and along the riverbank, taking in the cool breeze of the Red River. As we pass through the beautiful villages of Northern Vietnam's countryside, we will eventually reach a local boat station. Here, we will take a cruise on the Red River to return to Hanoi. Before heading back to your hotel, we will stop for a unique Egg Coffee to get your caffeine fix. This is a local specialty that you won't want to miss! Our tour will come to an end around 4:00-4:30 pm.
Then we’ll head out for our ride!First we cross the Red river by Long Bien bridge – the oldest one in Hanoi built over 100 years ago under French colonial time to enjoy the panoramic view of the Red River, watch the boats float underneath and see the green vegetable farm on the island.
Then we ride to the countryside along the Red River’s banks to take in the stunning beauty of Vietnam’s countryside and see farmers cultivating their lands. We’ll make a visit to a local family making bonsai to learn about this intricate art form and admire some of the stunning plant creations. This is a wonderful way to learn more about local daily life and tradition, our guide will assist us to chat with them as a translator.
Following that, we will ride our bikes to a local wet market and taste some tropical fruits. We take a break at lotus lake to fill our thirst with sugarcane juice or some local fresh drinks.Keep cycling through dirt roads and rural villages until we arrived at Co Loa Ancient Citadel which was built in 200 BC to learn about Vietnam’s tradition of establishing and defending the country against foreign invaders of Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong.

Looking for a unique perspective on Hanoi and Vietnamese culture? DO THIS TOUR!! I was amazed that they ran the full tour for me on my own with a guide AND support driver. The route is well thought-out to provide a variety of experiences, with a perfect mix of riding, relaxing, discovery, and of course delicious food. Brian was a perfect guide, who generously shared his knowledge and also his personal experiences of growing up and living in Vietnam - I learned so much. Shout out to Mio who kept the bikes rolling, kept me safe in traffic, and helped us finish off the gigantic lunch. Everyone connected with this tour went way out of their way to make it memorable, safe and enjoyable. They didn’t even make fun of my terrible attempts at speaking Vietnamese :)
Honestly, this was one of the best trips I've ever taken. The transport was super comfortable, and our guides Brian & Khang were absolutely amazing, so friendly, knowledgeable and kind. We had such a great variety of activities: a bicycle ride, traditional BBQ lunch, with a scenic boat trip crossing. Loved learning about the history and architecture and just soaking up the vibes of the tour. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun way to see Hanoi.
Initially, we thought it would only be 1 tour guide following the entire group, but actually, for this bike tour, there are multiple people on scooters driving alongside and behind you to take care of the traffic when you are on the road. so even if you are not a seasoned biker, you will still feel safe as they really prioritize the safety! the bike tour brought us to the countryside of hanoi, which is very different from the bustling city that most tourists are in. it was a really nice change of pace for us and we enjoyed the scenery around us when we were cycling. we got to see the local people’s works/houses, and the lunch was delicious as well (especially the noodle pancake and tofu). do invite the tour guide and his friends to join you for lunch as well and you will be able to chat with them. i myself am not a good cyclist at all, but when i fell down (totally my own fault as idk how to turn), they immediately offered to let me join them on their scooter, so rest assure this bike tour is really friendly to people of different fitness level 👍🏼
This was better than expected. I had my guide plus Tom on a scooter as a support vehicle in case anything went wrong. They took me through the amazing sites of the Old Quarter while we made our way to the countryside for fresh air and views of rice fields and local country culture. Included an amazing lunch at local hotspot and visited a local who grows bonsai trees. Too much to list. Highly recommend 👌
Brian was a wonderful tour guide! We enjoyed our day biking from Hanoi to the country side. Lunch was delicious, and Brian even made sure to meet our dietary needs. We highly recommend this trip!
We got a personalised private tour to the ceramic village and through the rice fields and to a temple to the north west of Hanoi. Tri (Chris) brought a lot of interesting insights and entertainment. We felt safe and well taken care of all the time, even when traffic got more dense and crazy. Kudos to Bao, who endured the ~60km ride with us bicycle-enthusiasts 😅
A great way to spend the day outside of Hanoi and get a taste of the tranquil surroundings and see the ways of the locals! Many thanks to Chris and Johan, my two guides (and bodyguards) who shared interesting knowledge and cultural insights with me, while also protecting me from the traffic. From Hoa
Great day spent with host Chris and escort Truong. Knowledgeable, hardworking, kind and attentive team! Catered to my every need! Fabulous way to see Hanoi and outskirts. Highly recommended! Thanks 🙏
Perry and his partner made this trip fun and enjoyable. We arrived to our Hanoi hotel on Tuesday around 1am from a 20+ hour flight from NY and decided to book this trip for the same day- to begin at 8am. Perry picked us up on time and from there we saw a Vietnam vet and learned about his family, rode and survived through Hanoi traffic, saw bridges rice patties, markets, a temple and saw women making brooms from dried bamboo. Yes it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside, yes we were heavily sweating, yes it was 8 hours but it was doable because Perry and his partner made it possible and helped us feel safe. He gave us unlimited water, great food, a really refreshing sugarcane/pomelo drink and sticky rice with coconut icecream. We are not avid bikers ... I would call myself an occasional runner and I rarely bike. If we can do it anyone can.
If you need a break from downtown Hanoi's hectic streets, the Hanoi countryside tour by bike is a great escape! Once you've passed Long Bien bridge you are on village roads or in the middle of rice paddies. All the planned activities/visits ran smoothly (very well organised). My 11 year old son cycled 38km in 38 degree weather - Bike Tours Hanoi guides (Dat & Thuong) looked after us so well - it made the heat more tolerable! Dat's knowledge of each cultural site & historical event, and Thuong's attentive support made the trip a huge success! Highly recommend.
This was a really fun tour and a great way to explore the area surrounding Hanoi. We visited many places we never would have found on our own, and while we covered a lot of ground, the trip was broken up into several interesting stops, so you never felt tired. Our guide, Perry, was great. He was patient and kept us together on the road, and provided interesting background at each of our visits. This is definitely a fun way to explore, especially if you want a little break from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.
This tour was such a great way to explore the area surrounding Hanoi. We got lucky with the weather and had a beautiful day cycling. We covered a lot of ground, but the day was broken up by several really interesting stops. Many places we never would have discovered on our own. Our guide, Perry, was really great. Very friendly and patient. Easy to keep up with on the bicycle so we always felt safe, and provided a great overview at each of our stops. I definitely recommend this tour!
It was a great day out away from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. We cycled through rice paddies, visited a Buddhist temple, learned about the An Duong Vuong kingdom, had a special crispy rice noodle dish that’s just available in this one village, and dropped by a bonsai garden. I was also on my own so this was a private tour! Highly recommended to see the non touristy part of Hanoi and surroundings.
An amazing day riding about 40km around the countryside just outside Hanoi. We had a great guide Pezi who told us alot. The stops were great and biking was so much fun. Highly recommend
It was an amazing day trip on bicyles. We did about 40km through beautiful landscapes outside of Hanoi. Our guide Pezi was excellent and Bean provided great support. We learned so much from our guide and had a great lunch! A must do. Great bikes too
We took the full day tour with Thomas and had a blast. We got to see the beautiful countryside on fun bikes, and experienced a little bit of the culture outside Hanoi. Would highly recommend.
BEST DAY EVER!!! Such an adventure from the moment we were picked up from our hotel on scooters til the moment we were dropped off again in the afternoon.
It was a very nice cycling trip outside of busy Hanoi. The tourguide Thomas managed it very well! We felt safe cycling with him. He knows al lot and has some great stories. His English is very good! We saw a traditional broom making house, rice fields, a beautifull Temple, and a traditional old Vietnamese house, with a very sweet man making Bonsai trees. A good mix of exercising and taking rests! And the and we had a delicious lunch with the local prople. Thanks to Thomas and his collegue. Who joined us the whole trip by motor, taking pictures and providing us water.
We did the tour out to Bat Trang ceramic village, the cycle out was flat and cruise through banana fields and little villages. The bit of cycling in the city of Hanoi was initially daunting but our guide Bill/Hung was super attentive and having Bean (Binh?! I'm not sure how to spell his name) folloeing along on the moped made me feel a lot better. In the pottery village we got to try our hand on a pottery wheel, have a look around the ceramic market, have tea and a chat with a local man and lunch with Hung. All in all it was a great day, off the tourist trap path and a fun experience with our awesome guides Hung and Bean (I'm sorry!) who looked after us really well. Thank you!!
Everything was well organized. From the start till the end. The guides were very nice, cared for us and showed a lot. The food and drinks were good and enough. The weather was hot but there were enough stops to drink and rest. So don't doubt, book the trip!!
This was a very awesome day! I went on a solo excursion with Thomas and Emma and had a blast. Fun biking, not too difficult, with lots of good stops along the way. Learned about Vietnamese culture and met up with some locals in a village. Highly recommend!!
Blimey, we had a cracker of a day out on a mountain bike ride around the countryside near Hanoi! This wasn't just a quick spin, mind you - we were out and about for a solid nine hours, clocking up a good 20 km. Along the way, we ran into some locals making brooms - real fair dinkum stuff, and had a chance to tuck into a tasty lunch with them, washing it down with some of their local rice wine. We got to check out a temple, and even enjoyed a spot of tea with another local. To cap it off, we took a little ferry ride across the Duong river - beaut way to soak in the sights. And I've got to give a shout out to our guide, Hoa. The bloke's got a noggin full of knowledge, and he's not shy about sharing it. His English was top-notch too, which made the whole experience even better. All in all, this trip's a real corker. I'd recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat - it's a bonza way to experience the local scene. Giving it a solid five stars, no worries!
I made the booking just one day prior, and they are really responsive in confirming my slot for a private trip. My guide, Hoa, is really knowledgeable and he took good care of me throughout the entire cycling trip, making sure that i was not too far behind him and i was safe. His self-learnt English is superb, absolutely no problem in speaking with foreigners, and he acts as a good translator. Having a jovial character, he makes his customers feel at ease, and very willing to share his knowledge for all the questions that i asked. Well done Bike Tours Hanoi, hopefully i can come back for more.
The entire day was fantastic!!! Our tour guide alike great English, was knowledgeable, and taught us a lot.
Wonderful tour. We got to see the local wholesale food market, the beautiful rice fields, a temple, and some other historical sites. The city as well! Be ready to ride through the busiest of city streets. We got to meet several hospitable ppl/families along the way that provided their delicious food, time, and context to what life in Vietnam is really like. All were kind and patient, willing to answer our numerous questions. Perhaps the best thing about our tour were our guides. Mr. Trung was fantastic. He had indepth knowledge of each site and a witty sense of humor. He went above and beyond what we could hope for by not only being a great tour guide but also someone we could later reach out to for questions about Hanoi. Our support team included Mr. Bin and Ms. Dan as well. They carried extra waters and video taped the whole experience from a scooter. When one of our members became tired, Bin jumped off the scooter and took the bike while our compatriot rode with Dan. Both were also friendly and made for good conversation. An amazing experience with people I hope to see again.
We had an amazing day cycling through Hanoi countryside! Trung and his team made us feel safe trough out the entire journey, especially when cycling through busy Hanoi, which was an exciting experience! We had a lovely lunch with a local family house, and Trung provided us with a lot of info about the Vietnamese and local culture. I really recommend this tour to anyone, especially those wishing to experience a bit more than just the busy Hanoi centre!!
My friend and I went on a bike tour with guides, Trung and Dat. They were really helpful. I barely ride bikes back home, so Trung rode along holding my bike all the way to the suburbs while Dat took me on his scooter until we reached the suburbs where there was less traffic. It was pretty impressive ! They took us to the countryside where people were so warm and welcoming. We had a fun time with the ladies at the market place, the delicious food at a families home in the village, watching home run business of making brooms, rode along rice paddy fields, clicking pictures (Trung is a great photographer!) a home with the creative bonsai gardens and lovely tea listening to their story of the 100 year old house and their family tree since the 1500s ! It was amazing. We also sat by a lake opposite the temple which was so calming. While Trung led the tour, Dat made sure to ride his scooter behind us even though we were slow to make sure we were ok and would share stories with us. Trung and Dat finally took us to a famous cafe to have egg and condensed milk coffee. We loved the experience overall and are grateful to both Trung and Dat for an unforgettable experience! They are great company. Thank you both! ☺️ Hanoi bike tours is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone who visits Hanoi.
We had such an incredible time on this tour. We started out in Hanoi where our guide Trung navigated us through the morning rush hour and market roads while Dat followed on a motorbike to make sure we were safe. Having little experience cycling in cities, I felt very at ease knowing he was right behind us. My friend didn’t feel confident enough to cycle in the city so she sat behind Dat while Trung took her cycle with his right hand and cycled himself using his left until we reached the quieter suburban streets and she could take over. Very admirable skills! We really appreciated them accommodating us. The tour itself was fantastic. Trung is super knowledgeable and had so much information to share in response to all our questions. We met quite a few people throughout the tour and had a delicious lunch with a local family in a village. We cycled past lush green rice paddy fields in the countryside in the most gorgeous weather, and occasionally had to flee a spot of rain 😄 Trung is also an excellent storyteller and had us spellbound with some of the tales he shared of times long gone. What I loved most about the tour was meeting so many people from different walks of life and sharing a few moments of joy with them while learning about their life. This is “tourism for the community” as Trung put it, which is exactly how it should be. We were in Hanoi for only a couple of days and are SO glad we did this tour. Highly highly recommend visitors make time for it for what is a truly enriching experience.
It was full day tour with bike tour in countryside with Cris. The tour was about 40km and you will get to see various parts of rice field, farm, temples, local family house visit. The visit with local fish and food market is a very unique experience. I was treated with wonderful and relaxing lunch by the lake Co Loa. The Egg coffee break at cafe Giang is interesting. I will strongly recommend anyone to use their bike tour service for an immersive local experiences.
Fantastic experience in Hanoi, to visit villages, a Buddhist temple, local families, rice fields, market. The bike tour has great biking and amazing stops with fantastic views and food. Dragon fruit by a lake with great view, lunch in a family farm with an experient chef, lots of biking and an egg coffee ( trust, it's amazing) for the great closure. This review wouldn't be complete without mentioning our guide, the great woman ANH, who gave us so much information, sympathy and ran the tour in a perfect way. And Cris who was a funny and experienced biker who gave us a good ritming and security even on the city's road . Totally recommended.
This has got to be on your bucket list! Teenagers would love this experience with their parents. Great for family bonding. Many many thanks to our guide, Tea, who expertly guided us so safely through the harrowing streets of Hanoi and into the tranquil countryside, full of padi fields, hospitable and hardworking local farmers who cooked a lovely village meal. Wonderful opportunity to get to know the Vietnamese people on a deeper level. Grateful to Tea for not rushing us (I'm not the fittest parent around) and being so reassuring and encouraging every step of the 27km ride (one-way). Tea is also highly knowledgeable about his own culture and other cultures - great conversationalist. My 2 teenage boys said they thoroughly enjoyed the day with him, and so did we! :)
I had a great time riding the countryside. It was a nice way to get out of the bustle of town and get some exercise. Ninh was a great guide and was helpful in giving me some of the local culture, food and drink. I would recommend for anyone in town looking for a great day trip!
Great tour! We spent a lovely day cycling around the countryside on the outskirts of Hanoi. Meeting with locals in their homes was a plus - lunch was fantastic, the people warm and lovely and full of stories. Our guide Ninh provided great insight into local life and culture, and was always attentive to our needs. There was a good mix of cycling and sufficient stops for rest. Beginner cyclists will need a bit of road confidence at the start and end of the tour as parts of the ride (getting into the countryside) took place on big roads with heavy traffic. The bicycles were of good quality, well maintained and easy to ride.
If you are tired of busy city of Hanoi, this tour is one of must activities here in Hanoi. You can enjoy nice countryside of Hanoi and the visit to farm and family in village was really valuable moment which I didn’t expect. Foods at Farm for lunch was amazing. Best meal in Hanoi for me!!
Had an excellent tour with ‘Tea’ and his team. The lunch was top notch. Even negotiating the Hanoi traffic was fun!
Had a fantastic day tour with Tea and his support team. Great tour route with lots of sights. Met lots of amazing people and Tea was a great guide with lots of useful and interesting information. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent tour. Our guide Tea was amazing!!! Great English, excellent itinerary, and fine local food. Would highly recommend.
Great day to see the outer-city sights of Hanoi. Nice experience being able to share food and company with Vietnamese veterans and learn more about Vietman’s cultural history. Beautiful countryside sights to see. Navigating the traffic can be a bit daunting, but you get used to it the longer you spend in amongst it all. There are many quieter areas to cycle through also, it’s not entirely ‘hustle and bustle’. Highly recommend this tour for biking enthusiasts and those wanting to see more than Old Quarter and/or French Quarter.
My tour guide was Minh, an English language student from a local university. Minh was a great guide, was able to answer all my questions ( and there were a lot of them! ) . I haven’t cycled since October so I was a little bit worried that I may not make it back but Minh was very understanding and adjusted to my pace , we had lots of different stops during the trip so I had a chance to catch a breath. What a great way to see rural life !
I would highly recommend the full day countryside tour with Trung! Trung was an excellent guide. He was great at navigating both me and my husband out of the busy Hanoi city streets which I was initially nervous about. We cycled throuch rice paddies and farms to get to villages and took numerous stops along the way including for fresh fruit, visiting a temple, home cooked lunch, tea and crossing the river in a boat. Trung was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed meeting the villagers and seeing some of their homes. It rained but Trung provided us with ponchos. We finished off the day with a delicious egg coffee and kumquat tea!
First of all, a massive THANK YOU to Ninh who was a great guide and excellent company, too. Pick-up was prompt and setting off very efficient. For anyone who is nervous about cycling out of Hanoi, don't be. Just listen to and follow the guide's instructions and all will be fine. Basically, no sudden movements, especially no sudden stops and just flow with the traffic. We got separated a few times in the city - it can't be helped but Ninh seemed to have eyes in the back of his head, and knew where I was. The highlight among a day of highlights was visiting the bonsai garden. The citadel and temple at Co Loa were amazing, too. It was great to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and get some insight into village life, and farming. I learned a lot of Vietnamese culture, customs and festivals along the way as well, thanks to Ninh. Lunch was delicious. Getting to try rolled pho and fried pho on the last day of my trip was very welcome. I would be going home several kilos if I had discovered these when I arrived in Vietnam. I got to try egg coffee as well. The name doesn't work that well in English but trust me, it's a treat for any coffee-lover. All in all, it was good exercise, good fun with good company and excellent value for money. As you can tell, I am one very happy customer. Thank you!
Very nice bike tour in the Hanoi countryside with lunch at the locals and visit to a very sympathetic bonsa grower. The two guides were great.
We had a wonderful tour with two super guides despite the rain. They were always very friendly and endeavoured and funny. The food at the locals was excellent, we ate with family and were welcomed like friends. All in all a wonderful day, highly recommended 🥰
Picked up at the hotel at 8 am by 2 super enthusiastic supervisors. How and That gave us a nice bike route through the city and then the country site. Nice stops to have a tea. Finished with a super lunch and cup of traditional coffee at cafe went.
Accompanied by good English speaking guide Ninh bike tour outside Hanoi. With stops at interesting places such as Long Bien bridge, temple and pagoda. Lunch with local family with specific food from the region and tea at a bonsai tree grower with beautiful stories of the past. Good bike and helmet. Recommended for anyone who wants to do more than walk through the busy city and want to know more about Vietnamese life in the countryside.
Nice trip around Hanoi. Several stops at a temple and at a Bonsai grower. Delicious lunch at a family in the countryside. Guide spoke good English and knew a lot to tell. Good bikes.
This bike tour gives you the perfect experience of how the locals live! Definitely recommend! Then you get combined training with many local impressions!
